Beach Metal Detecting finds Gold | Laguna Beach

16 out of the hole oh my gosh irene oh my god [Music] hey guys i don't know how much you can see but i'm here in laguna beach this morning it's uh just turned 5 a.m i'm supposed to be meeting uh irene and andrew on the beach and i call this gold beach it's actually mountain road beach the reason i call it gold beach guys is because i have found gold here for a long long time i don't see anybody coming and i'm okay guys i'm not sure the rules and regulations about when you're supposed to be on the beach but a good rule of thumb here in laguna is you probably get away with an hour before the beach opens and i think i see a lot of people on the beach you know around sunrise so basically that's what we're at i hear it kind of rough that's one thing unique about this beach you can walk down these steep stairs and realize very quickly you can't metal detect today even though you looked at the surf charts and looked at the tour uh swell and you looked at the the uh the tide report and you come to this beach and it's absolutely none of what you predicted see we're at mountain road beach okay and you can hear those waves guys that's uh why you need earphones all right i think i got a good target here maybe a tent stake but i've dug a few bottle caps in this and this is so sanded in we got good amount of sand pushed in yes i'm missing it in every which way so tent stake probably doesn't sound like one though but oh jeez okay all right keep missing it there okay maybe it's down in here oh geez quiet are you kidding me it's going to be it's going to be a penny all that digging 20 whatever the hole all right this all the sand's a little wet guys that's why i kicked it got it my scooping skills the past two days have been awful and all that hard work guys hard-earned penny all right on to the next hell look who showed up all right well how you guys doing no i got a penny i've got like five bottle caps and a penny how you doing excellent excellent hi hi how are you good good we're excited we haven't been out metal detecting in a while so we got the edge me too and look how much sand i know yeah look how much sand look he had to dig out remember how this was standing up on the rocks pretty much now this thing is completely full of sand down there he had to dig a hole to climb up in so you know when i talk about pushing yeah so that means all that debris that was here gradually got pushed up in here's the problem it's got layers and layers of this nice fluffy fish poop lovely stuff yeah well white sands better than the black sands yeah so um andrew yes how that thing goes right through the emi stuff right yeah so i can go right up again yeah i would target that area hit it okay you know i i know i love that area but that thing's gonna carve right through it i know that the the wet area is gonna be a little hard because of the uh the tide right now yeah and how deep it is yeah well you don't realize how steep it really get i mean it gets steep yeah we were walking right now and i was like oh okay we're going in where'd you guys park at you must come in from that yeah we parked very friendly hotel yeah so like where our exit is usually on the street on pch all right i just wanted to show you guys that i am filling this monster penny hole but notice how fluffy the white sand is here very much like a florida beach i call it fish poop that's really what it is again all right i'm just gonna do a quick scan and some dry over here and then i'm gonna go and target in front of the hotels i really want andrew to get some gold today and his best opportunity is right in the area where we get high emi it's right in front of the good hotels okay guys is it a snake no okay okay you got a target right here i'm hoping it's just a dime or a silver ring moved it all right it's in the scoop something clanky is a penny all right um two pennies into this game so mountain road beach that i go to here that i call gold beach it has produced a lot of gold over the years for me but we really don't get the tourist from the other countries okay very this is strong three let's throw it out oh there we go okay look like a flavor packet for top ramen you know when i went to college this just i lived on that stuff you know it was also the stuff giving me headaches and i didn't realize it all right i'm gonna keep working around this area in the dry side and then start targeting wet you can tell somebody was sitting back in this little area here right i see bottle caps everywhere bottle cap here let's see if they got anything maybe a dime or another penny all right out let's go over here cloud like a dime 25 oh my goodness it's another penny it's gonna be one of those days on this beach but it's funny i've i've had frustrating days like this and then it's been rewarding just because you get gold but you know you never know what happens on this speech you never know a target right here but i'm wondering what i see got washed up there so i'm curious but here is really loud like aluminum can if i could detect it up here you know it's aluminum can so let's just take it out out i thought it was aluminum can it's so loud let's see what is it yeah a chunk of aluminum can must have been laying like this okay on to the next well let me show you i don't think you guys need my light on anymore i don't i know i don't need it fill this hole in it is so sanded in here which is great it's kind of one of the reasons i wanted to come here because when the sand does get pushed from the ocean back onto the beach i don't know if you've seen some of my videos but last time i was here it was all rock hardly any sand now you got feet of sand probably 10 to 12 feet higher of sand but that's what happens in the summertime on this beach it develops a bunch of sand and in the winter time it gets all washed out with the winter storms first of all these waves are pretty brutal this slope is pretty steep i think i got a good target right here but i'm not 100 sure about it i'm getting some grunts with it but there is some black sand here thinking it's slow now gold would be singing a little bit better put my coil on top of it whatever it is doesn't wash away nice and crisp now it's wet now take it up so you don't lose it there's that bottle cap come on yeah you gotta be fast right come on waves oh look at that beautiful it's a pool tab all right three pennies