hey everybody Welcome to the 2023 Easter Jeep Safari where we are checking out an all new refresh of the Jeep Wrangler jails if you're a fan of the channel you know that Andre is in New York right now just saw this vehicle but he's not out here in Moab and in this video my dad and I are going to give you a Hands-On tour of the new Wrangler yeah Tommy at first blush it looks very similar to the current model but there are some significant changes so we're going to go over all of those and then we're gonna do a little bit of a walk around here from Walker drugs in Moab and show you what it's like it's experience and to be part of the Easter Jeep Safari because you know this is our most fun week of the year so let's start with the new grill huh yeah so if you have seen the news recently you know there is a 20th anniversary of the Wrangler jail to celebrate the launch of the Wrangler back in 2003 and it has this Grill so they've brought that 20th anniversary Grill to all new Wranglers you got some body coloring here now slightly smaller slats finished in Black it's a pretty good look though a little bit more modern a little bit more Progressive but this is also exciting so now straight from the factory you can inspect your Wrangler with an 8 000 pound worn winch and in order to incorporate that Warren Winch and make it past safety standards they had to give it these overriders so they actually have crash safety in the front bumper there which is cool we also have new wheel designs so this Rubicon here slightly more Satin finish with this kind of soft silver and then The BFG k02 tire there as well I like the old flat fender Easter egg in the middle there now you may notice that this model is if you want to get up close here Dad a four by E so with a plug-in hybrid Jeep the power trains remain the same for 2024. so you still have the three six you still have the two liter turbo you still have the 392 over there and then this one is the four by E with still roughly 20 some miles of range um but they're extending the 4xe lineup so now the 4X is not only going to be available on the Willies the Rubicon so the higher end trims but it's coming to the sport S as well so if you want a more affordable plug-in hybrid that is going to be optional we don't know the pricing on the sport s but let's talk about the big changes something missing over here the antenna if you're wondering where the antenna is it's right there now they've incorporated into the windshield which could be a good or bad thing depending on how often you break a windshield that's true because in Colorado the first thing I always do in a new Jeep is break the windshield you want the camera or you can show them yeah but this interior is where we're gonna see the big changes so the 8.4 inch screen now has been replaced on the top and by a 12.3 inch unit with Apple carplay Android auto you connect five so it's got the new Uconnect system in here which I think is great another change the seats so one of my big complaints on Wranglers the seats now to be honest Dad they don't feel all that different let me show them the magic and the current one yeah look at look at that look oh look oh power seats so if you're stuck on an uphill and you want to move your seat forward you can now do it electrically I'm still noticing though dad the seat design itself feels roughly the same and I still could use a little bit more back travel so this seat is all the way back it's six feet tall I could use a little bit more travel I think there's lumbar support now check this out front there's a little button right on the front here yeah you do have it on that side too yeah yeah lumbar passenger side lumbar which is nice adaptive cruise control so the Jeep Wrangler is now getting standard adaptive cruise on sport s and above as well as standard um uh what's it called Collision mitigation warning on sports and above you can see this one we've got blind spot monitoring and now we also have standard side curtain airbags for the front and the second row these are also new because of the new 12.3 inch screen they had to get these little tiny vents that used to be the round vents over here yeah so the round vents have moved a lot of this is still similar with the big chunky buttons you still got your window switches in the middle you still have the locker switch down here too high for high four high part time you can get the full time T case on the Rubicon model and uh yeah not too many changes on the inside apart from the new big bold screen yeah how about the rear axle it's now fully floating Dana 44. so you get towing capacity of up to 5 000 pounds now and you also of course have the option for uh potentially larger tires but Dad let's get away from the music yeah I know try to try to keep us music free here um so this is the 392 equipment look check this out they've actually got the screen going right there so you can see the new Uconnect system yeah yeah pretty cool huh yeah yeah and it includes Onyx Tommy uh yeah yes you have Onyx connectivity in the Uconnect um which is awesome