Bill's Amazing Swim With A Mermaid

hey guys bill here hey do you remember that video I made not too long ago about the mermaid rescue that was the one where I met mermaid Melissa who's probably one of the most famous mermaid models in all the world but anyway if you recall mermaid Melissa in that video actually invited me to go swimming with her and I wasn't quite sure what to do but thanks to you guys in the comments you left you know I'm starting to come around to that idea especially considering what the weather's like where I live it wasn't easy to find her but thanks to my drone I was able to catch her on camera at a place called the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge it's a pretty fantastic place on the west coast of Florida where mermaid Melissa spends a lot of time nowhere I have some good news yeah what's going on there's a lot of manatees and I love to take the tunes right yeah yeah yeah our swim began at a place called three sisters spring it's a freshwater spring that mermaid Melissa really enjoyed as it turns out this place is also the wintering home of lots of manatees when the water gets too cold outside the refuge they come here for warmer waters manatees are not dangerous in fact they're quite gentle the proper way to hang out with them is not to chase them but rather let them come to you as mermaid Melissa showed me when you visit with manatees you never know what you're gonna get you never know if they're gonna come over and actually want to choose to play with you I'm sure that's true but as soon as this manatee saw mermaid Melissa's tail love was in the air and the longer the manatee was like what is that and when they come over they use their mouths to explore and they probably like the feel of the tail and the look of it and they have good eyesight what's what's these hands are these hands different than the last diver that I interacted with and hmm Bill's fins let's try to see what that's all about so it's not like they're trying to like eat my fins or eat your wetsuit but they definitely it's you and and touch things manatees can grow up to four meters for about 13 feet long and can weigh as much as 590 kilograms which is roughly 1300 pounds they're thought to have evolved from four-legged land mammals over 60 million years ago their closest living relatives are actually elephants thank you this is a great idea I'm glad you got me to do this yeah well I've got an idea oh wow this could be a problem fresher but I was thinking you know this could be just the beginning you know if you want think about it yeah I was thinking maybe like whale sharks whale shark maybe you know something different changing out you say a word shark yeah you know let's go but surely edge a little bit you know when sharks are actually another creature that could end up in danger so let's you know do some research and our homework on them and maybe teach our mermaid boys if you want to see more videos with mermaid Melissa I'm leaving a link to her YouTube channel right here and in the description box well that's all the time I have for this video but it looks like next time I get to go swimming with a mermaid and some whale shark so stay tuned for that one I think this is gonna develop into a pretty interesting series now if you made it this part of the video guess what I've got a surprise I've got two bad boy t-shirts to give away look at those guys they come from an organization called Friends of Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge which is an all-volunteer organization that helps to protect manatees and their habitat now if you want to try to win one of these which I would all I have to do is send an email to Bill's channel at gmail.com and in the subject line just white manatees rock to enter the random drawing to win we'll announce the results in about two weeks