a pool tab and a bunch of bottle caps i wonder if they've done any i know irene's in my favorite spot right now i have found a lot of gold raindrop versus that but it's hit and miss you know what i mean oh you guys see that right that would have been up to my because i'm walking down a steep slope that would have been short sweat i'm not getting my shorts back yet quite a lot of detecting to do today whoa that's all iron there i'm trying to get down here as far as i can oh my god that sounds so good oh my goodness it sounds so good come on wave leave me alone the second burst come on you can see it take my feet away takes my feet away 18. i like 18s here oh be good to jim hey go to gym out we're going way up here oh it's a vape yeah so guys i'm just saying it's full of wax all right this stuff leaked into my through my finds bag onto my leg all right not this particular one but the last vape i got put this way started feeling funny by the time i got home i didn't realize it but it it literally soaked in through my shorts through my underwear and been pressing against my leg and the whole drive home and i started getting the munchies i'm tired feeling weird i couldn't figure out what happened look at that wave oh my goodness come on any chance of filling in that hole just got wiped out huh i just got done talking to andrew and he's not having much luck here either i got 14 15 here it doesn't sound crisp like a gold ring would sound but and take a scoop out so it's actually in here all right well i'll just dump it out up here all right what is that thing oh yes one of them there thingies a piece of wire copper wire wrapped in uh plastic you know like electrical wire it looks like a ground wire for some reason i get lots of copper open that's a big rock right there yeah big rock getting pushed up and then drag back out and wash back up it's awfully square and jagged for that motion i'm just gonna get a nice round rock to it here pretty soon this particular area that i'm at is one of my favorite places to metal detect when the conditions are just right so for those of you guys who watch my channel and i talk about forecasting beaches and the whole bit this is one of the beaches they cannot forecast no matter all the years of experience that i've had i want to but it is the man-made structure that causes the issue all right the sea wall all right i can predict everything but when the sand gets pushed up in or when this area is good and huntable and one day i was down here in the very spot where i'm at right now i had dug two rings right over near where andrew's at one frederick goldman gold band white gold band 14k and another one with full of diamonds and a cross on it and uh i came over here and a guy had a fishing net he was scooping up coins that were literally on the ground the whole thing was full of quarters i stopped like my gopro wouldn't work so i just started digging i think i got like just started picking up as many as i could with my beach scoop and i got probably about 14 or 15 dollars and quarters below they're all nasty green but this type of condition can't happen these waves are too strong right now but i keep checking back and that's why i'm here today i'm looking for one of those banner days and this is a beach i can't predict so i just have to get eyes on it that sounds pretty good indeed i'm gonna dig this cool tab i hope it's something other than a pool pad that sounds worse than a cool pad oh oh my god [Music] still says deep and oh there's rocks with that one and it sanded in my scoop 16 out of the hole oh my gosh irene oh my god i'm gonna get soaking wet you guys see it do we have to sneak up on it you might have to sneak up on this one i see it's shiny what number huh 17 18. hold on 15. 15 out of the hole go ahead oh no no no andrew you do irene you got to do it you guys you got nicer hands oh my god [Music] oh my gosh okay i have eyes i found a pair of earrings hey that's sweet uh i'm pretty sure it's junk can you uh wow use your eyes on this one oh my gosh uh there's definitely a writing is your goal is that gold i think that's gold it felt heavy 14k oh i'm sorry guys it's what i do not tutorial tuesday we need gym in ours okay we're doing guns and talks to people this is how it's okay guys i'm sorry i ignored you guys on this one uh oh credit where credit's due that is the find of the day goldbeat oh good i did have the gopro on it wouldn't turn on like why is it not working oh no gold beach strikes again i can't believe it i was just ready i was coming to talk to you see what you found because i've had three pennies yeah literally 75 cents so i almost paid for and i'm like looking and he's like hunkered over like he's sneaking up on something like this i'm like yeah he got something well for some reason one of my pennies was a wheat cent okay i didn't even notice until i just pulled it out and i must be missing the third penny fifty-five percent earrings 55-53 there's the third penny that is a wheat cent though that's interesting um definitely find a lot more tigers when we were here last time oh yeah you're finding more targets i was thinking just the opposite all right guys i'm coming back to hunting again i can't believe i just pulled another gold ring that is incredible gold beach pays me again that's why you dig those bottle caps pull tabs oh crap well you guys don't understand if i didn't back up that would have been over my waist see how steep it is oh that sounds good too that sounds good too 13-15 that sounds great oh sorry guys i was not paying attention that's one thing i need to be doing freaking start digging digging see this that was to my knees guys to my knees so i gotta pay attention here thank you wave for behaving now it sounds grumpy dog got it sounded so good for a while out same spot that's the same spot do it again oh my gosh it's an earring it's not a gold earring all right i took like three or four scoops out of this it was chirping away now it's kind of grunky with the camera on i wonder why that happens that way it sounds just like that gold rings here oh my gosh come on i think it may have got it or washed away it's quiet now and if it was a bottle cap he'd wash away i got it solid what do we got it is a penny all right that's my unspendable penny collection yeah i think i probably have the world's largest unsuspendable honey collection you need him to get gold oh my gosh