Back In The Saddle - Harry Redford Cattle Drive

Oh nice okay oh come here right right my body from the Colorado right when you're driving you look after the cattle first and then the horses and then the people the men come last it's all about the cattle yeah until Harry river cattle drive started in 2002 it wasn't really known because all the other big towns in central Queensland here have got their different things that draw tourism to it but Arabic is just a cattle and sheep town and it put our Mac on the map because this is actually where Harry Richard stole the cattle from and there put it on the map and injects a little bit of money into Arabic what's the funniest thing that's ever happened on one of these drives that's a good quick there lots of funny things up in here oh we get a lot of city folk that can't ride horses and we're quite proud of our horses that are quiet no one we haven't had a bad accident in 12 years now and yeah saying some of the people saw - yeah when you stopped a horse you pull its reins but this young fella said one day which battle do you push for the brake that probably be one of a one of the funniest things I've ever had said in 2002 the year of the outback there was an idea from a community group that we try and do a reenactment of the Redford cattle drive and they come to council and saw us and we said yeah looked okay and we decided to run with it and we we put the first cattle drive on and 2002 today may today it's just something that's progress since 2002 we sort of run it now around our local our Mac community it's become a great event for us and you know very successful to where we get to these these days that we booked out well in advance of the drive it's sort of a lot of other communities have the agriculture shows and everything this is our error mix show we have a show that probably runs for three weeks and we give people the opportunity to come and experience our way of life do a bit of driving show them you know some of our country hospitality here round Airmech and more of us get together we're all good mates and we enjoy doing it the scenery the magnificent Sun rises the Sun sets and just enjoying heaven having time with you know all other people that I probably normally would never meet you know and they've just been so lovely yes definitely well have a favorite among all in your first item is a big help but you know every very animal mind at all stage will be a good description to care for and water if you're diving if you don't look after your horse in the cattle you don't do much work I deliver your cattle in the best possible condition the main they've come right in the lead the cattle then also menu Cowboys well they're talking to they they seem to get a big buzz out of it you can say them I mean they can be bloody sore and a bum and saw in the legs and you say to them well what do you reckon have a good time oh like this is living that sight and you shake it and you think Jesus if you hurt not much it couldn't be live a night I don't think just like my wife did just booked it just go for it because it's a it's just a great experience I came because I read it in a newspaper five things to do in the year of the outback and it was number one and I thought it sounded interesting from the historical point of view and I'd never really been to Outback Queensland and I sort of thought well I might as well kill two birds with one stone so I sort of came out to our emaki I love the country I love the wide-open spaces and the sense of community which is why I keep coming back to aromat because that little communities very good I said it's one of those things where I can describe at the good times the funny times the you know sometimes sad times but all the times it's hard to describe you have to actually come and experience it words don't describe what you get out of this trip
