over baseball fans had gathered more memories of that first year than anyone could have dared dream opening day alone generated a flood of memories hoping day Camden Yards full house beautiful weather outstanding ballgame pitch fire opening day pitcher Rick Sutcliffe five hit - nothing shutout against the Cleveland Indians after the ballgame Rick presented me with a game memory that I'll carry throughout the rest of my life the national media converged upon the part this is a brand new ballpark with all the modern amenities but it is built like an old-time ballpark a traditional Park this park is pure baseball no football will be played here and think about the stadiums built in recent years concrete Donuts mostly the Baltimore designers wanted something different so we wanted a ballpark that was reminiscent of ballparks we knew when we were growing up Eli grew up in Boston and thought of Fenway I thought a force field in Pittsburgh it was a there were there was a feel about the ballparks they fit into their neighborhood they they had irregularity and asymmetry and there was something special about them how tough was it to do Janet well it was very easy actually Joe we sat down and did the research base of the things belie and Larry gave to us we tried to quantify what the old ballparks had a symmetry seeks in close proximity to the playing field the steel trusses brick facade hok the architectural firm that did the work that a wonderful job of executing our direction this park is very fan friendly and they asked fans features that they would like to have incorporated in the new park and one of the problems that fans raised is that they can't see was warming up in the bullpen so in this case the bullpens that are out in left-center field are raised and you'll notice that the walls are rather low between the fans that were sitting out there and the bullpens so you can see who's warming up here [Applause] play ball it's opening day and those are the ushers at the Baltimore Orioles brand new ballpark at Camden Yards the day was filled with traditional ceremonies Governor William Donald Schaefer whose commitment perseverance and dedication helped make this Park possible cut the ribbon now ladies and gentlemen your Baltimore Orioles after the two teams were introduced the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the choir from Baltimore's Morgan State University performed an inspiring rendition of the anthem written just a few blocks from this site [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] President George Bush and his grandson George P Bush fired the first ball before joining Orioles principal owner Eli Jacobs in his private box and when home plate umpire Larry Barnett said nine almost took the field and started anew of baseball history [Applause] it doesn't get a whole lot better than his and some cliff is all set to go to work Kenny loften for the Indian steps in and he takes a high inside fastball one and all and the 1992 season is now officially underway [Music] my ball after shallow right field or Solanki is drifting in and the Orioles were there in the history of this magnificent ballpark and for that let's go right back to Jill Brady Anderson Brady leadoff to the second baseman by a girl ranging to his right and he Anderson [Music] is all sorrento does that line drive left centerfield ever on the ride the ball gets by him it's off his mitt brady backing up on the play he juggles it airs sorrento heading into second base and he slides in safely [Music] sandy Alomar Jr train horn drive to center Demerol got a late Frank in the ball still going back still going first sensational saving hatch [Applause] [Music] - the second a Glenn Davis where lead it off the middle [Applause] [Music] [Applause] now with runners on 2nd and 3rd there's there's a picture squeeze that punted it's a beauty [Applause] [Applause] one ball and two strikes [Applause] they built the perfect the celebrities that States the weather was perfect and then Rick circlet and the Oreos do that part but would technically suck lift Rick Sutcliffe stay here [Applause] [Music] the Orioles in their Park were the talk of the town and a national smash clear to sign yet that spring has arrived take a look at the beautiful new built to reflect tradition Stadium in Baltimore Oriole Park at Camden Yards and that is real grass along with all the modern conveniences the new baseball sees a new park President George Bush pounced and the first pitch helping the Baltimore Orioles open their brand-new old-fashioned opening day was actually the centerpiece of a week-long celebration opening week really began March 25th when media representatives got a taste of the new park on April 2nd thousands of anxious fans braved blustery snowy weather to take a walk in the park and attend a rally then the next day the Orioles and New York Mets performed a dry run on Saturday night April 4th a fundraising gala brought actor James Earl Jones to town with the help of all we go superstar and assistant general manager Frank Robinson helped climax an explosive show [Applause] [Music] the Oriole advocates presented a charity 8k run on Sunday followed by a welcome home parade that led people to the farm former White House press secretary Jim Brady praised the accessibility for the disabled at the new park the Orioles then tuned up for their opener after opening day the hoopla continues the business community honored the Orioles at a luncheon then the Cleveland Indians avenged their opening day loss with a four-nothing victory opening week then culminated on