let's start with a list of those courses that have prospects towards permanent residency [Music] hello there chioma here once again thank you for stopping by here I really appreciate it today I want to discuss some of the courses you should consider studying instead for a better chance at permanent residency and I know I cannot continue to ignore the requests from some of you asking that I make an equivalent video of the courses you should study instead because you saw the other video I made a while back about the courses you should do your best to avoid so I am honoring this request but there's a few things I need to make clear first of all as I do in every video I need to remind you once again that I am not an education agent I am not a migration agent putting that aside I also want to make something really clear here there is not a singular course you can study that has the same prospects for everybody and I am going to explain that in a minute okay so please be patient with me and stick to the end of this video what is going to happen is that I will read off a list of all the courses that have a prospect towards permanent residency I am also going to categorize those courses according to the prospect level so high prospects medium Prospect and low Prospect but I also want you to keep in mind that it's a very loose categorization it's a very loose grouping which means that some courses might sit across all the different categories they might sit in high prospects medium Prospect and also low Prospect and you might also be surprised by the fact that some of the courses I am going to mention here I also mentioned them in the other videos where I talked about the courses you should avoid but like I said there's an explanation behind all of this so please don't click out of the video too quickly stay to the very end let's start with a list of those courses that have prospects towards permanent residency so there is nursing there is Midway free there is social work accounting I.T and computer science and I want you to know that if you are interested in studying towards these occupations you should be looking at a bachelor or a master please forget about the diplomas okay forget about the diplomas I will talk about the diplomas later actually let me talk about it now so studying a diploma towards these courses may not be enough in in the sense that they might not be the required qualification level to Grant you a legibility for permanent residency that's number one and then number two is that diplomas are considered very high risk in terms of your student visa application so a lot of people are getting their visa applications rejected because they have indicated interest in a diploma course here in Australia especially for applicants coming from certain countries and in this case I am talking about countries in Africa and maybe even in Asia so I would say ignore the diplomas all right and then moving on to the next Prospect level which I consider to be the medium Prospect level we have Bachelor of Human Services or master of Human Services if you can find that Bachelor or master of community services and development Bachelor of social science in a relevant Focus area so it shouldn't just be a generic Bachelor of social science it has to be a bachelor of social science with a focus area that is relevant to one of the occupations on the skilled occupation list so I made a video I'm just going to digress a little here I made a video previously about some courses that are approved by the Australian Community workers Association popularly known as acwa or Aqua okay so I did make a video about some occupations that are approved by Aqua towards permanent residency so these courses that I have just mentioned are courses you can study towards those occupations some of those occupations are welfare center manager welfare worker community worker Disability Services officer family support worker residential care worker and youth worker I am I'm referring to my notes obviously because I can carry all of this in my head so these are the occupations and then I have just read through a list of the courses you can study towards this occupation so when I say Bachelor of social science okay it has to be Bachelor of social science in a focus area relevant to one of these occupations for instance the University of South Australia offers a bachelor of social science with the focus on Aging and Disability right so make sure that your Bachelor of social science is not generic but that it has a major in one of these areas so there's also Bachelor of Applied social science and Community Services or Community Development there's lots of them right so that's it for medium Prospect um medium Prospect courses for these particular occupations and then you also have teaching so if you're if you're interested in teaching you might want to study a bachelor or a master of teaching again I have classified this in the medium prospects group okay and then for trade qualifications which would lead to occupations like Plumbing carpentry painting electrical and electronics engineering technician that's a mouthful you do not necessarily have to study a bachelor or a master degree as a matter of fact a lot of them only offer these courses at Advanced diploma or diploma levels however remember what I said about diplomas the fact that there's such a high risk around Visa applications for diplomas that is already a red flag that you want to pay attention to and another thing with the trades is that some of them are not even open to International enrollment so you can't even enroll into these courses while you're outside of Australia you may have a chance if you are unsure but that's for some of them so for the trade courses I have actually categorized them as low prospects that does not mean that there are not people who eventually qualify for permanent residency by studying some of these courses it just depends on those variables that I said we are going to discuss later so having listed all these courses let's go into the discussion [Music] have you liked this video yet you did know that I was going to ask right please take a moment to like this video and also subscribe while you're there because it doesn't take any time at all it just takes a few seconds and it is completely free you know that don't you thank you let's continue so now let's go into the discussion of the considerations the factors that can actually increase your prospects or decrease your prospects and I want you to know that this is completely individual so that is why I said one course does not have the same Prospect level for everybody let me give you a prime example here using myself I studied the master of social work right and I went ahead to apply almost immediately after I graduated because when I calculated my points I saw that I was above the cutoff even without work experience and social work is one of those occupations that does not have a strict requirement around work experience to qualify you for permanent residency as long as you meet the cutoff whether you have work experience or not as long as you studied an approved qualification which in this case has to be a bachelor degree minimum okay as long as you have that and you're above the cutoff and you meet all the other requirements you can go ahead and apply even without work experience and that was exactly what happened in my case but I know people who I studied together with who have still not gotten their permanent residency till now so there are lots of other variables some people are struggling with their age so they have not made the cutoff points and they have grown older they have lost points in age which means that they have to find an eligible job and work for a while to bump up their points before they can apply