I'm Justin Davis and this is Joe Camp's RC [Music] guys welcome back to the Drone camps Channel yeah that's right you heard it right this is the best-selling fpv drone in history of the fpv hobby so if you're looking to get into flying something like a five inch freestyle drone or a racing drone this is the ultimate Gateway for most people out there in our hobby so many people have started out with this one I have talked to countless people at the field and at the races and it just our local meetups who have started out with a tiny hook they also have an analog version that you can get they also have an easy pilot version which is a little cheaper than this one but if you want something that would kind of make like the Ultimate gift for the holidays coming up this one is pretty unbeatable because it also has the new HD zero goggles and video transmission system what does that mean analog is going to look like VHS tape kind of like old school 80s TV and this one is going to look like really nice 720p to 1080p looking television video on your Flats screen so it's beautiful in the goggles and it also gives you a battery voltage on the screen lets you know all kinds of cool Telemetry on the screen which I'm going to show you I'm going to record this video on these goggles now you can start out flying line of sight which is what I recommend start out flying at line of sight in your house in stability mode and later on put the goggles on next you'll be a much better pilot if you learn how to fly as a beginner starting out in line of sight that just means watching it fly around your living room learn all the angles how to make it fly out and come back and once you do goggle up and you go inside the fpv goggles you're just going to be so much better of a pilot so start out line of sight move over to fpv you can also go from line of sight to using this as a monitor because this comes off the goggles for a standalone monitor which can also Mount to this with a GoPro style mount it also comes in the box that's kind of neat I'm going to show you all the accessories and everything that comes with this kit coming up after the flight test and without further Ado I have to go ahead and and take you flying around the house maybe a little outside flying as well and show you the different flight modes without the brand new tiny Hawk HD has on it so let's go ahead and get started with some fun flying here we go okay so this is where it starts to get foam we're gonna fly around the house I'm gonna go ahead and press record on the goggles if you press long press on the OK button right there you'll see a little red light pop up at the top right of your screen that means you're recording video down to your micro SD card so if you let it sit there for a long time it's going to start to overheat and you'll see some static pop up on the screen so we're gonna go ahead now we're gonna fly in beginner mode I'm gonna arm it and we're gonna attempt to just kind of cruise and when you're first learning how to fly you really want to just go easy on these sticks big movements will cause drastic things to happen so I'm just going to show you an example of a big movement right there and look how much faster it goes with a little more movement in the stick so you can get going pretty fast even though you're in stability mode and the trick here to Flying slow is to bring your camera angle all the way down to level and that will let you pretty much fly this slow anywhere you want to go you can explore things try to fly gaps and of course sometimes crash now one tip is when you crash you look at your camera because this little camera right here is tiltable so if you want to go super fast you can tilt it all the way up to like almost 45 degrees there but I usually keep it for indoor I keep it around almost like five to ten degrees almost kind of straight ahead so I can really slow down and fly through those gaps and make those tight gaps super fun so we're gonna go ahead and start recording now I'm gonna stop the previous recording and I'm going to start a new recording now and we're gonna again fly in beginner mode I'm gonna go ahead and press the arm button we're going to go ahead and take off okay here we go and I like to take off the counter because it gives me a little bit of height coming off the counter you can also launch off the floor if that's not uh your style if you don't want to do it off the counter it's totally fine whatever makes you feel more comfortable this is all about you in the beginning and just learning how to become comfortable flying an SUV drone and I'm gonna try to slow way down go behind the stove pipe there oh so if you bump something big things happen it'll show you right away that you made a mistake and sometimes you just get lucky and make that Gap and that's what's fun about fpv drones and so you're seeing what is being recorded down to the SD card which is pretty cool now let's see if we can make the slow book shelf Gap up here this is a pretty hard Gap right there and I've been flying for fpv for about 10 years now so this this might be making it look easier than it really is and I've already flown this battery quite a few times so it's already getting low but this is pretty much beginner mode so now we're going to move on to the next intermediate mode and then we'll try out some expert mode outside so I'm going to come in for a landing hopefully I don't hit anything right on my Landing Pad here I'm going to disarm and there we go so let's go ahead and try out the next mode intermediate now it's important not to fly your LiPO batteries too low past the nominal voltage you'll see this one's about 3.8 volt for the HV battery and HV is a little bit different than standard LiPo battery voltage this one's going to charge up to about 4.35 volt when you start up the quad the first time you do it you see it on the screen