Bar Hopping in Shinjuku with Magical Trip! | Hidden Bars in Tokyo

Hello everybody welcome back to Tokyo creative play I'm your host Emma and today I'm here with Jordan and Sarah hi guys and today we have come to Shinjuku to do a little bit of drinking a little bit of bar hopping a little bit of eating and have a good time today we're going to go on a tour by the company magical trip so if you guys don't know magical trip they host uh local tours with local guides all over Japan so if you guys are trying to figure out what you want to do when you come to Japan uh sometimes you know you Google you try to find some things but you can't go very deep but with magical trip they have local guides that can help show you the little underground things that you wouldn't be able to find other ways so yeah tools all over Japan Hiroshima Osaka Kyoto check them out guys very very fun but for now let's uh let's go and meet our guys yeah let's go let's get drinking yay it oh my gosh it is so cold but our guide is here it's coming hello welcome to Japan everybody nice to meet you my name is Tommy I'm the tour guide I like drinking so let's drink together and compete so today we are going to three different boards first bar is in omoide yokocho memory lane so let's go okay let's go let's drink Drake [Music] for this so this is the first bar so I think we're gonna go upstairs oh nice so we're gonna climb the ninja stairs so it's kind of steep my knees yeah okay let's try let's go beautiful [Music] oh that's steep um bro [Music] ta-da ah it's so warm in here [Music] so welcome to the Forest Bar yeah and this is our magical menu magical menu wow so they are my favorites only Nick okay so my favorite drinks and then my favorite bar fruits yeah please choose yeah so this is actually all in English so if you guys are worried about going to all these local bars because of the magical trip tour you guys actually get a special English menu as well yeah it has all like these descriptions so if you're a first time climbing Japan you don't know what to eat there's all this information of course you can ask Tommy like what goes well with what and each place you go to it's like a special menu so it's perfect yeah wow I think I already know what I want so quick I don't know yet what are you getting I'm gonna mess you girl oh I'm gonna miss your garlic a little plum wine what's your favorite I mean you're the pro I like sochu sold you straight see [Music] [Applause] I got an oolong hi ulo I got a umesha soda and beer nice guys fantastic oh my God it's so good oh this is a really good one yeah can you make him a shoe that was so fast whoa first sip yeah whoa refresh I like it we can hang out of the day this is why you're the professional you're gonna that's why you're the the drinking so yeah I couldn't finish all yeah that's my best and that was the biggest I need an instant replay of that our food is here oh I got my agadashi tofu so fried tofu with soup oh so good what'd you get I got potato salads I love potato salad is okay it's so good and I got an agadashi as well as well as you sushi nikomi so this like beef soup tendon yeah yeah oh what a cool guy um fantastic if you have never had this style of tofu like it's the best it's literally my favorite it's like sweet soft chewy it's still got that little bit of crunch on the outside they're being fried and the like the dash is so good yeah and there's like daikon in it I don't know why but this is Smoky and it is doing amazing things for my taste buds this is flipping delicious I love this kind of Izakaya Vibe it's like cozy it's so cold outside and we're just like sitting all like snuggled up and there's like a train going by [Laughter] how cool is your job Tommy that you get to like meet all these people sorry I didn't listen to it yeah so I was just concentrate on drinking yeah to introduce our culture especially drinking culture it's pretty uh special we are pretty happy because after covet you know we could bring our culture back and I want to enjoy our culture from now on again up and Beyond 2023 you gotta tell me like a secret we gotta find out Tommy's Secrets yeah my secret I mean like your knowledge okay it's your knowledge so we are in memory lane in Japanese yeah we have seen so many different bars on the way yeah can you guess how many bars is there here 55 I was gonna go 30. I'm gonna go 43. yeah you two are very specific I can say around 60. that's the point so it has studied from black market after the war and um yeah so you can feel the Retro atmosphere this is only like one of the only places you can enjoy this feeling it's a very narrow like it's kind of intimidating if you don't know what you're doing but that's why I like coming on a guide like a tour guide because you sometimes they're so small you're like oh can I go in yeah a foreign is okay is there going to be English I think the first time I came here when I was a student my Japanese friend like dragged me here so it was like okay I can like it's easier just to follow him into places but I remember thinking like if I was by myself there was I would be I'd be like tomorrow's too tiny you can't go in and I will teach you how to drink like a Japanese guy what about a Japanese woman oh yeah of course I can show you like a Japanese woman style yeah speaking of uh Memory Lane so you can see this old painting on your backside man it was strong in fifth hour 1960 but this Outlook Still Remains yeah so because um after the war you know like we didn't have any availability for the foods so we also have a culture to eat an inner part of the meat yeah it's very popular food here all right but yeah I guess we're gonna eat the rest of our food and then move on to the next spot so let's tuck in can drink also we were only here for an hour it's not like oh you can drink all day one hour you gotta go get that bang for your buck yeah I think I can get quite a few in an hour so I'm gonna