Sorry babby but the best lasagnas I've had in my life all have ricotta.
That cheese stretch on Babbyβs βzitiβ was beautiful!
Which madman/woman thinks it's bad to bake something with cheese?
(I really like Ziti like Casseroles, but personally I prefer baked Spinach Pancakes aka. Crespelle. Spinach + Bechamel is godly...)
Totally making the Babish Ziti this week. Good God...
Is the aversion to ricotta in lasagna/ziti because of the high moisture content?
Excited to see what the hinted-at next Sopranos episode has in store! /u/OliverBabish, 2 years ago I suggested the scene where Artie Bucco cooks rabbit; you seemed quite keen at the time so without any presumption on my part can I ask whether it will feature?
Iβm sure cottage cheese in this recipe tastes great, but I will never find out. I fear that if I use cottage cheese in place of ricotta, my Nonna will rise from her grave and actually hit me with that wooden spoon like she always use to threaten. I guess I will have to take everyone elseβs word for it.
I'm also not a fan of ricotta cheese, but what cheese would ya'll recommend as a substitute in your lasagna?
Regarding the layer of basil, /u/OliverBabish mentions cutting it up and mixing it with the ricotta, which it what /u/J_Kenji_Lopez-Alt does in his No-Holds-Barred Lasagna Bolognese Recipe. I recommend giving this a try!
I might try the cottage cheese and basil mixture used for the ziti/rigatoni, it looks very nice.
