Big Haul 2020: Tulsa, Oklahoma

it's kind of hard to see the buildings maybe we'll get a little closer to it where are we we're up in tulsa oklahoma yes we are headed to dogs sb seekers of course there's a giant cement mixer right there right in the video thanks man there's the downtown oh yeah there's a nice shot of town tulsa is a lot larger than i ever thought it was your destination will be on the left i think we made it did we make it i think we did you definitely can't see it from the highway here you can't there it is [Laughter] there it is very cool there he is good yeah a little a little bit earlier than what we thought well that's cool yeah enjoying our weather i hope yeah it's really nice up here it's like it's like springtime in florida here man you need a sweater today yeah it feels good you may pull on in okay that is incredible where would you like me to park the truck is so you oh man you gotta have a pickup i have a pickup you put it in the back of yours oh the little yoda there just put it on the grass here beside your uh happy yep oh nice to meet you abby good to meet you too this is incredible yeah it's okay it's okay yeah yeah it's okay it's a great it's great to finally see it in person though it's when you take all the work that somebody like him does and just put it onto one thing it just keeps on growing yup come on i'll show it to you yeah absolutely close the gate okay look at the basset hound tango tinker we lost jezebel this year oh you're a sweet dog hi baby i don't need you hi how are you sweet brain huh oh oh us yeah well uh come over here and check this out oh yeah see i don't know you probably forgot about these things no i didn't forget about it i walked past that anchor winch up there all the time yep yep screw the groove in it well look i gotta admit one thing what i forgot something the groove's there that's all you need i forgot your woodruff keys in the shower you left my keys i left the keys there so the holy keys i got i'm us they're in the shop they're saving sound i just didn't bring them okay i wrote it down somewhere it's what they actually are so i can order the three dollar key again well i can send them to you uh if you need them right away i can get somebody to two years man we always say two years okay well when we get back i mean they're sitting there on the welding table right next where i had these and i just i grabbed them and then i totally forgot about the keys yeah so there's something going on vacation that's that's okay we spent a week loading up the camper man yeah you want to stay inside yeah let's uh if you don't mind just show us what everybody makes you a camera person yeah can you believe that she always that's fair i know i feed her pancakes okay that's true he does prettier than he is [Laughter] you okay going up yep okay yep good kinda yeah there we go it's done well okay yes yes i honestly thought you were about to jump off there so we'll have one on uh on each side right there yes sir going to slide them right in place get them on there i feel bad that i forgot the keys man they were sitting right there next to it and i just just totally forgot to go back and get them but i don't think that he's going to be launching this in the next month or so so we're going to uh we get back i'll put a net put them in a box and send them down here oh yeah now if we just had keys i know it man i totally failed all right you want me to yeah the key is not my problem the key is just the minor afterthought i'm gonna get your anti-seize on this one here this one's threaded apparently now oh you're getting it on there yeah okay now it's happy you found it there you go oh yeah that's all perfect had a burr on it come on here this is the coolest part all right so this is the wheelhouse yeah we've got nothing done in here but this is the the wheelhouse pilot house um it's gonna have the dining table and the kitchen or galley and uh burnt uh probably a cooktop and a washing machine and a dishwasher and then a couch so we can sleep a crew up in here too okay look at this this is the coolest thing we've got a little very i need to get some dust off of it but this was done by uh michael he's a doctor now and he did the whole thing up in uh wax and then cast it in bronze for us i was just looking trying to figure out and i could i was wondering if it was a bronze yeah that's what it looks like yeah he does it is it's a solid bronze and then the wood rim was done by uh my late friend uh hugh he was a he was a lawyer he worked on the boat for years with me it's a cedar no it's yeah it is it's a red cedar red cedar yeah it's the cheapest wood that uh grows around here it actually came out of arkansas next door eat all those well it smells great down there it's just smell it anymore you don't smell it i smell as soon as i walked in here but down there where we're at it's all pine it's all just yellow pine yes that's where all the lumber's made out of yeah yeah come on down all right you can go how do you go down this like a regular ladder if you're a researcher coming on board this area is yours to set up as you see fit okay if you notice there's at every two foot there's a bolt hole where we can bolt equipment to the floor so we can add tables and yeah that comes on i did watch i recall watching the video where you guys were welding all these in because it's sort of like a grid pattern yeah they're erased yeah make a round floor a lot harder to get right than i figured it would be like everything else you know we say we build it right because we build it twice so this is the bunk house up here yeah forward cabin oh step in the hole okay cool door there too all this stuff right here yeah we got an octopus swords and dragons on the doors they're all water tight doors so we can isolate that there's the head yeah sinks four bunks up here yeah and there's two in the aft all these racks and everything were built in by my volunteers and crew come on board yeah you've had a lot of volunteers yeah it's fantastic it's amazing huh it's fantastic because i just said you know what do you want to build it out of and they came up with oh you got a lot of aluminum pipe out here i said that's what we use yeah you go with it aluminum they came up with the designs and everything cool that's what we did like these you cast these yourself yeah well yeah that's winston churchill there i got martin luther king and and then when you open them downward like they will be when you're most the time yeah never never never give up this is going to be the machine shop and the engine room welding room yeah just imagine all the machinery you have tucked into here yeah yeah that would happen we need a uh we need a bench top lathe a bench top shaper maybe even a bench top mill and we'll yeah you could put them with that now this side right here we just wouldn't have any place to work just get them bolted down well you've got your holding table there