Battling One Of The Hardest Fighting Fish In The Gulf of Mexico!

[Music] thank you [Music] good morning y'all Captain call you here welcome back to the channel I'm out here 60 miles offshore currently on the Blackjack I got my two buddies with me here Jimmy Tran the Cobia Whisperer salty swigs y'all know him it's been a while since he's been on the boat that's actually the first time you've been on this boat right on the Blackjack kit yeah what do you think about it so far it sucks we got out early this morning got a good early start we're uh trolling right now as you can see the rig in the background we just left trying to find some bait right now amberjack season has just opened up today as well as Triggerfish so we're gonna start early and see if we can get on some monster amberjacks with some big hardtail baits we got some big Avid hxw Raptor reels that can hopefully turn their head and uh stop them from breaking us off but we've got a pretty day I think we're gonna get on some fish yo come y'all come along let's have a good time and get on some fish so we're trying to catch bait right now trying to catch some big hard Tails been having problems trying to get them to eat the uh Sabiki rigs which is basically just a rig with a couple hooks on it so swig's got a micro slow pitch jig on we probably should have spent a little bit more time inshore trying to get some hardtails because if we can't get some of these that means we're gonna have to use jigs which will catch amberjack but we're after some big ones and I prefer to use big hard tails what we got that's what it is a chub yeah look at that y'all amberjack and a chug what we call a Bermuda chub right here I don't know if these are good for bait or not but well we're going to try and drop them down on a big hook come on be a hardtail [Music] dude yeah another job [Laughter] look at him fired them up no it's another chub that one that's crazy man I'm gonna start running chub Charters sorry we hit the Troll Motor [Music] that's a fat one it's a fat one I don't know if amberjack eat those or not I mean I don't see why they wouldn't if they couldn't fit them in their mouth yeah another little Chub perfect that is a pretty fish very pretty fish gonna be dropping them on this hxw Raptor heavy duty gear we're going to get up close to this rig and just slowly drop them down and hopefully there's some big reef donkeys around So the plan is to get up close to this rig here we're going to slowly drop this bait down I'm gonna stay at the helm whenever he gets bit we're gonna pull off this rig because if we hook a big fish 40 or 50 or even more uh there's just pretty much no way to get that fish out of the structure because that is exactly where they go as soon as they get hooked all right we had to move to another rig the last rig had too many toothy Critters so we're in 375 foot now fixing to drop either say 270. yeah okay we got some good marks got a bait ready all right just a second I forgot the net so we're having to hand catch the baits thanks Tanner Tanner broke my neck swigs is three zero for three four three yeah so I'm gonna try my look we're using the whole rig basically the entire time not just the bait the same thing might happen to me but we're gonna try something different here I'm gonna let it down slow the way I can feel if we get a thump he's getting chased right now he's on he's on there he is put it in reverse let's go keep going that's a big one son go forward go forward and port keep going go and go oh we got to get them away keep going go all right this this speed's good right here look at all the water in the boat from backing down keep going pull his head away I don't want him turning back yo we call this the Captain Morgan I'm just pulling them right now that's right we're pretty good ways away from it all right all right Jimmy you can you put it neutral actually matter of fact keep it keep it in gear keep them swimming this way and I don't think it's no 50 pounder but it's got to you're good right now we all don't come out here and do this if you ain't ready to get your butt whooped because these fish are not any joke there he is keeper I hope so after all this hustling and fussing I've got going on over here look at that one buddy what are you doing I'm trying to get this thing in 40 pounder right there that's a big one yeah that's a big girl oh yeah as a host oh my gosh oh just give me a second let me catch my breath real quick that is what we call a reef donkey y'all super powerful fish this one's probably would you say about 40 pounds 45 something like that it is finally nice to be able to get revenge on these fish after all the the months of catching them and not being able to keep them that is a lot of meat off that fish right there and I personally like the meat a lot of people say they don't because they got worms but hey that's just more protein yeah baby oh we're gonna bleed this fish out make the meat a lot wider then we're going to try and catch some more bait and get some bigger ones this is key y'all yeah to make the meat so much better y'all don't do this with baked fish that's a lot a lot of blood in that fish just came out just from that little cup [Music] I don't know if we're gonna go to put three in there though let's figure it out first AJ is in the boat got Jimmy dropping down one of those Bermuda chubs we're looking at the water chain the watercolor change here we don't know if that's mud or poop that's poop it could be either or but y'all look at the screen right here I mean we're marking 150 foot to 300 foot could be anything could be Jacks there's sharks everywhere around the boat though yeah yeah all these barracudas and sharks are so bad around these rigs keep getting cut off you would drop the one bait that hooks a 45 pounder what can I say what can I say you would go away see