i've done lots of princess dress cakes in my day i've done so many videos on youtube and i'm used to these all the time i like using half to your pants because like use a regular size pan i mean like a round pan and you've got to carve it it's just a mess so i just bake it in this like little bowl thing that goes in the oven and i make this confetti mess out of parchment paper that goes in the bowl to keep the cake from sticking to it so it pops out because otherwise there's no way you were getting this sucker out of the bowl it comes out like this when you unfold it and you just put it in your cake pan with some like that spray i was gonna say spray adhesive don't do that um what's this girl yeah not not like not like the girl and dick dog the cooking thank you like cooking spray and that just like keeps parchment paper onto the pan and keeps it from sticking and i just made my regular vanilla cake recipe that was enough to make four of these like six inch half spheres and just baked that off yesterday so that we were good to go today with our cakes i wrapped them in clang wraps that way they didn't get stale overnight do you see how it how it kind of comes in at the bottom i kind of like that for the dress i think that's kind of cute it's almost like it's like belled out and like poofed underneath her and it's kind of like tucking in i've come up with different designs for each one of them and i'm really excited i just don't know how it's all gonna work this is where caking meets crafting most dress cakes i've done i've just used a doll that i've put in the cake but these ones are so tiny that i had to find these images online to use and i just searched um doll on a stock website for images and i found these and they're they're really cute and i feel like they're going to really match oh my god maybe that's why i want to do space ones today because i did i printed these yesterday so i need to i need to cut them out but these are the most terrifying things this makes me feel like i'm like a doctor but like in a very unsafe way because they come with these like scary very medically looking seals that's more better for you okay as long as there's more better for you kevin that's more better okay look at this little little hand groove this little triangle boom boom i'm thinking i'm just gonna hot glue like cake pop sticks to the back so that way i can stick these right into the cakes oh that's angled we're figuring this out for the first time so the whole thing with this cake is we're doing a tsunami cake or a pull-me-up cake the dress is gonna be the icing and the decoration and we're just gonna stick this on top i think we're ready to make the ganache i changed my mind we need to do the acetate first i've never bought it and i couldn't find it in any small like quantity of like one sheet i can only find this like big hefty package of a lifetime supply of it that's a lot flimsier than i thought it would be that's not what we needed oh i asked them and they said this yeah it's super flimsy it's gotta hold its what am i gonna do with that i we could try genius i am you think before the video i've had this for like a month and a half i would have opened it up and like is this the right stuff so the problem the problem is it's not holding its shape so it's not a full circle but that's not even the biggest problem can you see this big gap here we're supposed to put ganache on top of this and then that's supposed to hold in all the ganache like a little vessel and then you pull this up and it goes pouring down like a tsunami i want to do the only thing i can think of is that we have these we have cookie cutters which i've also seen people do which i wanted to do one with them anyway is to show like you can use cookie cutters but don't use like double broil melt my chocolate i just do in the microwave and like stir stir stir but i need to melt a lot of chocolate and that would take forever so i'm working with what i have i'm also a little ashamed as a baker cake decorator person that this is what i do for my living that i don't have a double broiler or anything to do that with that looks pretty melty now i'm gonna use liz from the sugar geek show she has like a a water ganache people he always used cream but apparently he used water i've done it before it's worked so i don't like chocolate chocolate doesn't like me we're not friends every time i work a chocolate i end up with like a headache and things don't work and i measured and weighed and we double checked our math and this is the ratio but this looks like a lot of water you do not seem bothered by this but like i'm always the one making the chocolate for you anyway i know fact okay let's just oh no kevin you said all of it at once kev don't apparently it's supposed to seize and then you keep stirring and it unseizes but this just looks like a liquidy clay puddle mess and i'm terrified because that was a lot of chocolate and i do not have like backup chocolate and it's seasoning i hate when it seizes anxiety i swear i can hear your heart beating you got it you got this you lack confidence you lie and i have zero confidence so i need you to have the confidence for both of us should i tell them or are you that i was right you had nothing to worry about um okay it just happened to work out but off camera kevin got his phone out and started looking at it and realized you're supposed to add the water a little bit of time i don't know in the instructions she said heat your chocolate add your warm water and then there was a video that showed adding a little bit at a time wow wow just wow so just you should think the lucky