what is going on you guys welcome back to the channel if you guys have seen the last video the last video we kind of worked on this car a little bit but we also got this car cleaned up for the road now i got some parts on order for the flip rx we got the brake stuff coming in and we got the fuel pump coming in once we get those we'll try to button up this car a little bit more and get this thing to the dyno i got some injectors which was the last thing that i needed other than the fuel pump but uh this car should be ready to rock and roll soon so today today i'm actually not working on the cars today i am working on a project that one of my buddies uh left me with when he uh came here and grabbed all the stuff that was right here brought it to socal and get it to lax to ship to hawaii so i'm returning the favor and i am pretty much going to modify this jackson racing supercharger for b series to have um an internal cooler so the cooler is this guy right here uh dyno cool power steering cooler kit which he wants me to integrate into the plenum and pretty much what i'm doing today is uh making a plate to weld onto this which then is going to be welded onto the side of the supercharger and the cooler is going to be sitting inside the plenum itself so the goal here is to not mess this up because i only got one shot he said if i mess it up he'll just order another one it takes one day it's 30 bucks and um we'll try it again but i think i have a game plan of how i'm gonna tackle this so i'm gonna go ahead and just get some of my tools out and get right to work so i'm gonna go ahead and just take off this actuator anything that's attached to the plenum for what i'm grinding or cutting or anything like that i don't want those debris to get inside of any of these components especially if i can take it off remove it off that platinum so that way one last thing to worry about getting clogged up throttle cable bracket as well keep the bolts on here just so i don't lose them i am going to be working on the charger itself or at least a thought about it opening uh we'll get to this when we get to this i'll explain what we're going to do but my main focus is the more of the more complicated task so this was already pre-cut out and marcus kind of showed me how he wanted the cooler to be sitting in here and like i said i have a rough idea on how i'm going to do this but uh what i do want to do right now is clean up clean up all the cut marks all of the edges right here get it nice and flat so this is a great job for my new tool that i bought that i haven't even used yet brand new astro carbide uh double cut carbide rotary burr set so this is brand new i i do have one here and i've only had one to poured out my manifolds and dotted bodies and stuff like that over the last couple of years but finally bought a shorter version and a lot more uh different styles for different angles and different cuts so i'm gonna go ahead and just grab my drill since i don't have the big machine to you know the correct machine for this but a drill will work foreign so i threw the actuator back on to make sure the valve um it's not going to open far enough that once i weld the plate into place it's not going to interfere we're cleared so all i'm doing really is taking the cardboard and making an outline of the cap right here now marcus cut this out at home and he left this piece at home but obviously um with my material we can just block it off and uh you know make a new piece to fit here so i'm just pretty much outlining that shape out of cardboard and then i'll transfer it to the aluminum and cut that out the only part i feel like sticks out the fur this is right here but i don't want to modify it because this is where the bracket for the throttle cable sits so what i'm trying to do is i'm trying to cut the cardboard to fit underneath here my nails are dirty i don't like that i'm gonna go cut my nails real quick all right a little better so got this piece right here trimmed that out of cardboard obviously we're gonna have to like trim the edges and stuff to fit the contours but this is the rough rough cutout of the plate that we're gonna be putting right here so uh yeah now that i have this pretty much just got to transfer it over to um aluminum i think i'm gonna use this one this is a little thinner than the one in the back the back is like the back one is like um point zero one two five i don't know what size this is but it's a little thinner and um in between of all of this uh you know if you guys have been on the channel long enough you guys know that sometimes we work into the night now there's a lot of things that do in between working on cars or wrenching or fabian that um kind of takes up a little bit of my time throughout the day my nephew's been working on a wood project in the backyard so i've been running back and forth helping him with the wood project so um you know hopefully he's got that situated he's almost done i'll probably show it to you guys once he's finished with it but we're back here gotta transfer cardboard to aluminum let's get that cut up all right so this is where we're at i got this plate trimmed up to fit this opening and what i did was i curved this end a little bit you can see it right there uh because i undercut it i marked it with the permanent marker and then i cut it directly on the line instead of giving it the space so i'm a little short but nothing aluminum filler can't fill so if you look it is a nice fit so just a little gap there we can fill that in no big deal nice and close all the way across it's going to sit in a little more like that all the way across bottom along the edge nice and flat so now obviously i'm going to prep this before i weld it i'm going to prep this with a red scotch brite and now what i got to do is carefully get the cooler in here mark out where the two holes for the inlet and outlet is going to be at drill it out mock it up tack it up [Music] [Music] so this is what i'm talking about once this is flattened up against the plate i can just weld that little aluminum to the