after years of mystery and a lot of delays the action adventure rpg hybrid biomutant is finally releasing soon so if you haven't been paying close attention here's everything you need to know about the game if you want to read up on more all the sources are linked in the description down below uh we've got 10 specific points so let's get started off with number 10 and talk character creator we're going to talk straight away with one of the big main standout reasons why people are so excited about this game so you create your own custom critter at the start of your adventure and you can make them seemingly pretty unique judging by the character creator stuff that developers have revealed uh you're an anthropomorphic squirrel raccoon cat mutant hybrid and you pick between a few different races with some visual variations each has differences in some stats like vitality strength intellect agility charisma and resistances but these stat points seem to be adjustable thanks to a slider where you can choose which to prioritize and interestingly enough these have visual differences like move towards strength and you get bulkier and a bit slower give yourself a bigger head because you're gonna have higher intellect so you have a bigger brain move towards agility and you're more skinny and um agile you will also be able to choose a starting resistance like a resistance to heat or radioactivity or cold so that certain attacks that hit you or certain environments will end up giving you less of a penalty you also choose your class guns and melee an agility focus class a heavy class a magic class a bit of a technical class and a mercenary class that is locked as a pre-order bonus not the biggest fan of that but uh yeah we won't break down the individual classes here uh we think honestly in games like this part of the magic is discovering that but you can see here that they have a lot of crazy stuff going on uh you can also go in deeper and change like say the color and pattern of your fur and tada you have a weird fairly unique creature on your hands to venture out into this world with it seems like everyone's gonna have a pretty different looking character now next at number nine let's talk about the story you're in a post-apocalyptic world it's a bit more sci-fi than just gloom and doom and the world is suffering from a kind of natural disaster where this poison oily goo is seeping up from beneath the surface and harming the tree of life this is like a massive mystical tree in the center of the world it has five major routes and that's where the main story apparently lies you venturing out to each far-reaching route throughout this open world and freeing the tree from its captors and this poison to save the environment and your world but it apparently is gonna get a lot more complicated than that the story is told through a narrator throughout the journey and it seems like the narrator narrates everything you do and even goes as far as voices all the npcs too which is a very unique choice it's different this is a world that's filled with other creatures though so most interestingly uh there's also different tribes and you're going to be able to meet and speak with different characters in these tribes and according to the wiki there's like a karma system that influences the story and decisions you make and how characters react to you and what they give you and quest lines in general these tribes think of other rpgs where there's clans or different groups that you join and kind of mingle with it's that type of thing the storyline is said to be a branching one in good rpg fashion which could be cool and according to the recent game reformer report uh there are two endings you can get next at number eight let's talk combat it looks awesome and it looks like the absolute highlight of the game there's a lot to it as the developers called experiment 101 have dubbed this kind of a martial arts themed thing but it goes further than that so in combat you can do ground attacks jumping attacks and aerial combo juggles you can dodge left and right and switch weapons on the fly to hit enemies with different debuffs and attributes your combat abilities depend on the stuff you choose at the outset with your character creator and it can get pretty complex with how it all directly affects combat you have a martial arts style that seems like it dictates some movesets then apparently your faction and your mutation give you different abilities in battle for gun characters we've seen them dive in slow motion shooting two pistols at once for faster melee characters we've seen them zip around and teleport ninja style slashing every enemy in a radius and we've seen weirder stuff like the mechanical enhancements where you get a type of pinching claw and some bouncy bubble attacks what that shows us is that there might be a ton of variation here we're only scratching the surface because we don't know everything yet and we can't cram it all in here yet until we actually get our hands on the game we've seen a lot of moves complete move sets specials magic stuff and of course cool weapons which we'll get to all this in a bit next at number seven let's talk skill progression in biomutant questing and defeating enemies nets you experience points that allow you to level up so stop me if you've heard that one before but the game promises you will change and mutate over the course of the game thanks to exposure to this world as you progress there seem to be three big things you work on and change your character apparently picks up new mutations in the world by interacting with contamination spots you find this is where you get the crazy stuff abilities like burping out bugs or the bubble mucus thing we mentioned earlier or the ability to grow stuff in the environment and sometimes these will change you physically like giving you a spiky tail or something and sometimes this stuff can be mechanical the mutations here are like the core big changes there is also wushu which gives you new combat abilities and then there are powers which you can get like telekinesis or other magic type stuff so from combat choices to all the skill progression and customizing abilities and your weird creature has you have a lot of control over your play style it gets even crazier when we talk next at number six the weapons and equipment this is where it gets really fun so there's melee