[Music] hey everyone and welcome back to Joey's retro handhelds today I'm going to go over what the best pal Kitty devices are for different use cases different budgets and all of that the goal here is to help make your life easier when you're trying to choose one of the many many po Kitty devices so let's just dive in and here's the list of pal Kitty devices that are going to be featured today we have the RGB 20s x55 rgb3 v90 rgb1 Max 3 Pro rcade 2023 x18s x28 and the x39 pro now of course po Kitty has more devices than this but out of their entire list of products these are the ones that I'd say are maybe still worth it in some way today those model names can get confusing so we'll make it simple so that you don't have to memorize what all of these weird models mean this is the second video in my series I did one just like this for am bernick devices so check that out if you haven't and I'll leave a link in the description so you can watch it for purchasing pal Kitty devices the best way is on pal Kitty's website directly as you get direct warranty from them and support alternatively I'll leave links to their AliExpress store as well as thir party resellers for anybody that maybe just can't purchase from their website directly lastly I'll leave links to any reviews or setup guides that I've done for any of the devices in this video by the way today's video sponsor is pcbway PCB way offers easy 3D printing which in our retro handhelds hobby is invaluable especially when good 3D printers are so expensive upload your STL or designs and they'll print it and ship it to you they they could be making buttons for your Miu Mini Plus right now or if you're an engineer at heart they go even further with circuit boards injection molding and more check them out link down below let's start off with the most powerful pow Kitty devices and that's the x28 the x18s and the RGB 10 Max 3 Pro the x28 and x18s are running the exact same processor with the uniso T6 18 chip and both are running Android only as an operating system there's no custom firmware options at all the RGB 10 Max 3 Pro however is running Linux and it's using an mlogic a311d chip it does have an option for Android firmware but it's kind of a mess and not really suggested so what's the lowdown on all three of these devices especially since I'm guessing most people have haven't really heard of them as they're not really recommended in any videos or across social media at all starting with the rgb1 max 3 Pro it's a bit of a mess firmware wise there's still a ton of bugs and issues with it that hold it back and given that it's been months since release I don't think this is a device that anybody should be looking at right now the main thing that set this apart from all of the other devices is that it's the strongest Linux handheld that we have access to apart from more expensive options like the steam deck and all of that but this just has a lot of issues the x18s is a clamshell design so it's a pretty easy decision there on if it's something you want it had a lot of issues at launch and that may or may not have been partially fixed in revision since then given what people have said that have bought it since then but it's still a bit of a risk it's not talked about a lot as it doesn't have a large following because it was mostly the launch issues that scared people away sort of a pattern with pal Kitty devices the x28 is the odd one out here as there isn't really anything wrong with it it's just larger than the competition and the competition is just too strong at this price point however with a 5 1/2 in 720p display it is larger than the others here and it would be a good option if you were looking for a larger screen with this power the main negative with the x28 that you want to be aware of is the controls it doesn't have a great d-pad and there's a lot of issues with the sticks for all three of these devices and what they can play perfectly it's going to be Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast with everything under that's exactly the reason you'd buy any of these and specifically for that purpose PSP will also have really good compatibility and it would would be a good reason to purchase these as well but just be aware that some games will need some tweaks and changes and won't work right out of the box now all three of these can also go a bit further and they can play limited amounts of GameCube Wii PlayStation 2 and switch the RGB 10 Max 3 Pro is the odd one out for switch As I don't believe it can but the other two they can play light switch Indies like Celeste and Baba you and games like that also with a lot of tweaks you can get some GameCube Wii and PS2 games working on all three but I wouldn't buy any of these devices for those systems as you'll just have a bad time if you do I think if I had to pick one of these three devices to purchase it would be between the x18s and the x28 depending on if you wanted a clam shell or not but this is a tough tier for POW Kitty as the competition from Amber and retroid are just better options and it's the main reason that you don't hear pal kitty's name for devices