foreign oh hello hello hello welcome back to hunter 2 and today we are finally getting to test out barney's new setup on the dyno so if you guys watch one of the previous videos you know that i did upgrade some stuff on my eg coupe here uh it's kind of my civic drag car it has a ls vtec engine with b16 rods and ctr pistons and a whole mess of junk uh it's got cast ctr pistons from i think they're nipping i'm not 100 sure on what brand the pistons are the rods are the some guy sent me a link for 120 dollar h-beam connecting rods and i got them just for the hell of it just to see like how bad they were um and to maybe do some testing with them and uh they have been in the motor now for i think i've made two track days with it it's been mid tens in the quarter and uh it's been doing really good we have a twin disc clutch in it m factory uh lsd differential i just rebuilt the transmission because it broke fourth gear the last time i tried it with a new setup i just ran it on the street and it was a tunnel vision it was pretty neat it was fast um we got a vs racing dual ball bearing billet next gen 6262 on here with 82 ar exhaust housing three and a half inch up pipe um this is the rev9 top mount manifold that i've had for the last couple years and it's been doing really well um also it's really funny these connecting rods the ebay listing when i found them and i don't know where they are i don't even know what brand it was i'll have to look maybe and maybe i'll i'll update you guys eventually on them but uh the listing said no more than 7000 rpm like stated in big bold print do not run these cheap ass rods at seven above seven thousand so what i did is i got the rods and i inspected the bolts that came with them and the bolts were pretty much made of um plastic like they were just garbage bolts so all i did was take a set of arp bolts and i put them in those rods had them i checked the size on them they were all really good and then we chucked it together with some bearings and here we are a couple months later still running so we're going to push this thing see how much it's going to take um access power intercooler kit that i got the other ti the other week vs racing four inch intercooler we switched to a tile wastegate i put on the car uh it has snake eater 1500 cc injectors uh walbro 525 fuel pump that's about it competition twin disc uh some good stuff ferreira valves uh valve springs in the head and then it has type r b series camshafts [Applause] it also has trevor's trying to remind me i also put an ati street damper crank pulley on it um and it has an acl orbital high flow bulletproof oil pump in it uh so all these parts kind of combined have made this piece of engine actually pretty reliable uh the oil pump helped i think uh polishing and chamfering the crankshaft oiling holes always seems to help me out and then obviously the damper to keep vibration out of the bottom end as much as possible because this is a stock balance engine um it was not like blue printed or anything fancy i chucked it together you know about 10 feet from here so uh here we go hopefully it doesn't explode uh yeah hopefully we don't have any issues with boost leaks and yeah we're just gonna send it i have the slicks on the car right now on the dyno which probably isn't good for them but uh we're just gonna we're gonna send it because i don't have i really don't want to run it with 13-inch steelies because that's all i have other than these uh first hit i'm just gonna kind of uh get the car running good again it should be fine it's got ngk spark plug 9 heat range in there right now so we should be good for a lot of boost i'm hoping and i'm just going to run it on wastegate for the first run which is around 15 pounds and then we're going to slowly creep into it and hopefully hit 30 by the end of the day so we're going to see what kind of power this new setup is going to make and i'm really excited to get this thing out to the track and test it i'm really hoping that the transmission's gonna shift good uh because this transmission i just put it all back together um and it shredded fourth gear completely off so here is the fourth gear that just came out of the car from one one test day with the with it on the street uh i had the slicks on it and i think it wheel hopped you know shifting from third to fourth and that's why it broke but i would like to maybe do some experimenting with these transmissions uh if i feel up to it such as i was thinking about getting the gears like chirogenically uh treated which is like a extreme cooling process where it just makes the metal molecules a little bit closer packed together otherwise maybe one day if i you know hit the lottery i'll buy a dog box or something for the car so we can really go fast uh but that's the struggle with these things is getting them down the track and getting the gears and not breaking the transmissions the engines are awesome but uh anywho enough blabbing let's uh let's get the dyno set up here i'm gonna do uh my first run here