hey miles beckler here milesbeckler.com and in this video you're going to learn how to build your own sales funnel or marketing funnel on wordpress this is the comprehensive do-it-yourself sales funnel video we're going to be rolling up our sleeves we're going to be getting our hands dirty really hands-on screen share stuff i'm physically going to build out an entire website from scratch and build it into a funnel you're going to be able to follow along step by step you're going to be able to take the exact steps i take you're going to see exactly how to install and configure and get everything working together and by the end of the video if you follow step by step you will have a functional sales funnel or marketing funnel kind of same difference really and you'll be able to run traffic to this and you'll be able to start doing the facebook advertising and really kind of get into the money making activities that follow once you have an optimized sales funnel so why am i doing this is a really great question i want to jump into that and i want to answer that for you so in this world we live in today there are some funnel systems being aggressively promoted by just about everyone online in the make money space and most of these funnel systems will cost you over 10 times what a wordpress funnel will cost you and the funny part is you actually have more freedom for customizations for getting paid help from developers with a wordpress based funnel than you do with the closed system what you're gonna see here would will cost approximately 330 dollars per year to run the entire funnel that's hosting the themes everything you need to actually build a funnel out about 330 dollars per year if you were to recreate this on click funnels you would expect to pay somewhere closer to 3 600 per year and my goal here i could push click funnels at you and try to get a 40 recurring commission but i don't need that because i have a successful business already i really want to help you get something that's going to work for you so my goal is to help you build this funnel and then you take that extra 3 300 or so per year that you're saving i want to see you invest that into paid facebook ads i want you to run traffic and have that budget to work with that's almost a 10 a day budget for an entire year that's magical i mean literally you can build an entire business for that cost and i'm really excited to share this this is the exact system my wife and i use i'm going to show you how we set it up from scratch and a quick disclaimer i am an affiliate of these items that i'm going and showing you how to use the only reason i'm an affiliate for them is because i use them not because i'm going to quote unquote make money off of them but as anything all right that's enough introduction i believe we've got the housekeeping stuff out of the way let's jump in and get started i am so excited this man this has really been the the rubber meets the road for me in in my wife and our business um so here are the components you will need we are going to need a wordpress hosting setup you're going to need a specific wordpress theme we're going to cover where to get it which one you need how to install it and configure it and then the email autoresponder we're going to get all of these pieces working together and my goal is to do this in as few edits as possible i literally want you to be able to watch step by step and see a very real take on how long this actually takes um i need to grab this right here i need my wallet because i'm gonna be buying the hosting and that's where we're going next so miles beckler.com hosting i'm going to jump right in and get started here and this hosting when you go to milesbeckler.com hosting they will install wordpress for you which is awesome and when i first started i had to figure out how to install hosting through ftp and it drove me absolutely insane and i lost a few hairs from that so wordpress hosting you can see it starts at 3.92 cents per month it is incredibly cheap we're going to click the get started button here there's a couple of little add-ons we're going to purchase i'll explain those in the process but first it wants to know our domain and for this project i'm going to register a new domain i'm going to register diy sales funnel dot com diy sales funnel do it yourself sales funnel dot com if you already have your domain name and you simply want to leave it where it's at and point that here you would use this option i will use my existing domain and update my name servers they have help support that will show you exactly how to update the name servers super simple you log in to where your domain name is registered and then you go inside of the domain name and you tell it to point to the a2 hosting servers they tell you exactly what to point super easy so if you already have your domain do that but since i need a new domain and i'm starting from scratch diy sales funnel dot com cool let's check make sure that is available even though i did check it is available so the domain is going to cost me 15 bucks and that's all i want so i'm going to click continue here and you're going to notice the the price over here it kind of jumped right up they've got this big discount in for me already which is fantastic i appreciate that they defaulted me to 24 month billing for their best price i'm actually going to go with a 12 month billing i'm going to drop that price down here and you'll see it's already down to 52 dollars for an entire year unlimited disk space unlimited number of visits everything we need to get this up and running if you want to run multiple websites here you can also upgrade in the future now i want to get also a dedicated ip address i recommend you get the the dedicated ip address for the ssl certificate and i recommend that you get the ssl certificate if you're going to be running um doing seo work you would get the both of these items right and seo is essentially content marketing if you plan to make blog post after blog post after blog post get those we don't need to do it right now because we're just going to be building this funnel out and it's super easy so we're going to keep it on the cheap option just to show you again i want to show you the budget diy version in this additional options install perfect so this is important and i'm gonna bust out a notepad i love working with notepad on the side i've almost always got one open and i'm gonna be keeping my administrator this is the admin information that we're going to need to access our wordpress so grab this here because it's not going to be emailed to you so as you go through checkout take that make sure you're putting it somewhere and we keep going down down down don't want cloudflare nope perfect so i'm just going to check over here i got my web hosting 107 bucks i've got my discount of 55 bucks so annually see here it is 107 a year but it's 52 right now i'm going to click continue and i'm going to get started and let's do this here so one year don't need any of that i will choose personally i'm going to choose the id protection and that's because i don't want my information on my domain name to be kind of out there in the public eye it gets me uh you know keeps me out of the spammers eyeballs so i do recommend that and see domain name registration with the id protection check check everything looks good we click checkout and just give me a moment here all right i completed the checkout process in a2 and just a heads up as you go through that process to order the wordpress hosting you'll notice when you submit your order it actually kind of sits and that browser window has that spinny wheel for a couple of minutes it might have been three minutes total i think and the reason for this is it's not a transaction thing what they're doing is they're actually partitioning off your server space and they're installing wordpress for you their optimized version of wordpress that's all happening behind the scenes so be sure to leave your browser window open long enough and let that happen and once it's done you'll get to this screen here and it's got your order confirmation it'll have your order number for you and then it's got just the basic support contact just in case there's their number you could submit a ticket etc and again i did