Avoid This HUGE Singapore Business Class MISTAKE!

today i'm so excited because i'm about to fly to paris to meet my two sisters for our first ever sisters trip together my sisters and i have lived on different continents for most of our adult lives so it's hard to get us all in the same place but we're finally making it happen now i usually travel with my husband and our two daughters so this is a rare no kids trip for me the first leg of my trip will be an eight-hour flight from new york to frankfurt and i'll be doing it in style on singapore airlines business class i've heard such amazing things about the food and the live flat seats and the service i can't wait to take you along to experience it all with me now one thing many people don't realize is that when you fly singapore airlines business class not every seat is the same even on the same flight and if you book the wrong type of seat you'll be paying the same high fare but you'll get an inferior experience unfortunately when i booked my flight i made this mistake so if staff of the check-in counter all seemed really frazzled i think a lot of them were new because i could see that there was like a lot of training going on but luckily i didn't have to check any bags so it didn't take too long okay so i actually haven't flown singapore airlines since i was a little kid i grew up in hong kong and so i grew up flying a lot of asian airlines like singapore airlines cathay pacific always an economy though not business class also fun fact when i was little i actually had a kid-sized singapore airlines uniform i have no idea if they still sell these but if so clear [Music] okay let's go check out the lounge singapore airlines doesn't have a dedicated lounge at jfk instead business class passengers can use the virgin atlantic clubhouse it's not the best airport lounge i've ever been to but it gets the job done i quite like the playful artwork you can find all over the lounge even inside the bathrooms there's no self-serve buffet in this lounge instead you scan a qr code and place your order online once it's ready they bring it straight to your table i had the pian mint soup and the pesto bow tie pasta the food was good but i didn't have too much since i wanted to save some room for eating on this flight okay i think the gate agents were all brand new too because they seemed really frazzled but i got through and we're about to board this big beautiful plane my flight was on an a380 this is such a fun plane to fly because it's actually a double-decker aircraft singapore airlines has configured this plane so that the bottom deck is all economy and premium economy and the top deck is all business class which i'll be flying today and first class which i am dying to try these singapore airline suites offer a ridiculous amount of space privacy and luxury hopefully i'll be able to fly in these one day i was in seat number 92k towards the back of the plane it was a nighttime flight so the lighting wasn't the best but let me turn on the lights thanks to the magic of television okay i'm cheating a bit because this footage was from my flight back from frankfurt which was a daytime flight but i wanted to be able to show you the seat i am so in love with the colors and textures of the design in terms of look and feel it's a close second to the seats on qatar airways q suite which we were fortunate enough to fly earlier this year the seats don't have doors so they're not fully enclosed but the side wing provides plenty of privacy in front of me was a huge 18 inch screen plus small stowage areas below there was more room for stowing shoes and other small items to my right i had a reading light remote control outlets and seat controls they started playing what must be the world's most aesthetic safety video and then it was champagne time i quickly got comfortable and dug into the in-flight entertainment system one thing i loved is that you had the option of making a playlist of your favorites here i am using my remote to add the entire new season of law and order to my faves and it was time to start binge watching by the way is it just me or is the writing on this new season just god-awful no one is ever going to be able to touch goran and eames they are my all-time favorites before i knew it it was time to eat right now singapore airlines is not offering printed menus instead you can view the menus online for this meal i started with a smoked trout salad then had braised short rib for my main course for dessert i opted for some ben and jerry's chunky monkey ice cream the food was just okay to be honest unfortunately catering out of jfk is always a little subpar no matter what the airline on my way back to jfk from frankfurt the quality would be much much better okay let me take you on a tour of the bathroom if you like to fly in full glam you'll appreciate the wrap-around lighting on the mirror here it's perfect for putting on makeup the orchid is a nice touch there are toiletries from the british perfume house pennhalligans and the bathroom is fully stocked with toothbrushes razors and other essentials one thing that's a bit different about singapore airlines is that they don't give out a full amenity kit anything you can't find in the bathroom you can request from cabin crew okay it was time to get some sleep i found the seat on this plane really comfortable and spacious to sit in but when it came to sleeping i wish it was a little more plush they served one last meal this not very aesthetic plate of fried noodles before we landed in frankfurt transiting in frankfurt was an absolute mess definitely not the model of german efficiency that you might expect i had a 90 minute connection and i barely made it to the gate on time and it wasn't even that busy they were just incredibly inefficient at every single turn i flew lufthansa from frankfurt to paris and got to experience the luxury of short haul business class flying within europe meaning i got a regular economy seat just with the middle seat blocked off but i still managed to squeeze in another nap before landing in paris this video isn't over yet though because i'll be taking you along for my return flight back to new york but first enjoy this footage of me effortlessly blending in with the locals in paris you know guys i pride myself on being a traveler not a tourist my sisters and i rented an apartment in walmart it was surprisingly spacious and we loved the view we had no real agenda or itinerary for this trip the goal was really just to soak up the vibes and enjoy some quality time with each other we had great food lots of champagne and i took advantage of the exchange rate to do a little shopping on rue santonore fine leather goods treat yourself but soon it was time for me to head back home i flew lufthansa from paris to frankfurt and actually had an overnight layover which i spent at the cloud hotel inside the terminal i had time to grab a quick bite at the lufthansa business lounge before making my way to board this beauty i had a window seat in the back of the plane again i got settled in and soon we were in the air one thing that singapore airlines is famous for is their chicken saute and it definitely lived up to the hype the rest of the food on this leg of my journey was fantastic too there was such a big difference between the catering out of jfk versus the catering out of frankfurt i started with the beetroot stain smoked salmon then had a halibut filet for my main course i ordered a lemon sorbet for dessert but my flight attendant insisted that i also try the other dessert a puff pastry with mascarpone and raspberry sauce and it was just as good as he said for the second meal they served this pad thai with prawns and it was absolutely delicious let's talk about the service on singapore airlines one thing that i always love to see when i fly is a cabin crew who seems to genuinely enjoy what they do and genuinely enjoy each other's company and that's exactly the vibe that i got on this flight the flight attendants were really attentive but they never came across as stiff or overly formal the vibe was casual warm and friendly it actually for making this such a comfortable experience now at this point in the video you might be wondering what's the big mistake that i made when booking these flights after all so far it looks like i had an awesome experience which i did well it all comes down to picking the right seat my window seat was very private and it had great views but the footwell was off to the side which meant that i had to sleep at an angle in this cabin the seats with the most leg room are the bulkhead seats you get this wide ottoman to stretch your legs on and you can sleep in a straightforward position so if you'd like to enjoy this kind of leg room book in row 11 row 91 or row 96 okay so how much did i end up paying for this flight well after taxes and surcharges it came out to 3 62 and 57 cents so not the deal of this century but a pretty reasonable fare for this incredibly premium experience now another one of my favorite flights ever was on emirates business class and if you want to check out what
