[Music] today I'm Matt Cole - the kangaroo kid this has been my Paul hand I'm over here where standard the Tanners we do ATV stunt shows are we're here to talk about ATV safety safety gear is a very very important thing it's the most important thing I mean obviously if you look a bit dodgy driving remember field chasing your sheep dressed up like this but you know we're the proper motocross boots support we've got elbow pads back protectors shoulder pads but of course the helmet but we're on the farm you still have to wear the safety gear a lot of ATV dealers actually supplying helmets with the machine now this has actually got eye protection as well and this is really like also your gloves we always always make sure you wear gloves assure maximum grip on the handlebars do you get any rain or even if you're racing you've got full grip at all times okay so the most important thing about ATV riding it's the pre checks before you even ride the ATV the method we use is T clock method T for tires and wheels you always go to make sure you run the correct tire pressures most ATVs come with a tire pressure gauge so you want to be using this before you get out every time see for controls and cables gonna make sure your cables are free and not snagged up because if they're snagged they could end up catching or splitting the cables and then your brakes not gonna work and the most important cable in your ATV is your throttle cable we've always got to make sure the Frog returns because when you're out riding if you back off the throttle and the cable stick in the fall is gonna be wide open still and it gonna keep going alpha lights and electrics lights usually on farm ATVs they want to be one of your lights on at all times say more visible to people and people around you you've got Killswitch when your handlebars which is very handy if you get into any trouble down at eight hands off you can just flick the switch either way and it'll kill the engine the next one is over for oil and fuel always going to make sure you check the oil and make sure the ATVs got the correct oil on these ATVs you've got a glass mirror on the side where you can check the oil make sure you got enough if you're going out on any long any long rides you want to make sure you feel your full tank to the top and the last thing we check is the c4 chain always make sure the chains are oiled so they can go rusty it will seize up you also want to be checking the frames especially the swinging arm you can run your fingers down the frame and the spring and I'll make sure let's make cracks and also visual inspection just make sure there's no cracks anywhere before you go out riding one of the biggest misconceptions about an ATV well it's got four wheels and it's not gonna fall over surely what could go wrong and so it gives you a false sense of security you start to ride you think ice is good yeah I'm doing I Canas tuck slightly on the corners a bit and the technique changes the faster you go and you've got a totally change of riding style you've gotta be fairly rider active on these ATVs so you're moving your body weight around all the times so you're turning left into a fast corner shift your body weight into the corner left-hand side of the bike and you won't be looking where you going straight ahead and then you can push your body weight balance your right leg then to right shift your body weight so right leave me into the corner looking where you're going and the weights down in your left leg also when you go an uphill if you've got a gradual sleep you want to be lean forward and if there's any steeper you can also stand up and get more weight over the front and then heels heels on the foot pegs do when you're going down it's the opposite getting your weight over the back wheels and then when you're down shift your body weight back to the center of the btv I choose to ride Honda's because you know that they're not gonna break in half and it's very important when I'm jumping over something and we're doing all our stunts that you know the thing is look you have a wheel fall off all the swingarm snap or whatever and so Honda's are the most reliable machine out there and we wouldn't trust their lives to anything else do you want to learn more about ATV safety and I'd be a better rider I highly recommend you take on the easy course which Honda do offer when you buy a new ATVs has highly recommended they run this course and please don't try our stunts at home [Music]
