Automated Mega Resource Train - Astroneer

all right so this is my mega resource train this is a single train line that goes to every auto extractable resource on Silva of which there are 10 although I have 24 Auto extractors total uh only 11 are currently working and I'll explain why that is in a minute um but this is how the stations work and stations are the same down below as well so it's not not complicated it's a single uh station set to stop everything and this these ones up top are set to unload uh but the ones down below are set to load and in order to make the train come in there's a single delay repeater uh and it just goes right back at the station so the train comes in activates the delay repeater for 15 cycles that gives it just enough time to load or offload and then it triggers the station again which sends the Train on its way so this is just a big loop the train always goes in the same direction it hits up every resource down below and then comes back up uh to this and this is connected directly to our Mega sorter which you can see the video for that in a different one but this uh connects just directly to the mega does all the smelting and everything as well now I mentioned that there were only 11 Auto extractors currently active and that's because a single chain of Auto Arms like it like you see here can only actually move 16 extractors worth of material but it gets even worse than that because in the mega sorter the Auto Arms don't move at full speed they have a slight DeLay So the sorter can only support 11 extractors which is what I have turned on so the 11 extractors is the maximum that can be supported continuously um in the sorter however as people know with extractors they don't always run they have a little green bar and when it runs out they stop but if you pick the extractor up and put it back down there's more resources that it could get and so they require a little bit of Maintenance to go return on every once in a while and so I have the option here to run 24 Auto extractors at once and what will happen if that is the case is this station will back up because it can't support moving that many down the line and this station over here is for the Overflow so if this station is backed up when the train comes in it'll try and put stuff here but there won't be enough room and then it'll go to this station where there will be room because this station can support all the all the extractors running at the same time and this is just a big buffer so this is 7 200 units of storage that can just fill up at full speed and then if extractors start not working if they run out of green bar and they stop extracting things uh then this station will stop becoming backed up and then there's a storage sensor here which will turn all of these canisters to output mode and they'll just empty right back into the Sorting line so if the extractors aren't running at full speed these will automatically empty back in and give you an extra buffer of units so you have time to go down and refresh your auto extractors without any downtime on your sorter now obviously it'd be better if the sorter could support more and I have some ideas on how to do that but it would require changing this line so that it can run multiple Auto Arms simultaneously because there's just no way One auto arm can ever do more than 16 uh full extractors running at a time so this is pretty much how it works and this is gonna just bring up a train oh it's coming up right now so it's bringing up a train full of resources from all the different nodes down below and they'll dump in there and I'm just going to turn this off for a second and they're just gonna sort out and go down the line and this is just you know an easy way to just fill my entire sorter with all of the base resources that are available on Silva so that's pretty much it I'm gonna run uh just down through the line with you guys real quick um but it takes about six minutes so I don't feel like you got to sit around this is just going to show you what the train line Looks like down below and what all the different resource stops look like but that's pretty much it thanks for watching foreign foreign