April 9th with a dazzling game Mike Devereaux hit the first of his club leading 24 home runs armstrong delivers there's a blackboard welcome live via this bonus wave and a star B star baby mic devil has begun [Music] and young Ben McDonald's stood at the mound of a ninth inning on the verge of another Oriole shut up McDonald chose the rubber to Dynalite [Music] [Applause] then for the finale the park lit up with celebration of this new sensation after returning from the first road trip Rick Sutcliffe opened a four-game series against Detroit with an identical performance to his opening day start Sutcliffe even contributed to the club's offense his former team into the Cubs less Lanchester was pitching and relief with the bases loaded and Randy Milligan was ready to hit I leaned over and I mentioned to Johnny as Lancaster came in I said Johnny he throws a lot of cut fast balls and breaking balls and Johnny let me see don't tell me tell him I saw a fastball on the inside part of the plate no bases was loaded good pitch to hit took a good swing at it I was just hoping to stay fair and when he hit the foul pole [Applause] that series generated more memorable moments 43000 on hand on their feet Polson peers in for the sign takes a long look and says yes he's ready it comes the pitch to crime in Spring Break [Applause] and the Oreos wind up in the wind fellow former oil Mickey Tettleton trying to ruin a four-game sweep with a drive that nearly hit the B&O warehouse in right field it missed by a mere 26 feet it was the closest the ball would come to reaching the 94 year old landmark all season the Oreos demolished Detroit's four-run lead as they won 12 to 4 the home cooking seem to be agreeing with these hungry young players and the following expression why not look who was doing the cooking well what I have always wanted to do and I'm sure there's millions of guys out there that barbecue every Saturday and Sunday afternoon and they've always wondered if their stuff was any good I mean is rub disappeared upstairs we have a barbecue grill and back to the right-field fence out there and we do these pork tenderloins pork tenderloin sandwiches with the pit beef huge pit beef sandwiches these are not just regular sandwiches now these are meals people can come out here and have a meal my world-famous mustard barbecue sauce by red sauce with the onions and all the condiments it's a wonderful express how happy were these fans well fed Orioles fans sat back and enjoyed the action as the birds demonstrated a clear home-field advantage [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you're unbelievable [Music] yes unbelievable the Orioles first extended homestand began May the 1st and Mike Devereaux went wise we got a high fly ball in the left-center field back goes Mitchell all the way back to the wall it's a grass to make Devon [Applause] mental [Applause] Grand Slam ties his career and 6:00 tonight Saturday May 2nd was a special game in the season scrapbook all ready to go the big right headers first offering to David swinging a high fly ball fairly deep center field back to centerfielder griffey still back warning track wall leaps [Applause] David segui [Applause] Anderson in the box here's the payoff on the way fly ball well hit right field this ball is way back way back and you can brave it bye-bye Brady Anderson has done a three run homer for Dan nothing Oreo the wind put the Orioles in first place which was ironic it was the four year anniversary of fantastic fans night an Orioles owner Edward Bennett Williams attending what would be his last Orioles game committed to a 15-year lease and launched the effort to design and construct an ideal ballpark earlier that day the leaders of the Orioles started a series of dramatic player personnel moves and launched the effort to design and construct a contending Club now four years later to the day the beautiful park that was only a dream in 1988 was sold out on a picture-perfect evening in 1992 and the club that four years before was one and 23 after losing its first 21 games was now leading the American League Eastern Division club president Larry Latino had to be very very proud I really am proud we all are of the the journey from May and 88 at Memorial Stadium to May of 92 in the foreo Park at Camden Yards it's a long wonderful journey I wouldn't trade it for anything the hysteria of that homestand climax May 7th from the Orioles face for defending world champion minnesota twins the twins cruised into the ninth-inning with a 4-1 lead their bullpen ace Rick Aguilera stood on the mound the crowd became interested with Glen Davis single and they perked up when Randy Milligan drove him to third and his big Sam horn came out on deck they rose in unison and communicated their confidence to the hitter David segui basic coming at his for his grand Davis Milligan held up to make sure it wasn't caught and he stops it third single force again it is for two and Sam Hornish [Applause] are they out here this they don't need to have the home run from horn just a single and they'd be in great shape both count damn horn ocular already here comes swingline to the center field at trivia base let me get a story's Milligan picked on around second heading the third sit comes at all she's heading for second is Horan and he's safe the Orioles are down [Applause] cheedo martinez then drove in pinch-runner mark McLemore to tie the game at for Joe or select running for horn was the possible winning run over at third the crowd was loud and they believed and they will forever believe that their