hi we're the arbogast i'm amy this is liv and this is kevin and this is our 45 foot giant tiny home it's a 2005 monaco executive so like all of the other countertops in the motorhome this was a brown corian you can actually see it here yucky speckled too much dark and so gianni countertops sent over two kits they were supposed to be marble but with that look on the back splash that we did here we did didn't want to do it on the counters because it would just be way too busy so kevin got creative and he actually added a little bit of gold metal flake into the countertops nothing too crazy so that added a lot to the kitchen and the backsplash used to be a really dark brown tile and these are actually really large pieces of or really large tiles and i think there's just one two three total so there's only like one seam um because i kind of wanted it to look like that solid vibe and then what else do we have here we replaced put in all new window coverings and then kevin customized a vintage frame to frame the window so that that actually uh goes along with the whole vibe of the kitchen we did put a new faucet straight off amazon and this arrow and instahot was here so it's original i am a coffee freak addict whatever you want to call it so we have mr coffee which is technically for kevin because he likes the automatic coffee maker he really likes the keurig but limited counter space i didn't want a big bulky keurig in here since i don't drink that stuff so he gets to drink my coffee beans that i grind in my favorite grinder um and so i'm making coffee every morning and if we're in a rush i drink it out of there too i also have the pour over and a chemex so it just depends on how fast my morning is going but generally i like to slow it down and make myself a pour over stove is a kitchenaid gas and it's super nice these cabinets up here this has our glasses and extra fruit basically our our daily used plates and glasses cocktail glasses things like that and this cabinet is lots of messy food i also have a lazy susan in there so it makes it easier to navigate through this cabinet because it's pretty deep this drawer houses plastic bags extra towels things like that oh and this little guy actually was not here this is another one of my command strip friends believe it or not command stripped to the wall it's actually a command strip product but it was kind of maybe like a silver color when i bought it at the store and so i spray-painted it gold to match everything else and now it's a perfect spot for my um towel because there was nowhere else really to hang a towel i mean i was super stoked when we came and looked at the motorhome and saw that there was a dishwasher in there but let you in on a little secret we don't really use it that much i think i've used it twice it is actually storage for all of like the gadgets that you have to have or you want fridge and freezer they were they were originally the cherry color too got rid of all that painted it all um pretty much basic fridge and freezer it's much smaller than residential so we should grocery shop for less time we don't grocery shop for a week at a time we grocery shop for a few days at a time and everything falls out because it drives down the road stuff comes loose basic just frigid freezer only thing we really changed on it was paint [Music] it's not so much the tiny living that's good it's the mobility being able to wake up in a different spot wherever you want to be we got we went to southern arizona thinking it would be warm and it goes cold there so we went to the beach and just changed what you want to do my office views are always different so that's super cool and there's just a lot of i like the downsizing i i was really thinking that it was going to be difficult because i had a lot of vintage stuff and and i had just other stuff that made our house a home and i was really thinking that it was going to be really hard to separate and it was it was an emotional roller coaster but we've adapted i've adapted really well and i just i think i i enjoy the less things do more and having the opportunity to see more and and check stuff out that we probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to check out sitting behind a desk in our house [Music] so up front uh basically painted cabinets we didn't really change a whole lot the floor painted cabinets uh up here we got rid of like we have an in motion satellite system and stuff we don't use any of that stuff so we got rid of all the stuff that controlled all that we keep the vcr because that does the surround sound for the stereo and stuff which we've never used the only reason we really keep all the tech stuff up here is the this is a mobile router it's a cellular router so we can pick up there's a big antenna up top picks up wi-fi signals and sell signals so it gives us the ability to work pretty much anywhere and then this is all basically our pantry because we don't have a pantry we haven't recovered this yet we will recover this at some point we redid this just a simple piece of plywood with some paint and and the wood strips and the tv it comes down like that okay so uh this originally was a it was a seating area it had a had a slide-out corian deal with a couple of chairs we got rid of all the carpet that was in the all the brown shag it was in the slide replace that all with lvt um this is a vintage table it's maybe like i think it's from like the 1800s is actually what's dated on it i'm not sure if that's when it was made or that's when it was patented whatever uh it's glued down with