hello my name's Rafael some might question my sanity for doing what we're about to do but if it works all is good so we're moving this watch on lathe which weighs 4,800 pounds from my garage into my basement workshop so what we have going for us is that we have concrete steps going down into the basement but at the bottom of the stairs we had about a left-hand turn so to mitigate that left-hand turn we've taken out part of a non load-bearing wall to make room for the lathe when it gets to the bottom of the stairs so a couple of things we've thought about in preparation for this move so I made five machinery moving skates I made three toe jacks we have a pallet jack here as well we I have a Johnson bar which can lift six thousand pounds so we're trying to get every available moving apparatus here on site so we can use it will also use heavy-duty steel rollers one of the things that we're going to try to account for if you will is lathes are kind of narrow long and heavy a little bit top-heavy so we're gonna try to limit the movement we've got some wood skids bolted to the stairs to help it be guided down as it goes down the stairs and really our ace in the hole we hope is a really heavy-duty tow truck that can lift 10,000 pounds just with the boom so that's our preparation so again the lathe is almost two and a half times 4,800 pounds we want to do everything we can safely we'll be really careful but you'll be able to watch our progress or lack of as we go so as a final thought before we begin I'd like to thank the YouTube universe I think I've watched every Mishima moving video more than once and have gotten a lot of good ideas and what to do probably more importantly what not to do in this lathe moves I hope you learns from it and the comment section give a thumbs up if you think it's good do you think it sucks just give us a thumbs down won't be the first time that I've had a lousy idea of poorly executed my personality is such that I'm often wrong but never in doubt let's hope that I'm right in terms of how to move this link safely today so stay tuned so we can do all the measurement we want to but one of the problems is sometimes things are unaccounted for many machines have been moved handles broken bent ruined I like mine laid the way it is so I want to keep it that way anyhow what I did is simulate the footprint of the lathe roughly 36 by 90 but the tailstock end is a little narrower so what we're going to do is take this piece of styrofoam down which is obviously a lot lighter than the lathe and we're just going to move it into position and Jokke it as if it were the lay this gives us a little extra measure of confidence that we actually can get this baby done so we're gonna come down the stairs simulating the latest footprints now at this point in time when the lathe is actually coming down the stairs the door jamb and door will be removed if only the lathe where as light as a styrofoam [Music] [Music] grass you Oh you big roller made a big difference oh I'm liking it [Music] yes okay you oh yeah you want the stability as long as this thing is enough that we can swing it over there would be okay we don't have to be completely off the ground as long as we can push it is everything okay that hole up somewhere with down once yes about that Jack leave that off okay I'm gonna go ahead no wonder this bloke with dead yeah one more one more all right how hard no does that push No okay see I think we got a weak position I just want to get as close as I can to them stairs yeah so I could pick you guys much better that's what we did everybody's got to watch their feet we're going perfect okay now we want to do is take which end you went down first you're in you're in okay so we got the sweetness of that that way if we got his money and this big Esther a big Esther okay so sure we clear I need one more guy in there yet just hold it you just roll okay [Music] [Applause] good set her down I want to go that way with just this side [Music] the bottom way [Music] all better holidays we're coming I declare now let's take one how's that okay Oh about four inches before your right Fargo yeah [Music] [Music] oh yeah a little bit [Applause] your right arms in [Music] [Music] you yeah right wait wait I gotta I gotta block the carriage here so now we're stuck in the ends we are not too much worse that's grounded then my powerful player I want to make sure I want to make sure that skates down there you want me to go yeah the scale is a mutator there I don't like bean by that Chivo keep going yep pull up stop - on a roller bar under there [Music] you all right now don't push you got to come toward me I'm pulling it out those skates are in this direction now well it'll pivot so the label the back end of the label pivot because I've got some thrust bearing on there so you just need to push toward me maybe they'll be easier why I can push against the wall well because I turned the wheel no well the label pivot on them the wheels are probably going that way so I could turn those wheels now you don't need to do anything for many days okay okay I got that aiming that way slightly okay I'll let this down I'm not exactly sure whenever you're moving any machinery whether it's a machinery scape or a pallet jack you never want steel on steel steel on steel the saying goes is no deal so I want to reposition the pallet jack so our little wood strips have better contact because too many forces involved here things could slide and get out of hand and we're this far I don't want to make any mishaps miss cover and everything's more or less good right now because we're near the drain in the floor I'm sort of thinking do the dosey doe right here just we can come really far that way then do the turn oh yeah baby Oh need the gym membership when you can hold machine belcheck hey baby Wow foot on the bottom of the lathe steps down about 3/8 of an inch do we want just wanna see if and pin it yeah anything on the front love it it's great okay this to each month well you can take the pillage I can push it straight hate them yeah okay you're really good stop sure all right so what are you thinking well I think we get the Palecek out of here and whether or not we still use a pallet jack or well I think we're a cow rollers underneath it yeah move it over to the bar yeah okay so do you already okay go I got a little bit too halfway under did okay giggles sure Kim even though my wheels aren't even moving or one of those oh just let you do it later oh yeah does easy that far enough too far no way Park it's probably too far [Music] keep going what you do the leverage so I can walk okay so here we are we're just about ready to put this leg down in its final spot it was a safe move there's things we would have done differently I'll talk about those a little bit later but I'm singing Amen right now brother cuz thank the Lord this was safe prayers answered I want it whoa did did I ever have doubt that this would really happen fleeting doubts just just temporary doubts but Kent from Dennis's mobile towing service at a fantastic job John our cameraman here had all kinds of great insights and observations which really helped Dave you were awesome thanks so much guys I hope you learned something I learned a ton from watching multiple machining more videos on YouTube so thanks to the the YouTube universe it's fantastic now if some of you guys think it sucks just tell me that's fine I can take it I got thick skin if you want to look at some of the products we make in the shop go to accelerated fasting calm or cheese harp calm we've got some products for sale there so anyway we don't just move machinery we actually use it so thanks folks really appreciate it you