not order an ssl i do recommend that and at some point i'm going to add that on but i wanted to to show you what this looks like from a bare budget right going for the full bootstrap but if you got an ssl it would have that ssl certificate information there the next step we take we jump back into our inbox now from our inbox you'll notice there's a number of different emails that we've received from them this immediate verification you need to go through that process right away and just go ahead and open it and click on the verification and what you'll do is you'll verify your domain name because the the governing body of domain names needs to make sure you used a real email address if you don't verify that all hell can break loose i don't exactly know what happens just do it make it easy all right so then we're looking for this one it's from softaculous and it says a2 hosting your wordpress a2 optimize installation details click on that one and what we're going to do is we are going to copy this information the admin information and we're going to put that over on our notepad that's not my notepad that's my notepad so i build out this notepad as i said and this is kind of where i go to kind of manage everything about the website so i open a new tab pop that in here and you click on and it's your domain and i think it's always it might always be the same thing and you'll see this is our wordpress login situation now they have a captcha pre-installed this is not standard this is a security feature this is great because there's bots all around the world shady bots trying to hack into your site so i'm going to show you my plugins to protect that and then we put in our admin and then the password that we got on the checkout process which i will be changing so no need to try that there if you're sneaky sneaky and do that and click to remember me so put the cookie on my machine click log in and here we go so now we're in the wordpress dashboard this is like command center for all things wordpress and what we're gonna do i mean everything you do starts from within here it's really this is you're gonna get so comfortable operating in here and the good news is over time once we get this all set up there's like two or three things that you'll need to do on an ongoing basic or basis and that's it now when there's updates required on wordpress you'll notice a little bubble here and it'll have a little number up there with this kind of like arrow above and arrow down you want to keep all of your plugins and your wordpress updated at all times it's really really really important for you to push these updates out as they come live you simply click on them it tells you exactly what to do it's all automated i'll eventually do a video on that for you um it's a security thing that's why you need to do it so we are gonna jump in here and all kinds of fun stuff so we're gonna get our wordpress kind of foundation solidified and then we'll go on to the theme and the plugins so the first thing i want to do is we need to go into settings and we want to go to permalinks settings permalinks and we're going to load this now permalinks are what happens on your url structure and you can see that it's it's set to day and name so if you just build this out it's going to put the date in here sorry got my slack communication it's going to put in your day in here and all of the name this is what your url structure is going to look like that's not how we want it working we want it to work based off the post name so choose the post name option scroll down to the bottom and save changes and you can change your login url to something else if you want i do like leaving it their random thing because it's just another little security feature and there it is all of the um security or all of the settings on that have been updated i'm going to go ahead and disable slack real quick just so i don't get a bunch of updates seems like our team's coming online which is great now we go into plugins and i'm going to add a couple of plugins and i want you to do the same thing and we're going to add a security plugin and an seo plugin and this is really important stuff and i want to go down here and you'll see one moment here you know i'm actually going to remove jetpack i don't run jetpack so i'm going to deactivate it kind of cleaning house a little bit and you can run jetpack if you want if you know what it is great i feel like it's a little heavy and i've got again kind of my way of doing things i like to run as few plugins as possible on my website because every plugin you add slows down your site a little bit and every little bit counts it's really important the other one we're going to deactivate and delete is this w3 total cache and what happens is sometimes the w3 total cache unfortunately can conflict with the theme and the specifically the the content building plug-in that we're going to be using so we're going to be deleting that one next and then we get to move forward into the fun stuff oh there it is it's deleting i can deactivate it and there it goes it refreshes so we deactivate first and then we get to delete okay perfect and then i'm going to activate the akismet or akka cement or however you pronounce that it's an anti-spam and this is just this is just good form to be honest um you need to just make sure that no one's trying to run spam you really don't want anybody trying to spam your site so there we can click the set up your akismet account i think it's going to remember me i hope i hope i hope and you know what i'm going to do that in the future go through the process get that in there and it'll protect you from comment spam which is kind of rampant back to the plugins we go i'm going to keep this short and tidy i would go through that normally but you just don't need to see me go through that i'll end up doing that myself so here on the beginning at the top we have the add new i'm going to click add new and we're looking to add two plugins to what we're doing the first one we're going to do is yoast y o a s t s e o and then you click search and it'll pull it up i believe it's the red green yep so then you click the install now what yoast seo does is it gives us a little bit more control over the title and the description tag which we want just so everything we do looks neat and tidy in the search engines i'll be showing you how to use that in the future once we actually get into some of the kind of future components here and then we click activate and it goes the next one we're going to install is called word fence and the word fence plugin is a security plugin you know it's really important in this day and age with about 30 percent of websites running wordpress it is kind of targeted by some people who are up to no good but the good news is that you have an already optimized version from a2 which is hardened and strengthened which is great and then this wordfence security is the only security plug-in that i run i do have a paid version on my main site the reason for that is because we get so much traffic we're a really big target if you're just starting out there's no need to go with the the paid one you just click activate and we're gonna go in we're gonna play with a couple of quick little settings here and it's going to activate here in a second you see the wheel up here and we always want to let it do what it does when we when we click something we uh we just we want that to really go so this when we click something sorry i'm going to finish my sentence when we click something in wordpress and it's loading we want to give it be patient because what's happening is we're actually working on a server and something's going on on the server and you want to let that kind of execution finish before you move on to the next thing so have a little patience in here but it's really easy to work with this congratulations popped up is from the word friends you can go through the full tour i would recommend it it's a great plugin it's the only security plugin i use and now you can see it down here so you can see we just installed these two plugins and you can see that they pop up here and they have more options this is how wordpress works and you see this little red ball here that is the same kind of a notification bubble you'll see when something