some other people are struggling with the English language proficiency requirements so you see that even though I would say that social work has a good Prospect towards permanent residency all those other requirements you must meet all those other requirements that are tied to eligibility for permanent residency are super important for you to consider as well because it it doesn't just end at studying the course there are other requirements you need to fulfill and if you are not fulfilling those requirements you might not have the same outcome as someone else who meets those requirements and that is also the reason why some of the courses that I have mentioned here I also mentioned in the other video to avoid for instance it computer science and accounting I did mention in the other video to avoid those courses and the reason I said that in that video was heavily based on my experience of interacting with people who have struggled struggled a lot by studying those courses accounting and I.T happened to be highly competitive courses as it stands right now you already need very high scores before you get invited to apply for these courses so imagine yourself as a mature age international student coming in from a completely unrelated background to study towards accounting or I.T in the first instance some of these occupations have a minimum work experience threshold that you must meet before you apply for PR so you come mean at mature age and then you still have to work after your studies for a few years and while you're working you're growing older which means that potentially you're still you're losing more points in the age category and then by the time you fulfill the work experience minimum requirements you find that you're still not meeting those very high scores to apply for permanent residency and you're very close to the age cutoff after which you do not have access to the skilled migration Visas so it's a struggle and let me be honest with you I have seen a lot of people struggle here and that is why I mentioned in that video for you to avoid those courses by all means but it might be a different story for you if perhaps you already have a previous qualification in accounting for instance let me use that as an example you already have a bachelor in accounting you already have some work experience under your belt and then you're coming into a Australia to study a masters it means that even your previous work experience your previous qualification can still count and bump up your points you will not be in the same position as someone who left another career entirely that has nothing to do with accounting and came into Australia to study accounting towards permanent residency the both of you would have very different Prospect levels and still on that note if you are a younger age student let's say you're still in your 20s you have better chances than someone who is let's say 38 39 or 40 years old you have enough time to come in study accounting and work for a good few years to bump up your points before you go ahead and apply and that is why I said it still comes down to your personal circumstance you need to pay attention to that yes because the study pathway is one that a lot of people consider to come into Australia some people are stepping away from their previous experience previous educational background and they are taking up a course that they think has a prospect towards permanent residency now this course has no relationship no connection with their previous experience and their previous educational background and when you do that you're basically starting from scratch remember that once you clock 44 your prospects reduce drastically almost to zero because after 44 you're not even gaining points in the age category anymore and it's going to be an uphill task for you to look for ways to compensate for the loss in points another consideration as well would be the range of Visa options that are available to the particular occupation you're studying towards this can also be a big thing because not every occupation has the full range of Visa options available to it let me give you an example I did mention about the occupations that are approved by Aqua that's acwa towards permanent residency now most of those occupations if not all of them are not open to the 189 Visa which is the skilled independent Visa what does this mean for you it means that you can only go through the 190 pathway the 190 is a permanent residency Visa so it's not a bad option as well but where the challenge is going to come in is that you need to specifically make sure that you go to a state that has these occupations listed on their own State list before you can progress with your permanent residency plans let me use an example a if maybe you're studying towards becoming a welfare worker okay and you're in New South Wales and New South Wales does not have welfare worker on their own State List It means that at some point you will have to make the decision to move to another state that has that occupation on their list because you can only nominate a state that has that occupation on their list you can only use the 190 Visa you can't use the 189 Visa if the 189 Visa were available to the welfare worker occupation then regardless of where you are in Australia you can nominate that occupation towards permanent residency but because in the states where you have come in to study maybe you didn't do your research before you came in there you do not have any prospects in that state by the time you're done with your studies and you would then have to start hopping around and this is a major major challenge that I have seen with a lot of people here the struggle of chasing after permanent residency from State state so you need to be really careful I made a whole video about all the things you must consider before you select a course to study before you arrive at a conclusion that this course has the best Prospect for me you need to make sure that you're following all those guidelines in how to choose a course I would highly recommend that video for you I'm going to leave a link in the description so if you want to actually know the prospect of a particular course for you me reading off a list here is not going to be of much use to you if you're not considering all those other factors that might actually pose a challenge in the progression of your plans I hope that this is making sense think about your age think about your previous work experience think about the work experience requirements for that particular occupation towards permanent residency think about language proficiency be very honest with yourself about your language capabilities you also want to consider whether it would be better for you to study in a regional area because that can also help to boost your points okay just by studying in a regional area but as I said please watch that video because there is more of an explanation there I went into so much detail there I am going to leave a link in the description and it is going to be the recommended video for you to watch right after this one so if you watch this video to the end it's going to pop up on the screen so that you just click on it and it takes you there my last words to you would be that you always base your decisions first of all I think this is the very first step base your decisions on the skilled occupation list there are a lot of other occupations that you can study towards that I didn't mention here okay there are lots of other occupations but for you to actually determine what the prospect is going to be for you you need to take into consideration all these factors that I have mentioned and I wish you you all the best my people don't forget to like this video on your way out and subscribe bye [Music]
