Beginner-Friendly Vanilla RimWorld - Ep 28 (No Mods, No DLC!)

hey folks quill 18 here and welcome to another episode of let's play Rim World last episode had kind of a frustrating little ending we got a man Hunter pack of Boom rats simultaneously like seconds later solar flare started so no uh no turrets to help out with that not that this area is a problem the big problem was Berg having uh taken a walk in a bad way tried to run away from the Boon wraps but because this Auto door wasn't functioning you actually couldn't get through without taking a bunch of damage and letting some boom rats inside which meant we did a little bit of fighting there and we got a few more injuries from explosion luckily we do have a decent amount of armoring I mean some people are literally in um recon armor which is pretty good but even the people who aren't uh tend to be pretty decently geared at this point so the explosions weren't too bad I don't think we lost any body parts Berg's the most injured but you know it was sort of all over so not too too bad most of them were lamenting about the fact that we still don't have a proper uh farming industry maybe this was the wrong thing to do for cash cropping since I am so hard up on farming I mean I guess maybe just statue making which is where all my marble is going I suppose this is open come on no oh nowhere literally know where to store kibble do I just want to make a temporary stockpile for some extra stuff I mean as soon as something gets consumed or moved maybe I just need to make another Workshop so what I was thinking at the art bench here is I might open this up to use oh any stone block which it is okay so yeah do do that um actually I don't want to see wooden statue um price I mean the stone statues are definitely worth more but the wooden statues are okay too as long as we got enough wood cutting which we really don't have the skill to support that either I mean I could just install some of these things um maybe I'll do here just for now is I'll expand this Zone there there we go that way Darcy can at least uh not do hauling ever okay my brakes start to wake you up but someone's gotta haul that out of the door please okay all right straighten that out yes we could do more statue making didn't know the power's back Soul flares never last very long just long enough to be annoying and I guess at some point this thing's gonna explode I should try to kill it at a distance next time someone comes over here the engine light should stand right here and fill that okay you don't have to be that far away and since you're not very confident in shooting there we go why why are okay this is all crappy weapons let me add a new bill here oh that's burn hold on I think we do have the smelt uh here yeah there you go all biocoded weapons will eventually get broken down so that'll clear that as well which is gonna be okay uh oh Darcy uh Darcy you're actually you're a great shooting um we don't have an assault rifle kicking around for you okay let me give you this excellent change shotgun for now oh uh you know what we'll use it because it is excellent that is that is a big quality thing I mean I guess I could trickle it down to other people but that is a much higher quality because it's two levels of quality higher than the assault rifle so yeah we'll go ahead and give that to you that's gonna have to be okay all right a little bit of mining goat's not particularly pleased oh yeah you get fibrous mechanites uh yeah I wonder if I should um intentionally administer some drugs to you thank you oh I guess we don't have any psychi t because otherwise you'd be using it hmm oh honey all right harvesting corn plant sure I mean we want that I mean our food situation again heavy on the meat I do need some veg I don't think I'll sew the smoke leaf foreign ly turned off oh that's a dumping stockpile right okay and you're turned off then we have a little bit of rice over here all right that seems okay I harvesting pop our tree oh in this area which I have flagged for the Ambrosia and the thing is we do legitimately need wood yeah sewed one plant and then went there yeah oh we've uh all of a sudden we've turned into um we've turned into our western town or Westworld town where people are spending too much time walking but I do want to go out and grab this metal here and I guess we did get you know we did get another major event with the Manhunter packs so unless we get the back to back thing we've got some breathing room it happened faster than I'd expected this Gap here I wasn't expecting another one immediately otherwise I would have restricted people who are more limited work allowed area Okay the brake risk toggling over and over is kind of annoying oh yeah hold on you I'm not bad you need to be moved to here it's not a great bedroom but it'll still be better I think than what you had and yet we're out of uh we're out of marble I could do a mismatch bedroom I'll use some of the sandstone that we're harvesting here from doing some deconstruction oh and then it won't update the number I forgot it doesn't you when you're dragging that it'll tell you if you have enough to do a job but if you've queued some stuff so now it's like I'll have to wait for this to be constructed before I can get some accurate counts of the Sandstone but okay I think we do legitimately have 17 left which means I can do four more tiles out of soundstone and then we've got some slate blocks kicking around so you're gonna have a mismatched bedroom but deal with it and I'll just put a uh I'll put a pave tile under there are you still new do we not have uh what's the deal with tailoring oh do we not even here we've got plenty of leather [Music] okay I'm gonna take Angie off of constructing or at least set it way down low I mean you're still going to finish that Hall there which is fine cutting oak tree oh