has an update you can see the yoast has this up top they've got two notifications for you so what i want to do right now is i want to go inside of word fence for a quick minute i want to go to the word friends options click there it's going to bring me in and it just wants to take me on the tour you could do that i do recommend going through that on your own time click on the options and end the tour thank you so what i'm looking for is down towards the bottom right here so the rate limiting rules i immediately block the fake google crawlers i'm going to click anyone's requests exceed let's see here i'm going to do 10 per minute if anybody's hammering your site trying to do 10 things per minute i'm going to stop them i'm going to let the crawlers work if they find 404s at more than 60 a minute one a second if a human page views are over 10 per minute human page view is there i'm going to go 10 per minute 404 for verbals 10 per minute and when an ip address is blocked i'm going to set it for one day so essentially if people come in and try to try to fiddle with stuff we'll say they're going to get locked out quickly and they'll be locked out you can extend those periods of times i use very loose numbers here i have tighter numbers um to try to prevent that on my big site because again we're kind of a target because we get so many um my goodness we get so much traffic so there you can see my changes have been saved perfect i'm in this is really exciting i'm so excited to have you here with me at this point this like working within wordpress no joke this has been like a million dollar skill for my wife and i to learn this so on the left side you'll notice posts and pages this is really all we're going to be doing you're going to be adding mostly pages for the funnel and if you do go into content marketing you're going to be mostly doing posts over here and what we need to do next i've got the plugins i want to go settings i want to get the site title dialed in now the site title is actually what displays up here in the bar right so you can see like they have their title up there and i've got them really small so you can't actually see them but let's go here you can see the site title defaults to my blog wordpress blog and we want to change that so we want to say diy sales funnel perfect go scroll down the bottom click save changes just kind of tidying things up a little bit right here is all we're doing at this point so now we've got that set up i want to go really quickly check plugins make sure i did actually get out that one caching plugin that has conflict perfect we are good so now let's go back to this next step so wordpress hosting is installed we're really not that far into the process and the next is to go get our theme so let's go jump in to milesbeckler.com forward slash thrive and get our theme and just one moment now this is thrive themes and the reason i love thrive themes there's actually about three reasons i love thrive themes number one they load incredibly fast and page speed is super important right now number two they're mobile responsive and more and more people are on mobile devices google actually for my website a year and a half ago we crossed the 50 50 mark where more than 50 percent of our traffic came from mobile google is i'm like 80 20. we do about 80 of our traffic from mobile at this point google is now seeing more searches from mobile than desktop for the first time ever and that just happened late last year so it's important to have those things and then we can build the funnel on this and they have so many cool conversion functionalities so when you're here we want to click on the just to get all our products and the reason we need all the products is because we're going to be using three separate components in order that they're all kind of run and managed here in order to build out our funnel and our business online so we scroll down and then we're looking for the thrive membership is what we actually want now there's two ways you can get the thrive membership there's the 19 a month paid annually that's the best deal but you do have the option and i want to show you in here where is that option there is an option to get it quarterly and i will show you where to find that just in case you want it quarterly and that's why i clicked here is because i know they have it and there it is so you just flip this little switch and it's 25 a month if you pay 30 bucks a month if you pay quarterly so you do pay more quarterly but it's less out of pocket for you either one works but you ultimately do need the thrive membership now the reason there's two different options here this is if you are going to use thrive themes and you're going to be building websites for clients if you build websites that you're going to sell to the local massage therapist and the local plumber and you want to use thrive themes to sell you need the agency membership that's a developer's license that gives you the ability to build and sell websites but if you're just building this for your own purposes you can use a thrive membership you can use it on an unlimited number of your websites which is super powerful this is the membership i have if i was doing the um the marketing arbitrage if you're familiar with my marketing arbitrage program which is a free program i put out on youtube you would want the agency membership option because then you could resell them so go ahead and grab this go through the checkout process get that started and what you'll end up getting is access and you'll be able to log in i'm going to go ahead and log in right now just because i've already purchased this as i said i do use these products i'm not showing you things i don't use right like my biggest most valuable two three websites are all four five web all all of my websites now that i think about it all 12 of them are here so we're inside of the members area i'm gonna give you a quick super quick tour of this because there's a few things you want to kind of pay attention to the forums right here are super powerful for you getting started this is where you can go in and discuss with the administrators the creators the support team and there's like thousands of friendly friendly people and you get your own profile and you come in and have conversations about the different plugins general discussion it's a closed forum only for paid people and then you could talk about the different themes because they do have different themes so this is a really powerful if you get stuck or if something's not working right take a screenshot come in here inside of the forums put up a new post and say hey i'm trying to get it to do this and it's doing that what's going on and they could be they're super helpful in here to help you figure it all out again we're at the conversions this right here is incredibly powerful i love their theme hacks as well so pay attention to this and go through this content because this content is really your education on how to get the most out of this investment in your business i love thrive personally i think this is hands down i've tried so many thrives i've built or so many themes i've built well over 500 websites i've built in in the years i've been doing this at this point so highly highly recommend it um the support forum what else anything else we need to touch on real quick demo websites will allow you to see the different themes i'm just going to go grab one count and license okay this is where you need to go so you need to go in the license key you need to actually get your license key um your license key i'm probably not going to show mine that's you could see it right there i will scramble that out so get your license key because you need to actually put that inside of the wordpress and then i'm going and it's just so you can kind of um so they can verify that you are a real customer and we're gonna go back here and i'm gonna grab the products is that right behind my head i might be moving my screen um but right now my my little picture and picture is up here on the right and i'm wondering if the the link i want is hidden behind that so if it's moved and you hear me talking about my head in the top right you don't see it that's because i moved it afterwards post production and your product there it is