enthusiasm and intimidation led to the next day just put fingers world which is like at this ballpark now it seems like the Orioles just can't lose well I can say well you've got supporting you guys out there that's what keeps us in the game and we're gonna try to do our best every day the Chicago White Sox provided the drama to close the 10 game homestand avenging a loss tonight before Orioles staffer Greg Olsen faced his former college teammate Frank Thomas two outs and the game on the line two balls two strikes the fans on their feet breakable strike three Olsen snapped off right pelvis got him tonight Olsen gets Thomas in their new home the Orioles had gone 10 and 1 and 13 and 3 the birds were in love with their new nest and what was not to live take a look behind the scenes is Brady Anderson a Mike Devereaux show us the Orioles clubhouse right here goodness it's the one on the Left I come here and I mention his baseball that he has a gift a sign after some advanced placer that's the one on the left let's see if it really is the one in the left I open it 80 81 times there all right here we go the two best trainers in the wave Jimmy Reed Jamie Reed and Richie ban sells right here their office oh not a lot of things are working right now but a very nice jacuzzi this is our sign this is a dry sauna Allan Mills however doesn't understand the concept do you guys want to come on in and check it out awesome Oh buckets of water on the side because he thinks it should be a steam room I tried which is totally different to dry son of it oh geez dad my bets in here that's in here oh sweet is ours this is my last game er wow these are good bats perfect all kinds of wood and I got some wood thing Sam this is seems someone would just came in to sweet some of these are saying yeah you really don't want to spend a lot of time in here not too many facilities have this we see some of our family shelves lotta guys sang us a man right here dude you guys don't mind if we have one do you okay let's see what happens last game here you're going deep barley it is you're going deep I think they did time to put this tape in oh did you you're the greatest this would be a shiny new jails office usually marked by their you know I have never never been in this office yeah until now well maybe he doesn't want us in his office maybe that's why I haven't been in there you better not be in here everyone else about it this is where we shower and a great shower it is they spent how much do they spend on this stadium 100 500 5 billions we first got the saying they spend 105 million and they had tiny little shower heads were about this big just shut out beetles drizzled out and you understand about this close to take a shower so cow brought us some showerhead and then eventually everyone got the cowboy King jr. showerhead this is Rex a closed locker I think that he would let me go in his locker too this is except whose hat he has a pretty big head this is one of the most popular players to ever play for the oil rig Dempsey and this would be his this is what he wears underneath his hat because he doesn't like to wear a big old bulky catcher's helmet so he spends a lot of time repairing this you can see I think she's had for about 15 years now we don't have permission to go to anyone else's Locker it's a very personal thing this is a lat pulldown machine where others gonna do wait for us right attachments I'm home Wow three reps they usually do 3 3 of 10 3 and then quit 2 sets of 3 let's both get on the scale real quick see we got much we wait together we wait 395 point 1 5 pounds that is the end of the tour security system ah well thanks for joining us well like we usually do walk out here say see you later Paul see it now and we're out of here can you go home later as the season unfolded these two players showed they weren't just off the good starts with blossoming into stars [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] rady also hit with enough power to become the first player in Major League history ever to hit 20 homers drive in 75 and steal 50 bases actually Brady raised those standards by driving in 80 runs and stealing 53 bases Brady's performance earned him a spot on the American League all-star team where he was joined by teammates Mike Mussina and Cal Ripken Mike Devereaux put together a stunning season from wire-to-wire and would be voted the most valuable Oriole of 1992 diesel was particularly a terror with the bases loaded satting 5:20 [Applause] Swingline [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] dev'reaux became onto the third Oriole to reach double figures in doubles triples homers and steals and the only player to have done it twice Guzman delivers cow running the ball is swung on a missed throw down to second base canvas a cold [Applause] Brady and DeVos defense were superb as well broadcaster George Michael cornered them in the outfield one day gentlemen meet baseball's homerun robbers do you feel guilty when you rob a guy have a homerun take his livelihood off the table take his livelihood no he's taking my livelihood when he goes over the wall but wait a minute do you say to yourself do you turn to Brady Anderson to say man was that hot or what [Music] yeah there it is right there I mean you know I get to feel myself and walking radio getting over the wall I mean you see it coming he say although he's got to get up on this Mike and I both and something we take a lot of pride in we always practice going over the wall and you know it's probably the most fun thing to do other than hitting a home run or something