because of the plant cut stuff here you know what I'm gonna cancel the job since we're not getting a wood from this anyway it's not a very good use of our time okay if I missed that one got the rest are all done okay there you go making happy SMG thank you that completed excellent now make some clothes or go to rest I guess that's okay too the hell okay wargs well let's get everyone over here so there's no solar flare this time yet and no one's walking outside an annoying way good well I guess we got the two back-to-back events and if we're gonna get two back-to-back events I'm happy it's man hunting packs um okay hello you've at least got armor if you get caught we're just gonna try to drag these over there you go they're aggroed or some of them are you should probably Auto door that did not pull everything which isn't necessarily the end of the world small packs easier to deal with there you go just a few more all right come back okay we might have gotten all of them this time see that they smashed that door but then didn't see us go through that one so that's exactly what we're trying to do I guess that's not part of our Home Zone there you go oh neither are those walls let me do that and yeah I think I will go and build a I don't have any steel right now so I can't queue it up oops I didn't want to cancel all the traps I just want to cancel the steel traps and build them out of wood instead not that we have any wood but at least that comes faster oh that's not where they go get one of the sandbags and in between here okay I'll get finished I mean they're probably bleeding to death regardless okay yeah a little hunt to finish that off that's fine so half of these all instantly rot from scaria but we are going to get some more meat and some more leather from this wait there's things wrong you're going back to rest and you are pretty tired so legit Berg's a little bit injured but gonna play games that's fine why am I still hearing doggy combat sounds oh there was still some out there I thought we'd grab them all uh oh goat oh goat I'm sure it was done all right now I think we're okay goat how you doing there like I was like currently bleeding to death but it's like you know what I'm gonna have a little social break first and bleed all over the freaking break room get in bed honey tending to go good yeah honey is so overworked I hate that she's had to get up to really high levels of plant skill without ever having any passion for it that is a slow crawl all right Angie listen you you need to get tailoring I'm actually being very disappointed with you No Rest wow well the Sleep keeps getting interrupted I guess again now we're in maybe a bit of a down period with things yeah too many too many things happening all at once nothing is actually finishing not that again it might be nice to have the geothermal just to make sure we have stable power although we're not too bad off with the one geothermal and three uh Renewables or occasional power sources over here just bad right now it's not working out picking Construction office at NG is going to help yeah work on these Timberwolves sleeping on a trap that's just like insulting you know decided you were hungry like a little closer here so you'd eat with the table these pawns are weird you know okay Angie's up what are you up to making a simple helmet wait we still have a simple helmet job queued up somewhere I don't want that there you go thinking high explosive shell could you could you do some tailoring first thanks I mean we're gonna want you know our full set of shells for the next uh um the next raid that's fine I'm not complaining about this happening I'm gonna do this um no not with everyone with some people just because I'm I don't want people programming these mini stacks okay so dragons basically are full-time hauler here as a primary thing okay and that that's that makes me happy okay good stuff on Happy nudity did we not finish uh oh it's not in the stockpile that's why okay I should try I should call a merchant so call our Ally over here and we'll ask for exotic Goods because I think well exoticons I think is more likely to get components bulk Goods is probably more likely to have raw plus deal so I guess we want to bulk Goods okay we'll also be looking to sell some things uh Berg's not currently carrying a weapon all right I'll get you to use the assault rifle um and then someone who's less shooty that's fine I suppose I also want to look at gear you know what Berg just grab the SMG it's fine okay and yeah I should probably queue up more than that I should probably just use more SMGs for they they do move better damage at shorter at Short ranges long range with a good shooter the assault rifle will be able to you know do some nice long range damage for our kill box the SMG is definitely the better weapon all right Darcy oh this is all Home Zone so you're cleaning it go let me clear that uh I should Home Zone these walls here so they get repaired and replaced if something happens okay I guess similar thing here and replace I'm gonna continue to ignore the barn now I guess I'll do the barn walls hang on a sec didn't realize that was open so we'll do that yeah we still need block cutting to happen a little bit more and use asleep again though it doesn't even have a jacket on which bothers me a little guess we don't have uh yeah well this is all backed up okay honey what what are you looking for are you looking for some pants is that what you're not wearing yeah come over here and wear these I know they're not in a stockpile but you're gonna be happy to have them on there you go it is weird that's fine that they don't Auto equip things that aren't in stockpiles but at the same time it's a little weird like our people just don't care enough uh that's incredibly annoying because that's probably going to spread sorry to wake up people