okay cool so what we want for this is you just scroll down on the main one and you get the plugins what we're going to get is first thing we want to do we want to download thrive leads we want to download the content builder and i'm going to talk about a couple of others real quick too desktop there it is put it in here save that download this one save that now onto the themes you'll see that they have several different themes and each of these themes are designed to give you kind of a different look in a different starting place for your website but since we're going to build a funnel we're going to kind of override the themes it's still beneficial to use the thrive theme themes because the code they use for the theme works with the content builder plugin that we're going to work they work together to make a really good experience for kind of the google bots and for humans and for the way it all displays there's no conflicts in the code and that's why i think you have to go with the thrive membership i'm going to get the squared theme and i'm going to download the squared theme because it has what's called the apprentice feature the apprentice feature is a way to layout and structure content in a member's area or in a course to where you can have like module one lesson one two three module two lesson one two three that's how you can build info courses that's how you can build modulated courses and membership programs and keep it really organized it's not on every single one of their themes if you want to know which ones have it you can google it i just know for a fact it's on squared because that's what my membership site runs on so now you can see i've got all three of these things downloaded perfect i'm going back in so what do we grab just to cover a theme yup got squared and then we got two plugins for now we got the thrive leads and the content builder the one thing that i'm starting to test and i'm really excited about is the thrive quiz builder and it's a way to ask people questions before they opt in so they can segment themselves based on their answer and you could respond and you could say hey are you interested in facebook ads are you interested in marketing funnels or are you interested in hot dogs and they'll check a box and then after that you can opt them in hot dogs of all things my goodness um it's getting late ladies and gentlemen and then when they go on your list you can put them on a separate list and then you can treat them separately so if someone comes in from the facebook ad side i could talk to them more about facebook versus someone who comes in for hot dogs i would talk to them about hot dogs anyways moving right along let's get back inside of the wordpress dashboard so i'm inside of the wordpress dashboard and the first place i'm going to go is to the themes and themes is under appearance and you're gonna go hover over appearance and click themes and it's gonna load the theme dashboard and these are the default wordpress themes these are great themes they're fantastic to work on i just think they take way too much customization to get the way i like so i'm going to add new and really to get the functionality i like so i'm going to click add new and then i click upload theme and it wants me to choose the file so i choose the file and we're literally just going to take that exact zip file let's see here i need to go to desktop and then i need to go to this one and squared we're going to open that we're going to install now and you just give it a minute you can see down here in the bottom left corner oh if i move uh in the bottom left corner it says uploading 11 and it's going through the process of uploading and what i'm doing is i'm uploading a theme the theme is the template right the theme is the look and design of the site and this is one of the most powerful parts of wordpress especially when you start doing content marketing because you can make these global changes across your entire website really really easily if you want to add something here or move the logo below the navigation you can just simply set that up it's really really easy and then it duplicates off of every page and post you've ever made except your funnels because we're going to be building the funnel ones a little bit different in a way that protects them from those kinds of things really really powerful stuff so you can see it's now unpacking the package it's installing the theme and this is that kind of thing i was talking about we have to be a little bit patient here and what i'm going to do is this is we're going to go through this process of uploading a few things and there's another step i can take so what we're going to do in a new window to multitask and make the most of it is i'm going to get a list started in the autoresponder now a quick word on autoresponders you can use any autoresponder you want they all do integrate in with thrive themes i use aweber i like aweber their deliverability is awesome i'm also using active campaign the reason i'm recommending and going through this process with aweber from the start is because it's simple they give you a month free it's 30 day free trial it's 19 a month after that but honestly this has been investing in a good email list management system has has just revolutionized our business because your email manager your email list is your business i mean ultimately that's that's it so you can see the theme installed successfully i'm going to go ahead and move on to the next we'll get we'll get a new tab going with the the email stuff here soon and you can live preview if you want i'm just going to activate it because i'm going to we're going to override the home page so i really don't care what it looks like right now at all i'm just getting this like core code base for the theme in place we're going to work on customizing this and making it look cool in the future so while that's activating did i click that i think i did while that's activating we're going to go here and we're going to go to miles beckler slash aweber you you with me on the multitasking you got this i know you can we're gonna go back there it is so now you can see that squared is my active theme in fact i'm not going to go multitask i'm going to keep focused i want to keep this focus for you so i apologize for that little tangent but we're going to stick with it here so now we have the squared theme there's all kinds of customized i will do a future video on how to customize this for now we're just setting up the funnel so let's dig in we need to go back into the plugins next and we need to add new plugin and i just hovered over it and clicked add new and it's going to load that and dismiss so now it wants me to activate my theme and we're going to go ahead and do that and this is again that that thrive manager kind of activation it wants to know who we are and it wants to make sure that we are paid customers and that's a good thing the reason we like to be paid customers is because their developers continue to upgrade and update and as security breaches are found they install patches they're always adding new stuff so my annual fee that i'm so happy to pay for them it goes to a good cause of people making sure these things are update they're fast they work adding new features to me it's just so far beyond what free themes what you get with free themes so now back to plugins at this point and we're gonna go to add new and then you can see this button here upload the plugin i'm gonna dismiss that just to kind of keep it clean upload the plugin choose file i'm going to start with thrive leads click open install now and what's going on is it's uploading you can see in the bottom left of the screen i can't move the mouse over it or disappear we're at 50 60 uploading a couple of pieces you're going to need moving forward you're going to need a headline for your squeeze page we're also going to need an image for your squeeze page but that's really about it so thinking about the headline i'm building obviously a do-it-yourself site for diy sales funnel so if you want while you're kind of going through this process be thinking about these kinds of headlines you should really already know what your hook is what your point is and and how you're going to be kind of like what you're going to be giving