hi everyone welcome back to the channel and a long awaited video we're back on the old motorhome today we are going to attempt to get all of the little jobs done on this and get it through it's mot i know quite a lot of you have been looking forward to this getting this motorhome back to its former glory i've been doing little bits in the background ordering up little parts for it i did notice in the comments of some recent videos quite a lot of you say guys quite a lot you guys say when you're going to get back on that project when you're going to finish that project and why can't you concentrate on one and guys the odds really if we concentrated and just done five videos on this i know a lot of you are going to say i'll watch all of them but that's not really how we do it it for us it would be quite tedious it'll be quite boring and also we need to get all the bits together for it so doing that first initial video is always a good thing for us to get it out there and also it gives you guys something to look forward to so like the hilux truck get quite a lot of comments on that it's sitting there it's not losing any money we are trying to source a bed for it i know a lot of you keep saying make up a flatbed for it guys that's not something we want to do like the australian flatbeds it doesn't really get used in this country so we're not going down that route we are going to pull this into the workshop and attack it straight away and try and get the mot foul jobs done and actually get an mot on it let's get it in the workshop and crack on [Music] we did end up getting carried away and there really is not a lot to show chris got underneath to have a good look here and it just got cracking a couple of them bolts was missing chris right one stud one nut missing and one snapped off so we are removing the complete manifold it was definitely blowing behind the manifold because this little cover was over it and then when you spin it over you can see all the soot in there so that's where it's been blown from where those two bolts were missing and this was actually bolted on to the manifold through the manifold bolt so i think he's got one more left under there to get out then we'll put it on the bench and have a look at it so a bit of work laying down underneath there but as you can see the manifold is off we've got one snap bolt there in the shield but that's not going to be an issue to get that out that's going to be fine we'll drill that out and re-tap it but you can see clearly it was actually i think that end in particular let's zoom out a little bit so you can see that these are blowing they shouldn't be like that but these gaskets are actually toast anyway they're falling apart this one's got half of it missing and i believe it was this end and you can see the carbon build up around there where they was blowing now this one here didn't have a bolt in it and this one here actually had a snapped the nut had been snapped off and that is that is still in the head at the moment we got drilled out the one that chris snapped off as you can see he did manage to get that out and those three wound out as well and this one if you look closely you see all these proper studs i've got a smooth center in them so they sort of bottom out there and then the manifold goes on so this one is actually just a piece of thread somebody's cut down or cut the head off of a bolt and that was in there as well so it wasn't right so we've got one more in the head there that we're going to drill out with a little side drill and then run the tap down that but i've just rung the motor factors and i've ordered all new gaskets for it and some new bolts as well so moving on quite well with it we're now going to move on to i'm going to pop out and get them we're going to move on get that wheel off start cleaning up that area that needs a bit of welding [Music] chris made quite light work of that and you can tell it was just this bit and when he started cleaning up his seam sealer actual little hole appeared here as well which is going to need doing it is only just one skin there but the reason i'm cutting in now if you can see that's actually a weld around there and somebody's actually put a patch in here before but what they've done is they've actually just gone over the top of all the grot that was there when chris hit it the inner skin actually fell out and it's all of that there is probably the equivalent of this again behind it's actually all gone now it's all fallen out so we're gonna actually cut this piece right out and replace it and replace the inside one as well and just get it done properly this time get it sealed up so that this doesn't ultimately it doesn't happen again you can see it's just i've just tickled tickled off the edge of the welts there but haven't actually gone all the way down flush and then you can see it's all black it's got all black seam sealer painted all over it so yeah we're going to get in there and actually grind that up and cut that bit completely out and replace it [Music] [Music] chris got stuck in there he said somebody had had a go at it before and basically they've just gone over the top of it and covered everything up really so this plate here is actually meant to be down here and down here you can see there's a piece missing out of it there so that should be square and come down to here and then obviously this skin here goes over the top of the whole lot and then they sandwich so