but we're gonna have to oh it is raining I suppose but insults free come on I know you're sick there's nothing to do about it uh are you still connecting the grid oh how lovely I'd assume something was going to break over there okay let me just clear this because we don't want to clean the dirt unnecessarily oh right hold on I was leaving this here just because there was a little bit of Fire got a little bit of a buffer to fight okay lots of repairs construction still going NG you're making Advanced components which is fine I mean we need all this crafting to be happening should I set up a little mining thing I guess once we're done the research we could put it down if we find something around blastio that will be great psychic Sue that's excellent yeah maybe I will okay ground penetrating radar not the long range Mineral Scanner ground penetrating radar it can't be roofed but we can put the little sit spot in an unroofed area yeah damn auto save eating my input until I moved my mouse do this yeah we're still going to deconstruct this afterwards but we're nearly done so it's a researcher that has to do it and it will find some resources under the ground maybe a plastial deposit even a steel deposit within our walls would be kind of convenient but most of them are looking for plastille Uranium assuming we can get an underground uranium deposit because we do need a little trickle of that in we still have some stored up but it'd be nice to have some more all right still got that set to mine do this as well okay we definitely should be safe from from a major event from a raid right now for a little while um yeah I'm just gonna keep designating all these areas to be mine because we're gonna need we're gonna need all of this okay all right all right so lots of Steel has been designated we have dragon who's gonna help with some of the hauling which is going to be nice little repair still happening who doesn't have a ranged weapon board a ranged weapon what happened to you that you you can drop the weapon at some point let's make sure that there's not like a forbidden dropped weapon somewhere there you go and forbid everything she'll probably include some eggs or something but that's gonna have to be okay sappy cooking some meals good or repairing Striker supplies oh that's expired okay yeah we might not mind going after a few of those if they have the right stuff butchering curating okay so dry well dragon's asleep so you're not hauling anything right now all right Fair it's legit um we might wanna ask for a recon armor or two goat and dragon both need a recon armor so I'll put those in I know we got the Recon urge Recon helmet sorry I know we want the uh we got the recon armor suspended which could unsuspend I don't know I know we're we're hurting from Material it would just be really nice to have everyone Max tanky I do I am happy I want like good head protection and the fact that the Recon helmet protects the eyes I think is really important so I'm not complaining about that hauling wood over there yeah so Dragon yeah you're just doing a bunch of hauling which is good so we can stack things bring the kibble up there probably cancel that oh they got the bulk good Trader sorry I keep calling you guys manure people but the manure people you got a bunch of pigs too I don't think we're interested in the pigs hope we got things to sell to a bulk Goods Trader because we don't have a lot of silver um we could sell animals which is something to consider you know what I can sell a ton of kibble it's not worth much foreign you know what I'm gonna keep a little bit around should our animals technically have a bit we're gonna do this to clear a bunch of inventory space we don't care about um the our freezer's not full so I can get rid of the insect I can keep the insect meat for now that's okay yeah I'm fine with that um I don't think I feel the need to buy cam fuel we might want to buy neutromine so we can keep making medicine but for now hold on we're gonna do this um I'm gonna get rid of some of these smaller leather Stacks that's not enough to make anything out of even the 121 is pretty weak this is going to clear a bunch of stockpile space but that's important yeah which we want to sell thrombopher you can see it's really valuable but yeah we'll just sell it that's fine keep the panoxicillin the high explosive shells I don't want to buy steel although I might want to buy the reinforced Barrel because I don't think we have any in storage yeah this is a ground Caravan so it actually tell us on the Shelf ooh we do have to keep our mortar no I don't want to sell that Persona core although it would make a ton of money and okay hold on you have not that much cash okay we can assume we're gonna buy this oh maybe I should buy the chem fuel because then we don't have to produce it I'm gonna buy your cloth as well okay then yeah let's sell these urns first just to clear out space okay all right and then statues for money we could buy less of something to end up with more silver but I actually think I'm okay with this um oh man you know what let's sell some cows there we go done okay good trade oh this cloth is pink and sometimes I think all the cloth you produce is always white um but the stuff you buy could be dyed I don't know if you can like pre-dye cloth you can dye you can color outfits with ideology you can use a Styling Station to color people's outfit but I'm not sure in vanilla if there's any option for that I wonder if the stacks with our regular cloth I'm assuming so because it's just called cloth I don't even know if the collar carries over um but I'm assuming if you use mixed material then it will uh you know I don't know randomly pick your percentage actually I really don't know about this that's kind of interesting to me all right so Dragon you're clearly gonna have to go and haul that stuff soon