away if you haven't seen those videos on how to create a good giveaway um i'll definitely put them in the description if this is on youtube if this is not on youtube it'll be below the video somewhere to help you or it'll be in a follow-up email to show you you can see at this point we are installing the plug-in and it just takes a quick second we're effectively manipulating another computer in cyberspace this is really awesome awesome stuff click activate back in the day adding this kind of functionality to a website took i mean weeks and weeks of coding and i'm literally able to spend 150 bucks from thrive and get literally like months worth of awesome code that allows me to do all these really cool things i'm going to click add new again we're going to add our second plugin that we downloaded from them and we click upload plugin choose file and now this one's going to be the con the visual editor open install now so at this point we will have added three separate items right we removed the caching plug-in we added a few plug-ins but really the core of what we've added here is our theme i chose squared theme you can look through all the different thrive themes if you'd like then we're adding these two plugins number one is the thrive leads and what this is going to do is this is the portion of the thrive code base or the thrive system that merges and links with the autoresponder right because we need to get thrive talking to our autoresponder and that's through the thrive leads plugin then the thrive visual editor allows us to kind of create funnels we're going to be able to create the opt-in page the sales page the thank you page etc etc and we're going to go we're going all the way there in this video i'm taking you we're going to the promised land this is this is happening you can see that we're unpacking the package at this point i'm having a good time i hope you're having a good time this is the last thing we need to install so after this is done there shouldn't be much more of this kind of delay stuff headline for your opt-in page i created already a um what's called a bridge video and it's a video i have of me talking on that i'm going to put on the page they see after they opt in this is a part of my affiliate marketing funnel and that's the funnel that i'm actually building right now this is going to be an affiliate marketing funnel it's a very simple funnel it's very powerful to get going click activate plug-in right here and we're gonna be up and running here in a heartbeat so you can see i mean it has taken some time right and but all in all like i've built a website now we're gonna actually build the important pages i got a little checklist here i'm going to go real quick over it um membership yeah yeah content builder thrive please install them cool so at this point i'm going to set up the first pages um let's see here let's go into pages click on all pages so we're going to create our first page i'm going to create the opt-in page right now and at some point in this we're going to kind of bounce back and forth from aweber but i'm going to get a little bit farther down the road you can see it's got a sample page for us here i'm going to delete that in a moment but i want to add a new one first i'm going to click add new and it's just going to pop it up here so this is the page editor if you've never seen it before super duper simple stuff we have a title we have a media area but this button is our magic button when we added the visual editor plugin this is what we added and this is what we use to create all of our funnel but just to show you around a little bit more you can see down here at the bottom this is the yoast seo plugin that we installed and what we're gonna i'm gonna show you in a minute here is how to use some of these advanced settings to no follow and essentially hide your thank you pages from google so people can't google your website and find the thank you pages or find the pages where you deliver the products cool so the title on this one i'm gonna call this one free diy sales funnel click tab and what happens is you can see the permalink pops up and since we updated our permalinks it simply pulls this title here free dash diy dash sales funnel that's great i want this to be human readable if it comes out goofy or if it lets off an a and you want to add it you simply click edit it brings this up you click ok once you've made your changes next step i'm going to do here is i'm going to click publish and you might be like miles you just set it up right but i want to save the title i want to save the permalink now you can see page publish and allow me to view page i don't want to view it yet because i haven't done anything we're going to get into some meat and potatoes finally i know you've been waiting for this right you've been like miles come on let's build it that's what we're doing now and this is this is the fun part so this is showing you what might scare you at first where this is a very very kind of plain jane version of their squared theme with no content in it and i'll tell you right now if you've looked at your site or previewed your site websites look absolutely ridiculously terrible and kind of scary if there's no content on them right it's not until you get pictures and images and lots of text and the about page and the navigation and the logo and all these different things it's not so you get all those things in place that a website looks good but since we're only building a funnel right now that doesn't matter we're going to override this i just want to give you that kind of like discretionary moment of just in case you went and looked and had kind of like a oh no kind of a moment it's okay we're going to overwrite this in a couple of clicks future videos i'll show you how to kind of customize this to make it look kind of fancy schmancy if you want to start doing some blogging and whatnot so what do we do we come over here to the thrive landing pages drop down and we're going to go ahead and choose a landing page what this does is this is essentially pulling up what is i would call the the kind of competition to click funnels or leadpages is this here and you can see on the left we have these tags they've actually done a favor for us and tagged all of our different opt-in pages with all these different things you can start with a blank page i don't recommend doing that it's a lot it's actually a lot you know so what we want to look for here are some pages that we like and what i sometimes do is i'll check the lead gen and the two step and it'll update these i believe or do i need to click something no i think it's i think that's it and what do i want to do so let's just take those two clicks off ah it does okay cool so i want i want a two-step and a two-step is one that has a button on it that when you click a button you get a little pop-up right and this is based on the influence tactic it's a micro commitment it really increases conversions they work really really well and this is the one i'm going to use on the left i'm going to go ahead and jump in on the elementary sales pay sale elementary video sales page and i'm going to load the landing page and with the magic of wordpress and persistence and awesome hosting and an awesome theme and plugin you will notice that now my homepage or my my free diy sales funnel page looks totally totally different so this is actually a sales page right this is actually an opt-in page and that's what i'm going to build here and to build this i don't have a logo right now so i'm just literally going to delete this you notice when i hover over these sections you see this big x up here just click that x and that whole thing leaves you can see this is a duplicate function this is an x now my goal in this video before i jump in is not to show you everything everything thrive can do everything this content builder plugin can do go into the thrive university go into the forum go into the training that you have access to i'm showing you how to get one up and running and get it going quick something that will actually work something you could drive traffic to convert leads and convert sales with because that's what that's where the rubber meets the road when you want to customize this and tweak it and get it to do other things