hey guys raythrough here today i am bringing you a full settings guide that covers not only in-game apex settings but it'll also cover nvidia settings and my auto exec launch options to help your game run the best it can and look the best it can without sacrificing your frame rate we'll go ahead and get started starting with in game settings under the gameplay section the first setting interact prompt style this changes how much information is displayed when you hover over an item i use compact as it displays very little because i already know what all the items in the game do i don't need to be told when an extended mag or sniper stock or a 3x scope looks like however for newer players you may want to change this to default it shows you more information about what it can be used on as well as a small little description so you actually know what loot you want to prioritize or what these special hop-ups do our second tip button hints it shows little buttons underneath each of the elements of the hud to kind of give you a reminder of what buttons you want to press i play with this on personally just show i play with this on personally just so people can see that i play on mnk and kind of you know see what key binds i use but if you want a cleaner hud i would recommend turning this off it puts less on your screen even though it's marginal and it just makes your game look a little bit cleaner for our third option here crosshair damage feedback this gives you a hit marker on your screen for when you actually hit a target with an ability or a gun or anything like that whenever you deal damaged enemy i recommend having this at least on but this is personal preference mostly you can see that when i hit this dummy here you can see those hit markers on my screen that tell you that i actually don't damage to it this can be really useful for things like bangalore or gibby jolts you actually know when your ultimate is actually hitting them especially if you're inside and you don't have a visual line of sight on them but some people prefer the clean look of it off however i find that having the hit markers on kind of helps me stay centered on my target next we have damage numbers with four options off completely removes damage numbers i do not recommend putting the setting on as it as you have to guesstimate how much damage you've done to opponents and overall when you don't know an opponent's full hp or whatever it's it makes it more difficult i'd recommend having at least on one of the other options stacking makes the damage number just increase as you deal more damage to it you can see that the number goes from 13 to 26 and it keeps counting up from there floating instead of making the numbers actually build up it shows them individually so you see as i hit this dummy it goes it you can see all the 13s from it i do not recommend having a setting on as it doesn't really tell you how much damage you've inflicted unless you're really quick with math but i don't think in the moment you want to actually be trying to do math in your head i recommend you either use both which shows you split instances of how much damage you do as well as a total or you use stacking which just shows you how much damage you do i personally like to know how much damage each of my bullets do and the total result so i can quickly communicate to my teammates how much damage i've done i would recommend for majority of you guys to use stacking however if you're if you want more information i'd recommend you use both for our next setting ping opacity you want to leave this on faded this helps keep visual clutter out of the way and actually lets you see through pings and whatnot obituaries this is the kill feed this lets you see kills in the kill feed you always want to have this on as the kill feed can provide vital information for you mini map rotation i recommend you have this off because it'll be easier to identify directions such as north east south and west when you are in a fight you can make a calm easier without having to look at your compass at the top of the screen however ultimately if you find it's easier for you to have it on then go and do it weapon auto cycle on empty i have this off i personally don't like having the game swap my weapons for me i like to be in control of the things that happen so i really prefer to have this off however for you if you think it's harder for you to actually remember to swap weapons when you have no ammo then go and turn this on auto sprint i have auto sprint off because there are situations where if you're in a bubble fight so you can't sprint and shoot at the same time you see there's the small delay there are some situations where you don't want to run and this small delay can actually kill you through a ping discrepancy or something like that i recommend if you're on mnk to turn this off it's not that hard to press shift or whatever keybind you have for sprint if you're on controller though this is basically a must-have on double tap sprint this is completely optional this is entirely up to you if you want this i have it off because i think it's just easy to press one button it's a lot quicker a lot more responsive to just press one weapon jetpack control this is a setting for valkyrie regarding her jetpack i find it's a lot easier especially if you're trying to do movements such as wall bounces or even just trying to jump around that if you accidentally double tap with toggle you have to press the button again this can actually result in you wasting more fuel and having to actually press the button again can give you more down time i recommend you hold this on hold so in case you actually ever tap it you can just let go pretty easily and that's it it makes a lot easier to like spam like this you're trying to not get hit for our next setting