hey guys so today i'm going to be showing you how to make an ar model we're going to be doing this using completely free open source software aka unity if you're an architect or designer like me and you're trying to show off your designs in a different way then this is definitely for you also if you use revit or cad and you find that easy enough then you'll definitely be able to do this you guys can follow along with the tutorial or you can download the free apk in the description below step one get your models and your triggers ready in this tutorial i'm going to be using two examples the first is going to be a light fixture that i recently modeled and the other one is going to be a floor plan of an apartment what i mean by your models and your triggers your models will be a 3d object and your triggers will be your 2d objects that refer to them i've already exported my models as either fbx or colliders so they're good to go once you've gotten your models and your triggers ready you want to do step two which is download unity unity is free to download for anyone earning under a hundred thousand dollars a year i've already got unc downloaded and i'm going to be using unity 2018.4.4.f one this one once you've downloaded unity you're going to want to start a brand new 3d project make sure you've installed the packages for android since that's what we're designing for once you've opened your brand new project you're going to see you have an open scene and the first thing we want to do is tell unity what we are designing for which is an android phone one of these so what you want to do is go into your build settings and just switch the default platform to android phone in your player settings you also want to go down to xr settings and make sure that euphoria is supported since that's the tech we're going to be using to make an ar model step 4 of euphoria so what you're going to do in your scene is you're going to go down to game asset and before your engine and import an ar camera by now unity is going to ask if you want to import a bunch of assets just say yes in the inspector if you click on open view for your configuration it's going to take you to the before your development panel i'm a radio developer but you guys should just sign up it's free the first thing you want to do in euphoria is get your license key you're going to do this by going up to the get development license key and copy and pasting the really long serial code back into unity the second thing you want to do in euphoria is go and set up your targets you're going to do this using the target manager in the target manager you're going to upload your targets make sure they aren't bigger than 2 megabytes and give them a width and a name as well once you've uploaded a target before it's going to tell you how good your target is how good your target is is basically how indistinguishable it is so if your target kind of looks like it could be something else your camera is going to have trouble picking that up once you've uploaded all the targets that you're using you're going to want to download this dart space from the v4a developer panel back into unity step five is merging your models and your target in unity go game assets before your engine and add an image target here from the drop down list you're going to be able to choose which targets you want where and basically what you want to do now is superimpose your 3ds on top of your image targets this tells you to see what you want to superimpose over the target once it recognizes it in the ar camera it's really important to make sure that your 3d objects are children of your image target this hierarchy in the scene is super important once you've got your targets and your models in your scene and you're happy with how the hierarchy is set up then you'll be ready to export the apk also by this point if you have a webcam you'd be able to test out how the app works by just waving the target in front of your webcam i don't have a webcam currently so i'm just going to export to export the apk go back to where you change your build settings and just press build once your apk is pulled you want to plug your samsung into your computer and drag and drop the apk onto your samsung phone what you want to do on your samsung phone is look for the um app so i'm gonna say heyo demo apk that's come up so i'm gonna click on that it's got the default unity logo then it's going gonna be all the way at the bottom i'm gonna say install [Music] i'm gonna say install anyway i've installed cool i'm going to open the app and what i'm going to do now is i'm going to send myself the triggers so that i can have them on my ipad all on my phone and i have my triggers on my ipad and i'm just going to record that as you can see the model is superimposing over the trigger and it's going with however i do that let's go to the floor plan see how well that does there we go you can even look through the windows uh something that's really cool as well is that the lighting from the unity the directional light follows with however you position this so you can see the lighting on the inside will change as well thanks for watching guys if you found this helpful please give it a like and subscribe and don't forget to download the free apk that i made in this project in the description below