can't do anything man [Music] they're everywhere all right all right let's go hey we actually got our rig back that time good good yo I didn't have it recorded but I just caught a white trout we're like 60 miles offshore I might have another one I don't know this current is just ripping out here right now trying to catch bait something we can throw down with these big amberjack but I think we're just gonna have to uh use jigs because it's just not happening today swigs just called a silver reel yeah on the jig silver heel and white trout that's what we're on right now yeah might be a peanuts Camp you never know it is another white trout holy crap yeah we're in 230 foot away look at this swedes you got a real one on the spinning setup oh yeah I got a real something right here oh my gosh it has been a tough day today finding bait for one and trying to get some big fish to finally eat swigs has got one look we're having to pour water on the sucker do it again Jimmy cool it off baby come on get them up I mean are you gonna play with this fish or bro you see me gaining I don't even know if he's legal you don't have to spool have you caught a legal Amber Jack on that setup before yeah yeah does it feel like one yeah all right we are 0.15 miles away from the structure so he's he should be good this will be a feat here swigs if you get them up on this Spin and Tackle I would you think I'm cool yeah you're cool if you if you get them up on this if he's legal if he's not then you're not cool the hungry grease that reel you just go ahead and replace them drag washers they're melted anyways it looks like a good one I'm telling you you're like it ain't a keeper is it an AP no that's a hops of an AJ all I'm not using the spinning gear that is a fact that was a good fish on the uh unknown vertical jig speed jig I don't even know what brand that is to be honest but it got the job done baby there it is number two look at that mouth y'all hey you got a little blood on your shirt right there oh no look at the deck are you and you're not even coming to help clean the boat that's the benefits of being picked up I wouldn't mind going to water but I don't really want to it's per se oh my God it looks like you're casting out at the end here do me a favor [Music] I gotta go to the gym I know I said [Applause] I think we got us a big amberjack he peeled line for about a good what 30 40 seconds pretty much wore out from jigging for about 20 minutes straight yeah this right here will wake you up man what you were tired yeah we're gonna back this drag down just a little bit swigs is keeping us in gear just to keep that fish moving [Music] I know he ripped out at least 100 yards main thing is to keep that line tight you don't want to give them any slack we really don't have anything to worry about where we're at right now just pointing this Rod to him a real one putting gear put it in gear he's got head shakes like amberjack he lost about 120 degrees out here drench and sweat fall oh yeah it's done got nice on us dude he felt so much bigger than that oh man [Laughter] yeah he's a keeper he's putting neutral I think it's just because I'm wore out yeah I guess I mean it ain't much they do not care that blows my mind I mean still a good keeper hold up for you Gathering let's see yeah that's that's a good that's good keeper size that blows my mind right there though wow yeah oh yeah I'm done let's go catch some Croaker and white trout right there swings is holding up for me because I'm too tired to hold it that's a good 25 30 pounder probably 27. what do you say yeah it's right under 30. I'd say he was not coming off no that's a perfect hook set and that is a 11-0 eagle claw heavy duty circle hook crimped with a 150 pound test let me get let me hold them up real quick I got enough energy go ahead that is a lot of meat right there y'all brief donkeys this is the Beast of the reefs doesn't get any more stronger or powerful than this fish right here good fish plenty of meat we've got our three-man limit so I think we're just gonna go mess around at this point grab a trigger see what else we can do oh that's a hard tail oh my gosh we've been looking for that all day your own again hey put him in the live well that's a magnum dude and I got my trigger fish how come we didn't start here what are we doing man golly look at them y'all they're chasing it they're right behind them no I don't think he'd make it but there there's a crap ton of them I got you I got you all right get back oh leave it he's about to get it again [Laughter] nice right at the boat dude foreign tail oh oh ah what is that Amica a bunch of amateurs there's that short that big bull oh my God look at that big boom holy crap oh my gosh there's two of them that's a hardtail what I got playing with him right now there's another don't fall over I mean I got my bait in the water shark there they are now amberjack ate the hard to I think [Music] he did damn reject ate the hardtail [Music] can you even see yours shut up and get this done [Laughter] all right y'all we had an awesome time out there as you can see we got our three-man limit of amberjack got back we had a lot of problems trying to catch some live bait this morning I mean it it was tough we probably spent three or four hours trying to catch hardtails which is abnormal for you know this time of year hitting Rigs and structures and stuff but caught one yeah we got it done had a good time while we're at it and uh you know this is a lot of meat right here so each of us is going to take one of these fish home and I'd say I mean we're going to yield at least 20 at least 20 30 pounds of meat off these fish right here but I hope you all enjoyed it if you did please hit that thumbs up button for me hit that subscribe button if you enjoy all types of salt water fishing we'll see you back out on the next one