incoming damage feedback this shows you where you actually take damage i recommend you have this on 3d to get a better visual indicator of the 3d space about where it's from you can use 3d and 2d but i personally use 3d i think 2d and 3d gives too much visual clutter on your screen taking damage closes death box or crafting menu i recommend you have this off if you're in a fight trying to armor swap and you get shot it'll kick you out of the death box here and that's not something you really want you don't want to reopen the death box especially in a special situation where that 0.5 seconds or whatever can actually get you killed i recommend you have this off pop-up pop-up if you pick up a weapon that has a hop-up on it such as dual shell for the mastiff you can see in the bottom right here it shows a little brief description of what the pop-up does and if you re-swap to the gun it shows it again i have this on as a little reminder especially when new seasons come out and new hop-ups come out it's really i want to get a brief description of what it does because sometimes it's hard to remember however if you want a cl more clean looking hud i recommend you turn this off there's just no prompt at all streamer mode unless you're a big content creator you already have this on most likely so i will talk about the more common usage for this uh if you want to anonymize other players names for example the people who kill you uh there are a lot of people that get anxious or stressed out when they see a streamer in their game or they see some sort of like really big player in the game like oh my god the champ squad is this person with a 4k 20 bomb a pred player and they'll see them in the kill feed realize they're in the fight and start trusting out if you're one of those people i would recommend you turn trigger mode on to all this kind of helps you not get stressed out about who kills you and just you can kind of enjoy the game a lot easier however i like to see names in the kill feed i think some names are pretty funny and i like to see recurring names or things like that in the kill feed so i have this off anonymous mode anonymous mode is only really important if you are once again a content creator this hides your name in the champ screen and the kill feed it'll show you as the character name with an anonymized uh lettering so for example instead of saying twitch.rate crew which is my in-game name it would say wraith and then a string of random numbers it's just whatever character i'm playing as this is entirely preference if you want to stay hidden you can turn this on but i recommend for majority people you don't need this usage sharing is just sharing data with ea i figure why not this isn't really something that's super important performance display this shows you your ping and your fps as well as some other server information in the top right especially your uh client id i recommend having this on sometimes when apex servers are lagging it's nice to know how it's lagging or if you have packet loss or things like that uh i recommend just turning this on so you can keep an eye out on your fps it's nice to know if you're in an area and you're only at 40 fps for some reason instead of your normal like 120 or whatever club invites this is entirely preference this just shows uh if club invites will display as a pop-up much like a party invite on your uh on your main menu screen communication filter if you're tired of randoms or you're just tired of being talked to by people you can toggle this communication filter you can have only your friends be able to uh be heard in voice chat or you can have nobody you can just event essentially turn off voice chat if you want uh this entire preference if you want to not hear your randoms if you're a little tired of the day or tired of randoms whatever you can just turn it off and buy about i don't i don't recommend doing this in ranked as communication is very important but for pubs do whatever you want reticle i will be discussing more reticle options in the autoexec part of this video but for me i use like a greenish color colorblind mode this is entirely preference i would recommend using whatever you find comfortable i think it's looking best as off i don't really need colorblind settings and i use digital vibrance so my game is already looking plenty bright enough subtitles i have subtitles off but if you like to know exactly what characters say say for example you're like a lore fanatic or you just want to know exactly what they say uh you can go and turn this on however i have it off because i like to not have visual clutter on my screen subtitle size just affects the size of these subtitles enable accessible chat features i have this off this isn't something i really need convert incoming voice to chat text i know a lot of console players use this especially because the quality of mics is typically very bad i have this off because i don't really want to see what people say to me translated in text chat but some people's mics are typically very bad this might be a good thing to have on and this is tts for uh things people type in chat this can get very annoying it's audio clutter i would recommend just having this off let's go ahead and move on to the next section let's go ahead and go to the two video sections this is a lot more about optimizing your game and making sure it looks good and plays good i'll show you the best settings here for making your game look the best it can and run the best i can display mode full screen you always want to have your game on full screen this gives you the least amount of input lag compared to borderless windowed or even windowed mode i recommend you always always play on full screen aspect ratio and resolution are determined basically if you're using stretchers or not if you're