to the Shelf oh yeah cause we store Steel in here yeah for convenience yeah yeah okay yeah you're gonna grab some more stuff around here now stuff still has to be in a stockpile to be sold to these guys it doesn't have to have the um uh the trade Beacon but I think it still has to be in a stockpile or shelf which is a type of stockpile for it to count this is a little weird because it looks to me like there's a Zone in here but it's because we used a couple of different materials for goat's room which is now considered at least decent not impressive but that's okay we could put a bunch of statues in there but right now I'm happy to just be selling those I think with speaking of statues I did set a limited number like yeah this is just going to try to do it five more times it's not gonna eat our blocks forever and we've got room now so yeah I'm okay with letting that job go all right Honey's doing some planting again thank you he's got a happy nudity fort I mean this is yeah I'm back up here NG I'm happy you got the work frenzy that's really good we might want to prioritize clothes over the helmets I don't know clothes is making people unhappy but the helmets might help keeping them alive trade Caravan is leaving they really don't stick around Long it'd be nice to do like sneak in a couple of trades in there but we'll take what we can get Recon helmet component so you're done doing all the components now you're doing or doing all done doing all the helmets now you're doing that I'm gonna interrupt you there uh NG and get you to work on clothing foreign there we go some people are swapping this stuff oh Dragon was just in tribal wear so he's happy to do those upgrades although that might mean he's unhappy now too if you couldn't also quit pants and then sleep but there we go we've got some extra stuff vort's equipping themselves no longer on Happy nude great stuff and yeah I think this might be the last research just because I don't think if we're building a spaceship I don't think we'll have the material to support this stuff Shields I mean Shield belt is great if we've got a meleeer but we don't we don't need a moisture pump don't think we need to do fire foam things or Hydroponics although there's some tempting things there go do some stuff yeah no so the question is do I deconstruct this for the parts or do I keep it around in case I decide I actually do want it I think I think the thing to do is deconstruct I think we're going to commit because that's where the work spot is right don't plan in to move the great chair and yeah vort's still going to be doing research all the time but he's going to be operating or she she is going to be operating the ground penetrating scanner instead and maybe find us some minables ideally within our territory and ideally plastial we're going to find a lot of Steel but we might find some class steel as well we could put a hull on the slag chunks over here it's actually not a terrible idea well not right now what once Dragon sort of runs out of regular hauling stuff which is pretty unlikely happening anytime soon um we uh we can go and haul those so I'm gonna de-power these we go transport pod crash blue jay uh yeah okay so this would just be a rescue operation although you might join us slow learner fast worker and steadfast you got some plant passion we would not complain if you joined us uh can I see someone near here not really follow you're in so we're gonna rescue We're Not Gonna anger the faction I mean I suppose other than like being able to call Trade care bands I suppose I'm not that worried about upsetting these factions we go for visitors hello ah blue jay died yeah I mean they were in pretty bad shape that's still a little disappointing so yeah no research project going on that's fine power cut here that's fine we'll move the chair there so that vort can still have some comfy research times go doing some mining which is excellent because we barely have any Steel sappy okay working on the geothermal which is going to be real nice to set up maybe I should just start making Granite blocks we do have a bunch I'll cancel that door as well we have a bunch in our base yeah we might literally be out of limestone and marble on the map okay since we know we've got plenty of granite around I'm gonna go ahead and bring up the priority on those as well in case it does come up but yeah someone's gonna start carving out those blocks for us inspiration oh item art or Furniture creates labret labrae do you do anything like that your skill's not great is the problem but conceivably if I force you my four should make an SMG Maybe oh it says shred mechanoid but we must not have the material for an SMG either oh wait this is limited NG hold on hold on hold on you're so much lower it is going to be two levels higher we'll put Tailoring on and actually let me leave this as a one for now until you finish that I don't know that you're going to be good enough to actually make a really high quality SMG no matter what it's going to be pretty decent I'm assuming at least excellent all right so we're getting two free levels but we might get really lucky uh Darcy's idling well oh wow we haven't seen that happen in a long time I guess you finally caught up on your cleaning all right lebre let's do it good honey is really unhappy night Aldrin daytime which has been dealt with soaking wet slept in the heat slept in the heat oh yeah I still don't have any AC on these blocks um all right in the interest of keeping moods halfway decent get some AC two of them feeding into this whole area and let's get one for the hospital block as well which I mean this is gonna have to vent a lot of stuff we might have to add a second cooler later I hate that we're using more of our valuable materials on this but I guess we're gonna have to they come along get in there okay Pirates seven