if you have been looking to find cheap flights and travel on a budget then I have found some of the best ways to get you the cheapest options for your next vacation that not a lot of people are talking about so let's Jump Right In the first way is to sign up to Airline email newsletters to get alerts on their sales my absolute favorite family and budget friendly Airline is Southwest they run sales often where you can find one-way flights from just $49 to $79 and they allow you to check up to two bags with 50 lbs each per person and still allow you to bring on the two personal carry-on items a lot of people don't like Southwest due to the airline not having a signed seating however if you are pregnant or traveling with a child six and under you're able to get pre-boarding access and as a bonus hack for traveling with babies and young kids I'll leave all of my family's favorite travel friendly kid activities linked in a comment below these not only allow us to travel with our kids with ease in the car and on flights but also serve as lowcost entertainment at our destinations now here's some ways to find cheap flights that not a lot of people are talking about for these next three tips you want to use the tools I will show you as a guide to find the lowest flight deals but it's always best to get the flight numbers times and dates from these tools and then go directly to the airline website to book it the tools will do the work for you to find the lowest cost and the best part is these tools not only work for domestic travel but International as well so number two is to look on kiwi.com in the search bar I've put in United States to United States with no departure date or return so the search engine can generate all of the options but feel free to search from your own city or country to wherever you're looking to go to I still recommend you keep the departure window and return window open so you get as many options as possible as you see it gives me round trip options for several cities and destinations and when I click into this one from Raleigh to New York it shows me that there's a week roundtrip flight for just $43 you could do so many things with this take your time even Rent A Car and City hop for a week and one of my later tips I'll share a hack to get a great deal on a rental car but yeah this is a steal next is to search for flights with ITA Matrix which is a Google Google powered search engine you have to put in information where you see an asterisk but once you input your to and from location you can search for a range of nights and generate a calendar of roundtrip flights you also want to make sure you have this checked at the bottom to view flights with availability and prices in the tool once your results generate you can click into the best one to see what the dates are and the airlines now you'll want to get familiar with it but once you get used to all the tips and tricks it's an amazing place to find deals that you just won't see other places and number four is to use Google flights directly in the search bar you can put in your departure City but in the destination you'll put anywhere and then simply click explore as you scroll Google does all the extra work for you it gives you some great destinations for the next six months and the cheapest week to travel to that destination so if you're just looking for ideas for your next adventure you can start right here on Google again use these tools to find the best deals and details but it's best to go directly to the airline when you're ready to book this will save you all the trouble with travel especially if there's any issues with cancellations or delays you'll be getting directly notified from the airline instead of a third party which may delay the communication to secure the best rates for the flights you want to book at least one to two months in advance of domestic travel and for international and to book at least 3 to 5 months in advance now the next tips are hacks to make sure you are booking budget friendly travel number five is sign up for airline specific loyalty programs which are completely free each time you fly with that Airline you can rack up points that over time can be used to book more flights I currently have our kids enrolled in a flight loyalty program and we don't plan on using their points for more flights until they're much older so any flight we take from now until then they're just accumulating points that'll be used later so the points don't expire this is a great tip the next one is to travel hack with an airline or travel specific credit card you need to use this responsibly but if you do stick to one Airline you could also sign up for that Airline specific credit card and start charging a few of your monthly bills on it to earn extra points like with your groceries and gas and when you book your flights directly with that Airline using their credit card you also get extra Loyalty Rewards points and perks so be sure if you go this route you only put something on there that you have the money for and pay it off before that statement cycle ends to avoid being charged any interest with travel credit cards most of them charge an annual fee so you want to pay attention to that and do your research the next one is to stop at Walmart in that local city or town that you're visiting you can find so many great things from affordable t-shirts and coffee mugs think about it when you step into your Walmart you usually find t-shirts with your local high school team or college team and even State specific gear so instead of going to a souvenir shop check out Walmart on your next vacation the next one is to be flexible with your dates you get great rates on flights hotels and even destination specific attractions if you're able to book and travel on weekdays so for flights you want to aim to book for flight leaving and departing between Tuesdays and Thursdays for hotels the cheapest rates are during the week and for overall best rates when looking at traveling try to travel during the off seon so not during holidays or busy seasons for that location this is especially true if you're wanting to go somewhere like Disney if you want the most budget friendly trip be flexible and go after the kids are back in school or even right after Christmas and the New Year's holidays are over the next one is to use a travel agent especially if you're not the one who has the time or desire to do all the planning before I started traveling I didn't know that using a travel agent didn't cost you a thing they get paid through the places and companies they book to travel with the great thing about the travel agent is that they can and will do all the research for you including giving you recommendations on local experiences local methods of travel and just in general handle all the details in between and the best part is you will give them a budget and they can cater to that once you decide your location or mode of travel join a Travelers Facebook group for that specific thing search for Royal Caribbean Cruisers or Delta Airline frequent flyers these Facebook groups will provide live updates deals discounts and upcoming things to be on the lookout for for that destination or Airline and number 11 is to consider going on a cruise cruises are a great way to get into traveling to new location and you get all the food included in the price with fun for all ages on board if you're going to book a cruise you can look into to prepaying the gratuities so once you're on board you won't have to worry about any extra hidden fees for your rental car use a Wholesale Club membership if you have one I know Costco has great offers for rental cars and if you already have a membership why not look into their travel deals you can also look at purchasing gift cards and purchase gift cards for like Airlines and even Disney during their promotional times at wholesale clubs get on Groupon to search for deals for local attractions and events in the place you're going to ask your friends and family and anybody who gifts you things to purchase travel or Airline gift cards for you so that you will be getting exactly what you need for your upcoming trips and last is to plan ahead of time the more time you have to prepare and plan the better you can be about saving up and being intentional with how you choose to spend your next trip if you stuck around to the end of this video let me know in a comment below what's your dream vacation destination I'd love to actually see who stuck around to the end thanks so much for watching and until next time