on wastegate pressure and we'll uh we'll see what she lays down me so all right guys so first pull uh tune-up's right on uh it's a little little rich up top it's not bad uh but it is making uh 450 on the same boost okay this is really cool so currently car just made 449 wheel horsepower 16 pounds of boost i spun it 8 600 rpm and uh it is doing exceptionally well wow uh that that is awesome look at that freaking power curve guys attack vtec could probably come down just a smidge uh to get the turbo lit a little faster uh like i said there was 16 pounds of boost the car's best um horsepower that it made with the old setup was 460 and that was on like 20 ish pounds i don't quite remember what i had it on um but for this being on wastegate pressure alone 16 pounds um i think i got 18 degrees of timing in it right now let's see here look i'll show you the log 17 degrees of ignition 16 and a half pounds of boost uh 59 injector duty uh yeah looking awesome super stoked hell yeah um the one thing that i think was limiting this combo was prior to the car making this power is it it actually um had a crack in the turbo manifold the intercooler was a backdoor style and i think it was limiting flow i don't know why if it had it had a cracked end tank on the intercooler that we fixed the manifold and then the turbo we changed showed all custom offsets maybe they'll give me some wheels for my truck yeah um trevor you uh we got trevor this acura tl for 800 bucks this thing is a sweet ride it's got a slight slip in third gear yeah it's not bad but it's because of the turbo you know yeah it just makes so much 35 pounds of boost on that baby yeah i mean wow you really made this thing factory appearance i know wow very nice setup um it's really surprising that the hood's still closing it doesn't you just just smash it just smash it down wow it looks like a uh vs racing turbo from huntertoon.com it looks good on there honestly yeah yeah only dreams came true right right oh boy uh also my diesel truck here guys i did some work too i have um i put a new door and a new fender on this truck i bought it and had a smashed up fender and door and i just replaced the door and the fender on it and uh the diesel's been doing real good i'm really happy with my purchase on this thing it gets like 24 miles of freaking gallon and i can pull i can hook up anything i want and pull it so uh yeah let's let's uh turn it up see what she does turned up a little bit oh i'm plugged that quick the only thing i am a little bit nervous about is the uh the fitting right here on my intercooler pipe where i get my boost source from that goes to the solenoid for the boost controller is a little loose because i uh broke the line actually yanked out because when i removed the intercooler pipe when i redid the transmission i actually yanked my air line out and i broke the fitting so i had to just take the fitting off and pop a new one on i didn't actually thread it because i jb welded the threads on the intercooler pipe here but um we'll see if she holds up it seems like it's doing all right it's just one of them like air brake uh hose fittings they're like a push connect they work really well so now we are going to change a boost here i have a four port solenoid on the car and i believe somewhere around 30 25 to 30 uh activates the solenoid and we get a little bit more boost some like 20 pounds 22 pounds maybe um so currently in second gear i am running 30 duty cycle um you can actually set up these tables on here to do so like if 30 duty cycle equals 20 pounds of boost you can type down here [Applause] um there's a boost table right here so if 20 pounds of boost equals 30 duty cycle you can just punch it in here and then type in what boost you want down here but i just do it from duty cycle i don't know i just kind of have muscle memory like all right i know 30 duty cycle is is halfway jamming 35 is three quarters of the way jamming and 40 is all of the sauce and probably gonna break so we'll try 30 duty cycle see what kind of boost we hit um we'll just upload that so we're gonna be running 30 duty cycle on this next one uh the timing around 21 pounds or so i'm running 14 degrees right now um i might play with the timing a little bit once we get the boost leveled out um but like i said this is a stock like reused arp head stud motor that's i don't know i don't know how far the head gasket will seal we'll see i don't know how far the pistons are gonna go it's got uh chris boyet block filler in it i don't know how far that stuff's gonna go i don't know we should just rip it [Music] oh so that one run was about 20 20 and a half pounds of boost and it did pick up some power 477 so we made about four more pounds of boost and it went from 450 to 480. actually let me verify exactly how much more boost we made so that one run was on 16. this one was on 20 20 pounds so yeah definitely picked up power but we pulled we're also running four degrees less ignition um than before so it's on or not four degrees we're running was it 16 