Attention all Toyota owners with a PUSH BUTTON START! - prevent car theft!!!

all right attention all toyota owners that have the toyota smart key fob if you have one of these and you want to know how to possibly extend your battery life or prevent theft this video is for you so stay tuned and we'll be going over some fine details about that so for those with the smart key you know that if you leave this in your pocket you can walk up to the car or truck grab the handle and it unlocks for you you jump in you push the push start button and it starts right up and you also know that by closing the door and pressing this it'll lock as well as leaving the key in there and trying to lock it it'll refuse to do so you may also be aware that when you press this little button the key slides out this little guy comes out and you can get in and hold this against the smart button and it'll start right up many of you may not know exactly how this little guy works so the way one of these works is it's actually amplifying a signal that comes out of the fob which from what i read goes three to five hundred feet and this is constantly trying to communicate with not only your vehicle but any vehicle possible so it's basically saying is that you is that you is that you and it's constantly trying to figure out which one is yours another interesting fact is your vehicle is not the only one that's communicating with your fob in fact all other vehicles and from what i understand not even just toyotas other manufacturers are sending out a communication trying to communicate with your fob so what's interesting is this signal is always being emitted unless you do a little magic trick that will deactivate the constant emitting of that signal which will help you save battery life and prevent theft so what you have to do is you take your key fob and while holding the lock button you press the unlock button twice so let me demonstrate and you'll see the red light blink a couple times now when i go up to the truck this is on me and i go to unlock it by touching it nothing happens look i'll even give it a second it's no longer emitting the signal this is going to save you battery life and protect you from theft but you might be wondering how could somebody steal my vehicle it's a smart key it's only for my car well here's the funny thing about these little guys this signal emits information kind of like credit cards do with the chip and if i'm a criminal and i want to take a blank fob i can use a computer to read the signal on yours download it onto my computer and put it onto my blank fob then as a criminal i can simply take this and use it as my own so by deactivating the fob whenever you want to it's no longer going to be readable by anybody using a computer with a scanner here's the catch when i do the trick to deactivate this in order to get this to work again i have to push a button it's easy but say my hands are full of stuff and i'm used to just kind of walking up to my truck or my car and grabbing it real quick you know i got my bag and two fingers and i just do this real quick to unlock it i don't really have the hand to do this you won't be able to do that but if your hands are free you take your key fob out you press any button and now it's reactivated and i can use it like i normally would now watch ready oh there you go ready to roll so i hope that video helped i'm a little bit i'm not paranoid but i'm a little bit conscious about stuff like that um i live in a very busy area you know where my truck may be vulnerable to that type of activity if you do your research there's even people online that have lived in a rural area where it's not as busy that i've had people just say i kind of like that car i'm gonna scan it program under a blank fob and take it but if you don't care about that at least you can save the battery life which is nice too so if the video helped please let me know in the comments on my other videos i've been very excited to see people talk about how much i help them it really makes me happy to help people out if you have any suggestions i love taking suggestions for videos if you're aware of current events the chip shortages cause inventory to be pretty low so i might not have a specific model and trim at this time but shoot me a request thanks guys i'll see you in the next one