gorilla construction glue this stuff works fantastic nothing sticks to this lvt but that the power that used to go into the cabinet that held the the dining table all that stuff is stuff you really don't want to move when you're redoing the renovation so i just built a little box and moved everything that was in that cabinet over to the corner here gives us a little place to charge cell phones and whatever these cabinets are basically used for food storage again no pantry food storage there and in the front and that's pretty much it all right with tiny home living in our big motor home i needed an office area but also something that didn't look too officey since this is also our living area hence kevin's chair right here but i've worked for a winery for going on 21 years remotely they are in napa california and i have a desktop so we wanted to make this area look as less officey as possible kevin built me a televator i sit here and do my work every day and then come the weekend this goes away this goes down and the bar area comes out and then i make cocktails from my little vodka collection down here [Music] okay the reason we we decided to move into a tiny home and travel is my entire career has been a family business and then when the we had a we couldn't making a come to agreement when to how to transition from my parents to me um so one day i woke up and realized i didn't have a job to go to anymore after 25 years of going in the same place and pretty life-changing when you realize that something can be pulled out from underneath you so quick i mean the biggest thing for me is it was just an opportunity now to not go to the same place anymore right so when once we realized that she worked remotely already it was just an opportunity for me to figure out a way to make a living while we travel and then just make all the pieces work so [Music] okay so this is a living room but it's also my bedroom since the motorhome has one bedroom so we made two bedrooms so this is my bed this is where i sleep i take off the cushions i go back in the closet grab some blankets some sheets my pillows take all these off stick them on the chairs so that dad can wake up in the morning move them and then sit in the chair he usually throws them on me and then i take down my black out curtains and then i pass out and then i wake up to uh whatever my dad's watching in the morning drinking his coffee okay so now we're in my parents bedroom and since i don't have my own bedroom i don't have much storage i mean i don't have a lot of stuff but i have my own side of the closet this is a big closet but this is only mine so you open it up i've got some jackets and clothes you know all the everyday things um i have a little basket for my hats and then i just have my jewelry collection back there and just basically everything that i need to live is back here so this is like basically my bedroom but without the bed so this is my little bathroom area it's my little vanity where i have you know my toothbrush toothpaste makeup so the counters were originally like this ugly brown basic and so my parents decided to paint them white and my dad actually added in the glitter and we weren't sure how we felt about it but it came out pretty pretty cool kind of dig it now so this is the shower it's the community shower because you know we're not bougie enough to have our own showers um this was all the same as the countertops just brown with little dot things in them so my dad painted all white they added some backsplash i guess you'd call it and then all of that is original and then this curtain wasn't here originally but being that the bathroom the showers in the middle of the motorhome we thought it might be a good idea to add the curtain and get some privacy in case somebody had to go to the bathroom while you're taking a shower in the bedroom we wanted a pretty moody vibe again to kind of be cohesive with the rest of the the motorhome so we did all black basically except for this wall is white kevin did the new trim same as out in the living area except black and then he just went ahead and painted over the existing wallpaper it had a good texture to it so we had tested an area and it was fine so we just went with it this mattress is not the mattress that came in the motorhome it's actually a nectar mattress and they were kind enough to send it to us so definitely check them out because uh this is super comfy so when we were hunting for a motorhome kevin and i had certain things we each wanted and one of my things was a washer dryer because if there was going to be three of us living in here including a teenager i wanted to be able to wash and dry clothes so luckily this one is actually a combo and it's pretty cool it just changes straight to dryer when it's done washing and um the spin cycle and then up here i just keep linens um towels um any extra stock shampoo conditioner toothpaste toilet paper all that kind of stuff and as liv said she has one side of the the closet and i have the other side of the closet and no i don't just wear black there's colored stuff over here i just happen to like to color coordinate my closet and the majority of my clothes are black so basically my clothes this is just an extra pillow i keep paper towels and toilet paper back here and then this big basket just has kevin and i shoes things like that in it this is my drawer my drawer so i have two drawers and half the closet and then the four remaining drawers are all kevin's since he didn't get any closet he needed a little bit more drawer space the wall this is