so I'm glad that they're uh they're keeping up with the times so we actually have I'm Zoomed In by the way we have apple carplay going here and you can see Onyx off-road up there displayed let's check out the new Uconnect though we've got Jeep Pages there home pages media car play all integrated there which is really cool um very high resolution too so it looks a lot better than the 8.4 in the uh the previous uh generation or previous pre-facelift Wrangler which is cool so some other changes I want to talk about yeah good one I'm really excited about the Willies trim the trim I had now comes with 33 inch tall tires and a rear locking diff so Ford is kind of called Jeeps Bluff a little bit on the locker situation because on the Ford you can get the Locker on any trim from the base all the way to the top end uh jeep has been a little stingy in the past with offering lockers but now you can get the rear Locker on the Willies as well so if you don't quite need that full front end Locker capability you have that option okay what about these wheels and tires do you like those yeah I mean we've got new wheels and tires our new wheel designs across the board this one is the extreme Recon package with the 35s there's also a new model called the Wrangler Rubicon X so I have got the 35 inch tall tires on that model as well as well as some other off-roading changes um so I think we've forgotten to mention one thing what let's go back to the 4x8 because it does have this new feature where you can now actually plug in like your camping gear or refrigerator right yeah yeah so you can actually power things off of it and I don't know where that is it's supposed to be somewhere in the back I think get in the front this is an outlet in the front there's a new power box system up to 30 amps four outlets and the idea is if you're camping you can run stuff all off of the uh the electrical architecture and that works in hybrid and electric mode as well so you can actually use the gasoline engine as a generator yeah which I think is very very cool but um yeah I mean a lot of subtle changes to the Wrangler the big ones of course power seats they've designed the seat by the way so that you can still afford up to 34 inches of water and the Uconnect screen Uconnect 5 I think is a big Improvement um still verdict is still out and if the seat's any better but you know much about them uh we're doing a video right now sorry yeah yeah so we're gonna have to see if there's actually a lot of big valuable changes there all right should we talk about the booth a little yeah let's walk around a little bit and show some of the other things that are out here so obviously every year Jeep brings some Concepts to the Easter Jeep Safari and we've done separate videos on all of these uh we're publishing over at tfl off-road but if you go to all tfl.com you can see these videos If you want to get up close and personal with this stuff yeah so every year at the Easter Jeep so far the Jeep folks come out with a number of Concepts that showcase what they can do and some of the excitement in the brand and this is one of them it's a Grand Wagoneer concept that has a full Rooftop tent and 35 inch tall tires so a hard sided Rooftop tent carbon fiber hard size so do you think it's 30k plus that's crazy I know Jeep wanted this show what they can do with the Grand Wagoneer we also on the inside before we go to the next one because what they did was they made this into the ultimate Overlander and so if you go over here you can actually see that this is a place where you can chill like even plants look and then you can zip up to the top there and have access to your rooftop tent through the what used to be I think a sunroof yeah it's pretty cool very bougie this is the bougie off-roader I mean 110 000 like it's gonna be pretty bougie let's keep going over here we've got the Sideburn concept which is a Showcase of what Mopar can do so you've got a number of conceptualized and production Mopar Parts on this vehicle it's got the cool bed rack system here the uh the the half doors it's got a vinyl interior which I think is really neat if you want to look down there and I like that Tommy but what is the coolest feature on the front of this imagine if you want to go tailgating yeah this one is uh Elvis rated apparently yeah so check this out now we know why it's called sideburns part of these little whiskers right yeah you can fold down these whiskers and then this folds down like that get that in place and look now you got a place to chill out so it's actually a front-end seat on this vehicle this is a concept so yeah it might not make it into production yeah but if you like it you know and then you got these pins that you just kind of slot in there fold away the whiskers and they put the whiskers where they used to have uh recovery hooks yeah yeah so now you've got you know your bull bar there's a new grill let me show you the new grill and let me show you the old Grill and speaking of that dead no word if the Gladiator is going to get the same treatment as a Wrangler