hello bookworms today i'm going to be sharing my august tbr with you but before i get into my tbr i have a very exciting announcement and that is that my reading slump is over it's finally done i've been reading so much i feel like i'm finally back into a routine i've been waking up early to read i've been trying to read at night before i go to sleep i've been listening to an audiobook on my commute to work so i'm like full force back into my old reading routine and it's been just like amazing but with that being said i have had a severe lack of fantasy reads this year i've been reading mostly like contemporary nonfiction some literary fiction like all different kinds of things and i finally like in july got back into like fantasy mode which is so exciting because fantasy is my favorite genre fantasy books always end up being my favorite books so i'm going to be riding this fantasy train for like as long as i possibly can my august tbr is largely fantasy books in fact they're very large fantasy books for the most part but i'm like ready to go i'm confident i think i'm gonna do pretty well on this tbr i would be surprised if i read everything because i do have like quite a pile here but i feel good about this i feel like i haven't felt this good about a tbr probably all year if i'm being honest okay so first up i am planning on finishing reading the shadow rising by robert jordan this is the fourth book in the wheel of time series i have been very slowly reading this book in fact i looked it up on my reading spreadsheet and i think i started reading this one like back in april i like really did wasn't like actively reading it i think i read like a little bit in april and then i kind of didn't read it again until very recently but now i'm about halfway into it and i'm definitely planning on finishing it in august and once i do i also want to pick up the next book in the series which is the fires of heaven and my goal is to like constantly have one wheel of time book in my rotation so that i can get through as many of them as i possibly can before the show premieres in november i'm so excited that we finally have a release date i just want to like read as much wheel of time as i possibly can next on my list is semlin ascends by josiah bancroft i have a copy of this somewhere and i could not find it before i started filming this video so i'm going to need to look for that once i finish because obviously this is a priority so my friend holly from holly hearts books is actually hosting a books of babble read-along she's going to be reading one book per month leading up to the release of the finale book four in november and i've been really interested in this series for a while so i thought that this was a really good time to join in i'm in a fantasy mood so i'm very much looking forward to reading these holly has said that these books would be great for people who like video games which is me so yeah assuming that i enjoy sunlin ascends then i'll be joining in for the rest of the readathon but i'm definitely making this one a priority for august next on my list is my kings of the wild reread i never got around to doing this i think i wanted to do it back in like april but my mind just was not in the like mode to focus on fantasy like it just wasn't happening for me and i wanted to like reread it when i felt very excited about reading and very like into my routine the way that i'm feeling now because i really love this book i really love these characters i really love this story and i really love this world and i just want to like savor and enjoy it and i feel like i'll probably end up reading it kind of quickly since i'm already familiar with the story but oh man i just love this series and then i can finally get to book two then i want to read baptism of fire by andrew sipkowski this is book five in the witcher series and i feel like there i kind of like took an unintentional break from reading witcher and there are two reasons why maybe three reasons that i am really like wanting to get back into it now the first one being that they've been releasing trailers and teasers for season two of the witcher on netflix and i definitely want to read more of the series or potentially finish the series before that second season comes out and the second reason being that andrew is actually reading the first book so every day when he comes home and tells me about what he read it makes me want to dive back into the world of the witcher more and more and then the third reason is that i've been doing some like digital housekeeping and i updated my master series spreadsheet that i have so that kind of made me realize how many series i'm in the middle of and i really want to get to completing some of them so this will help me like move along and get closer to completing the witcher series next i really want to read assassin's apprentice by robin hobb i've been wanting to get into the realm of the elderlings like forever this is the first book in the first trilogy in the realm of the elderlings the first trilogy is called the farseer trilogy and this has probably been on my tbr since like i started booktube but now that i have these really beautiful illustrated editions and i just got like the final one sent to me i really want to start reading the series i really want to make it priority i have a feeling it's going to be something that i love we're following a character named fitz who has the ability to like have some kind of magic link with animals but once he gets adopted into a royal family he has to give that up because the royals don't like that ability which i think is called wit then also when he gets adopted he starts training to become an assassin and i think that while some of the later books in the series do follow other characters he is still