like that it's making a great play and saving a run helping out the pitcher and helping out the team how like Brady said it's a lot of fun and when you finally get the chance which is really not that often to go up over the wall you know it's almost a privilege and so like yeah I did it [Music] one of Grady's greatest catches protected a victory over the Angels here comes the pitch as the five wall this ball is well hit my field Brady backing up at the worn back at the wall he jumped and it is [Applause] it was a night of great catches only one ending before Chad Curtis made one of the best plays of the year by an opponent my Devereaux's greatest catch came June the 5th a game the Orioles never would have played without their prescription athletic church the modern intricate sand and pipes drainage system pulls off 75 thousand gallons of water an hour and in a field that looked perfect despite a day-long rain Rick Sutcliffe and Toronto's Jimmy key played dueling zeroes David segui provided the first sterling play robbing candy maldonado Sutcliffe delivers fastball as a high fly ball to the right set a deep back goes segi all the way back at the fence joon-suk makes the catch and one inning later Devo made what many called the greatest defensive gem of the entire 1992 Major League Baseball season [Music] [Music] [Music] then cal ripken came up with the game still scoreless in the 8th here comes my drive over the database jetsetter feel and the Oreos ahead the birds had a great victory over their season-long nemesis the Toronto Blue Jays with all the Devereaux's great catches it takes a picture to remember the one he didn't make what's the score five to four Baltimore winner two outs Frank Towson to play their road goes back running fine I guess good job go out of here to rot no chance of winning I'm out of a ballgame wait wait wait how many roses we score that game like nine and who could forget the game a few weeks later when Anderson and Devereaux led off the game with back-to-back homers Scott Erickson delivers there's a long drive deep in the right-center field this one is way back there [Applause] one-nothing Oreos from Scott Erickson Deborah swings he hits a high drive deep this one has a chance and you can tell this one back-to-back homers destroyed tonight Anderson then Devereaux to nothing these outfielders weren't the only ones who enjoyed success in 1992 Joe or CELAC cheeto Martinez and David segui provided solid depth in the outfield and the outfield was by no means the only productive area behind the plate the Orioles catchers delivered outstanding results leading away was Chris Hoy [Applause] the sluggin catcher was having an all-star season to the Yankees Tim Leary who displayed some suspicious mound habits broke the sluggers wrist Jeff Tackett was tossed into the first string roll and rose to the occasion 3 2 pitch [Applause] veteran mark parent later would lend a helping hand a stood a hero of days gone by he's returned to active duty resulted in an unforgettable home debut [Applause] [Music] for the first time 80 section a game again [Music] [Applause] Dempsey had returned with his trademark aggressiveness [Applause] in the infield Leo Gomez continued to develop [Music] Tim Hewlett continued to perform as an excellent understudy of course the shortstop again needed no understand Cal Ripken played every game for the tenth year in a row reaching 1735 by season's end Cal also captured his second straight Rawlings Gold Glove Award but the biggest news about cow came in August the club signed its future hall-of-famer to a five-year contract general manager role in Heymann and club president Larry Lucchino joined Cal as Rex Barney delivered the announcement just before the game [Applause] I'm from Iran manorial I've been an Oreo fan all my life and I couldn't picture myself in another brother bill Ripken and Mark McLemore combined to provide clutch offense and clutch defense at second base and at first base Randy Milligan handled a load with help from versatile David segui and the fans just love the Orioles sizzling defense [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] filming [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] injuries limited Glenn Davis to the designated hitters role which he shared at times with Sam horn and both gentlemen were big hits off the field when it came to community service in 1992 Glenn and his wife Teresa opened the Carpenters Way ranch in Columbus Georgia for homeless children they also presented a series of inspirational events for students with their power jam 92 program meanwhile Sam horn was visible all over the region making a career-high number of appearances other Orioles were prominent contributors to the community as well Randy Milligan and his wife Renae presented a baseball festival raised over 25 thousand dollars to help the youth of Baltimore up and down the roster players gave back to their community as did their why a charity auction raised eighty eight thousand dollars for the Johns Hopkins Children's Center just to name one event just as aggressive were the club's Community Services the Orioles helped start the Baltimore baseball league a highly acclaimed a program for youngsters in the city and continued its sponsorship of the rookie league program another baseball program for children the club presented six free baseball clinics and continued its academic encouragement in programs such as we'd like a pro and books to the ballpark night the Orioles also adopted several area schools presenting scholarships and providing speakers in