[Music] [Applause] [Music] hi guys welcome back to another video or welcome if it's your first time my name is Dan and this is a video all about my favorite free plugins just to quit one if you like this video or any of my other stuff please like and subscribe it helps me out a great deal when creating future videos so we're living in a bit of a strange time at the moment with all this coronavirus stuff pretty much every musician is now back to being a bedroom musician whether you were or not before and a lot of us have neighbors and family and you can't be cranking those valve amps at home unfortunately so unless you want to go down the load box route which I will be covering in a future video your best option is to go down the digital rabbit hole and that either means moving to a hard dedicated hardware unit like the helix or the Kemper or looking into plugins and we're living in a time now where plugins are better than ever especially in the guitar realm there's some killer stuff out there and what I'm going to point out in this video is that some killer stuff out there for absolutely no money at all and we all love free stuff so let's get into it now even though all of the plugins and downloads that I'm going to mention in this video are free a lot of the sites also have paid content or allow you to make a donation so I would strongly urge you if you dig what you get hold of to either go for one of the paid options or just make a small donation even enough for a pipe to the guys that provided you with the free stuff so yeah definitely look after the creators so my first choice for downloading if you're looking to get into this kind of thing is a good IR loader this is gonna be your virtual speaker IRS are essentially a speaker simulation but they're captured in a way that is very interactive and very three-dimensional it's not just the an EQ curve like a lot of old traditional speaker Sims it's a proper living breathing model of a cabinet is the best way I can describe it I mean I don't really Stan this stuff I'm just pretended but all I know is it sounds good and sounds very realistic so my pick for a free IR loader is the Ignite amps let me get this right the Ignite amps nad IR or nad IR depending on how you look at it and ignite amps and stl tones I think they're 1:1 collaboration company I'm going to feature a lot on this list but I would strongly recommend download in that it lets you load up your impulses you can have two and blend them it's got some basic features like a built-in room sound a high and low shelf to tailor it and even a delay control to sort of face correct it if you're using multiple IR s so yeah that would be my recommendation for an IR loader and if you've now got your IR loader you're gonna need some ir s-- so like I said IRS our captures of mics and speakers and rooms and there's thousands and thousands out there on the web very easy to come by a lot of paid but there are some free ones that are really really good and so my pic number two my pic for the second download that you're gonna want is a free pack by red wires I'll leave all links down in the description and the pack is of four by twelve greenback cab and they give you four mics I think standard 57 and three I can't remember what they are off the top of my head but I'll put some up on the screen now and then within that you've got all of the available mic positions in relation to the cone that they've captured with those individual mics so you could end up with banks of thousands of these but I think that's a great place to start there really well libraries you can get to them very easily and understand exactly what is being captured and if you're like me then you'll find your favorite handful and put them in a folder somewhere where you can get to them easily and then every time you boot it up you can just open that library and you've got your selection of sounds [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] so now you've got your cabs and impulses sorted it's time for the fun stuff this is my favorite pics for free amp Sims available and the first one is another entry by ignite amps and stl tones their emissary plug-in is fantastic for the higher gain stuff but it wouldn't be my pick again all links will be below and they've got a full page of free downloads there so my picks would actually be they've got models of two different three channel preamps and a power amp sim and I'm gonna have to look at their names very quickly we've got the N n r1 and anvil preamps and then it's the TP a power amp so like the old rack units you can pair your preamp with your power amp then into your impulse which is your cab and there's some fantastic tones in there the nnr one is more of a high gain aggressive kind of preamp and the anvil was more of a hot rodded marshall kind of thing but they sound fantastic and they sound great even without the power amp plug-in but the power amp plug-in just adds some depth to it and what I was really surprised about with these preamps as well is the clean channel if you crank up the front end gain really nice clean sounds out of it as well and again now you've got the IR and the IR loader you can change cabs to find your perfect sound mixing and matching these preamps and I would strongly recommend going