like a sandwich you're free there so he just said look you know let's just do it right do it once do it right so he's cut that bit out chris is going to put a plate in there for that weld it to this grind it all up and then we'll actually make a plate to go and completely cover all this up so it just look it'll look back to original pretty much and then it will all be safe that little piece that was left here with a hole in it was actually spot welded on here so that's where that plate actually went it went straight across up there that inside plate so he's just getting a bit of tin out now and he's going to try and replicate that the best he can clean that up and then put another plate over the top so so far so good and like i just said we'll do it right this time and then it's done i know you all got worried after that last video guys we never stopped coming around kendall a salvage for our bits they're they're our local go-to place washer pump for the motoring let's get back and get that fitted chris is in the background there making up the plates for the chassis i've been round picked up both of these lower ball joints these was actually only an advisory chris wasn't they but you know that was cheap it just come to like 50 pound round there for a new gasket for the manifold those two and you've got a nice new set of wiper blades there for it as well so the washer pump you see i've just been running ken auto salvage this is the original i tried doing i tried doing something with it but it's c solid but as you can see it's got a tiny little inlet on the end of it and these ones that i went around kent all those and got are actually a lot lot bigger you can see it there so um we just stuck the bung back in used it as a bit of a guide i've got a little hole saw out and i've actually made that hole bigger and i've just had that in there with the rubber and it fits perfect so i'll get that fitted and get that back in and that's another little job all done seems to be getting through this one pretty quick guys i've just fitted the wiper plates they're now on there the old ones to be fair really didn't look that bad but you know what they're only cheap we've chucked to set on the washer pumps in there where i'm running around testing all bits like that we have put the surge protector on there because i don't want to disconnect the battery why chris is around there doing that bit of welding i can carry on this headlight's got an issue we know it has it it's very very dim so i can crack on and mess around and play with that also got a nice new set of number plates so i'm going to be getting them swapped out you got that first plate in there chris in place so chris has got that first plate in there which is the middle skin or the inside skin the middle skin is going to get that welded up and then grind that up and then just one nice plate set in so it's not getting welded on top like the previous plate you're actually inserting it in there so we'll let chris crack on and do that and i'll get on and do all of the other little jobs fingers crossed we'll be able to get this one back for a re-test subject to the exhaust being done [Music] front and rear number plates now all fitted this headlight bulb in particular when i pushed on the back of it it actually brightened up the same as the other one but as you can see it is quite mucky so i've cleaned up the plug and i've put a brand new bulb in it i've just tested the lights and they're perfect now chris's little work of art down here it's just perfect he's got a couple of spot welds in there so he's got all these plug worlds here to do a bit more welding down there and then that's pretty much done happy chris isn't it yeah and there's no more welding to do for the mot it was just that bit so yeah we'll get that done a bit of cleaning up and uh make a start on the exhaust that's gonna be the testing bit where's that gasket gone chris i thought i'd actually got the wrong gasket this morning because it's all one piece and when i got here chris said now you have to actually snip those and they'll go on individually but lucky to get it really he did say it's just a peugeot part because ultimately these are peugeots aren't they so yeah really coming along and shake the back number plate it's just nice putting all new screws in them like i've put the the yellow caps on the end of it it just looks nice and in the front when i put the right colors in there as well but overall not loads and loads of work removed that fan well quite a bit of work there for chris but getting all those little jobs done weren't too bad at all really moving along nicely i've just done the lower ball joint the other side you probably see the new thread sticking out there there's the old one to be honest it wasn't that bad but let's just bend it over it is starting to perish and it is leaking a little bit around there so we've done one i'm now going to move on and do this side quite straight forward to do you've got that one main bolt at the bottom there and then you've got four seven things up here to undo you have to pull this arm down out of the way so that's the welding work on this actually done chris done a lovely job of that what we are actually gonna do chris just said we do it because it does it's nice for the mot tester we're actually gonna i'm gonna get this done under here and then we're gonna crack on with the exhaust and chris said we're actually going to take it for