the gospel of luke and chapter let's go to chapter 2. now it came about in those days that a decree went out from caesar augustus that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth this was the first census taken while quirinius was governor of syria and all were proceeding to register for the census everyone to his own city and joseph went up from galilee from the city of nazareth to judea to the city of david which is called bethlehem because the this was of the house and the family of david in order to register along with mary who was engaged to him and was with child now it came about while they were there the days were finished for her to give birth and she gave birth to her firstborn son and she wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the end in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the field and keeping watch over the flock by night and an angel of the lord suddenly stood by them and the glory of god shone around them and they were frightened and the angel said to them don't be afraid for behold i bring you good news of a great joy which will be for all the people because today in the city of david there has been born for you a savior who is mashiach messiah adonai the lord and this will be a sign for you you'll find a baby wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger and suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts praising god and saying glory to god in the highest and on earth among men peace with whom he is pleased okay that's the scene you all know it i knew it growing up being jewish we all knew it it's a wonderful scene it's a wonderful account of what happened two thousand years ago bethlehem is a place of rolling hills and shepherds and sheep to this day and it is there to this day those who try to follow the law according to the law with the law who try just not to sin it doesn't work the very the very conflict just reinforces the problem so what does it have to do with bethlehem and moody's cup everything see the answer the question is how do you remove air from the vessel is by not trying to remove air from the vessel because even if you could you'd end up with a vacuum and that would suck in anything as soon as it got a chance it would be like those peanuts when you open it up and just rushes in because of the vacuum in there the answer to the question is how do you remove the air from the vessel is you don't try to remove the air from the vessel you simply fill it up with water and by filling it up the air will empty out how do you remove the air vacuum would suck it in just the first chance it got what does this have to do with bethlehem everything you see bethlehem is god pouring the water into the cup heaven pouring the living waters into this world what the law could not do the law is this empty thing trying to get out but bethlehem is the water pouring in bethlehem in hebrew beit lechem means house of bread or the place of bread house of bread so here is this place called bethlehem but the bread of life is not there but then he comes to it the bread of life comes to the house of bread it was empty before he came in fact