all the Orioles operated over 50 community programs presented over 1,000 appearances by the players in the mascot and helped generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities in 1992 the Orioles meant more than baseball just as Oriole Park met more than baseball the ballpark experience included new elements new rituals new routines summer lifestyles had changed downtown workers strolled over to the park after work families wrote in on the new light rail others came on the metro the marked rains drove fans right to the front door and buses spanned the whole region taking fans to and fro let's take a look at the parks features with veteran Mike Flanagan and young Mike Mussina summer let's take a look all right there's a certain tradition for the the players that I think it's a necessary Tector ah no SkyDome for me it's it's beautiful and a modern wonder maybe but it doesn't have the tradition the older elite looking ball park have for me like to be able to feel that you can come back here 20 years from now and remember those things I think that that is my loss Memorial Stadium but gonna be a whole lot of good memories have come out on this ballpark hopefully hopefully you only be here another 20 or 25 years that'll get used to it you come here this time of the year to me almost hear the voices of summer still this place packed every night yeah the expectations of a good game that well just play a game lower here I think what may be special about this area seat in the ballpark is this railing rate of Bob standing room only I know what the kids sneaking into Fenway Park and doing some things to have gotten this close to watch your heroes of your idols bro would have been obviously I would have paid much much more for the pickety to be this close to Washington they suck lift and Brian going at it or yourself and just get a chance to see them up close and personal and almost grade yourself as a kid and maybe dream of someday being down there we've hardly any parking League I think they were you know most most places you have to pay top dollar for the street the district's supposed to to the bullpen somebody thought long and hard about how it was going to turn out and really did turn out terrific and I'd like to have a handicap ramp for the older pitchers it reminds me a little of Fenway which is probably twice as steep and half as wide and thinks broke it here is if we yelled in here row your bum I think this wouldn't be a bad place to sit Sunday afternoon no that's work I can Beckett Dorothy these are battle very next year not next to the guy next to me broke it to me see you missed the call be within there I think that jumps out at you the tie lines the old bromo-seltzer building and and mixing with the fresh new skyline of the modern [Music] it's like this place was meant to have a ballpark put right in the center and it's fit in so nicely I think compared to the old ball park that you were maybe this fire up to could be the closest boxty I believe I know my mother greatly appreciated the slope of the stands the width of the seat and compared to the old ballpark which I love dearly and I thought that at first that I would not like this ballpark it almost made up my mind that I wasn't going to but the way that they detailed the seats and the old-time baseball player on it [Music] I soon fell in love with it though I think my best days were spent at the old ballpark this one is a very special place and will be for a long long time the park was old and new small and spacious casual and elegant Orioles fans expected a beautiful park but what they may not have expected was a season long pennant race the Orioles and Blue Jays fought for the top spot the whole summer most of that time no more than one game separated the two clubs day in and day out the club's revamped the pitching staff was leading the way new pitching coach Dick Bosman supervised two starting core that included the veteran Sukkoth and young talents who were developing right before our very eyes 24 year old Ben McDonald showed season-long durability while winning 13 games and pitching 227 innings the lanky right-hander allowed only 213 heads and struck out more than twice as many as he walked 23 year-old Mike Mussina was a revelation blossoming into a sigh Young Award candidate with an immaculate 18 and 5 season the last time at Orioles pitcher this young 118 games was 1964 and Wally bunker 119 the Stanford grad posted a 2 point 5 for earned run average which was third best in the league and a 783 winning percentage which was the best in the majors and the consistent right-hander pitched into the seventh inning or later in 26 of his 32 starts to buck up for the dog days of August the Orioles promote a 22 year old southpaw Arthur Rhodes the young guns filled Orioles fans with hopes of pennant races for years to come that confidence rose and the club signed its first round pick the fleet outfielder from Stanford Jeffrey Hammonds more signs of a bright future emerged in the bullpen all the way back in spring training an unheralded deal later looked like a stroke of genius well when the near kinky acquired carly Hayes from the filly they had to designate someone first and without name what doesn't need for assignment and we reacted real quickly we've always liked Allan Mills arm we've got a + arm good velocity Plus slider we've had people who have been familiar with them Allen Mills was just one of the effective relievers out of the pen another was the normally mild-mannered Submariner Todd froward had confidence that Dick Bosman would be able