that's what you should see 4.35 volt sometimes it'll be a little bit under that and depending on how old your batteries are you'll start to see lower voltage over time so that means you need to probably replace it after a while if you see it start to swell as well if you have a kind of a puffy looking lipo that means you want to kind of cut these off expose the wires and put them in some salt water and discharge them in the salt water then you can throw them away otherwise you're kind of having some dangerous stuff around your house so you want to make sure that you dispose of your lipos properly so I'm going to go ahead put this next battery in there I'm going to see how this one does this is the all line 450 battery and we're going to test out some of that intermediate mode with the new tiny hook so I'm going to go ahead and plug it in here we're going to start recording in the goggles and these goggles are adjustable by the way they can go in and out depending on your vision and everybody's different so I'm a little bit nearsighted so I have to move them all the way out for my vision so I'm going to long press on the OK button again and I see it's recording there and I'm going to go ahead and flip over into intermediate mode before we start and let's go ahead and take off and do some intermediate flying now arm switch there we go so now we can go a little faster around the house and a lot faster so here I'm not really trying to make gaps I'm just trying to kind of like race around my house feel the speed but it's not letting me do a complete flip which is kind of cool and we could try this mode out later outside when we try out expert mode outside and expert mode is where we have no stabilization so if you've never flown an fpv drone before this is intermediate mode which again gives us more angle of attack lets us fly a little faster take more chances at high speed if you had Gates around your house if you were racing these which some people do this gets to be a lot of fun they also have events sometimes in the winter rent places out like at bars and nightclubs but yeah super cool and it's it's flying pretty good so I like this mode a lot more because well I've been flying for a long time it is it just feels good so you can see your voltage on the bottom left hand side of the screen on your goggles and uh you can tell when you're getting too low and these batteries will get warm if they get a little bit too low on the voltage side or if you just fly it pretty hard you'll see that the battery comes off the quad pretty warm but the good news is that the motors are those are staying pretty pretty cool if you have a bad tune on a quad sometimes you'll notice that the motors get hot or if you have a broken prop or something like that a lot of variables in this fpv racing game but this will definitely get you started flying fpv and have you wanting more uh it's kind of a journey into fpv and you don't have to do it spending a lot of money so let's go outside now I love this mode this is great I got a low battery situation because I flew super fast but let's go outside now and let's fly expert mode outside okay my friends this is where it starts to get really fun in your Journey expert mode will allow you to do flips and rolls and make some pretty fast lines around your yard if you're new to lines around your yard that just means looking ahead of where you're flying and picking the best route available and sometimes we have things in the way like an unexpected goal post like that so you'll have to get used to kind of flying um and being on your toes and this is what Acro mode is kind of the Holy Grail of fpv freestyle most people that are learning how to fly eventually get here and when you do that's when things get really fun so for me it's fun because we can go up we can kind of explore the trees do fun little flowy Maneuvers and the more you fly the more you'll notice that you have a better flow about your flowing and right here I'm moving pretty quick so the tiny Hawk 3 is is it's pretty fast um I would say it's it has a pretty smooth tune on here the flips and the rolls are fairly slow and right there I had enough throttle to kind of come out of that almost bottomed out in the grass but I was able to make it around and right now this battery seems to be a little bit low because I did fly earlier but what I really wanted you to see is how smooth it flies even in the expert mode in comparison to intermediate this one's probably uh quite a bit harder for a beginner so this is something if you have a simulator fly the simulator first crash on the simulator a bunch and pick your best days pick your best days with no wind you're definitely going to have the best experience in this expert mode but even you know s uh expert guys do crash as well so happens to us all but let's go back to the bench now and let me show you the Emax tinyhawk HD ready to fly bundle and let's talk about what I think about it okay guys let's check out what comes with the tiny Hawk HD the brand new 2023 Edition this is the box and not a lot has changed here it has that sort of same purple finish on here this nice thick zipper that goes all the way around and it has a grab handle on the top with a little bit of rubber coating I'm going to go ahead and open that up and now it shows you everything in the box that you get so this combo has everything you need to fly fpv all in one box which is super cool and that's one of the reasons why it's so popular and now I mean obviously there's a lot of reasons why it's more popular now because of the fact that the screen is detachable from the goggles the transmitter has been updated with the full size gimbal sticks on here which feel more like an fpv race quad we have this one s650 battery which is also going to be available and we have some changes to the tiny Hawk itself we have a newly redesigned top