aluminum plate before welding it onto the uh the plenum here but if this is flat on the plate and this goes into the plenum and i line up the plate to the opening it's not even straight it's at a crazy angle the only way to get that cooler to be straight is to angle like this and i'm not sure how i'm supposed to go about doing that all right guys so after a ton of trimming with the new piece this this looks like it's a better fitting uh plate than this one right here so if you look butting this up against the opening here i'm trying to get this flatness lined up with this so that way it's not gonna cause like you know disturbance to the airflow into the runner so i mean roughly i'm gonna set it on here roughly if i cut that corner a little bit more to bring this in it'll close that gap but if you look nice and perfect got a nice little curve right here as well too and uh you got to trim this top corner a little bit because a little it's a little higher than this side so i just got to trim that down a little bit more and then we can make the top piece do it again out of cardboard trace it out of metal bend it to shape and that'll be the cap for the top so very promising um i'm just going to go ahead and just make that top piece and then we'll drill out the holes and you know re refit everything and if it looks good we'll we'll get to the welding portion of this [Music] for being as thin as it was not too shabby i did burn like two fins two rows of fins but i mean it is what it is because that that little plate on it was way too thin so i had a how to try to burn away from the edge and just melt the filler into the edge and uh i mean i got it welded all the way through so let this cool off real quick so with this on here the plate kind of mocked up somewhere right there the cooler is actually pretty firm and i don't think i'll need to make another bracket on the other side but it's not going to be like straight you see what i'm talking about this if i saw this in the engine bay it would bother me but because it's inside the plenum not too worried about it but uh i guess the only thing now is to weld the plate onto the plenum and the attachment piece to cover the top i mean obviously i'm going to tack it in place adjust it accordingly and then and then we'll fully weld it up [Music] all right guys so our task for today is complete or at least the major part of it is complete so we got the cooler installed in the plenum with the um outside boxed in so you can see all welded up i kind of dipped a few times but that's because of you know my weird angles with my arm but we got the cooler installed in the plate the plate installed on the plenum and the cooler is i mean it's pretty firm into place if you shake it hard enough it'll move over there but marcus told me he can braze so i told him i said for extra security braze this to the plate i mean i think i can weld it because this is just as thin as the inlets and outlets that i made for um the radiator but i don't want to risk um blowing a hole through this after you know completing this now if i wanted to try that i would have done it before welding it to the plenum but we already did it so it is what it is braising this right here filling up the hole and securing the barb to the plate it's going to give you the extra strength it needs to make sure that this is not going to be you know bouncing around all loose in here but i don't think the amount of air you know caused by the supercharger going into the intake manifold to the cylinder head it's gonna you know move this enough that it's gonna break off i don't think it's gonna happen but i mean if it does then back to square one and i'm gonna have to fix that but what i wanted to knock out today was installing that in here and button all of this up so i think um i'm gonna wrap up this video now the other thing that i was supposed to do for him is that this supercharger is meant to have the the biggest starter body is a 68 millimeter and uh he wants to put a 70 on here the problem with putting a 7d on here now marcus said that because he's already gone this far and going supercharged another he might as well use what he has and he has a 70mm thought about it this right here is calibrated to 70 mils right now and if you was to port match this to a 70 millimeter you can see this is going to slip over the edge into the port for the idler air control valve and what he wanted me to do was weld probably a quarter of an inch on top of this uh edge so that way when he ports it out it still has a lip to seal the port um through the gasket to the daughter body uh to ensure there's no leak to the idler or control valve so he wanted me to weld this but i don't think i'm gonna do that today i'm uncertain of it you know what i mean but uh we'll see what he says and then you know we'll we'll do that accordingly but as far as the modification he wanted me to do putting the cooler in the plenum we're done so i hope this is a short video there's a lot of like long uh clips of me just doing the labor work hopefully i cut it down enough but um that's that's all i had for today so i'm not sure what's next we're still waiting on parts for the flip rx guys and um you know i'm saying i'm starting to clean the garage a little bit more i want to get started on this car i got a manifold on the way well we'll talk about it when we get it but um that's pretty much going to wrap it up for this video guys if you enjoyed it a little bit be sure to give it a thumbs up i know you guys are probably thinking oh maybe i should do a supercharged setup or something but um i don't know supercharge is not my cup of tea my brother's car is supercharged i did a little series on that back in 2017. you guys can probably check out the playlist for that but if you guys enjoyed this video a little bit be sure to leave a thumbs up and if you guys want to stick around for more shenanigans be sure to hit the subscribe button but with that being said thank you guys for watching and i'll see you guys in the next video peace [Music] [Applause] hahahahahahaha
