It makes me sad that thereโ€™s an entire generation of kids out there (and honestly probably quite a few of them on this sub) who will only ever know DJ as the prick Marlins executive the media portrays him as now, and not as one of the most exciting and inspiring baseball players the game will ever see.

Dude is literally the reason I am a Yankees fan despite growing up in a Red Sox household in New England. I wish I could put into words how important I think he was as a role model for me growing up.

This definitely wasnโ€™t five years ago today, right? No way the final home game was in the middle of the month.

Without Derek Jeter, Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™m a Yankees/baseball fan right now.

My role model from day one. I remember being 8 years old and going to my first little league practice with my Derek Jeter glove and batting gloves and cleats and practicing that damn โ€œJeter Throwโ€ constantly until my coach was ripping his hair out.

One of the few times this game has brought tears to my eyes.

Best sporting event Iโ€™ve been to in person... The ending was obviously amazing but the entire night was absolutely electric. Iโ€™ll never forget the fans cheering when Drob blew the save meaning Jeter would get another AB, and boy what an AB that turned out being.

Iโ€™ve said this before and the reaction I get is always mixed, but I think this call by Michael Kay is so bad. Itโ€™s just cheesy and weird and too much.

Amazing moment for Derek and the fans, but one of Kayโ€™s worst calls ever, in my opinion.
