hi guys so you might be wondering what is the best 3D pen on the market I've bought six 3D pens off of Amazon these are not sponsored I bought all of these off of Amazon myself I've tried them all out and I'm going to show you the differentiating features between these pens today so let's go through and try to figure out which is the best 3D pen on the market all right let's start off by introducing you to all these pens so we have the three doodler create plus which you'll see here we've got the M NT 3D super pen we've got the scrib 3D P1 we have the Pika 3D super pen we've got the scrib 3D Advanced and we have the M NT 3D printing pen Pro and all the links to these pens as well well as their individual reviews will be found in the description okay so let's start off by looking at one of the factors in choosing a pen which is the type of filaments that the pen is compatible with the vast majority of these pens are compatible with both PLA and abs uh and a few of them have a few extra compatibilities generally a beginner user novice user a 3D pen is going to want to use pla it's the easiest to work with doesn't give off any worrisome fumes um it is biodegradable and so generally you're going to want pla if you're just starting out it's only if you're in more advanced pen user that you might want to look at other filament types all of these pens are compatible with pla but I do want to note an exception which is that the three doodler create plus does uh want you to use their proprietary uh PLA and so you're not it's not compatible with third party pla their pla I think I can show you here is a little bit thicker in diameter than the average pla that you can buy from a third party online and so because of that you can't just use anything that you buy off of Amazon with the three doodler crate you have to buy their specific pla of course there pla is a little bit more expensive than something you could buy from a third party uh their pla comes in sticks like this so it's more like a hot glue gun type of format uh which could be okay personally I find that you have to change these out fairly often I personally find that it's a negative that the three doodler create plus requires its own pla uh it just gives you a little bit less flexibility harder to find maybe the color you want and it's going to be more more expensive in the long run okay so let's look next at the stencils and instruction manuals that come with these pens so this is the create plus it does come with an instruction guide that tells you a little bit about using a 3D pen you can also find of course Guides Online and then it comes with a stencil here so it's giving you a stencil for an eiel tower for a coaster for uh Cherry Bowl and a candle holder and then let's look at the this was from the Pika 3D so this one is um I I would say that that create plus had some fairly challenging stencils this one is even more challenging you know it's wanting you to do these high top shoes and so it's uh giving you the stencil here or the UFO the geometric bases then we have the scrib 3D both the scrib 3D P1 and the advanced come with the same stencils they're just a little bit bigger uh with the advanced version I like the sunglasses one to start off with I think that all of these stencils that come with these products so just to note the my NT 3D does not come with stencils I think they're all pretty Advanced for someone that's just getting started out with a 3D pen I think you're going to be easily frustated if you start with these stencils it's not easy to use a 3D pen they're quite finicky you need to get used to how they work and the feel of the pen and so I don't recommend that you start with any of these stencils uh you can come to my website I'll put the link in the description and I do have a tutorial which includes some stencils but you can also just Google and find stencils online uh start with basic shape start with writing your name start with something really basic uh just to get the hang of the pen and I laminate my paper so that it's easy to peel off uh when you're done so this is what I recommend you start off with like a basic shape or writing your name not these uh complex stencil drawings especially something like that Eiffel Tower um or the shoe you know those are way too hard for a beginner okay so next let's look at the speed settings on these pens so you do want to be able to adjust the speed to help control your uh filament Extrusion and to get the nicest smoothest filament Extrusion so 3D D doodler create plus has two buttons it has a fast and a slow button that you press to extrude out of the pen and so it really only has two options for fast and slow the mynt3d has this toggle which allows you to be more precise in choosing how fast or slow you would like the Extrusion to be I like this toggle the best um the scrub 3D P1 also has this toggle the p uh 3D doesn't have a speed setting the advanced uses the scrib 3D Advanced uses these buttons to set uh the speed and this speed settings will show up on the LCD screen so it's not a toggle um I actually like the toggle better but there is a wide variety of choice uh in the speed settings that you have here and then lastly the M NT 3D Pro does have the speed toggle there so if you're more advanced and as you are going to get more advanced as you practice with the pen you might want to be adjusting the speed setting to help you with your uh filament um to be more precise and so these pens that have the toggle give you the most options when it comes to your speed okay so then let's look at the screens uh on these pens so the three doodler create plus does not have an LCD screen in order to choose between the filament types there's a flip or switch here which means that you can't adjust the temperature precisely you just have to go with whatever temperature setting they have for p l or ABS same with the m NT super pen it does not have a LCD screen so you actually pull this part and then there's a little screw that adjusts the temperature for pla or ABS no LCD screen here the scrib 3D pen does have an LCD screen that allows you to go between PLA and abs and adjust the temperature the paa 3D also has an LCD screen it only just has like PLA and abs it doesn't have the temperature uh written but it does um allow you to choose with an LCD screen the scrib 3D Advanced also has an LCD screen that will let you choose between PLA and abs and adjust the temperature as you wish and lastly the M NT 3D Pro pen also has an LCD screen that lets you set the correct temperature and choose between PLA and abs so again for your more