degrees before we're currently running 14 degrees all right guys so we're going to change the duty cycle from 30 to 33 some of these four ports around a certain spot they get really picky and they only like to go one or two percent at a time um and i also cleaned up my fuel map up at higher rpm a little bit because it was like 12 00 12 20 and then when it would get up pliered rpm it would go like 11 3. um so yeah we're gonna just run it now with the cleaned up fuel turn the boost up a smidge and after we get the boost leveled out around like maybe 30 pounds or so i'm gonna start playing with timing to see what it's gonna like because currently my timing map is kind of conservative i think at 28 pounds of boost i only got 10 degrees in it and 31 pounds i have eight and then it goes six degrees four degrees um and i feel like there's a point at some point of boost where you kind of have to stop pulling timing out because the engine gets so inefficient at such low amounts of ignition timing like anything below like 15 degrees of timing is is not firing properly so i'm just nervous to run that kind of timing or anything really more than what i have in it right now because i know the car's been reliable with this timing um i just we'll play with it and find out what it likes [Music] [Music] [Music] so that was uh 22 pounds of boost the air fuel was actually kind of lean but i stayed in it to see if it likes it or not um it was like a 12 20 air fuel 13 degrees of ignition i might richen it up and give it timing uh instead of running it leaner with less timing kind of thing uh but like i said every car is a little different we'll have to just play with it and see what it wants 500 made 500 t-bags in oh just by the nic just by that was two more pounds of boost but the fuel was leaner cleaners meaner dog leaners meaner so uh 506 22 pounds 8 600 13 degrees of timing we will uh i'm gonna do some tweaks i'll let you guys know what we come up with for uh power number or not power number but where we're gonna kind of quit i guess let you know all right so what i'm gonna do now is we're gonna give the car two degrees because i feel like it should make more power per pound of boost than it is and i feel like it's because i had a decent amount of ignition in it at like 14 pounds but as it's going up and boost i feel like it's gonna need more timing so i am going to put two degrees in it okay so we just put two degrees of timing in on the vtec side i'm leaving boost alone and i'm also going to richen up the mixture because it was a little lean wasn't like terribly lean but i'm gonna make i'm gonna richner up so sorry if you're a little wobbly my freaking honda data keeps freezing i can't date a log right now [Music] i'm still on the same boost though i'm giving you oh you weren't even recording it's recording now bull well it just made 538 i don't know if t-bag hit the record button or not 538 328 foot-pounds same boost i richened it up from a 12-2 air fuel to an 11-5 11-6 and i put two degrees in it and it made 30 horsepower so we're gonna try to maybe put some more in it too why not hunter hates that i lowered the car i think it looks cool hmm [Music] picked up exactly 10. it's all about just shy 550. [Music] good hmm yeah it's got more in it bro [Laughter] i'm still trying to work out to do it look how much i brought that up though so this is the old run i stood this up a lot better but i still have to work out this little bug but damn 616 wheel horsepower 9200 rpm hell yeah i'm stoked this is less than 30 pounds of boost this is still like 27 26.8 pounds i think i saw and how much timing do we have in it at that boost like this thing is making some stink lots of power i mean we're using 84 of a 1500 cc injector if that tells you anything 14 degrees of ignition at 26.9 pounds of boost hell to the yeah there you go 32 pounds you got yourself a 700 horsepower car i'm good dude i'm just gonna go race it as is and see what it does but thanks for watching guys hopefully you enjoyed the dyno session with barney today uh we made a great improvement compared to the last setup and it has no sign of slowing down guys uh hopefully the transmission stays in it and uh it won't yeah it won't it'll break but uh i'm really curious how fast i can go with this much power i think she'll be in the nines i'm hoping as long as i can shift the thing and it hooks up and man this car just sounds like an animal it is it is awesome my goal was 600 with this motor and it just did it with ease with the new setup i'm super excited uh thank you all for watching and stay tuned for more yeah i gotta fix that but uh new next gen vs racing 6262 let me know if you guys need one um on this little smaller stroke motor it is making some serious stink and i have no issue thinking that this turbo can go seven eight hundred horsepower um i have two of them for a v8 that we will do some experimenting with as well um coming soon so thanks for watching guys have a great night and a better tomorrow say bye t-bag [Music] you