to work with someone like Todd froward and make the adjustments necessary to have the success that he's having I don't think anyone felt it the success that he is having and probably a little bit more than what we had anticipated we're very fortunate happy to have him with us now the emergence of mills and froward saved a staff which lost veterans Mark Williamson and Jim Poole to injuries for most of the year as usual the anchor was Olson the 25 year old youngster for this year became the Orioles all-time saves leader but the Orioles bullpen also had plenty of experience as well with three Orioles who have seen it all storm Davis returned to the club just as veteran Mike Flanagan had the year before together with Coach Elrod Hendricks they have a combined 43 years experience with the Orioles with exciting young arms and stabilizing veterans the air was filled with pennant fever in this inaugural season in one game in late August the Orioles trailed in the eighth inning and then Grady and Devo did their thing again one to nothing Mariners two down eighth-inning you get away from second the 3-2 pitch swung on a drive down the right-field line [Music] in the Jen Brady delivered a triple of his own [Music] endeavor oh who would drive in 107 for the year not in the game winner patro slang [Applause] a few days later class II veteran Rick Sutcliffe who stopped for losing streaks in the month of August alone with a for a toll record and a 1.60 er a pitched an unforgettable game Sutcliffe had lost his mother just two days before but returned from Kansas City in time to make his start then proceeded to paralyze the Angels with awesome focus and determination shutting them down on just one run maasai cliff came back he kind of was a big inspiration to us all and for him to come back and pitch on those circumstances I really kind of showed the younger guys what baseball is all about and it kind of show what we've done this season I mean we're in the middle of a pennant race and you know he said that I have to talk to him about it that's the reason why he came back you know the team means a lot of time and stuff to the guy that it's been through it all and he's done it all I think it's the only thing missing from his career is a World Series and that's why I came back and I'm ever faced that situation tough as it was to do I hope we all learned something from the game also featured the rarest of baseball plays there goes under at first there's a line drive to third step by birth we'll run it and it's going to be a triple play [Applause] that turned a the triple play was one of three involving the audience they were on the short end in the other two [Applause] follow this one closely that's one two and three that one even confused the Indians not to mention the Orioles broadcaster who only learned three days later that it was a triple play Oreos home games in August to finished with a flourish the birds trailed the Angels 401 but they fought back Randy Milligan leading off the Oriole 6a drives it to deep breath [Applause] that bed at 42 [Music] that made it four to three three balls and two strikes butcher takes a long look in the young right-hander he's sensitive elves Anderson getting his lead here's the pitch on the way fly ball well get back Center his second and its way back [Applause] [Music] Mike Devereaux batted necks [Music] this one football and you random Z Milligan Devorah peach with two home runs six to four [Applause] after that dramatic comeback the oils took their show on the road meanwhile the ownership of the Orioles took a dramatic step to award Orioles fans for their extraordinary support they committed to making Baltimore their home until at least the year 2022 so it seemed to us appropriate at this time that we on behalf of the Orioles can make a similar commitment of our club to this to this state to this facility for 30 years you made a gigantic commitment does we're happy to make this commitment to each other thank you with this action principal owner Eli Jacobs and club president Larry Lukey know ensured that the Orioles would belong to the fans of Baltimore for at least 30 years meanwhile out west the Orioles won seven in a row including three straight shutouts but and September wore on the engine sputter and Toronto was suddenly five games ahead the birds wilted but never relented late September they made their last stand against the Blue Jays on the brink of elimination rain delayed the start of the series by nearly three hours the Orioles fought tooth and nail [Music] victory was so close but the jays finally prevailed the birds did come back to win the next night but Toronto sealed the Orioles fate in the finale the Blue Jays marched inexorably on the road that would lead them to their first world's championship in the season's final home game the Orioles gritty play excited the fans one last time rampant passion had frenzied fans on their feet helping fuel and oils dramatic comeback on poster night [Music] [Applause] that final home game showed that though the season did not hang with the fans appreciated an exciting team that never gave up and the players returned the acknowledged and now they all [Applause] the crowd saluting the Orioles fans that celebration and communication symbolized the deep affection that the fans the players in the front office demonstrated throughout this historic year it was a spectacular year an extraordinary season and the sensational inauguration for our wonderful new home Oriole Park at Camden Yards [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music]