not using stretch drives you want this to match your monitor settings you want to go 16 9 and just play native i recommend you play native no matter what but if you want to play stretch threads that will be a separate video in the future or there's plenty of videos on youtube already brightness combined with my monitor settings and my digital vibrance i find that 69 brightness is a good mixture for me i find that everything is very bright and i can see whatever i need to field to view field of view is preference i recommend a majority of your time if you're playing native resolution you want to play 110 fov this lets you see the most on your screen as you can however this isn't necessarily good for everybody if you have bad eyesight or it's just difficult to see things on your screen you may want to play 90 fov this makes things a lot more clear it allows you to see things further away a lot easier you can also play i recommend if 90 fov is too small but 110 is too big i recommend you play 103 fov perhaps play 106 fov i wouldn't recommend you play 120 fov the use of an auto exec or config file i find that it makes it distorts the visual game too much especially when targets are far away i find that 110 is the upper limit of what you want to do for our next setting fov ability scaling there are a few abilities in the game such as octane stim that actually increase your fov you can see that when i insert the stim my screen zooms out this can be really disorientating and there is a lot of fov mishaps that happen so for example if i put a 2x on my car you can see my fov changes if i go ahead and i stim with fov scaling enabled you can see i kind of zoom in more and that will actually change my sensitivity i recommend you have this disabled for the most consistent aim possible and the most consistent visual representation of your game sprint view shake i recommend you have this on minimal this just makes your game shake a little bit more as you're running i recommend you have this to minimal it just reduces visual clutter by a small amount doesn't really matter now onto the advanced settings we look at vsync we want to have this disabled vsync is typically very very bad especially if you have above a 60hz monitor just turn off vsync you can have a g-sync or the amd radeon equivalent and it's it just performs so much better than this nvidia reflex if you have a nvidia graphics card you want to have this enabled and on boost this decreases the latency in which your game actually takes to register inputs it increases your pc responsiveness at the cost of some in-game performance but overall it's very much worth it adaptive resolution fps target you want to have this off it will on the fly adjust your settings and to try to target fps but you don't want your but you don't want your settings or your visual quality to change depending on if you're going above or under it just tanks your performance i recommend this to zero for anti-aliasing you want to have tsaa on this is a little bit more impact on the gpu however it cleans up jagged and kind of mixed lines in the distance and gives you better visual clarity for a small decrease in uh frame rate performance i recommend you have this on just for vehicle clarity texture streaming budget this setting can go as high as vram you have i keep in mind that vram is not equivalent to the ram in your computer if you have 16 gigabytes of ram you can't go to insane if you have an older graphics card apex legends will actually give you a warning if you're trying to set this value too high so to set it as high as you can it does not actually affect your game's fps performance you can see here this morning if i have no texturing budget it won't tell me that it will tell me that it's not recommended for my vrm budget but it'll actually decrease the quality of textures in your game and to make my game look the best it can for montages and content and just playing name in general you can have it as high as you want and it won't actually affect your performance it'll it might make your frames drop between one and four but it's typically not not that big of a deal texture filtering texture filtering basically makes your game look a little bit more sharper i don't think it's necessarily something you need so i have it set down to bilinear this can actually affect your performance if set up super high ambient occlusion i would also recommend having these on disabled to make your game run the best it can most of these settings here you'll see are very low such as uh sun shadow coverage sun shadow detail spot shadow detail volumetric lighting dynamic spot shadows i have all of these set to low or off because this gives me the best fps possible and the only thing i have set to high here is model detail model detail just makes the characters appear in higher quality and gives in kind of shows the better details on legends this can be turned off i find that doesn't have that big of an impact on performance and actually makes characters look a little bit better and it makes them a lot easier to define now onto audio settings volume and all that is all preference depends on how loud you want the game i please i beg you i beg you if you are playing with randoms even if you're playing with a friend if you have a random on your team please do not go open mic open mic is very disruptive and it's hard you're most likely getting it muted and a lot of your calls are getting missed out especially if you're playing ranked just leave it on push chalk that's that's all we need voice chat in this game is very quiet sometimes depending on people's microphones so i just have to set to 100 and if someone on my team's really loud i just go ahead and turn it down the rest of this is completely optional sound and background i recommend having on because if