awesome just use their training and their system to learn how to do that so now i'm clicking in the headline area i'm able to just highlight this whole thing i can click delete and perfect so that's my headline right i decided and kind of thought this out a little bit my first test on the headline is i want to help them build a diy marketing funnel that's going to save them money that's kind of my angle right that's my hook is like don't waste all this money with these closed platforms learn how to do it yourself and save 32 36 per year and i'm going to put a quote down in here cool i'm going to go ahead and put that in quotes it's in quotes i'm now going to click here on this i want to change this image so i click now you can every time you click on one of these areas you're going to get sometimes it's different options right like the text area has different options than this does so i click here and i'm i'm always kind of looking around for okay what is my image there it is so change image on the left i'm gonna click that i don't have anything uploaded so i'm gonna go ahead and upload i'm gonna upload my picture right because i'm saying that quote that is a quote from me so let's select files and you get to see man i might have to run around on my computer to find this where do i have that picture select files one quick second here ah and you know what i have my pop-up blocker running i bet it's been my pop-up blockers holding this whole thing so i am going to in one moment here click save changes now i'm going to turn off my pop-up blocker all great advertisers run ad blockers of course and it's going to load and this should definitely or this should let me in we'll see if not i'll go another way around it change image upload select files all right so this is giving me a little hiccup i don't exactly know why and i'm okay with that because now what i'm going to do is i'm going to go and control click on this dashboard here actually you can go to new also so right here on new i'm going to new media control click this is going to take me directly into the media manager i'm going to select a file from here so this is in my media manager and let me just real quick go in and pull my websites where's beckley.com just one moment headshot perfect and it's uploading there it is so now that is up in place so now i can come back here and when i click on let me see here i refresh this and if you haven't seen already my video that i put out uh man last week is when i recorded it from from when i'm recording this one but my video that's about adapting and perseverance like this is par for the course right sometimes i don't expect everything to work perfectly every time i just don't expect it and that saves me a lot of heartache and there's always a workaround and there's always a way you might have to go into the forums to figure that out i don't know but there's always a way where there's a will there's a way so i've just found my work around and i'm going to put little dash miles beckler there and let's see if i want to make this a little bolder how would that look um that's too much bold so i'll build my name i want a little contrast in here is what i'm going for i'm going to go ahead and i'll really reinforce that number i'ma bold this perfect perfect perfect so we're pretty close now you notice there's a lot of head space up here right and that's because i deleted a few things so i'm going to click on this and there's always every every piece on here that you click on and you see the little red line around here if i hover here it shows you what you're about to click on it highlights it different so i'm going to click here and i'm going to look at the margins and paddings you can see there's this hundred pixel padding up top i'm gonna turn that to zero and you'll notice there we go now that's all in place click here to get started um let's actually do i'm gonna do free video reveals i'm really going to twist that knife right there see how that works cool free video reveals how to build it since leaving click funnels i built a better sales funnel saves me over three thousand dollars per year now if i wanted to change this font like let's say i didn't like this font you can click here on the custom fonts and you can choose i would always choose web standard fonts because the web standard fonts are faster loading there i like that a lot better i'm going to use that now i've got a little head space i want to go ahead and move my margins and paddings i'm going to take top down to zero and all i'm doing now is i'm just playing with these little tiny components to try to where's my margins and paddings there it is top i'm gonna go to zero perfect i really wanna tighten it up is what i wanted to show and display quickly i'm thinking of mobile users right like a mobile screen so small i need to make sure this all fits really neat and tidy here i think it looks great so far if i want to make my image smaller i just click on the image which i just did it pops up this box and i can just go whoop maybe drop that down to where it's about the same height there it is that looks about the same height now let's figure out what's going on down here with this extra space bottom i'll drop that to 50 let's see what that does okay that might have been the other thing and perfect x out of here save changes a couple of things couple of things with thrive always save your work as often as you can just just get used to click that save changes button you change something up here go back to save changes you do something over here go back to save changes you will thank me later i promise the more you can save the better you just never know when when you do something and it all gets jumbled and it doesn't go back the way you want also if you do need to go back you have this little arrow back and it will kind of like roll back the last thing you did that helps but sometimes it doesn't pick things up depends on what you're editing that's why click and save changes is just the savior so really habituate that i'm trying to move this button up a little bit more margins and paddings top let's do zero boom all right now i'm happy save changes so right there we have now not only installed wordpress installer themes and our plugins and everything we've actually built the landing page and let's go ahead and preview that real quick i'm gonna i've awesome click here to get started now you notice this is set up but we don't actually have access it's not tied in everything we're going to get there i'm going to get there in a heartbeat but the one other thing i want to do is customize that text so the whole point of this this is a two step right step one is they click step two is they enter their email address the whole point of doing a two-step is when they look at this button all they got to do is click a button so their mind is like i'll do that like that it's just clicking a button and when they click it brings the pop-up on the front-facing site you can see here with this black bar up top that shows wordpress and the question tve true we're editing it right but when we're in the actual item so the user reads this they're like cool i want that click and now it asks them for their email their guard was down and now they're like okay they want my email address for this here's the cool part psychologically they've already taken a step down the path and the likelihood of them finishing the process and actually giving their email address goes up significantly because they've already taken one step in your direction that's why these things are powerful so let's jump in here we click this and you'll notice there's an event manager button the event manager button is where we get in to manage what that event is when you click and you'll see it's already got a thrive light box in there this is a part of that thrive leads system that we installed it all happened automatically since we had that in place click edit this light box and now we get a new editor window and it's going to be the pop-up so now we're editing the pop-up right so here i'm going to go ahead and type um cool cool and i'll take three lines if if i could right i might sit here and play with it play with the wording to try to get this down to two lines to make it really neat and tidy because again i'm