Bathroom Decorating Ideas | Interior Design | Fix it Fridays #12

today I'm going to show you my favorite powder room of all time how do rooms are a room that you can do something kind of fun in because well you're not in it very long so you're not going to get tired of it as fast it's an important room in the house it's not a room you should overlook because just about every guest who comes into your home will at least be and whatever the main room is that you bring him into and your powder room he took a walk through the model home and the powder room in the model looked like this which was very much what a lot of powder rooms look like typically they have a pedestal sink there's no place to put any toilet paper or any towels soap or anything so I didn't want to do a pedestal sink that this is what a lot of them have a typical oval or plain mirror and then your average chrome and faceted glass light bar this is how you come down the hallway and enter the powder room originally this was the dining room here in a place that I put a built in these legs on this table are so incredible talk about nice legs my clients do not drink alcohol and this was a door into a small wine pantry so what I did was I asked the contractor to remove that wall and to drywall this closed that gave us all this extra space in this powder room which was much more functional than it would have been to keep an empty closet there I've known people who have Hall closets or cabinet space that they don't use not very many most people who stuff them full of all kinds of crap but there's all kinds of ways to find more space for your rooms so as you come into the powder room and you see this this is now that new area that we gained this gave me a chance to put in a chest of drawers here and I used a bow front that means it kind of bows around in the front that's why it's called a bow front I found this Chevron patterned marble stone hello is that gorgeous it's not often we get to put something this beautiful in a powder room are you discouraged because you think you can't afford stone behind the wall of your sink I got an idea for you paint it you could paint a chevron pattern on the wall behind your sink that's the point here when I'm showing you projects that are not as relatable the design principles are still the same notice I didn't make the stripes or the Chevron's all the way around don't do that just just the back wall that's all you need and then the floors were as in the rest of the house this gorgeous rough-hewn rustic walnut wood look how wide this hallway is I just love this house and I kept the floors running in the same horizontal position I'm holding this because I don't want you to peek does that floor scare you because it's wood just make sure you have some good homeowners insurance and you can get new wood in a few years I'm skinny that's coming out of the wall not the ground why I chose to do wall mount faucets this is a very beautiful chrome faucet the next step was for me to design a custom vanity do you see how it too has that bow front I used brown Cohiba granite on the top with a very beautiful hoji edge now let me tell you if you ever do a vessel sink in one of your bathrooms whether it be a powder room or master bathroom if you do that make sure that your countertop is lower this is 4 inches tall so we had to make this orange is lower than you normally would I put in two outlets because I wanted to hang pendant lights I didn't want to put them on here on the stone I wanted to hang them on the side you know what I looked for a long time about which mirror I was going to put up up here so I thought the shape of this was beautiful I also didn't want to cover up too much of the stone wall so by bringing it in it really enhances and you get to see more of the stone but look what we have here this leg is all the way to the side edge of the vanity and I remember getting a call from the contractor saying what are we going to do about the baseboard the legs go side to side you touch the wall with it now finally they said yeah that's problem it gives me a baseboard I said hey Robo just cut the baseboard and they go around it and start again the pay attention to detail like this is what makes our homeowners so happy that they hired Robson design this wall was supposed to go like this and be just your typical bathroom you have a vessel sink in your bathroom linea comment below if
