Best Big Fluke (Flounder) Fishing in Years - After One Small Change!

hours I couldn't get a keeper and then all these big fish and we're out of Eastern Long Island we've got about a 45 mile run we're on Rick's boat and we've got uh cliff and Jonathan with us and uh yeah I'll tell you for the first two and a half hours I could not catch a fish I made one small change and it turned the whole thing around for me all right I'll have links to all of the gear in the uh our good friend John halkus is already out there ahead of us he's got a charter and we're gonna check in with him see how he's doing moving the right way but just slow not like the other day how much weight all right all right okay you heard him say very little drift huh well we stopped the boat we had we were basically stationary we were 0.1 mile an hour so uh yeah we've dropped the trolling motor immediately for this first drift and uh you'll hear some discussion here about trying Hey if we do this right these lines should go straight back a little bit and um we should be able to fish both sides of the boat no you what you're doing feels pretty good yeah I mean I Mike my line is straight back it's not angling out or anything and more feels like I have and I feel like I could even have a a three so what you're doing now is really good yeah you're feeling there Cliff good yeah what do you got all right we're doing like uh 0.5.6 miles an hour oh he does and I'm on two here I have a small fish yeah he's got a good one yeah I have junk all right Rick you still got him over there big ass fish oh okay I got a fluke here too but she already okay we're catching fluke already that's a big ass fish oh am I oh it's smaller than I thought that's what all right Jonathan's just coming back with a second keeper a smoke keeper uh that Cliff caught so we've got two in the Box on this first troll thank you even point four is better than having to use the trolling motor yeah right so wisely at the end of that troll uh Rick cut the power on the trolling motor and then watched and saw from the GPS so we're moving at 0.4 miles an hour without the trolling motor we would love to be between like 0.5 and 1.3 um you know we decide we're going to just do natural drifts if uh if it stays above 0.4 so all right he's got a swing and keep all right so we've got three small Keepers pretty quick here it's gonna be good yeah he's good there's our 13 to go no no I do this every trip and it works yeah I started at 14. haha oh he got off yep okay I'm up I'm up okay finish up Mr Skinner what okay all right I'm coming up there with a net somebody's gonna need it all right I'm coming foreign makeup from the last trip good fish that's a good one there we go and what about you shorty all right so I got four tickets all right I think I can just beautiful here let's take the whole thing and leave the net back there oh yeah really easy keeper yeah all right four guys in the boat New York state laws we can come back in with 16 fish four per person so you'll hear us Counting rock cliff oh yeah it's a big fish then okay I'm coming I'm coming I'm coming he's got one here foreign oh boy what's with the why is it going out that way because he's spinner oh no no no no no take that back big fish big fish in the mouth ready yeah keep going you know what to do very good no drama not as big as I thought when I saw that bend but it's a great fish not you know not as good as uh I think if you're one day off it ain't gonna make a big difference hey what do you got there Jonathan hey we're gonna go for a third third fish on this all right you want them let me get them I'll take them I'll take them yeah yeah coming on up Jonathan yep coming coming walking across the The Gauntlet there yeah it's a good one yeah so that's three on this drift yeah if you want to count the one I hook in the side oh that's a nice one Jonathan because you can see him way down yep I know you are you can see him he looks so much bigger down far it's a nice fish though all right thank you right nine more to go come on if I could just contribute get there oh did you ever have a trip which seems like you're just not gonna catch and that's what's what I'm feeling like right now all right gonna make a change you know I know I've said a lot about the orange gulp recently I should have listened to myself because I switched over to the blue fuse it had worked pretty well last trip I should have put the orange on here we go with the arm I haven't been stopped in a while but I don't think I pointed at anything you want to get past me no maybe I might have to use yeah I would get a net I wouldn't be surprised if he's fouled to be honest with you because I just foul everything no I could be all right he's definitely a fluke oh that's gonna be good for Luke it's a good fluke yeah nice 10 pounder coming up no well that's a big ass finally compatible to well maybe a little bigger than almost it's the biggest one today don't be minimizing my first legitimately in the mouth this is the first keeper you caught all day well if you if you talk about where the hook is but according to you know what law enforcement I have two keepers yeah that's true with that sure you do I hate when that happens it gets another one okay thank God okay thank you hey