I suspect it might that seems like a good bet to me that they might put the the new grill on the Gladiator at some point and the new Uconnect system here's my favorite concept it's called the Scrambler Tommy because what's under the hood yeah this is really neat so this is a two-door open top Wrangler pickup concept similar to the cj8 back in the day but this is a 392 engine you can see it there um so this is another one of those Concepts which definitely hope make it into production I love this Fender Flare I really hope they do this with kind of this vending across the top and then out back you have more pass-throughs but really high mounted Fender Flare to allow those 40 inch tall tires do um ready yep oh they shut it off usually honks the horn so in here you've got um the the Plaid seating cloth plaid with the green stitching really a good looking color basically they took a jlu and turned it into a pickup truck and then in the back it's got bits and pieces of the Gladiator so you've got a probably a four and a half five foot bed and then a tailgate which folds down look at that you got full access to the bed there I would love this Tommy I wish they would build it's like 450 pounds lighter yeah 392. can imagine what that does for performance and of course this is our our I think our fan favorite 1978 Jeep Cherokee concept so took a Wrangler four by E they ripped the body off and then they grafted on its platform the body from a 1978 Cherokee and one of the coolest Interiors out there with this full jail dashboard this is a really hard thing for them to do because they couldn't change the wheelbase of the 4xe due to the powertrain packaging with the batteries and the inverters and all that so they had to leave the wheelbase and the frame the same and then figure out a way to do a custom body and all of this including the razor Grille has been messed with it's slanted back a little further but look at the integration of that worn winch how it fits in nicely there behind the Bodywork just absolutely beautiful well the cool thing about this is they found it on Craigslist and bought it I think Mark Allen designer for Jeeps that they bought it for two and a half thousand dollars and then really the only thing that's left that's original to this are the doors this is pretty cool I love the Retro yeah the Retro style four by E badging exactly I love that well let's see what else they got going on let me show you something else that's pretty cool look at this roll down Windows and the original door handle and to add some authenticity we've got a magazine from 1977. the off-road magazine how cool is that it's pretty neat the tension of detail is pretty staggered and then you got some funky stickers too yeah you got the old four-wheel magnets let me zoom in on those four-wheel magazine keep on trucking how cool is that and then over here Dad check this out they actually gave you a gas cap from a gremlin yeah because AMC used to own Jeep of course so that's kind of a little tribute Mark said that this was very hard to find and it cost 450 to find that so let's let's debrief and talk about of course the star of the show here the new Wrangler so the big news for me is the cheaper 4 by E 5 000 pounds of available Towing on that flow full floating rear axle on the Rubicon the screen is going to be great the full 12.3 inch screen the power seats are going to be a welcome addition powertrains remain the same across the board as do the transmission choices and we don't know the cost but I hate to say it costs typically never go down they always go up yeah so um we recently had a chance to drive the AEV version of this Jeep and that is now a special edition so they're only building 150 000 of them no 150 of them but they're starting at about if you don't get the 4x8 at about 110 000 so I think that's a sign of things to come but you know uh we're living in strange times Tommy yeah we sure are and I'm really excited that jeep is to make it more comfortable make it more easier make it tow more which is a big deal and make it an all-around better vehicle for uh families not only off-road but on road all right so let me ask you out of these Concepts which is your favorite this guy yeah yep the 392 um I really hope they do this in the um in the truck the Scrambler I really wish it would come to production but uh what about you dad I like the uh 78 uh it's so cool Tommy especially those wheels and the other thing we've noticed is 37s are the new 35s but 40s are going to become the new 37s that's true if you're in a jeep that's what's going to be happening and like with a vehicle like this right on 35s now it seems like um you know uh 33s are small so 35s look right on a jail and 33s look too small all right guys well thank you for joining us for this quick walk around uh look at the new uh Wrangler and uh remember go to all tfl.com if you wanna you know find more about the team and more from New York because Andre and Zach are there you know cranking out videos from everything that's been unveiled see you guys next time ciao