like a constant that's kind of like in everything and like it really does focus on him so it really like builds the foundation for the rest of the world and i am really excited to read it then i want to read edge dancer by brandon sanderson as you guys might remember oathbringer is on my list of 12 books that i have to read in 2021 but before i read oathbringer i need to read edge dancer this is the novella that takes place between words of radiance and oathbringer and while it doesn't follow the characters that are in like the main stormlight archive series i have no doubt that this will play heavily into the world building and the lore that does connect to the main series very excited to read this one i know we're following a character named lyft and i don't really know too much else about it i'm just gonna go in and be in rochar i also wanna read malice by john gwen this is another series starter which i probably shouldn't be starting another series but i have been really interested in reading these i believe this is a grim dark fantasy and i've been hearing about how quickly this reads and how digestible the world and the story is and i definitely love some quick paced fantasies and if i like it then i'll pick up the rest of the books in the series but it's one that i just like have wanted to read for a while i finally got the first book like a month or two ago and i do not want this to be one of the books that just like sits on my tbr cart forever so i wanted to make it a priority i felt like when i was trying to read the synopsis my mind just like wasn't processing the synopsis so i don't really know too much about what this is going to be about but i do know that there are giants and worms and angels and demons and pirates so i'm in then i want to read exile by ari salvatore this is the second book in the drist trilogy the legend of just trilogy it's a forgotten realms novel and i want to finish up this first trilogy so that i can read the ice windale trilogy which is probably the most popular of all of the drist trilogies because there he's written quite a few dressed books i really liked the first one when i read it drist is a dark elf but he has a conscience so he kind of clashes with the rest of his people this just continues his story on i found the first one read really quickly so i think that this will be like a good palette cleanser between some of the denser fantasy that i have on my list for this month and then a couple of non-fantasy reads that i have i would really like to read the inheritance games by jennifer lynn barnes i've been meaning to read this one since it came out last year it kind of has like westing game vibes and it's also like a little bit of a cinderella story it's following a character named avery her entire life changes when this billionaire dies and he basically leaves his entire fortune to her but in order to claim it she has to move into the hawthorne house which is where the rest of this billionaire's family lives who just like passed all of them over in favor of her there's some kind of like mystery element to it and i believe the billionaire is kind of eccentric and likes puzzles and riddles and a lot of the rooms have like different clues and stuff in them so i wanted to read this one before book two comes out which is in september i feel like i'm gonna love it i usually love all of jennifer and barnes's books then i've got that weekend by cara thomas this is another one that i think i'm gonna love i have loved all of kara thomas's other books too this is a young adult thriller novel it was actually on my most anticipated list on the last one that i did so we're following a character who goes on this like secret trip on her prom weekend up to this mountain with her best friends and the three of them i think go like walking or something and the main character that we're following in this book wakes up and her friends are like gone and i think she's like covered in blood but she has no memory at all of what happened so obviously there's gonna be like lots of questions everyone wants to know well she really wants to know what happened to her two best friends she's the only one that came back from this walk safely so she's going to have to try to like dig deep in her memory to try to figure out exactly what happened and where her friends are and then lastly i kind of impulsively added summer of salt by katrina leno to my tbr this is one that i've heard many people talk about like years ago and i just had never gotten around to it but i've kind of been enjoying seasonal reading this year which is something that i haven't always like adhered by but this year in particular i've been liking it so i kind of want to read this one before the end of summer i know there's also like a bit of magic in it magic is passed down through generations of women and it takes place on an island and i've also been reading and enjoying witchy books lately so i feel like i have very high hopes for this one so those are like the million books that i'm planning on reading in august as you can tell i have a very ambitious tbr but again i'm feeling really good about things and really excited about reading really excited about this whole stack here very much hoping that when i do my august wrap up they'll like all be included and it will be great so let me know what you're planning on reading in august let me know if you read anything that i mentioned and i hope that you're doing well and i hope that if you were in a reading slump you've also been able to get out of it or find a new routine that works for you i know i just feel so good to be reading a lot again it really feels amazing but that's all that i have for this video so i will see you guys soon with a new one bye [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