beginner users it probably doesn't matter whether you have an LCD screen these two pens which are marketed more towards beginners don't have that LCD screen but it's also very easy to just choose between your pla or your abs with the um flick of a switch as with the create Plus or this one is a little bit harder because you do have to use a little tool to CH the screw um that being said most of the time you're going to be working with PLA and it's probably not going to make a difference uh but if you are becoming a more advanced user and you're wanting to um use different types of filaments or you want to adjust your temperature by a degree then you're going to be looking more at these two pens which are more advanced pens that are going to allow you to adjust that temperature really accurately and make sure that you have the exact right temperature that you want for your filament okay so I just want to talk a little bit about Extrusion so all of these uh 3D Pens have a button to press to uh start extruding the filament through the 3D pen through the hot end so that it becomes out and you can draw with it uh slight differences in some of these models as to whether you have to press and hold this button or just press it once and it will continue extruding until you press it again I think there there's different opinions on which one is better if you're a more advanced user you might want the one where you press and have to continue to hold it uh until you let go and then it will stop so if you're looking to add fine details you might want something where you can be really super accurate in how much filament comes out um but personally I like the ones where you just press and the filament just continues to extrude which is like this scrib 3D P1 pen and and then it will stop extruding when you press the button again okay I like this because that means I don't have to be constantly holding this button which means I can adjust my grip and uh I don't get a cramp I find the ones where I have to hold the button I get a wrers cramp a lot easier than the ones where I have to uh press and hold so just to go through those so this create plus you just press once and it extrudes the m M NT 3D super you have to press and hold the P1 which by the way I chose this one for the demo because it's the quietest model um I really like the quietness of this pen uh this one you just press once and it will extrude Pika you just press once and it will extrude the scrib 3D Advance press once and it will extrude and the my NT 3D you have to press and hold so the M NT 3DS are the two that you have to press and hold again that might be more useful for advanced users but for someone like myself who's doing beginner projects I actually like the ability to just press it once and then be able to draw and adjust my grip as needed okay so let's talk about grip now so this paa 3D uh pen the scrib 3D Advanced and the scrib 3D P1 all are thick wider pens personally I like this for gripping a pen but if you're wanting to be uh have the feel more like a regular pen then these are quite wide though like gripping a really large marker uh so this is definitely a personal preference thing but I do see that artists who are really good with 3D pens online tend to go for the more narrow pens uh so these three pens definitely have your wider grip the advanced kind of does have a narrowing here so it fits a little bit more it's a little more more ergonomic in your hand but generally it's is still wide at the base here okay so that's a consideration whereas these other uh 3D pens so the pro the super and the create are all generally more pen-like in their feeling like the pens that you would hold uh to write normally with they are still a little bit bigger than a regular pen you're thinking more of like a thin marker but if you like that feel then these ones are the better ones okay so let's talk about cost obviously cost is extremely important when choosing a 3D pen you want something that is Affordable but also has a lot of features that you can grow into as you get more advanced with a 3D pen so I'm going to review the prices that are on amazon.com today for these pens of course these can change and I do note that 3D pens do tend to go on sale on Amazon a lot so certainly make sure you track the prices and you can check the links in my description to determine the accurate prices for today but just as a comparison today the three doodler create plus is listed at $79.99 the super my n t3d is $39.99 scrib 3D P1 is $29.99 Pika 3D is 309 scrib 3D Advanced is $449.99 and the M NT 3D Pro printing pen is $59.99 today okay so which 3D pen is the winner which is the ultimate 3D pen that you should buy I definitely think there's a little bit of a choice here depending on whether you're looking for a more beginner 3D pen or something that can take you to the advanced level all of these pens here were excellent 3D pens I don't think you would be going wrong by choosing any of them but I am going to narrow it down for you based on my favorites so when it comes down to your your beginner more basic 3D pens that are also affordable I narrowed it down to these two the scrib 3D P1 and the my NT3 3D super pen uh both of these were affordable pens they both used PLA and abs scrip 3D uh is the more affordable pen today and does have the LCD screen it is the wider based pen so I think it comes down to which you would like in terms of working with a pen the more narrow grip or The Wider base personally I liked this one but that's probably a personal preference thing if you're looking for something that could potentially take you to the next level to get into some more advanced 3D Pen work I think it's between these two options so the scrib 3D Advanced and the M NT 3D Pro printing pen I do note that the myn uh t3d came with the ABS whereas the scrip 3D came with the PLA and I do think the pla is the more useful filament to have as a sample but I do like the speed setting better on this Pro pen than I like on the scrub 3D again you've got the thicker wider pen and the more narrow pen so that might be a little bit of personal preference don't think you can go wrong with either of these pens uh but depending on which uh grip you like best that might make your deciding factor both of these are pretty affordable pens so for you know just 20 or $30 more you can typically buy this pen versus these pens and you do get a lot more features with these pens so it might be worth considering I hope you enjoyed my review of these 3D pens don't forget to like And subscribe to my channel for more videos on 3D pens coding for