thinking mobile users so we need to get aweber tied in at this point in order to get this button working um this is really the the next phase and the next part so what do we do we come over here to the email autoresponder so let's go over to milesbeckler.com aweber and get in there we're going to create the list and we're going to kind of get that tied in and integrated so we have a functional funnel so let's head on over there and get this going open a new tab getting a little crazy on my tabs here now aweber offers a 30-day trial and at that point it goes to 19 a month for your first 500 subscribers my wife and i hesitated to be perfectly honest and to get started on the free trial you just click the green button on the top right corner we hesitated to go for a paid autoresponder when we first got going we felt that the cost per month was just too much if we were starting at zero but i can tell you that great lists of tens and hundreds of thousands of subscribers all start with zero and you really have to build on a system that can kind of grow with you now again i use a few of these aweber is the one i think is the simplest and quickest to get going and honestly price wise it's it's like give or take like one month with certain amount it's a little bit more expensive and the other times when you have a certain number of subscribers it's a little less expensive than the others so it really is kind of a net even thing i'm just going to click log in but again you want to go in the free trial when you just when you click free trial you just start your free trial right here super easy to go um their support is fantastic i will say that about them they're there they help and i'm just going to log in to get started um i've got a bunch of lists already in here i've got a bunch of kind of stuff moving around and um what we're going to do is we're just going to jump in and create a new list so on the top i click manage lists and i'm going to click create a list pretty simple stuff now company name is going to be diy sales funnel and obviously you want to fill this out with your information and which address do we want to use we are 519 west 22nd yep yep center name we want this to be miles beckler and this is really important you always want to actually set up an email address that is at your domain you never ever ever ever ever want to use a gmail account or a yahoo account it's just always going to go to spam when google or yahoo sees that you're bulk mailing with a reply to from there so now i don't have this set up right like as you know i've seen that i haven't got that set up so i'm gonna come over here and i'm gonna put in my notes set up miles at diy sales dot com and i keep these little notes for myself and let's do a thank you so i know what to do thank you and then forward slash freebie cool so just little notes just to keep me on track to keep us moving forward so we can get this done as best and quickly as we can so list name is going to be diy sales funnel learn to build a sales funnel pretty fancy stuff here this is kind of mainly internal this does get seen by subscribers if they um or when they unsubscribe or if they unsubscribe so you know be sure it's like readable from your prospects you don't want anything like oh these are the prospects that didn't buy can't say you know like you don't want anything awkward in there um so then it brings us straight into the approval confirmation and we're gonna do choose a pre-approved subject line and so i'm gonna start there and then down here click the edit button perfect just kind of fill that out i want to make it a little bit more personal thank you miles beckler i never signed things full name so let's just kind of like i said make it look real this is an automated thing and i just want it to look as good as we can straight from the get go this is our double opt-in we're going to approve the message and create that list and really this is it right so now we've got this list set up and you can see up top we've got the current list diy sales funnel is set up something we're going to need to do in here and let's actually let's just do it right here so let's go in we go messages legacy follow-up series like i said we're going to need to kind of go back and forth to integrate these so i'm going to run a plain text message and i'm doing messages legacy follow-up series i'm going to start my follow-up so after they subscribe and they confirm this is the first email that's going to generate automatically this is where i deliver their actual item that they're opting in for so your free diy so now i'm just making up this get the this url here and what i got to do now is i got to copy this because now i actually have to remember to create this right like this is the delivery and that's the the important part so that's what this url was kind of in place for perfect and that's it i mean i'm talking i'm keeping this simple right at this point they've they've opted in they've kind of jumped through my hoops and now it's time to just give them what they're asking for so i click save it's saved i click save and exit on this and it's going to take me out of here and now i've got the funnel set up i've got the first let's see here and then what i want to do is send options add to follow-up series and it is interval it is number one track clicks sure your free thing is there add to follow-up series success love love seeing success and there it is so now we've got this done and i'm going to be done in aweber at this point what you will want to do however is you want to build out your autoresponder sequence we need to go into the jab jab jab right hook mode here you need to give give give of yourself so what i would do in these next three emails and it's really easy to set it up in the next three emails you just create a message and follow that same process is i would tell a bit about my story about how i got to where i'm at about how these funnels have helped and maybe a case study give give give and then if i want to offer a product at the end of that i would offer make a product offer in about the third fourth or fifth actually no since number one's there in the fourth fifth or sixth email they receive i would make another offer attempting to get them to purchase something to monetize that same idea that i'm going with cool at this point we're done right we're good in here so now i want to go back in and i want to connect aweber with thrive so we go back over to our wordpress dashboard and then we want to click on the thrive options so we're going to go down to thrive dashboard and then we're gonna do there's an api connection and that's what we're looking for it's called api i don't know what it stands for it doesn't really mean that much to me other than it's the method in which websites and web apps communicate with each other so all i am add is here is the thrive dashboard and i'm going to click on manage connections under api connections when i click it's going to load up this box and essentially this is the physical process of linking and i click add new connection of linking my thrive themes website securely with my aweber account so when somebody subscribes on thrive that subscriber can get placed on my correct list on aweber and then go through my follow-up sequence and all that magic happens so i choose a weber i click connect it's going to ask me now to log in obviously i have to give it permission and let's click allow access and it's authenticating the account voila so now we've synced those together which is the super cool super powerful part of this again this is uh absolute magic happening in the background that i know nothing about but it works and that's all i care about we're going to go into the pages now so at this point aweber's linkedin and now i need to get a weber tied into my free diy sales funnel so let's click on edit with thrive content builder is one place to click to get in if we simply click edit then we can click this button here edit with thrive content builder i'm showing the different ways to access this once you've built a page the other way is if you actually visit the url and you're logged in as the administrator you can see up top you have this bar here and then you can click the edit with thrive content builder here all three