plate here it's movable and adjustable we got the downward facing motors for probably the best flying characteristics and the brand new HD zero on here and we can also get into betaflight with this version and make changes for the flight modes which is a lot of fun as a beginner you're going to have to learn that as you go and this is a good way to start outside of building your own quads we always do recommend that if you want to learn how to build your own quad this is definitely a good channel to watch but let's go ahead and show you what what's in the box as well what you get for the price emacs does give you quite a bit of stuff inside the Box you get the quad you get a disclaimer you get National and international support for support card and online resources some stickers and you also get a propeller warning and how to put the propellers on make sure they're returning the right direction if you break one you also get two firmware update cables an allen key a 1s650 milliamp battery as well as a six up charger this will plug into any USB AC outlet and charge up to six batteries at once and it does charge HV batteries which is nice up to 4.3 volts and you get the Emax E8 transmitter with the full size sticks and all the flight modes already programmed and all the modes are already set up in betaflight which is super nice you get the goggles themselves and you get the monitor that has magnets on the front they just snap right onto the front of the goggles and then you're ready to fpv and as far as the goggles are concerned it doesn't look like a lot has changed here they do have this rubber gasket that goes around this little magnifying glass here it's sort of a plastic magnifier that enlarges the image makes it a little more clear and zooms into the screen these have four magnets on the front and it also has a clear plastic cover over top of your screen which you can peel off which will make it look even better I was flying with it on so if you do that you're just gonna fly much better but this also has a built-in fan long pressing this power button right here will turn on the unit and it also has that little spot on the bottom for putting onto a tripod or onto your transmitter it comes with all this GoPro style hardware inside the box so that you can add it and fly sort of line aside if you want to now it comes up in scan mode first and what you want to do is turn on your transmitter by long pressing the power button and then take a battery and plug into the Drone for your pH 2.0 connector and you should remember that you can use other batteries besides Emax batteries which is super cool we have that tiltable camera here and once you attach your drone to the monitor you'll see it come up like that and the Beeper sounds like it's going off so you want to make sure all your switches are facing forward when you power everything up so you don't hear that beeper but the Beeper is very useful out in the field so if you crash say in some tall grass and you can't find it just flip this switch on the right and you activate your beeper and if we look a little bit closer at this transmitter you can see that this has a disarm or arm drone switch that arms it just like that and beginner mode intermediate mode and expert mode is all the way down on the right hand side up top we have a beeper which I showed you before and flip over mode which is also called Turtle mode the E8 transmitter does have an 18650 in here and it's already set to go I got that from emacs with mine so hopefully you get one with yours and it is chargeable with a USBC cable on the very bottom of this transmitter which is super cool now you may be able to hear the fan running here and this fan is really important because during my testing with it I don't know if the other reviewers are going to tell you this but my unit did crash during recording so I lost a few videos after this had overheated and I would say today it's about 60 degrees outside but at the very top of the screen you can see the channel that you're on I'm on a race band 6 right there you can see my full signal on the right there and also see that red dot that means that I'm recording a video and to start and stop the video you can long press the OK button and that should turn that red dot to a gray button if it crashes it's likely that it might not turn off for you and it might just keep recording in that case you have to restart your monitor down at the bottom part of the screen you can see that it has tiny Hawk 3 there it's in angle mode and when you switch that you'll see it turn on the screen to Horizon mode and then all the way down to air mode which is Acro mode as well as your current battery voltage the name of the Quad th3 HD this is the ready to fly one and the time elapse that you've been flying as well as the milliwatt that you're powered on the very right hand far side of the screen at 25 and it will change up to 200. and race band Six again and if you go to the back you look at these buttons on the back here we have okay Power the mode button if you long press that it'll take you into the mode screen and the playback for your DVR on the side is our SD card support here is for firmware updates and this little switch on the very bottom right here is to put it into boot mode for firmware updates and over here is our USBC port to charge the 1S Battery inside and if you look at the screen close you'll notice that you're starting to see some kind of diagonal lines here static lines that means that a VTX is overheating currently and again if you like to get to the playback just flip over to the back and long press the mode button and it's going to pull up the menus when you do that you'll see a few different things here you'll see scan RS playback format the SD card record media record format record OSD auto scan and about that'll tell you which firmware version you're on if