in this price range in category so that's the top end for pal Kitty devices let's move on down to other systems and the next tier will be devices that are great for up to PlayStation 1 and they can do some Nintendo 64 Dreamcast and PSP but GameCube Wii PS2 and switch are just not possible theice PR in this tier are the RGB 20s the RGB 30 the x55 and The RK 2023 so this is a fun tier these four devices couldn't be more different than each other if you tried the RGB 20s is the Odd 1l as the other three use the same RK 3566 processor which has better performance than the RGB 20s does starting with the RGB 20s this is the oldest of the four and pal Kitty's best-selling handheld of all time this thing has sold like Gang Busters over the years and it's pretty easy to see why it's a small vertical handheld has fun stickers and it has good performance with good custom firmware options like Aros it's like the quintessential children's gift being the only vertical device of the four it's an easy decision on wether it's something you want and while we have seen clones of this device pop up now with better performance like the r35s or r 36s i still personally think that the RGB 20s is better overall especially on the control side of things just don't fall for those Tik Tok scams that say this can play cuphead and PS3 and all of that it can't then we jump to the rkade 2023 and I'm going to focus on the Wi-Fi version only as I don't consider the other to be worth it anymore The RK 2023 is in a weird spot nowadays there's just better options and better performance at this price point even if it actually is my favorite device of the four in this tier the main setback for this is the d-pad but if you can get over that this is a super comfortable small horizontal handheld that you could have a great time using it's just a price that no longer makes sense if you remember my am bernick video this is basically the RG 353 PS of that video a device that I really really like but it's just priced out on a similar note the x55 is the larger of these four seriously it's a large handheld it also has the biggest screen of any device in this price range with a 5 1/2 in 720p display there's a lot of people out there that have bad eyesight or need massive screens and don't mind that the size of the device doesn't come with an increase in performance and this would be for you it's sort of unique in the sub $100 price range for having this large screen besides the trim UI smart Pro as much as I want to say the price isn't worth it I know there's a cost associated with this screen that people will pay for so I can see how it makes sense I just don't think it's the best value in this tier and it's more of a niche scenario purchase but even I can't deny that Game Boy Advance games look really good on this screen but only if you're lucky enough to have the newest revision with the fixed screen lastly we have the RGB 30 there's a lot of good with this device it has a great design front firing speakers proper d-pad sticks and everything all in the right place this would be a better buy than the r RK 2023 the standout here is the 720p screen with the 1x1 aspect ratio making it a great way to play Game Boy games pic8 games n 8x7 SNES and more despite the fact that this device isn't my favorite comfort Wise It's a lot of people's favorite and there's a lot of good here and it's easy to see why out of the four that we've talked about so far in this tier if I had to pick one to gen recommend to everybody it would be this and buy a large margin just keep an eye out as it does have a ton of issues and battery is one of them that leaves us with two leftover devices the v90 and the x39 pro these are both in the niche tier that make sense in some limited situations but just aren't recommended anymore for various reasons the v90 can barely do PlayStation 1 it can do some some but not really a lot the main reason you'd buy this device is just for the novelty it's a small clamshell that just looks fun to use for a few times before it sits on the Shelf I've seen them go as low as 20ish us and it could be a fun novelty purchase at that price if you wanted something that's different than most of the other handhelds out there the x39 pro is a weirder one to talk about I look at it and the price and the 16x9 aspect ratio a large 4 and 1/2 in screen and you wonder how this isn't more popular then you realize that it can't properly run all PlayStation 1 games at full speed so there's that issue and then there's a massive lack of custom firmware with the included stock firmware just being bad I would easily skip this one no matter what price point as I'm not sure that I could even think of a proper use just case for it that's going to be it for this one this video was a lot harder to do because I'm not really a fan of Po Kitty products so while the Amber Nick video was really easy for me to do and I had some enthusiasm for it this one was a bit tougher but we have retroid coming up next and I think that one will be a lot easier for me to do don't forget to like and sub to help the channel grow and hope you all have a good [Music] one