a re-test just like that so that the mot tester can see exactly what we've done because believe it or not chris was just saying it's so easy to hide a repair and just you know you could have bits of this missing cover it and seam sealer and they would never know and that's not what we want someone had already done half the job last time so it's done correctly this time he's going to see it and also there is some other little bits of surface rust on the edges around here so what we'll do when we get back after the mot or a completely separate video when we're doing say house is actually clean all of this up and redo the whole lot so it's all really nice and tidy under there let's crack on get this last ball joint done so we can move on to the exhaust [Music] [Music] that's now all fitted guys just had a bit of a tidy up and there's the one off of this side and as you can see that is actually split and it was only that one that it was advised on but when when you get older these they should be pretty tight it's very very loose that one that one there to be fair is quite tight and that that would have been fine but it just made sense to change them as a pair while we were there so i spoke for them done let's move on now to the hardest part which is going to be that exhaust pipe we need to get that all fitted back on chris has drilled out those bolts in the manifold and got these bit of stud at the head on this one so we're going to get all them gaskets on there and get that fitted there we go guys i have managed to book it in for a re-test this afternoon so i'm going to be taking it over there at the moment but on here headlamp not working that's done position lamp done registration plate both changed suspension on ball joint excessively worn was only one but we've changed both of those windscreen washers change that pump they're now working perfect two new wiper blades two repairs there minor defects windscreen wiper blades like i said they've been changed so we've got a few advisories left on there but a couple of those advisories without we have actually done so exhaust mounting the rubbers i went around and got some new ones they're now on there that front tyre there was an advisory and as you can see compared to the other one it's quite mucky that's actually the spare and it is a new tyre so we put that on and it's another advisory to strike off but that's now running and it's got no blow in it at all it sounds completely different perfect i'm going to get the gates open and get it over to the mot and actually get year's mot on this guys we've done it we're all legal beagle i can actually jump in this now if i want to go away on it or take it out for the day i can now do it it's got a year's mot on it it has still got some advisories on here we did do a few of them like that tyre and something else we did do there is still some advisories on here but they're all bits that we're going to eventually do on the motorhome anyway so you know like underneath the surface rust he said you can just bring that back you can just um spray some undercoat on there some some shuts and actually leave it like that but that's not what we want to do we want to get under there actually clean up the parts i've got surface rust on them treat it and then cover it up with some sealer so that it lasts forever more the two little bits on the on the back just behind the back wheels lower down we're actually just gonna order a seal panel and then chop it up and use that to repair those two little back bits so eventually we will be doing that but yeah it's got years mot until um may 2022 so it is now good to go and didn't really cost us a lot of money a very small amount of money spent there on bits to actually get it done and get it through the mot quite a bit of work there for chris getting that front sorted out but it is all in a day's work and now it's got that mot on it i'm going to leave it up to you guys you know what do we do next on it should we start doing the outside getting all of it looking really nice or do we start on the inside giving it a massive cleanup because it definitely needs one all these curtains have got come down i'd really like to try and get them dyed a different color because they were a bit flower power and very old-fashioned looking and we do want to pull it together the best we can so let me know in the comments section what you think we should do with it next i will probably actually start using this now now that that exhaust is not blowing because it had quite a horrible smell of fumes in here it drives so much better it actually physically feels better to drive and it's very very quiet when it's ticking over you can hardly even hear it everything's working windscreen wipers washers temperature gauge fuel gauge all of that is back to it's good now where it was sat for quite a while everything kind of seized up i also charge the auxiliary battery and i plugged it in and we'll save that for the next one but you'll be pleasantly surprised that nearly everything in here works and when i say nearly everything there were some bits i couldn't test but so far so good i've turned it on and everything seems to be working guys i'm not going to go on any longer as usual if you do enjoy it please do give us a thumbs up we really appreciate it and it shows your appreciation drop your comments in the comment section down below let us know what you think we should do with it next like subscribe