with the device yeah and so these these are all made so you can pick these up and get down below right oh yeah so okay there's a battery rack uh down on this side there'll be two more batteries and the forward part of us but that's your storage so we'll build some boxes in here that take tools and stuff that's heavy very cool that battery bank is just directly underneath this this is all of his i-beam looks like he's cutting to uh make for the uh the frame for the axles that's going to be going underneath here tandem axle sets back there look who showed up today i tell you what you leave your gate unlocked and people just walk in yeah man we just pulled right up in here and you know that had parts to deliver well this is the one i like okay he says i'm better looking than the other one you're definitely better looking than the other one do you have a youtube channel for your graphic art design i don't isn't that nice not yet yeah it's nice this is these are our mast and the masks go on that trailer and the pilot house comes off and we're gonna have to build a rack for it to go on this trailer okay are you are you nervous about setting it in the water for the first time oh yeah i mean because you haven't tested any of your your welds yet right as well get tested sitting in the water but yeah that's that that'll come i'm talking about the first storm a leak or something oh no they ain't going to have a leak in it i know that because i've been swimming in it you know when it rains a lot here i i took a swim one day and lapsed oh it fueled alcohol it was a little water that's a great way to test it most time when we need to test the keels anything else we put water in it and we feel we made sure yeah the front edge of that keel yeah oh man i fixed that thing so many times but anyway it's fixed now and then you paint and all that stuff so okay yeah i know she's watertight good now is she is a weld going to split apart well it could that'd be exciting wouldn't it hopefully we'll have a camera running hopefully you're going to have all the machinery on board to do the whatever's got to be repaired at the time that's the idea you have your stick welder on there yeah if you do i do a little stick you know the reputation i have don't you he doesn't stick well i do stick weld occasionally you got your cutlass bearing in there for your prop shaft countless bearing for the prop shaft and the prop shaft is two shafts too because the inside shaft is the one that does the pitch of the blades okay and they both spin so there's a magic unit in there it's like a hydraulic cylinder that rotates yeah and then a big fish tail or rudder to go on the outside we gotta put that on after the props yeah i see you got a bushing down at the bottom that it sits in big uhmw and uh what's that called a dome bearing just had a great time hanging out with doug checking out the sb seeker totally cool seeing this in person i've seen this on youtube for many years there's been so many volunteers that have come down here and helped doug build this boat he still has a lot more work to do you got to finish out the wheelhouse got to kind of finish out the interior of the boat but it's getting close and it's magnificent to see this in person it's really amazing uh he does everything himself anything that he can do himself he gets it done so really cool we're gonna go and uh we're gonna go have some lunch with uh doug and then uh hit the road we just got back from doug's place we're getting ready to uh get things loaded up here and we're gonna head on out we're gonna go ahead and get the witch tall today and i've got some sad news to tell you our little fan here our brand new lasco fan that mom so generously bought for us and gave to us is no longer working uh it doesn't look like anything's wrong with it from there but i accidentally crushed it with the slide um it was one of those things that we figured out until we got you didn't know till we got there the we laid this down like that we had it laid down and uh whenever i was going to put the slide out the top of this had actually kind of slid forward down the you know the floor and got wedged in between the wall and the slide when i was putting it out and of course i didn't see it because it was dark up there um and but i when i was putting the slide out i i heard it kind of slow down i'm like oh better stop and investigate so i stopped it and that's when i realized i looked back there and i saw the fan start to get wedged in there the uh the fan is no longer working it still comes on but the the squirrel cage fan inside there is making all kind of noise and you can hear you can just hear the the grinding you can smell it burning in there so i'm not going to try to fix it abby does not want to use it and we're gonna have to throw it away i'm sorry but i will replace it i will go and buy another fan for the camper so that mom's hard-earned money is not in vain so we got a dumpster right down here i'm gonna go toss it now just because we don't need to carry it around if it's not being used for anything gotta go we enjoyed it while we had it we'll go pick up another one there's a cool little creek right there and what we're gonna do we're gonna pack up on just a few minutes we're gonna get ready we're gonna head just to the west about another mile or so there's a huge dam right down there so we're gonna go check that out see what that looks like i'll get a video of that see the dam and then we're gonna head up to uh wichita yes what's the name of this this is called the keystone dam at the arkansas river let's get out and explore this is cool stuff right here we don't get to see dams very often and horde sounds beware of rapid rise and water wow you can hear it flowing you want to go down there okay it's pretty cool let me get a shot this was one of the reasons why i wanted to camp right down the road the uh the campground is just like a mile down there on the way out i wanted us to be able to come by here and see this dam right here this stuff always amazes me and i love to visit him any chance we get it's amazing it's amazing isn't it it really makes me want to go really not right here but how about the koa pool yes let's do that and maybe crack a beer okay so we're gonna be heading about two hours up the road towards wichita we found a little koat right off the interstate and we're gonna go and uh stay there for for the for the night really nice campground right there he's mad we didn't say they're right next to the dam thought i've found that i thought i recall trying to find one but i don't i don't know why i couldn't get that one right there i don't know what happened with that but but next time we'll know yep next time we'll know this is a beautiful area all these um corps of engineer areas like this with these dams are always really nice very well maintained and kept up next time we come back we'll know where to go keystone powerhouse