you look on the back of the monitor you'll see an up and down arrow on this side go ahead and press up or down to make a selection we're going to press down to playback and that'll bring us into our DVR and Playback and we can hit the OK button there to make a selection so hit playback right there and that's going to take us into the videos that we've recorded now we can use the up down arrows again to select which video we want to watch so if we go over to the right we can go back to the left so that's pretty cool so if you want to play a video you can just press the OK button on the right and that's going to start playing this video and what I noticed about this version that I got recently is that there isn't a lot of lag in this video so and if the monitor is not hot it's it's going to play even better and as it starts to heat up you know earlier it was doing a little bit better and now I see a little bit of stutter now that I have you on here so this is the stutter that you're going to see when this fan kicks on and this monitor does start to get hot so that might be one drawback that the stutter is kind of still here a little bit of playback delay it was working great earlier and now it's not but um yeah as you can see that's the way you get to that if you long press I believe it was the M button again that will take you back out of the DVR and now we're back on the main menu screen and that's pretty much it it's a pretty easy to use system here and HD zero is quite nice aside from the DVR lag and to turn your monitor off all you have to do is long press here on this power button and it will turn off and you'll hear the fan stop so this version for me it's pretty good I do have some pros and cons to talk about in this video and it wouldn't be a review without that so I think my my first con let me just jump right into the cons was that I did get some overheating on my HD zero Monitor and it did cause my DVR to crash and give me a solid red light that I could not get rid of that's one thing there after I was flying for you know hours and hours during the day it just got hot on me and that's why they have the the built-in fan there on the front of this version of it so if it was happening before this this didn't really clear that up and I was hoping that would but I also like the the transmitter I I think that the E8 transmitter with the full-size gimbal sticks is super great and I also love that everything is labeled here for you when you get it you kind of need to know what things are what I also like is the fact that this one does have betaflight on here and we can go inside betaflight now with the USBC and you have to make sure it's a data cable before you try to plug this in because if it's not it's just not going to load up in betaflight and I do like the way this quad looks and for beginners it does have Plug and Play Motors here so if you blow out a motor you get say carpet up inside here and you wind your motor out and it burns up you all you have to do is unplug that and put a new motor in they also give you the world's smallest screwdriver in there to take these little tiny screws off which is kind of cool this little kind of screw on the side is also the same type of screw that's on the motor mount so you pretty much have the same type of Phillips head screws all the way around here and I don't really see any hardware on here that is kind of an M2 or M1 type of Bolt so that's pretty Universal as far as working on this little quad it should be kind of easy I would like to see that maybe they use a strap instead of rubber bands maybe in future versions I would love to see a maybe a 2s version of a tiny Hawk as well for a little more power but I thought that the ease of use out of the box that's kind of what we're looking for here for as far as a beginner and super friendly easy to use quad that pretty much any anyone can fly my son or daughter could fly this and they have been flying fpv if you've been watching my channel for a while they were flying the High singing quad a while back and now they'll be flying this one as well because they can turn the camera down and they can really go slow around the house and learn the sticks and uh our boys are really taken off with fpv lately so that's good to see I also think that the dipole antenna it works out pretty good and you can crank up the VTX to go a little bit further out in your backyard and the four blade props they also seem to work good I did after a few crashes I had a little bit of a wobble on the high end of the throttle I did notice so that may be one con as well that I wasn't really expecting out of this quad because everything is pretty much perfectly placed on here and nothing seemed to be loose but maybe the accelerometer didn't load when I kind of went to to put it back down a lot of times if that happens to you and you have some wobble unplug the battery plug it back in and make sure it's sitting flat and then take back off and you should be good but overall I think it's a fun little design I this kind of reminds me of a bat for some reason I don't know Batman looking in the front here just in time for Halloween of course we're all decorated here at the house so we're super excited for Halloween and I hope you are too and make sure you check out our other review of the tiny Hawk freestyle 2 the 2s version that came out and that one's also HD and it has a much thicker carbon frame on there so that one's going to be a fun review as well coming up on the channel a lot of cool fun stuff and fpv West is coming up for October at the end of this month so if you're brand new to fpv you should definitely definitely join us for that you can check out our Facebook link down below and the link for the brand new tiny Hawk HD ready to fly Edition guys take care and I'm Justin Davis I will see you on the next one bye-bye [Music] thank you [Music]