it's gonna use a competition I must drink all I can in this hour well the gods will be angry at me yeah 59 minutes left okay I wish how is that oh this is a grape with you grape liqueur I want to try that I really love I love all kind of fruit fruity liqueurs what are you drinking La France La France liqueur so a kind of Western pear ah I'm drinking uh what's called it's called a number beeru a premium I gotta knock them over here and I'm really excited for like gyoza because they have some unique items so drink don't drink so that's not a beverage I love like vinegar that's like my secret you just did it publicly you didn't very openly break it to you it's not included all you can drink man it's my secret cap I'm always drinking sauce it's so good I love salt and vinegar chips and this is the closest thing in Japan that you can get to it we got some some cashew Porky so like Blue Torch thrilled I got Citrus cabbage I got a potato she had a potato with butter we've already the alcohol has hit no it's just it's just the sauce it's just awesome it's just the level we've got this crazy Avatar torch oh Char shoe it's amazing hammock yours I've got a potato a potato I love food so much it tastes so good these look insane so these are chicken wings stuffed with Joseph Meat yeah oh my god wow just salt there by the way if you want to dip it that is so good who came up with that idea like hey a chicken wing there's space in there that's not good for your liver it can't be have you ever seen anyone drink the sauce like that no your dog it's a good memory for me yeah what's the weirdest thing that's happened on a tour so far hmm you're the first one now in my entire career I want to come across someone like you yeah so please join us and uh drink yeah Joseph sauce drank it can you can you do it smells like okay it's just [Music] drink that okay wow it's a good idea you're lying don't lie to her on video like me so I have a question you told me that Shinjuku drinking tour is the most popular tour one of the most welcome tours why do you think it's most popular oh what is it about Shinjuku that makes it so yeah like ah because Shinjuku is pretty interesting town because you can see some different uh bar districts like uh so we have been to Memory Lane omole and now we are in kabukicho different district and there's another District a golden guy District yeah so in one city there are so many different bar districts that's crazy grab beer and yeah finger foods and a walk and drink and eat that's a culture in Shinjuku yeah well I'm excited to go and see golden guy yeah and maybe drink a little more I think I'm done for food I'm done for food it's so good but yeah let's drink a little bit more yay [Music] this is nice [Music] so fancy mine's so easy to drink it's a little spicy a sweet fragrant stuff here mine's aged it's very strong very caramelized flavors to it this is I think he described Jose as having chocolate like undertones yeah and that's what it is yeah it's the chocolate camera look at you little Somalia look look tell us more about the Osaka okay sure I saw this bar uh the selection of sake usually are coming from the 30 different prefectures in Japan and uh yeah you know as a guide I can introduce the flavor side cap but here there's a psychic specialist all the time the master master Jordan I'm intrigued because you have a hot and a chilled sake so I ordered what's called uh so otsukan is like a hot sake so in order to compare the different flavors I have one that's normal that's a chilled socket and the one that's been heated up oh it's gone chilled one very good caramel chocolatey flavors very strong I'm gonna try the Arctic on the warmed up one see how it's different it's night and day oh my God it's night and day the cool one you get that nice strong sake flavor it's got a little caramel in there the strong one it's like hello chocolate hello wake up here's a little chocolate for you do you want some coffee you can't have any little sake enjoy it's very good at scan is the way forward especially on those cold winter nights so he's drinking uh aged sake so usually it tastes pretty dry so you know if you think it's dry yeah you can warm it up so the flavor gets mellower oh um like if it's your first time trying sake why would you recommend coming to a bar here like over going somewhere else and is it kind of just ordering it so you know like what is good about here is we are on the top floor 10th floor Japan especially Tokyo is pretty small yeah the restaurants are not only in the first floor but also to the second third and higher floors but the tourists are intimidated to go up higher floors yeah yeah I feel like this is pretty hidden like I would never there's no way I would have gone in this building going to the 10th floor I think it's a little easier strangely enough it's easier to come into this building the atmosphere is more welcome as we came in the bombers oh come in hang out come show all the customers were yeah come in come in I feel like it's it's weirdly more welcoming to come here rather than trying sucking like a in a bar I think sucker in a bar is just like it's a tailored experience there's a mask that you can tell him hey I would like something more like X and he'll he'll serve it up yeah I'm pretty sure I heard him speak English a few seconds ago yeah yeah International succubus baby let's go I'm where is it coming from in Japan the sake and then also like if you're a beginner for sake like the one I have I have had a lot of sake but I was like what's a beginner one like and it's definitely way easy to drink than probably your age one it's yeah yeah yeah yeah because there's so many different kinds of sake it's hard to know which one to do so it was nice to have the explanation and it's already 10 p.m so maybe sadly the end is near yeah at the end is Mia we're going to finish up our sake and uh and that'll be the end of our tour but this has been