and ranged weapons as you probably can see melee weapons are divided into three categories sword heavy and long and ranged weapons are pistols shotguns and rifles there's also armor pieces and and the loot here is kind of what we've seen with typical modern rpg color-coded rarity systems uh but then each piece of this loot also has a quality rating and a type of material it's made from these armor pieces can also of course have some good old-fashioned rpg attributes if it's good enough like higher damage or more resistances you're also going to be on the lookout for gadgets that will help you out like a gas mask as well as finding resources for crafting the game seems rife with exploration for this type of stuff so you can hopefully go nuts if you love maxing out a character next at number five biomutant has been on our radar because it's an interesting little game and it's no surprise that has an interesting crafting system too crafting or building weapons in biomutant looks straight up like a blast so using materials that you collect from getting done you can stop off at settlements to use crafting stations to build melee weapons and guns there's a bunch of different crafting material that you'll need to collect to build different grips stocks sights barrels and by the time you dump some material into a weapon it looks drastically different and like you can see all the pieces and put them on the gun in real time like you can see what they're going for here it's all cobbled together it looks really cool it sells that post-apocalyptic thing like it all looks like garbage that has been repurposed like putting an oil filter on the muzzle of a rifle or attaching nails or scissors to a melee weapon there is a durability meter attached to all the weapons it seems so you will have to keep an eye on that but we can see the whole digging and scavenging for loot to repurpose into weapon mods being something that's really addicting just because we've seen it in a lot of games obviously but not quite like this next at number four let's talk about the world the game is entirely open world and according to the developers experiment 101 uh the world size is eight by eight square kilometers adding up to 64 kilometers apparently not including the game's large underground explorable areas or the interiors now according to the game's fan wiki the above ground is known as the new world and the underground ruins are known as the old world they expect to travel to various different biomes we've seen quite a few of them in trailers and it helps knowing that you'll need resistances to traverse certain places like we talked about earlier as you run you climb and glide around this big old place next at number three so what are you doing here you're questing obviously like we mentioned earlier there are main quests but there are also going to be side quests obviously side quests are optional and you do them if you want some experience points or maybe something special it looks like you're going to be getting a lot of these quests from npcs out in the world and in settlements in populated areas uh the developers in an interview with wellplayed.com have been up front saying that the main critical path itself is going to be about 10 hours long but they said that's not factoring in any exploration or any side questing or anything like that it honestly to me sounds like a skyrim yeah a champ can breeze through skyrim's quest pretty easily but there's so much more in that world just judging by the amount of gameplay elements and things you can do we hope it feels drastically longer when you pepper in the exploring the collecting and the doing the side quests interacting with npcs engaging in side quests and making your choices apparently feels a bit like fallout new vegas according to game informer which is interesting we'll link their video down in the description next at number two biomutant has a surprising amount of ways to get around which is good considering how many wide open spaces it looks like there is first of all your little critter runs around but they have the ability to sprint where they go on all fours and they go much faster but you can also get traditional mounts creatures that you ride atop that look like they have some attacks and might be specialized for different environments then of course there's a bunch of vehicles one of our favorite ones we've seen in the gameplay trailers and extended gameplay trailers is is the kind of makeshift jet ski boat cobbled together from a bunch of scrap it looks like we've also seen you can use a glider to sail around the sky and some airship hot air balloon type of things which look really unique that's actually one of the earlier things they showed from the game we've been paying attention to this thing for so long but it is also worth noting that it looks like enemies can use vehicles too so be careful in one of the official gameplay trailers we caught a glimpse of a boat attacking the player now also if this game wasn't crazy enough there's also mechs dude i mean they seem pretty large and powerful but we don't have the full details on them yet but it just looks like another crazy over-the-top option now down to number one if you've seen our videos before let's do some housekeeping bio mutant is releasing on may 25th 2021 on pc xbox one and playstation 4. so yes for some of you next gen kids unfortunately there isn't going to be a native ps5 or series x version of the game at least not at launch but of course you could still play the xbox one and ps4 versions on the next gen consoles uh there are three different versions of the game releasing there's the standard price game there's the collector's edition which comes with a cool figure of the bio mutant the soundtrack and some artwork on fabric that'll retail for 200 bucks and then there's the atomic edition which has a really awesome diorama statue of the biomutant fighting a big enemy the same artwork and fabric soundtrack oversized mouse pad a t-shirt and a steelbook case but again i just want to repeat that as 400 as much as we're excited for this game we don't know if it's gonna be good so that's a big bet to take but hey if you're crazy go for it it's your money do what you want but still we're really looking forward to this game and that's some rough info you need to know before going in if you found yourself asking what's biomuting
