hi guys my name's Sam increase I'm gonna vent Rider and I'm here chatting to her blueberry because I'm at Carl Hester's yard because I'm sponsored by aqua safety and well come to talk to Carl hester about his new range that's been created by Nicki Fletcher of equi safety so after I finished chatting to him we're going to have a quick checkup okay guys so we're I'm in it Carl's tack room and I got was gonna ask you a few quick kind of questions and we've got some awesome questions as well on them online first one what's the craziest rumor that you've ever heard about yourself oh these are the these little questions always catch me crazy rumors I did hear actually once that I was autistic and in fact what happened was somebody actually said to me it's amazing how when you do considering your autistics I said in fact what actually happened was I used to work at the for she said two years ago when I moved to England and I in fact looked after autistic kids when I was 16 years old that's where you know let's try big risk is for you got construed but just for the record I'm not very artistic uh it was a great great beginning as well I've ridden some I've read Flint Curtis who won magma - I'm expect great as fear as I love riding him that was like I dunno I left the floor when I jumped him because he was so smooth a gentle mild rain that won the Darby William fellow hair that was an amazing experience and I've written for leg row so I don't think there's another horse anywhere that I would have liked to bring them I think looking back from the past it was a book called Rembrandt a lot of dressup gold medals and it Eliza lightest most beautiful dress I've ever seen always remember that's what really I think converted me to want to do it though because I like to doubt myself and yeah I think for me I always liked Ginny lanes horses yeah and remember muscle yeah yeah honestly I was so good at training better and what is your butcher Westfall or injury well I actually broke my leg my echoing several places when I was 21 and I just made it to my first European Championship and basically we had our final team selection on the weekend and the lady heard the horse I was riding said to me why don't you go home for three days and then come back we're going to Italy the following weekend the European Championships so it was a big deal for me you know I mean I've never been on a team before and this does happen quite quickly and I was inventing as well at the same time so I came home took out one of my favorite lemon horses which was just a young chestnut mare and canter across the field pheasant flew out she turned over and the still acquire crushed my ankle so yeah I was off about quite a while see so you obviously you're just has an event in slightly over that yeah Wendy been completed well basically when I got the job with dr. Bechtel Simon and I think he felt you know that he was the best time in me yeah and I mean I I did realize you know I was you know I was quite happy about producing horses I didn't really have big ambitions to go to by yourself I think that's so fairly I think you have to be a very special type of character who's in there and all that was me so I mean bet it was not a difficult decision but doctors never know I went back to it I left I say we top three for three and a half years and then when I left I went straight back to inventing I'm one of the Kings my first event back which is great that's the probably go there in the event I've still got video that was back in back to 93 totally cool yes it was yeah I still have that on a video nervous everyone remember my days so talking about the rain the rain check your range and which is your favourite car mister well interesting I mean my colour special my logo is green for my website and color I've always loved but I like wearing black and white personally but the interesting thing is to see the green in a jacket yeah it's really vibrant and it is a bit Brown and it's different you don't see colors like that that way so I can watch my plastic that's right and I mean black and white is always a cool factor I think with everybody and you know if you're a bit more out the box I think you probably like the gritty yeah but the interesting thing with how it really like came back was the fact that you know I was always you know tell you always think because if you work with horses that perhaps you are able to wear this many scruffy poses you like and of course it's like you know we're always you know I'm always either teaching or riding and you want to look smart and when the opportunity came up to you know I have a little bit of input you know like what would you wear with you I'm wearing then I just so actually you can work you can go to work look smile yeah doing this range that was your main thought safety aspect involvement is well of course the colors are great they stand there you know especially for my girls and the guys here they go hacking on sorry I know they're gonna be seen but it's also very wearable and smartphones for working in yeah I came to moving on to what is that what is the funniest way this thing that's happened to you in a dress or arena well I've always gone perfectly know how many ways go perfect because it's definitely well we have you know wreaths when I went to my first European Championship and they always had a showroom that used the quarter box on and it was like dress I chose it didn't have those you know this is just for sharing but they had a showroom we put course lots on the halls and I was at a European Championships going round yesterday as I went to have the center and the horse put his tongue over the bit and this long tongue was going around I was riding and I never done been in a situation before but I was on a team so basically I'm looking looking at somebody for that happened do I keep going or do I come out and everyone was like because you're on the team so you have me you go and as I went past the judges boxes she obviously felt very sorry for me that judges see in the European changes so she said quite loudly so she cuz well he doesn't need to worry because they can always play chess on the horses back side at the end of his test yeah and they did kind of relax exactly as it was all going terribly wrong which it was and I wasn't eliminated but probably one of my worst tests but I always remember her words to say that I could turn and play that kind of like cheered me up no it was all going so wrong and then I had a I did a test once and I was doing the walk he was half second half circle and the port was seven she just didn't wanna know that also and she the arena and across three arenas that were next door and then I managed to get so you're right and then I just finished testing the chest and you realize yes and then we later in Horsham pound is a French one her section despite maybe not okay so who would be your best dinner party guests have any favorite like a movie star or singer that you like I think I'd like somebody I was probably comfortable with so I mean I mostly feel kind of like Australia bazi so you know you wouldn't relax I quite like people that have worked in the fields my father was an actor so I'm quite used to those sort of people they're quite they're quite out of character all the time yeah so I would quite like that I was lucky piggy came here was actually a bought Jennifer