you're all tabbed out of your game or you're like browsing twitter or something like that you can actually still hear the sounds in the game so you know when the ship is going to drop when you're dropping and things like that i recommend how i have my music all off because i typically listen to my own music when playing the game and i don't really like the in-game music i find it can be disruptive in some parts i also have dialogue volumes to 14 there are a lot of players who don't like having sounds on or at least voices on however there are some very important voice lines such as we're being third partied or a hostile landed near me that you might want to be able to actually hear rather than rely on text cues or your own game sense to figure out now on to my mouse and keyboard settings i'm primarily a mouse and keyboard player i don't have good controller settings so if you're here for that i apologize i'm not really too qualified to actually talk about them but we'll go ahead and go over my mouse keyboard settings here my sensitivity i change my sensitivity every so often based on my goal and what i'm trying to do right now as a recording this video it is 1.4 in game and 800 dpi if you want to stay up to date on my sensitivity you can go ahead and open my stream and type the expansion point sends command to see actual sensitivity uh ads mount sensitivity i only run 1.0 and this causes a slowdown when you aim down sights this is really important for far away targets you can tweak this as you want but i recommend playing something close to this as targets farther away you obviously have to move your mouse less and you want that slow down i wouldn't recommend playing one to one however there are plenty of resources out there for you to figure out how to do one to one and things like that you can just play 1.0 eds mouse acceleration mass acceleration is a good tool to use but i don't know how to use it and if you do want to use mass acceleration you should use a tool such as raw excel and not the actual in-game function for mouse excel mouse invert this just makes it to where when you look down it goes up and when you move your mouse up it looks down i would not recommend having this on lighting effects this just makes this lets apex take control of your lighting settings i wouldn't recommend doing that i think it's very useless now one of my keybinds move forward back left and right or wasd i also have moved forward on scroll wheel up this is important for tap strafing if you know what tab strafing is this just applies a bunch of lurches so you can actually redirect your character like this using the mouse wheel i'll have a full guide about tap strafing and lurching and all that in the future so be sure to stay tuned for that i have sprint on left shift jump is on space and mouse wheel down it makes it easier to b hop like this if i want to actually bhop and it's very important for things like zip line super jumps you can interact with the zip line and just press scroll down and it's a lot easier than having to actually time two jump inputs to actually hit a super jump which i actually can't do that well i have crouch toggle on v and c this is for super gliding it's a lot easier to super glide if you have two keys that are next to each other so a super glide is a jump and a crouch input at the top of a climb you can see here that if i press both with my thumb at the at almost the same time it makes people getting a lot easier and i have it on v and c just for preference sometimes my my thumb goes more towards c sometimes it goes more towards v i think it's just nice to have a backup and i have my hold the crouch on left control it doesn't matter if you use toggle or hold for super gliding but i find that this is just better for preference my tactical ability is on q ultimate ability on z this is normal my interacting pickup i actually swapped from e to f very early in my apex playing time i find that f is easier to press you can't strafe right when pressing f at the same time because it's the same finger but i typically find that i don't really need to uh do that at the same time because attach crafting and like mid-air like control and things like that i just find it's easier to press than e ultra interact as x this is a button i find that i don't need to press a lot and it's just it's on x because it's not really something i really need to worry about inventory i have inventory on tab this just makes it this is just an easy button to press to access my inventory it's also an i but i have never pressed that i think in two years map is on m you typically don't need to access the map unless you are you know like walking on the map you're not in an active fight so having it away from your movement keys is perfectly fine and it keeps your last input from when you're actually walking so it's not that big of a deal attack last shoot is on left mouse button i don't really need to explain that toggle fire mode is on t i find that having to toggle my fire mode is a lot easier to have next to my movement keys because i don't want to have to actually like use my thumb i might want to change my ammo type for the car or change from double tap or anything like that when i'm running around and i don't have to move my fingers off of w or anything like that i actually play toggle ads you see i don't have hold i don't have toggle i find that toggle's a lot easier to use it decreases the amount of pressure i put on my mouse trying to hold down toggle and when i'm doing things like super gliding and all that it takes one less button to actually have to worry about holding and pressing at the right time i can just press it once and that's it it's over i also just find that when things like be hopping i don't i can't press the right mouse button and scroll wheel and shoot