stars that this worked lucky start yes we got it is the important part we got it i i think most of the work nothing to worry about here today everyone my name is everything okay it looks silky so now the question is when is it ready to pour because there's no instructions out there telling us what temperature it needs to be when it's ready to pour it's more the consistency it has to be liquidy enough that it covers the dress but it can't be too liquidy that like the cake shows through i'm just gonna have to guess with the first one and i'm gonna track the temperature with my broken um thing that's taped together and and then we can judge from there what was that look i fixed it after you broke it yes i broke it yeah and i fixed it so don't give me a hard time so if we look at the color of the pink spatula and we look at the color of the yellow cake if it's dripping off of here and i see pink through you're gonna see yellow through but it has to still drip so i'm trying to find that happy balance because as this cools it'll set and solidify a bit and it'll get thicker delicate waiting games i've got a big plate to catch the excess chocolate a little bowl because i thought i could put my cake on top of the bowl and then the chocolate will just pour over top of it and catch the excess chocolate i think you're probably just overthinking everything yes a hundred percent i got three dress ideas that i'm trying to do i'm gonna do one with sprinkles and then i'm going to do another one i've got all this glitter and i find that dry another one like tie-dyed with like a bunch of different colors what joke was it you're probably overthinking everything because i'm probably overthinking everything shirt oh my god oh no i got chocolate on my forehead my hair um yeah i over think a lot i'm going with one cup of chocolate for the first pour i can still see pink a little bit that's the part you're over thinking though i can see pink through seeing through that you're not worried about how it's going to flow down that's so float look that's so flowy it's going to flow i need to get like confetti cannons in the background in the living room and like big flags and banners that all fall down i just push a button it all happens that when i'm right that everything just like goes okay and a song plays and it says i told you so on the banners i'm gonna get that installed one day there's a company that'll do that for me is it thickening okay this is 88 degrees i feel like it seems like it's good to go so i'm just gonna we're gonna go for it we're just we're just gonna go for it oh my god please don't start pouring until i'm ready please don't leak out oh no i'm dripping i just like dripped a little bit and then i almost like splashed it all over the little doll okay sprinkles they used a lot of sprinkles so i'm using a lot of sprinkles is everything good can i can i do it so pull up it worked that was really cool i mean the biggest pain in the butt it would be so hard to time it for a party but like that's really cool and i feel like it looks really cute oh look at her little sprinkle gown i like it i really like it i feel like that's like that was the right consistency that was the right consistency because it's not see-through but it's still poured so now let's pour the other ones before this cools off oh wait wait wait wait half a cup i poured half a cup of chocolate that was like the perfect amount it fit into the the ring and it was like it poured perfectly there's a little bit of excess but you would need that to make sure it's covered half a cup chocolate winning chocolate on your forehead again this one i want to do like glittery and pink so i'm going to dye my chocolate um i'm using a chocolate food coloring to do that but can we also take a second like that was the perfect consistency the perfect temperature the perfect amount of chocolate like i nailed that with chocolate okay this one i want to do a ballerina i bought so much glitter because i didn't know how much glitter i was gonna need edible glitter is freaking expensive ready it's hard to get the glitter like even they use so much though i can't imagine it tasting good with that much glitter i'm just doing what the trends do okay yeah maybe too much glitter maybe it's just the wrong kind of glitter because it like clumped together it did clump together i feel like i should have used more of like a coarse glitter than like a fine dusted glitter because that did not work i mean it does look like a cool chunky texture it's just not what i was going for i was going with like full shimmer gowns i feel like if you want to take a bite of that you would just inhale glitter [Laughter] what do we think next one next one i have never seen anybody do more than one color of ganache so i wanted to try to do some like epic hippie tie-dyed gown so i've got all these different colors that i just mixed i'm trying to keep them the same temperature so we will still pour evenly i think i'm just gonna dollop it all in randomly and i feel like then when i lift this up it'll pour through and look really cool but i have no idea because no one's ever done multiple colors that i've seen i'm like the most excited about this one because i have no idea how it's gonna look ready what do we think do we like it it's pretty cool i think it would have been cooler if you had done like maybe mix it around a little bit oh that looks cool what are you talking about that looks so purposeful look it comes in at a little point and then like comes through i did not mean to do that i was expecting a lot more like i'm here for it like that looks really cool okay not