literally my favorite thing in the motorhome i mean i have lots of favorite things in the motorhome but this is one of the huge huge projects that we did it seems like it would be pretty easy but it was actually fairly difficult kevin did a lot of measuring to get the scene to look cohesive with the doors and this is a sliding door so we wanted to make sure it looked nice when the door was closed and it all matched again i had a company send me this color raid decor and it's basically a huge floral mural and the reason that i picked this is because the space is so small and i knew i didn't want anything to clutter um the area with too much decor um i wanted it to make a big impact and basically totally did that [Music] okay so originally when we brought the motor home home i was pretty gung-ho about it i thought for sure i would be done in three weeks and we would just be out camping and that was three weeks working on it full time right and i think it took us about three weeks just to demo it it was tremendous amount of work i know it's a small space but it's an entire house in a small space and it um when they build this stuff they really so it's kind of like i've remodeled homes and i've repaired cars it's kind of a mix between the both of them so it's not like you don't just go through and demo it and redo it you kind of figure out how everything's attached and where all the wires are hidden and what you have to keep what you can get rid of yeah all the stuff you know what what it's going to affect to take stuff out um so it was it was a lot bigger project than i planned on it being but in the end it it it was it was not anything that anybody couldn't do you know okay so we have two awnings we have one over the door which is just like a three footer and then we have this one they're both fully automatic they're 110 volt so you got to run the inverter or the generator to get them out and if it gets windy they'll come back in by themselves they both operate at the same time off of a switch inside as far as paint and all that stuff we haven't touched any of that that's just original stuff so front cabinet here is not really a cabinet this is a this is our propane tank which is like 30 some gallons we've been living off of that for two months now and we're still got like a half a tank so we don't use we use a little bit for the fridge and a little bit for the stove and that's it 150 gallons of diesel fuel so that tank is that size all the way across and you can fill it up on both sides it looks just like this on the other side and all of these all these cabinets have like power locks so we just hit a button everything locks up whenever you want to leave or come back and these pull out you can basically grab stuff from the full other side and then this is the largest of the storage bays same thing all of our inverter and all the leveling stuff is up inside of here but this one also pulls all the way out so you can grab stuff from the other side from this side barbecue we got a flat top that goes on here cook outside most of the time and this bay here is just plumbing stuff we can we can shut down it's kind of cool it has this manifold system so you can shut down if you have a leak in one of the like a faucet or something you can shut off just that faucet and everything else will still work and then i put a i put a residential ro system in it so that we can drink the water out of the tank okay it's a little bit dirty i think this thing was stored outside when we got it that's a 14 liter detroit it's 515 horsepower uh got a got the biggest allison 4000 transmission it's got 50 i think right now 56 000 miles on it it had 52 000 on it when we bought it and that mile that motor should go for like a million miles it's one of the most reliable engines you can buy so uh it's got plenty of power it gets the same mileage as like a we had a gas motor home and it this thing gets the same mileage it just moves a lot more weight i think the whole plan with this whole plan is not to have a plan yeah we kind of fly by the seat of our pants we don't we don't plan on where we're going to be or how we're going to be there or i mean we just make a decision and go so we don't we really don't know how long we'll be doing this well we kind of talk about it first i mean there was a few defining uh moments that happened that made it to where we kind of had to stay around arizona when we first took off at the end of december had a grandbaby on the way and so we had to come back to do a baby shower so when we left we were only gone the very first time for two two and a half weeks so we couldn't go but we didn't want to go very far so we just went and checked out southern arizona and then when we went out the second time we went and checked out california because it's much warmer than arizona apparently it's gonna take a while though it's a big country there's a lot to see so this is our home thanks for letting us share it with you um honestly i really hope that we inspire some people whether it's just to renovate something that you're scared to because you've never even painted over a wall or a cupboard hopefully we're an inspiration and we can push somebody to go ahead and push through that fear um but if you want to follow along on our journey you can follow us on instagram at vintage928 or if you have questions about anything in the motorhome feel free to to shoot questions that direction and um if you're ever in fort mohave you could stay at our airbnb that would be also on instagram at two three eight zero so good good thanks you