at the same time so i find that this is just a lot easier for my personal preference if you want to try toggle i'd recommend it it's really useful in some areas you can argue that in bubble fights and when using shotguns like the mastiff it's very difficult to actually effectively use if i have a mastiff and i'm toggle ads all i do is press the button again to actually shoot i press both of the buttons at the same time or still get the aim down sight value of the mastiff without actually sacrificing too much it's not that bad there's only a few times in zip line buildings and things like that where toggle ads actually screws me over but i like it a lot i find it's a really nice tool to have and it's actually nice to like learn i have my melee on five it's just an easy button to press so if i need to melee just finish somebody off i can just press this button on my mouse i have to worry about what keyboard button i'm pressing and v and c are occupied by crouch so i find this just an easy button to use reload is on r that's pretty normal cycle weapon i don't have cycle weapon bound because your scroll wheel is very important your squirrel is very important for tap strafing it's also very important for jumping for different movement techs as i explained earlier uh if you want to swap your weapons i recommend you put it on one and two or any buttons like that you can use your side buttons on your mouse but please do not use your scroll wheel to cycle your weapons or change your weapons it is very important because the scroll wheel can register about 20 inputs a second which is inhumanly impossible if i change my scroll wheel to interact you can see that i can actually pick up all the items here insanely quickly way faster than anybody even could without having to mash my keyboard like this to actually pick up items you can see that i can just if you are off drop if you are off drop and there's an enemy contesting you this will actually help you out say if this is a bin i can grab all the items within like half of a second without having to worry about my opponent possibly beating me they can still be because of ping discrepancy and things like that but i find it makes it a lot easier however i use both of my scroll wheels for different things so it can't really be used like that but if you're not trying to tap strafe and you don't like your jump on scroll wheel i recommend you use that instead you can set special keybinds for every single uh healing item such as using a syringe using a med kit using a shield cell however i don't use these i don't think it's super useful i don't have enough my fingers don't have enough free space and my keyboard actually do that however there are plenty of people that actually do do this so if you want to be very precise and not use the healing wheel that's completely fine it's completely up to you i don't use it though inspect weapon my inspect weapon is on mouse button four this allows me to just spin my q and i and inspect weapons really fast it's just a personal thing i like it a lot i'm a wraith main what's new what's to be expected it just makes it really nice without having to press a button on the keyboard and have my keyboard go clack clack clack clack clack clack clack every time my emote wheel and thank you is on f1 it's something that i don't press in the little fight and it's nice to have it away from the rest of my keyboard so when i'm in the middle of a fight i don't accidentally emote and i have to break it and then pull my gun back out i can it's something that's very far away from my keyboard ping i have ping on middle mouse button i find the only problem with this is that i can accidentally when i'm trying to b hop i can actually i can accidentally ping but it's not that big of a deal you can cancel your ping i don't have civic ping setup for uh specific call outs i just use the ping wheel for everything i need i have basically memorized where they all are my push to talk is n i don't talk to my randoms a lot and when i do it's not really in the middle of a fight but i find that n is a good button to use as it doesn't i can still move around fully i just can't really jump with it but i there's i don't have any mouse buttons left and and it's just an acceptable trade-off i can still move around fully and talk to my randoms if i really want to enter is my talk that's simple it's just a button that i won't press in the middle of a fight so i'll be fighting somebody and then be like oops and that's all i really have for keep mines these are all my in-game settings so with this we'll go ahead and move on to my nvidia settings to help optimize your game a little bit more so here i will go over my nvidia settings if you don't know what nvidia control panel settings are if you right click on your desktop and click new video control panel here it'll bring up a list of options for you to use to actually tweak your game settings that aren't actually changeable within the game so my monitor is a 2k monitor but i run the in 1920x1080 because running games in in 1440p is pretty difficult and i just find it's easier to stay in one single resolution uh let's go ahead and go into our 3d settings here this is where you'll change all of your settings for apex specifically go to program settings it'll take a minute to load but once you do go ahead and select apex legends r5 apex.exe and we'll go ahead and go over these settings one by one androscopic filtering you want to be application controlled anti-aliasing fxaa off game correction on anti-aliasing mode off you want to have this off entirely setting none it doesn't matter uh anti-aliasing transparency off this is it doesn't matter because it's art because the mode is already off uh background application max frame rate you can turn this on but i don't really think it's