through the whole site of the Ignite amps downloads because they've got some great stuff as even some pedals on there but yeah I'll play you some tones now [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] my next pick for free app Sims is by a company called lipu and unfortunately the original site for these plugins is no longer live so I can only assume they're not really doing anything anymore but I found a site that lets you download them in from like a legacy library and these have been my most used app Sims I think since I've been doing home recording thanks to my buddy Dan at anchor baby studios for tipping me up tipping me off for these these are great and what you get is a Marshall sim and angle sim ms Ibuki rectifier sim a Soldano and my personal favorite which is a model of a Bogner ecstasy these are really really nice feeling amp sim so these ones simulate a full app so you've got the pre-op and the power amp it's all you need to do is load your ir's afterwards as the cab and you're off to the races so here's a few tones from these plugins [Music] [Music] my final pick for amp based plugins is the ML sound labs amped roots and it's the fluff version which models our 51:53 in collaboration with Ryan Bruce mr. fluff YouTube extraordinaire and this is fantastic for high gain stuff and what makes it even cooler if you're into that kind of thing and into your metal in your hard rock you've got not only a really nice built-in IR so you don't even need a caps in with this one if you don't want to we can turn it off load your own but you've also got a front-end pedal board virtual pedal board in there with a gate and a sort of tube screamer type of pedal to go to the front end and tighten it up a bit so this is great for the high gain there's even some lower gain sounds in there but I would say this really excels at that kind of thing so here's some tones [Music] [Applause] [Music] so you've got your amp and you got your cabs and you've got your sound so now let's talk about my favorite picks for free effects plugins my first pick is the Wampler terraform free algorithms that are given away I've actually done a full video on this and I will put a link somewhere be at the description or somewhere in this region if you want to check out the full range of tones but you get a free envelope filter you know vibe and dimension style chorus and with using plugins in addy aw you've kind of got an effects path just like you would with a pedal board so you can either place them before the app like you would before a preamp you can place it between the amplifier and the virtual cabinet so the cabinet still affects the the things that you're putting in there or you can put it straight afterwards for more of a HiFi stereo vibe but I would strongly recommend checking out these plugins and here is a few sounds [Music] [Music] [Music] my next pick for effects based plugins for guitar is the TSE Audio plugins this is a great little page that I stumbled across ages ago now I've had them on my computer for ages now to look back at where I actually got them from they offer a really good 808 style overdrive a really really good rat style pedal and also a sans Tex twenty-one sansamp bass preamp style plug-in as well and they're really really great sounding and feeling representations of those pedals so again like we were talking about with the order of effects all you do is load up your TS style pedal from them in front of your amp and go to town you can goose it just like you would a real amp so here's a few tones from those [Music] [Music] my final pic for free effects plugins to use with guitar is from a company called Valhalla and they make absolutely incredible plugins for very reasonable prices but they have a few free algorithms that you can you know get involved in now for nothing but as I said earlier in the video if you like what they do please look at spending a bit with them so the two free plugins they give you are the super massive which is a sort of reverb and delay plug-in that's just an absolute ambient machine there's some fantastic sounds in there it's a bit quirky to get used to the controls but there's some presets to have a go with and the other one is the freak echo and that's a more simple delay style plug-in but it's got some cool features being able to change the like frequency modulation of the repeats it's you've got to hear it to understand what I mean but it sort of gives you a modulation set low and high it gives you sort of mental ring mod sounds [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] you [Music] you [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that about sums it up for my current picks of free plugins available I'm sure there's loads more out there if you know of any good ones that I haven't included here either for guitar or just production please link them below because I'd be very interested I'm sure everyone watching this video would be interested too if you dig this video please like and subscribe it really helps me out and create a future content and I hope you have fun with all of these sounds the fact that they're all free is just absolutely wild to me let ours of hours and hours of fun so anyway take care of yourselves guys and I hope to see you in another video Cheers [Music]