Saunders River and took me out to dinner and that was a very entertaining evening and she promised me because I was so excited I happened in a minute that she would talk and asked me to have dinner with Dawn French one day you never know who's watching TV today my dream might come true you never know you know and I want to start about with your father being and because you were on you were bought up because we were born in the same county Cambridge it is it on online you boarding image now oh man everyone says Wikipedia will experience it you know enjoy everything okay Bruce no I was brought up in the shallows yes oh okay well well no my my father basically decided to live over here in England because obviously that's a I was going to work my mother and I stayed in the Channel Islands and I went to school down there brought up there and then came back to live here when I was 15 years old yes sir and then remember that back here again and he he's been in all sorts of correlation straight extenders films yeah things like that bit parts nothing major yeah that's my friend there where it says you know yeah the wooden the wooden actors back on tell you whatever I really mean by hate you know because when you met somebody you realize you know actually that's what I so it's yeah it's not a non horsey family which we all find quite strange because no one knows to ever get it from like going back come the generations my grandmother's father in fact was rather big yeah yeah my great-great grandfather he was okay Oh Charlotte wanted to know do you have any lucky pants sorry online I have my yeah as that I write it that way well a lumpy pair because that wouldn't be very hygienic so I got a lots of pairs I arrived and I saved them just for competitions and yeah they come around as well yeah okay support because you know like I know it's quite a bit you know people because really weird but actually riding you know like comfort is really important and I always you know I you know sometimes I watch a really good writer and I'll watch the way they say on the oils and always thinking you really have to bet you you know especially for a dress size you have to make a seat then you have to get wrong so you're going to say you need some better well I think maybe they have that effect that's why I always I think so I do have and then I'm talking sure we had another question on line and what is it that you saw in Charlotte when you first were ended and did you see this Callum straight away I think with Charlotte what I it was more what I felt because I actually was an Assessor a talent spotting day she bore her horses all I rode her horse but I didn't particularly challenged him to stand out as an amazing rider on that day when I got on our horse and I thought but this is amazingly great right yeah really it was only young or six years old but he felt it was really easy to ride it was northern it was me what'd she say I'm legit thought was really was really great and although the horse didn't look like a superstar he felt like you've been trained by one so I got off and I said to a panel of judges I said you know missiles has been really well trained they need to take this horse and this rider yeah put them forward and so I was exposed to Charlotte after the day and she said cause she come in a week's lessons she was really excited I've ridden a horse and I thought she done a really good job so she came to Philly and over Christmas one year well I think it's 11 or 12 years ago now yeah and she never really was like that searchers never Maxine yeah that was it and she moved in she took everyone my horses and I loved enthusiasm you know what there's nothing like it's infectious you know when someone comes to ride to ride my horses like that ocean what to do with right every single horse every second X I said I was just like yes I'm not that sort of enthusiasm for a job and for the horses they meant all the difference isn't it yeah and she wanted to compete you know I've never really been a competitor you know I mean I obviously do compete I have to but you know it's not my pleasure so to have somebody also that just what does it appeal a little bit something was saying you know really married I used to play with that once you guys get on extremely well and another question was and what do you find most annoying thing about Charlotte and to me since she when she's like maniac me or complaining or you know we all have nickels I mean you know at the end of the day we are and everyone who knows it's you know we're mates again is like married couple and admittedly and we're quite happy arguing just because we disagree of course doesn't mean we hate each other yeah that's number one you know when title disagreement I mean Elvis she's got the more opinionated she's got and I have to listen to that and obviously she has ideas as well now you know she's changed some horses now you know very well and very successfully obviously up to gold medal Sanders yeah so you know there are conversations that I mean obviously that we have never had we didn't have ten years ago so yeah I mean you know that irritates me sometimes but you know I know irritated her but she's you know she is somebody that you know I can work with yeah and there's made me better and I think that's the main thing you know I think you know I did a lot for her in the early days and obviously set on a path but now it's a two-way street and you might work you must like help each other through tough times because I mean you've been doing this for a long time and yeah love just we have time anywhere from competing yourself up pressure down a major event yes can be immense you know like not only you really worried for yourself and your horse anywhere Agnes you've got people to deal with you've got press especially at like big occasions and those are things that she needed a lot of help with and they are things that we do do help each other with so it does work very well and you know she can't chicken out deal with those pressures a lot better and if you all having like a you know a tough time know in whatever way whether it be to do with the horses or present or whatever what's your way of dealing with it is it to go off and ride and be away or right riding is a in the luxury I mean really is something for me riding at home is a luxury I mean I could do this all day long I mean I just ride out there happily at home my little erotic I love training it does distress me I try and go away for a few days every month three or four days yeah and just gonna have Sun and relaxation of food and that's a great idea because I do you find that and every year I'm gonna make sure I have yeah never materializes yeah for it you know before you you know what I'm saying that I always there offers and I'd never get too busy making a living you forget to make a lot yeah that's a brilliant it's a brilliant man look here if I pack of course we will have to make a living horses need looking after all the time but you also need to recharge your batteries and need to be excited about what you're doing which I do know the balance seems to be right now yeah thank you very much for giving us your time and giving you some insights and things I had one last question and who is the best interview very interesting because I think there's a few questions there you are and thanks very much for joining us guys