we're halfway there wow it's a nice fish Jesus yeah it's thick oh my God he was barely hooked wow okay this is the same drift in our drifts this day are lasting about 15 minutes oh this is a good one oh boy it's a really good one okay I didn't get any kind of hook set because I thought it was bottom whoa give me a Mark that proof but I don't do that one the symbol off on the left that looks like a little flag yeah and then push okay in the bottom coming over coming over yeah I just switched over you know that's bigger than the other one for sure hey this is a good drift for me oh I was having so much trouble catching anything whoa he took wine oh hey and he fell off in the net too Netter because I'm up what's what's he saying coming up my dealer okay that's what we want to hear it's a hell of a drift here oh holy this is a single Bucktail too salmon no nuclear chicken oh that's a nice fish that's right I thought it was bigger it's not what he thought it was yeah all right I'm Gonna Leave You that net hey John and uh can you hand me that other net behind you so I can put one in the back thanks hell the drift Rick recharge no oh yeah oh yeah good one yeah yeah really good really good really really good whatever you want to clean it no okay I'll rob a lot of care that's a good fish this might be wow that might have another one this could be like a I want to be in the video for a change you need to get hit your line out of the way please do that Cliff please [Music] all right it's too late he's already in you ah what the hell happened all right well let's just oh that's me no pressure and then we'll I'm gonna let it slide yeah all right down the line spicy food yeah wow monster okay we're gonna keep moving it's gonna be awfully close yeah let's do it and I was white I don't think he's gonna make it guys yeah yeah that was my fish on the salmon again no white white Bucktail I think he's gonna he's gonna be more uh he's not gonna make it oh he's not gonna make nine uh ten rather okay all right I can get this out of here all right so that's that I'll look at it but I think you know we're talking eight and a half he's not as anywhere as near as big as we thought what do you got coming up there yeah oh yeah okay ready there you go way to go John all right four to go oh that's a fish all right this is a real one yeah I said real one because I had just had a falcon short fish come on okay thanks yeah real nice one now I know the last couple have been on the Bucktail and the white but I didn't start getting any until I put that um salmon red gulp on the teaser got the smallest one I'm putting in the Box um again white on the on the Bucktail actually yeah it's not small well he ate that sucker I wish I'd started oh there you go where you got that cliff Netter yeah yeah I'm coming on over no I got him I got him over just later it's swingable done come on two to two to go come on Skinner stop catching fish Rick yeah I need that for sure he's always catching fish back there it's another good one too it's a good one okay he's cool enough you know what it's time you and me got a camera well you noticed it wasn't until Rick started having some troubles that I got a chance to catch otherwise he cleans up and I I run around with the net and I don't get to catch any oh there's a nice one coming though yeah he's a nice one coming in full speed salmon that's a nice one thank you [Music] I'm trying to get the teeth out of it [Music] anyway [Music] wow that's a good fish when you can't get your hand around them that's a good one all right we've been out about four hours and we are one fish away from our aluminum is that it attaboy that's it we're out of here well we can fish for Dd's area big enough it's not a big Sean Skinner fish like but you know look at that how is that huh thank you oh is your line still down John I'm okay though I'm right here oh what are we doing are we done I thought we're done what time is it last time yeah of course one one more drift two more drifts all right if you didn't see my previous video we had a very similar trip and we limited quickly and um decided to do one more drift and then uh we had a ten and a quarter pounder so uh yeah we're trying to duplicate that oh man um you know what I had the shakes and then I didn't have the shakes and you know what uh we're already at the limit so it doesn't matter I think I fouled one is what I did I think he's yet another he's another foul hooked fish look at that in the tail oh a winter flounder winter flounder should I look that up John uh I I wouldn't no they are not we can't bring that into New York winter flounder is a blast from the past right there little mouth yeah a little mouth bye yeah like 30 years ago and earlier those things paved the bottoms of Long Island bays and then just kind of disappeared how many people 24. yeah right who's gonna cut 24 fish up here we go John it's not a 10 pounder it's not a 10. yeah it's over five great day again thank you so much you guys are a pleasure except for cliff hang on I got a good bite to please shut up you're all a pleasure to have on the boat except for cliff what's up wow yeah you are a lucky fish we're back one of the small ones I know I have to say he is kidding yeah right all right you watch out for those
