[Music] hey guys welcome back to my channel this is your first time here welcome my name is Mel I'm a digital Nomad based in Spain and a content creator today I'm going to be sharing with you my favorite locations for digital nomading over the past 4 years I have been traveling fulltime I visited around 30 countries in 2 cities so today I'm going to be breaking down my overall favorites and what I'm going to be looking at specifically is places that are made for Nomads and by made for Nomads the things we're going to be talking about is the infrastructure of the country obviously Wi-Fi is pretty important we're also going to be talking about the community that is there as well as safety as a female traveler and with a lot of my travels being solo safety is a huge thing that I look for when I'm picking a location so let's go ahead and get started so the first place I wanted to mention was obviously changu Bali I think that Bali has a huge appeal in the sense that it offers an amazing workspace for digital Nomads there is countless cafes where you can bring your laptop where you can work that really you can't find anywhere else my favorite thing about digital nomading and Bali was definitely the pools so I'd be working on my laptop be quite hot and then go for a dip in the pool that's really one of a kinds I haven't really seen that anywhere else besides Navy Mexico but that was really cool the other thing is the sense of community there is so many events every single day every single weekend for you to go out and meet people so I think it's really nice to be able to have like an instant community in Bali even just being in shenu for two weeks I had a group of friends and we were hanging out all the time so it was really easy for me to kind of get integrated into the community there and meet other Nomads however there are some reasons that I personally um don't think Bali is the overall best location for digital Nomads and I'll just link that video up here so you can go ahead and check that out but just to quickly cover it definitely the transportation situation as well as it just being a bit chaotic and a lot to deal with all the time um but you can go ahead and look into that now the other place that I wanted to mention is Buenos ciris so buenos ciris is amazing for Nomads number one it's super super affordable so you can get really nice Apartments um for very affordable prices as well as it does have great infrastructure so you're going to have very fast Wi-Fi as well as nice cafes to bring your laptop and there is a decent Community while I was in Buenos ciris I went to meetups that had around a 100 Nomads it wasn't as easy for me to find my people like in Bali but it was really easy to get to meet people and get to know other people that were working online there's also a lot of entrepreneurs and wi Osiris so I think this is an advantage the reason it isn't my top destination for digital Nomads is honestly the safety while I lived in Argentina as a small blonde female there were times that I felt uncomfortable you shouldn't really walk out in the street with your phone and then you have to go to the blue Market I have another video where I get into digital nomading and Buenos arus which I'll link up here but just because of the safety and the fact that I didn't feel super comfortable even like getting drunk at like a nightclub or anything like that just because of the men um it's not my top destination however if you are a guy and you're watching this video buos ciris is probably a good choice for you but if you are a girl definitely check out that video just so you can have some insight into what all buenos Siris entails now another one of my favorite destinations for digital Nomads is definitely Croatia so between split and Zagreb honestly you have the best of both worlds what I recommend doing is spending your Winters in Zagreb and your summers in Split now there is a good sense of community in both places it's not quite as big as buenos ciris or Bali but you are going to have meetups with 20 to 30 people there's a ton of cafes in Zagreb making it really perfect for working you'll have some in splits I'd say probably five six seven and there are some good co-working spaces but the reason that I love Croatia so much is definitely the quality of life everyone speaks English and it's super easy to get around and navigate I traveled in Croatia for about 9 months I never ran into a single problem so I think if you are a solo female traveler and you're looking for a location I think Croatia is a great place to start and I really just love the calm energy that is there and it does have a lot to offer in terms of mountains Ocean Beach all different things as well as amazing history now getting into the next location as I mentioned I am based in Spain and I'm particularly based in Valencia Spain so of course I'm a little bit biased but I do think Valencia Spain is one of the top locations for digital Nomads and right now is a bit underrated which I'm loving because not everyone is here um but what makes it such a great location first off is the weather so you've got more than 300 days of sunshine in Valencia really the coldest months are going to be January in February but it's January right now and as you can see I'm wearing a tank top it's about 65° outside so definitely have some warm weather as well is there is tons of cafes you do need to be careful of the ones that you can have your laptop as it is Spain it is more of a laid-back culture so they're not going to want a bunch of people working at all the cafes but probably within a 5 minute distance of where I live in rusafa there's about four different cafes that I go to as well as there is a good sense of community however what I have found is the community here is more exp pads and it does tend to be a little bit on the older crowd so if you are a digital Nomad in your early 20s maybe check out Madrid or Barcelona however if you're a nomad in your maybe in your late 20s or in your 30s or 40s I do think Valencia Spain's going to have a lot to offer and then the other thing that I love about it is it's honestly so so affordable it costs me like $50 a week for my groceries my rent is $400 a month so it's super super affordable for me to live here and the quality of life is just awesome it is a Spanish-speaking country and I'm actively learning Spanish um however I've been able to get around and manage so I think if you know Spanish great if you don't you will still get by and there's plenty of people that also speak English I do have a full guide to Valencia which I'll link up here so you can go ahead and check that out now another location that I think is honestly perfect for Nomads is Lisbon Portugal so Lisbon you're going to have all the benefits that you have in Spain however the community is going to be Amplified the thing that I loved about being in Lisbon was definitely the Meetup scene most of the meetups had 100 plus people and there is just so many people starting businesses in Lisbon so it's a really good place if you are wanting to network with other business owners or you're trying to figure out your footing as an entrepreneur or you just want to make some strong connections I really think Lisbon is the place to be and they have different slack channels different groups that make it really easy to be a part of the community I think the thing that sets Lis been aart from let's say like Bali or Thailand is people in Lisbon are actually going after the business ideas they have versus in Thailand and Bali you're going to have people a lot of talk but not a lot of actual doing um so I think if you are trying to grow your business and really Network and up level I think Lisbon's a perfect place to be now in terms of affordability it has gotten a lot more expensive um because so many exp pads have moved there so this is just something to consider I have a few friends that live there and they all pay over $1,200 a month for their apartments and of my friends pays 2,000 so it's definitely going to be a more pricey location depending on how you separate out your living situation but they do have a very attractive digital Nomad Visa which can turn into a permanent residency so I do think all around Lisbon has a lot to offer and you're going to have great weather not as much sun as Spain um but a really good sense of community now last but not least my number one destination for digital Nomads is Thailand I mean Thailand is perfect for Nomads you've got tons of cafes it's affordable you've got good infrastructure in most of Thailand my favorite places are definitely Chang Ma and kof Yong they both have a good sense of community making it really easy to meet other Nomads you've got a variety of weather so obviously in changai you've got the mountains which you can go up and do things in which is really nice and then in kofy Yang you've got the beach so the reason that I think Thailand is the best for Nomads affordability community and just a lot to do um and your money is just going to go so much further the only con I would say about Thailand is that if you are in any way tied to either the US time zone or the Europe time zone you might find it a little bit challenging but if you're totally time zone free definitely check out Thailand the people are so so sweet and the community there is just really awesome and if if you are looking for more of like a spiritual Community you're into yoga you're into meditation Thailand is definitely the place for you um and the whole time that I was in Thailand I felt at ease um and it was just really easy like I could get a good apartment I could find good food that was affordable I could go to number of cafes I could go and get my hair done I could have all the amenities that I wanted and for like a way lower price than what it would cost me to do it here in Spain so those are my overall top destinations for digital Nomads if I miss any locations please put them in the comments below if you have any thoughts on the places I mentioned put them in the comments below and if you have any specific topics that you'd like me to discuss about digital nomading just let me know and thanks for watching see you guys next time bye d
