okay so if you've been on the internet recently you've probably seen that the game Manor Lords has kind of been everywhere I've been seeing it and I was really interested after playing Kingdom Come Deliverance I feel quite hungry hell and I've been kind of really into the medieval setting that Manor Lords and kingom come Deliverance is in Manor Lords is a medieval city Builder um the only city Builder I really have any experience in is City skylines that's the only city Builder I've really R I might have played something like Sims City when I was younger but but the thing that paked my interest with Manor Lords was the flexibility of what you could build um I'll get to that in a little bit and also the fact that you could build an army and strategically fight other armies in the game with your army and when I saw clips of that I was like I got to try this look I'm a man I'm very simple I see an army fighting another Army I want to get the game as far as the flexibility what I mean by that is and you've probably seen this if you've watched any man Lord's videos is it's with these things called burgage flots I think I'm saying that right it's basically a house that your subjects live in but with this it's not very grid-like like a lot of city builders are based on grids this one is very flexible you can build these things almost however you want to I haven't seen a single City that's the same as another city because of this system like they're all different um but that's not why I'm here today I'm not going to go through the systems in the game You' probably seen stuff like that uh what I am going to do is tell you a few mistakes that I've made that you should avoid specifically five mistakes that I made that you should avoid in Manor Lords I will say this is mostly early game stuff because the first time the the first couple of times I played this game um I was raided by Bandits and my town completely burned down and I I kind of just gave up on that uh after that and rest start and and I restarted the game this fourth time the one that I'm on now is actually going really well so I learned something mistake number one and something I did like the first three times I tried when you start off the game you start off with a group of tents and you're they're homeless people they're you you're just you're like hey here's five homeless families give them houses immediately um but what you want to do is you want to build a lumber Camp to get wood first and build a saw pit and build a firewood pit thing and build other things involving wood so you can build a house and also get fuel you don't want to build these things too far apart so that's mistake number one that you want to avoid is building things too far apart so what you typically have to do is you're going to be put in a small group of tents like I said earlier you might be far away from the King's Road so the first thing you want to do is build a road to the King's Road and then build a house where there's not a lot of fertility in the soil so you want to avoid building on things that you can use for farming uh you you can pull up the building menu and you have this overlay to the right that tells you all that stuff you're going to get given an ax that carries stuff around to build things with it's like it's the most one of the most important things in the game um what I learned was that when I first started was I was building things so far apart that building stuff was taking so long the aux was having to travel a country mile to lay down supplies to build things um basically and I figured that out after like the second save that I was going really slowly and I needed to build a more compact Village basically my second tip is not building houses fast enough so when you get to over 50% approval rating or like the thumbs up symbol if it has a 50 next to it that means people are going to start moving into your Village um if you don't have enough residential space as in houses burgage plots no one wants to live in a place that has no homes because they can't live in it anyway so basically you're going to want to start building houses relatively quickly to get your population up and there's another thing that goes along with this if your population goes up guess what else goes up the number of your militia and you want your militia to be pretty large so you can fight other things okay and I haven't really mastered the militia thing yet or the Army thing the thing that I wanted to do the most I'm probably the worst at in this game is managing the militia getting supplies in that's still something that I haven't really fig figured out how to do if you know how to do like a uh optimal way of getting supplies for the militia let me know in the comments and that's important for your militia you need your militia to go take out Bandit camps and Bandit camps will give you Regional wealth so when you take out a bandit Camp you'll get kind of gold for your treasury or gold for the community kind of that's how it works it gives you two options you can use it to get mercenaries or you can use it on like setting up trade routes money is pretty important in this game and I have yet to master that so don't ask me anything about that just make sure that you start getting your houses built relatively quickly so whenever that approval rating is f 50 your population can raise because I was realizing that I was had such a little militia at one point that I got raided and I couldn't defend myself very well so make sure you have enough population to defend people and to attack Bandit camps the third one is something that I can say to avoid but I don't necessarily know how to fix it yet before you do set up trade stuff don't do what I did and kind of set it up blindly I noticed that I was just galling money money I wasn't making anything so make sure that you learn the trade system pretty well before you set up trade routes um the first thing I kind of got it to work a little bit better in this new save where I was kind of I was trying to figure out the exporting first before I imported anything and I was like exporting like firewood and I was actually making some decent money from that um in my save I was trying to import some stuff and I realized that setting up a trade route was pretty expensive and when you import stuff it costs money obviously and I was I went broke basically so figure out how to set up trade stuff before you mess with it is basically that that's a terrible tip I know but just make sure you know how to do that okay that's all I got to say this is the fourth tip a mistake I made in my first couple of saves is whenever the game tells you there's a bandit Camp close by that's been spotted go take that out immediately if you don't they will build their numbers up and then they'll come attack you burn down your whole village I know I've think I've had two or three villages being burnt down because of this so basically what you want to do is Right whenever it says that look at find out where that Bandit Camp is and go attack it that's what I did and that kind of solved my issue it also gives you money if you do that sometimes other AI will go and take out that Bandit Camp you want to take out the Bandit Camp so you can raise your influence thus taking that territory if you want to so that's that's why taking out Bandit camps is extremely important um because if you don't if you don't they'll either rage you or you the other people will gain more influence faster than you you and then they'll be way more powerful than you before you can fight back the other AI in the game will gain influence by if they take over that Bandit Camp first they'll gain influence and they'll start taking up territories around you which you don't want either don't just let the bandits do whatever they want to go take the Bandit camps out even with your small militia at first it's plenty enough to take out Bandit camps my fifth mistake that I made whenever I was starting out was not having a family in reserve that will build stuff for me so I had to constantly take families away from their jobs you you want to always have one family to build stuff for you sometimes I was thinking like wouldn't it be more important to be focused on getting some food and fuel always have a family free for construction that's pretty obvious one I don't know it's something that I was like always fiddling with when I first started I thought it was worth a tip maybe it wasn't I said mistakes I made that you should avoid okay I actually have a sixth tip for you and tip number six is to go and get this game because I think it's absolutely incredible it was made by one guy Slavic magic is a developer for this game just this is said by so many people all the time but it's better than a lot of AAA games that I've played no doubt about it I hope this video helps you I I'm definitely not like a tips and tricks YouTuber dude it's definitely not something that I thought I would do but for this I thought it would be funny to show you my mistakes and maybe you wouldn't do the same stupid stuff that I did if you enjoyed the video let me know in the comments if you didn't enjoy it let me know in the comments and don't forget to go outside today and enjoy it don't sit inside all the time it's not good for your soul I'll see you in another video hopefully and uh yeah goodbye
