Best Warm Up Before Running (6 Movements to Run Better)

hey so before we head out on your next run do this three minute warm-up routine and then go out and crush it hey what's happening everybody coach Brian right here strength coach and triathlon coach with critical bench comm and I'm giving you a quick three-minute a stretching routine that you can use before you go out for a run or hop on the treadmill so we have six exercises or six stretches that you can use 30 seconds out of peace it's important to warm up before you run it just to get your performance boost it up and you're gonna crush and dominate the track the treadmill or just your neighborhood so the first exercise again we're going six exercises six stretches thirty seconds at a time the first one is your basic knee hug alternating right here side to side again you're giving that knee a nice little quick pull you're trying to get that those those glutes fired up those hamstrings up and roll in okay so this is a nice way to warm up the entire lower body right there alright so the next one is going to be just the opposite so you're gonna grab the foot behind I call this just a quad stretch quick pulls on the quad stretching out the knees the quads even a little bit of the foot as you pull that that uh that leg up alright so if you know anything about running here it's definitely a quad dominant sport so you might got to make sure these are nice and ready for performance next one I call it just a leg pull you're grabbing the shin pulling up this is a good pair of form of stretch now I'm not torquing my knee like this I'm kind of pulling up right there so you're definitely gonna feel us a lot more deep in that the muscle belly there are the hamstrings and inner glutes there this is a great hip opener right here if you do this fast enough and you pull hard enough you're definitely gonna start breathing a little heavier and you're gonna start sweating a little bit but that's the whole idea of a warm up is to get ready for whatever activity you're gonna be doing all right actually how to breath a little bit alright now we're gonna do some leg sweeps you can hold on to something right here like swings if you've seen any of our other previous video as we know that we love leg swings not just great for running but it's great for any type of lower body activity squats deadlifts plyometrics sports even if you're just feeling tight from sitting all day doing some nice leg swings really opens up those those hip flexors the glutes inner thighs and things like that again just going to the level of comfort that you're if you're comfortable with all right we got two more exercises one more right here step back give a good twist in that upper body step through switch sides so this one really opens up those hip flexors that's so as your obliques even a little bit of your middle to upper back which is also very important just stretch out again I'm not going for a certain amount of reps I'm just kind of going for about a half a minute maybe a little less a little more if you feel really tight in a particular part of the body it's okay to take an extra few seconds just stretch out that region all right good now we're going to the upper body because upper body has usually carries a lot of tension throughout running because you're right here in a fixed position and since we sit all day like this it's good to do some opener so you know some standing arm circles some arm flies stuff like this some Criss crosses it's really good to open up that chest pull your shoulder blades back to open up to allow good air flow coming in and out through those lungs but not only that you just want to make sure that your upper body is ready to move so there you have it I don't know if that was exactly three minutes but you get the idea spend 30 seconds on each of these six stretches or exercises and I guarantee your running performance is going to be taken to the next level so hopefully you found this video helpful if you got a comment or question on this post it out below underneath this video and hey if you want some more information on how to improve your running go to the video description area under this video and you're gonna see a whole bunch of information and also some links in there that's going to help you take your running to the next level that's it like this video subscribe to our Channel and share it with somebody no that's it I'm coach Brian with critical bench comm thanks for watching and have an awesome day [Music] you