of those options will take you back into the thrive editor now we've already got this dialed we like the way this works and i'm going to click there we click click on the button just in case you didn't catch that and then i click the event manager this takes us into the pop-up i'm going to click edit this light box which is the pop-up and open that up in a new tab for me up here and i've already got this set up and now i click the yes sign me up button and i connect it with a service and at this point i can create a new connection with something i have an api on and we should be able there it is so i created the connection i chose api and now since aweber is in there it automatically has a weber and i click this drop down to look for my list which is right there on bottom which is perfect and i click save now what i want to do is this is where i control what content i'm receiving from people you notice the name field is display as no and that's exactly what i want i don't really want that display field um after action after sign up i want to send them to a redirect to a url this is the other last page i'm going to have to create and slash slash thank you i'm going to copy this oops excuse me get to the right page here and i'm going to paste that right there and click save so now i've actually set this up and now this is actually live one thing i really don't like this yes sign me up so we click on here and you're gonna see where is it it is on the edit components on the submit button now i have access to [Music] the actual button text so yes um the free what am i calling it the free course free video and that's it so i can click x on that you can see yes send me the free video perfect click save changes now my lightbox is good i'm happy with that let's go in to here i can close this event i jump back to the other tab just so you can follow click here to get started that's pretty weak i'm going to go ahead and where is the button font button font so under event manager no it's around here somewhere first i'm going to go to the dashboard by just simply clicking the diy sales funnel and then the dashboard and this is again like the home inside of wordpress and i want to go into settings here and i think readings settings so i'm going to hover over settings and then there's the reading i believe so where i get to select what my home page is and you can see right here front page displays and i want it to be a static page front page free diy sales funnel that's it you should see yours automatically pop up i click save changes and it's going to save that and now what i've done is i've set it to where this url should if we did this correctly which i think we did will actually be my landing page so now the site's a funnel right so the home page is and this is what i meant by ignore the look of that theme it doesn't really matter because boom we've got this here so now oh we are getting so close so i can paste it this is awesome let's go into the pages here and what we're going to do is i am going to we're going to start a new page but we're going to do this the easy way because i want to quickly get through this for you and i love this tool this is something that only works if you have thrive themes and this content builder installed you see this clone button here so cool i'mma click clone right there and just in a second with a wave of my magic non-existent wand we have literally cloned out that entire page right but here's the thing i don't want all of that on the page right i want to put in this one's going to be my video that is my thank you video so what i'm going to do first is you notice it changed the title clone of clone of i don't like that so i'm going to change it to thank you because this is my thank you page and i'm going to click edit i'm going to type in thank you click ok then i click publish because i need to save these two changes before i go inside of the content builder they save on different buttons if you will like the save button found in here is different than the save button right down here so now i'm going to go to my notepad and i'm going to check funnel.com thank you perfect so this is the actual exact place that i already have set up in aweber easy peasy let's go into the edit with thrive content builder now this page is totally different right i don't want this to be an opt-in what i want this to do is house my video so what it's going to say above is all right request received let's do this got to make it kind of make it look pretty got to make it look pretty and i want this to fit on one line this is kind of one of those things i'm let's just call it it's important to me now 32 didn't cut it let's just drop it down to 30. no 28 come on there it is perfect so now it's on one one line i can handle settings on this now before we get into this so it makes sense because you might be like well miles what do you mean what are you doing i recorded as i mentioned earlier i recorded a video that was built our website up to be the authority in our little niche that we are now dominating and because we've done this google sends us hundreds and hundreds of thousands of visitors per month we get about 750 000 visits to our website per month and our funnel right it helps tens of thousands of those people per month join our list we offer them products and that's how our business runs it's all take this it's called the url slug if you care which you shouldn't but that's just what it is i'll paste that in there click ok perfect now there's one other thing we do on this page right so i want to hide this page from the search engines because this is my meat and potatoes i want to make sure people have to go often before they find this page and i'm not using a membership plugin or anything so i come down here to the yoast seo i click the gear wheel and i click the no follow and then i go down here and it's no index right so now i have set this to no index no follow and i'm coming right back up to the top i'm going to click publish now it's saved this url is now set this title set and it's now hidden from the search engines i'm going to click the button to get into the actual content builder perfect here is the free diy sales funnel video enjoy i'm going to go ahead down here i'm going to delete this i'm going to delete this i am going to click here and i'm going to remove this url it's going to take that out but it's going to leave the big i am going to delete this whole box and i'm trying to set this up for myself so i can clearly and quickly remember where i'm at i'm going to go drop a new one in there and i want the responsive video where are you just watching video drop that in there so now i'll click that i'm gonna click save changes so once this video that you're watching that i'm recording that's not up and live yet is done i'll come back into this page here and i'll add the video and you know what i'm going to do just to show you good measure because this is so important because it's nothing like running traffic to a funnel that's that's not fully functional um perfect save changes one more time and that's it like we've literally built this like i'm impressed so it's it's about eight o'clock at night here for me i started this i don't know maybe three four o'clock i began the process to lay this all out my goal was to show you that it's possible within a few hours to go through the entire process of setting up and building it out and in those four hours i've been rendering and i've cut a few times to render this out in a few bite-sized pieces and i'm all gonna merge them all together in one big video for you on youtube that you've now watched and the fact that you're here at the end of this and watch the end is magnificent it's one of those videos you're probably going to have to watch a few times you might come up with a bunch of notes it's not meant to be the be-all end-all training on thrive themes and creating a wordpress funnel the goal of this video has really truly been to help you see how easy it actually is because there's so many fake so well not fake software's but there's so many overpriced over hyped softwares out there claiming that the only way to get the result of a sales or marketing funnel is through their software and that's just flat out that's a lie it's a bold face lie and