Pirates mining skill trainer 41 hyperweave um we could take this easily but I'm not sure there's a point to it for right now the mining skill trainer I mean it's handy I suppose it's something we can sell but I think I'd rather hey we found a first underground stuff steel okay so we can put on drill on that but I'm just gonna ignore it for now okay Masterwork well that's not too shabby okay what I'm gonna do is I'm going to change this job back to just NG and I'm going to take Libre back down like so all right nice work on that though um excellent I mean Mass work is better and you're a good shot okay you know what I will give it to you yes you've got the skill to handle longer range combat but maybe I do want the better guns in the hand of the better shooters so that the better damage that the guns produce actually lands Honey's gonna be fine after this idler and yeah no research project that is A-Okay that is the plan right now okay I think there's still some mining going on outside oh we probably are due it could start happening now I'm hoping we've got a few more beats before it does mostly because I want more steel mind still not everything is planted harvesting some rice well that's gonna be okay it's going to enable some fine meals for us and this is all planted so we're definitely gonna get a big cycloid Harvest watch just get hit by lightning or some terrible blight right now something annoying like that they have tons of granite everywhere we know we still have limestone in the map too though eclipse is fine I mean obviously it's going to cut down the solar panel generation but theoretically we don't need that much of it you're making components making kibble oh because I guess we get a little hay Harvest oh and then you're hauling some chunks Darcy drinking tea cleaning dirt yeah I think I mean I think Darcy does end up having to clean a fair bit given the size of this and how many people we've got running around even though like rice is a lot of dances I am happy we're not growing too much rice because our labor situation is not great some grass in this area here okay and then sewing I mean maybe I could I could well I'm gonna say maybe I could change this to some other crop here in the rich train but I don't know making a crap ton of flake for sale is gonna be pretty good for us okay High drone that's terrible more steel it's outside okay between the high drone and just the fact that we're probably about to get some sort of attack we're probably due now let's get everyone in the allowed work area at this point I'm gonna double check that I'm happy with the loud work area as well first of all this area here well it's close by actually we can probably leave that be the problem with this oh it's up okay I was just the problem with this is quite far away from the front so I don't think I can do an added work if we do get a raid over here they might go and smash this which is going to be unbelievably frustrating hey here we go I was just about to say but we're not having block production and just like that those guys are kicking in um I suppose I will add this to the allowed work area because I don't want to lose this I'd rather not have people be out here but I guess we'll do this so a Zone um expand area allowed work so you can come over here that's going to be fine in terms of Home area that's set up that way that's okay all right so yeah they can go and construct that as the blocks get made that's gonna be all right goat is in a days because the high psychic drone hopefully okay you are indoors that's good I swear you were gonna be in a daze out here that wouldn't bode well for you hi drone that's really powerful happy we don't have that many males that is the one thing we've got going on for us here in uh with with this drone it's terrible but I actually don't know what our percentage is one versus another it's not like a page somewhere that just gives has the little like sex symbols does it let's fix you guys to all use regular medicine and Safi you're not pacifist so you can actually attack if anything happens clearly the four square that's when I equip the pants I wonder does the should I take a drone no it doesn't even count as a like a major raid which is really really not ideal for us like I used the door there instead of walking around things it's like one of the world's slowest doors but sure no reason to chop these trees down we're not Roofing this it's not gonna be a problem but yeah get that done that's gonna be okay focus on the inside areas all right so what we'll do is we'll call another Caravan the next time we get our um like after the psychoid Harvest and the drug production kicks up we'll do we'll call in a caravan at this point I don't think we have to rush another one I'm happy we made some space here and it does look like yeah the clothing color does carry over we're getting some pink shirts huh that's really interesting I wonder if these features were in vanilla rim world before um before the expansions like I wonder how long the ability for cloth to be dyed and carry over the clothes existed in the game you know does it go back to the alphas I don't know I don't have like a strong memory of when I've seen it when I haven't so no idea all right well we're gonna put a cut in here things are not as smooth as I feel they have been in the past I think I mean I am overworking and over designating things we ran into a few resource shortages um and certainly life isn't going to be easier as our wealth is a little higher although it hasn't skyrocketed actually which is a little surprise to me when we have a lot of people we are trying to we are having to produce valuable things to advance forward here and I think I think all the spaceship parts are going to count towards wealth as well let alone when we trigger the spaceship we're gonna get raided like crazy but