there's another 1617 right here oh i love that sound oh my gosh oh my gosh oh that sounds so good stay there for me 17 18 acting just like before oh my gosh i saw something you guys see that i got my back turned ah spoon there we go all right i always wanted a spoon and i think i got a quarter right here maybe not now it sounds like a quarter sure and there's my quarter yeah so three pennies a quarter and a gold ring i'll take it i shut this off too soon guys that is so loud it's like a loot and can loud and car maybe oh i got a new lowered suv yeah i like it all tinted windows just not enough room for me to fit realistically all right let's take a look at yours all right we're preparing spoons guys i don't know i think are you and i was the same or no i think you might win let's see wait i don't know let's see what walco i don't know mine's got flowers on it that's true those are some nice knives yeah and this is what was being cooked with yeah okay that might have been a drug users actually yeah let's check nice stay away from drugs nice knife you got there oh i see you played naffy spooney before mike yeah yeah that is like i believe we all been uh scooped up yeah yeah so that means breakfast it's a drink so i feel like we keep breaking jim's bait because he keeps on fighting the gold but but how is it honest but beyonce that that gold ring is chunky pretty that is definitely breakfast burrito worthy for me guesstimate like seriously all right it's like dude that that's seven maybe more oh yeah more more that's as heaviest all right which steel and that stainless steel one was like eight oh i'm going seven seven and a half yeah always oh nice oh wedding oh yeah somebody a wedding there yes that's for sure oh yeah very nice i will i will i will marry you i already claimed you do that that's true hey i promote alkaline coffee and tea right and you're going eight i'm going to eat so he's he's gonna win with the high side okay guys here's the wrap up i dug quite a bit of garbage it wasn't a whole lot of garbage but quite a bit for mountain road beach guys let me explain something about mountain road beach the sand is always exchanging there day to day to day to day today most of the time that i hunt there i get probably three bottle caps and a little bit of trash and maybe a penny or two all right that's the honest truth okay and for those of you who know mountain road beach that's exactly what you get from there okay this time i found a few vape pins i found a razor blade that it did kick with my foot that should be a learning lesson for jim to be careful i found a lowered suv with tinted out windows i think it's kind of fitting for the neighborhood right uh you know they're very wealthy do that to their vehicles for whatever reason i found a very nice spoon that i'm sure i will probably use or throw into my spoon collection i found an earring i found a quarter i found four pennies one of them just happens to be a wheat cent i did not realize it at the time i do believe it was probably fairly dark and if it's the one i'm thinking of it's probably the one that it took me forever to get out of the hole and i did already throw in some olive oil another uh penny i'm not sure how old that one is but it was awfully encrusted so guys let's get to the bottom of this i went over to walk over to irene and basically say hey you ready to wrap it up here because all i had was three pennies and um i thought i was digging another bottle cap actually a pool tab right well look at that honking honking 14 karat gold and guys it's an art carved so guys i had a blast again with irene and andrew i know that that beach was starting to frustrate jim a little bit but you know when you pull 9.6 grams of uh 14 karat gold out of the ground that oh god that is a honking when i saw that ring drop guys i'm like oh my gosh wow and once again gold beach pays off for gym but i will be honest i get frustrated on the beach because i find a lot more of nothing than i do of something even though this fancy hotel and everything's just right that beach can extract stuff because of the sea wall really quick and what i look for is the opportunity where it shoves it back on which is really rare unless there's some type of event here in in southern california and i have a hard time predicting that beach i'm very good at forecasting almost all other beaches and i said almost all other beaches all right there's a few other just like that that bother me a little bit no matter how much i study the swells and the eddy currents and you know try to micro uh forecast how the beach is going to look you know mountain road beach just kind of frustrates me a little bit but we have a huge history that beach and i we go back a long time metal detecting i have friends of family that lived right there on that beach and they metal detected it frequently his name was russ and he was such a good guy he passed away last year and that's why you see jim metal detecting that beach because i always used to give him the respect that i would never go metal detect on that beach without metal detecting with him okay it's just something that jim always did and now that he's gone is something that i feel i feel his spirit every time i walk down those stairs so just know every time i go to mountain road beach jim feels his old buddy and his dad because his old buddy and his dad were actually one of the best friends so my dad and russ were almost best friends so they were really good buddies okay so that's the history that i have with mountain road beach and that's why i call it gold beach so it's a treasure all the way and speaking of treasures you guys met a true laguna beach treasure today her name is tan she is that bouncy bubbly asian lady that you saw just spring right into the camera right guys that's what she does she is an amazing human being and she has so much energy and she is exactly what laguna beach is all about i get so much energy by going to laguna beach the people are so wonderful i know it gets a bad rap because of all different kinds of political points of view but the people of laguna beach are awesome human beings every single one of them i will tell you it's one of my favorite places to visit so wherever you're at in this world and you're planning a trip and your metal detectorists don't rule out laguna beach it is a beautiful place to not only stay you can literally walk