useful uh cuda gpus this just depends how many cuda cores you want gp to use which is all of them you want your game to be running the best it can low latency mode ultra you this will give your game the most responsiveness possible along with nvidia boost you want to set this to the highest option possible monitor max frame rate we i use and cap my max frame rate through in auto execs which i'll go over later so i have this off if you don't want to use an auto exec or launch option to do so you can go ahead and set this to whatever you wish monitor technology you want to use g-sync or freesync if you're on an amd monitor or whatever in front of an amd monitor this panel will be different but you want to use g-sync it's v-sync that actually functions and is really and works really good open l gen rendering gpu i have this set to my 37d if you have multiple gpus you want so it's on your best one power management mode you want to set this to max performance this will make your graphics card work at the highest possible energy usage and everything like that prefer refresh rate you want the highest available you want your game to be running off the highest refresh rate that your motor provides texture filtering uh nacl pick sample optimization you want this on texture filtering negative lod bias allow texture filtering quality high performance you want your texture filtering quality to be optimized to make your game run better and not necessarily towards looking better try linear optimization you want to leave this on threaded optimization you want this on vertical sync this is vsync you want this off where we are using g-sync if you're trying to play above 60 fps this is something you want to leave off make sure in your resolution panel that your max refresh rate is set to your actually appropriate number you want to make sure that this is set you don't want to be stuck on a 60hz refresh rate on a 144 monitor to set this to the highest available value uh in the adjust desktop color settings you can go ahead and tweak the settings of what your monitor looks like the only thing i do here is change my digital vibrance to 87 this is a number you want to tweak based off your own monitor settings and what looks good to you i like digital vibrance because it makes my game pop more makes the colors pop out more uh and it makes me be able to see more things i think 87 is a good number if you like the way my game looks like and things like that you can do 87 as well uh adjust desktop size and position i have two monitors i'll be covering the main monitor that i play apex on which is the g-sync cable monitor you want to make sure your game is in full screen this will give you the least amount of latency uh you want to perform scaling on your gpu and make sure your refresh rate and resolution match up here g-sync you want to make sure that g-sync is enabled and it won't be enabled for windowed and full screen mode the rest of these settings i haven't really messed with but for performance they do not they do not necessarily matter and i haven't treated them so i can't really give you a good understanding of what they are i will also link a guide in the description below that will give you a good idea of this of other settings you might want to change but these are the ones that i find give me the most performance so now we'll go ahead and go over my auto exec and launch options i actually leave most of my settings in my auto exec but there are a few things i use in the launch options and i play on origin however this works the exact same way on steam see my only commands here are dev and exec auto exec this just initializes your auto exec and all the commands within it and dev skips the intro cutscene that shows the ea splash back in season seven or so the this screen was really loud so i just enabled this and i haven't seen the ea logo since then and steam you do this very similarly by right clicking the game go properties and you can see unlock launch options here it's the exact same uh let me go ahead and open up my auto exec and show you guys so i am in my apex directory you can find this by on steam if you go to browse under local files it'll open this file up go ahead and go to cfg and this is where the auto exec is i'm not going to include a tutorial on how to make an auto exec but i will show you mine if you want my full auto exec here you can go ahead down into my discord down below at discord gg racecrew and you can just download this without having to copy paste it or anything manually type it in uh there are a few amount of things in here that are old but some of these are still very good so starting from the top fps max 166 this just sets your maximum fps i play on a 165 hertz refresh rate monitor so i just capped at 166. you want to cap this at a the frame rate you can get the most consistently i recommend most people cap at 144 or 60 depending on your monitor bind f12 exact auto exec this reinitializes the auto exec so if you make any changes so for example if you want to change your fps to 60 all you have to do is save it and then press f12 in game and it relaunches the entire auto exec cross play user opt-in this can actually disable crossplay but there are a few bugs with it such as with matchmaking and it kicks you out of your club you can't play with friends or anything like that so i wouldn't really recommend trying this it's just for fun cl show pos 4 this actually shows your position in the top left of the screen and shows your velocity and things like that it's just nice to know for testing numbers and things like that dev this is already in my launch options but i included it in here anyway this just skips the ea intro these last seven inputs here these uh are solely for making your game run better it reduces the cpu load that your game has
