KRISTIE: Previously
on "Raising Asia." MAN: Welcome to Las Vegas, baby. ASIA: (RAPPING) My
name is Asia Monet. I'm representing today,
and I have a few things that I wanted to say. This week, we're
heading to Vegas. Billy has booked her
at Planet Hollywood. This is a very
important weekend. I need to make sure
we're not having the coach and the choreographer
fighting in the back. You know what I'm saying? This number, I put together. But what if it doesn't work? We've been doing
this for 35 years. Don't be combative with me. I've never fired
anyone in my life, but it looks like
it might be imminent if these guys can't get along. KRISTIE: Tonight
on "Raising Asia." I don't want to say I
got slapped in the face, but my feelings
are a little hurt. I don't even think the
Rays know where I fit in. You give Billy the upper hand. But you got to understand. Y'all act like
y'all scared of him. [sobs] Stop, mom. Really? Go, please. You stress everybody out. Are you kidding me? I don't care if
I even have a show. WOMAN: Asia. [music playing] Woo-hoo. At the [inaudible] Studio. Woo. How are you? The air is kicking in here.
Hi. Yeah. How are you? This week, we're in Las
Vegas for Asia's singing debut. This is going to be the first
time people hear her sing. She's going to be at
Planet Hollywood singing her original song
this is huge for Asia. (SINGING) Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. (SPEAKING) Today, I'm at
the recording studio with Billy, and we're going to record
my second song, "Go Back." And it's going to be awesome. Rewind my jam. This is what we're going to
do is sing the root light airy over the top of the melodic
line to fatten it up. This is the first time
I'm seeing Asia record in the studio. This is a really big
important moment for Billy. Billy's got to prove to me that
he's got the skill to take Asia to the next level, but
if he doesn't, he's going to have a very
short career as it relates to my family. From the intro, so the
(SINGING) rewind my jam. That's perfect. (SINGING) Rewind my jam. Just that piece
right there, and-- This is, like, surreal for me. (SINGING) Rewind my jam. We can take it back. Throw up your hands. Rewind my jam. We can take it back. Throw up your hands. I remember the times we had
before we got in this mess. I used to tell you everything. We were friends. It was the best. Cut. Good. That was actually
really, really good. Sound good. Sitting here listening
to Asia's music, I feel like she just grew
up in front of my eyes. This has, like,
happened overnight. Where was I, sleeping? I mean, she's
actually a performer. It sounds legit. That's good. See, dad? This is how I roll. BILLY: Oh. It's weird I never had-- oh, look at dad moving. My dad doesn't know
that much about dance. I think the only thing he
knows about dance is the robot. That's some stuff. Yeah, keep to your robot. You can't do moves. BILLY: Ah, that was
good stuff right there. I got to catch my plane. I need a finished
product, and when we get that finished product,
I need to know when and where it's going to go. What breaks my
heart is you're going to miss her first performance. Unfortunately, I got to
catch a plane to Dallas, Texas. This is one of those
tough decisions where I have to go to work so she
can keep doing what she does. At least I'm leaving
here feeling like she's in the right hands, OK? This isn't somebody's garage. We're not in some
backyard studio. This the Palms Hotel,
Celine, Beyonce. So now stop-- Because you're doing it right. So now stop giving me havoc. Since Shawn has
to leave early, I want him to hear how we mix
the different song that Asia will perform tomorrow. MAN: Asia, hit it one time. ASIA: (RAPPING) My
name is Asia Monet. I'm representing today,
and I have a few things that I wanted to say. Paparazzi coming at me
because it's plain to see I've been knocking on the floor
since the age of three. This week is the
biggest event in her life. She's going to perform
in the entertainment capital of the world-- Las Vegas, Nevada. This is going to be the
launching pad of her singing career, and that big
concert at Universal, we're going to knock
it out of the park. I'm not going to be available
for this final performance, but I know Billy's
aware this better be a performance of
a lifetime or it'll be his last performance
with my daughter. Right there. KRISTIE: Big girl. See this right here? Yeah. I need an Asia Monet up there. This is the best time ever. KRISTIE: Nice. Perfect. I'm in a recording studio,
and I'm signing the wall next to Beyonce. That's crazy. Watch out, world. You see this? It's coming for you. [music playing] [knocking] Hey. Hey. How are you? Come in to the dirty place. That's OK. [inaudible] What's up? What's up? Good. We're in Las Vegas for
Asia's singing debut, and Shawn and I made
the executive decision to pull Anthony's creative
and give Billy the chance to prove himself and take
over this choreography and this whole performance. So Anthony comes up to
the room because he's not happy about this. I don't want to
say, like, I feel like I got slapped in the
face, but my feelings are a little hurt. I've been working with
Asia since she was six, and now that Billy's around,
I could feel like I'm being pushed to the side. Asia's definitely a bit edgier
than the image Billy's trying to portray right now,
so it's hard for me to figure out where
I am on this team. I don't even think the
Rays know where I fit in. I know they want me here, but
I don't know in what capacity. You're giving Billy
the upper hand. Now he's the acting coach,
the vocal coach, the manager, the choreographer. This was him-- but
you got to understand-- It's just like-- but
I don't understand. Like, how would you
give him so much? Y'all act like
y'all scared of him. You're giving
Billy the upper hand. Y'all act like
y'all scared of him. Well, you know I'm
not scared of him. We're here in Vegas,
and Anthony is upset. As it stands, we're handing
the choreography over to Billy. Billy watched you
do World of Dance. Now Shawn is putting
him to the test to see how he does
here because I've been, you know, overbearing mom. I'm now letting myself sit back. I'm letting Shawn make the
decision on this one and Billy because I'm tired of everyone
getting on me because I'm not letting her do something. Kristie is not oblivious
to Billy's mistakes. But I think she wants
him on her team so bad, and I don't know
what the reason is. I don't think it's fair that
just because Billy [inaudible] with this gig, he gets
to be in total control of this performance. This is not right. Since Billy had this, so
I'm able to bring something and I can get total
control, right? Yeah, and you better bring it
a week before she's on stage. OK.
All right. Bet. All right. I don't know where this became
a struggle between Anthony and Billy, but as long as
there's no physical fighting and people stay in
their lanes, I just need to get Asia
where she needs to be, and this team needs
to work together. [music playing] Asia, say your prayer. Thank you, God, for
all the opportunities that you have given us, and
watch over us on this dance. And we're going to be amazing. On one, two, three. Ready? One, two, three. Asia. Amen. She must have learned
that prayer from you. Planet Hollywood is going to
be the biggest performance Asia has ever had, and she's eight. This performance is going to
show us if Asia can actually hold her own performing and
singing original music in front of a huge audience. [knocking] It's the police. Oh, no. KRISTIE: Oh, good. Take her. Take her. No. What's up, guys? Hey. Y'all ready to hit it? She's got a lot of sleep. [mumbling] She's got a lot
of sleep, so she has more energy than she needs. How do you feel? Asia, you ready? ASIA: Yeah. Yeah? You got all your lyrics? ASIA: Yeah. Got all your steps? Yeah. Of course I would love to
have choreographed you in Vegas, but I understand, and I'm going
to be screaming loud like mama. I think Kristie and Shawn
are making a huge mistake. We all know Asia's
little kid incorporated, but I'm going to stick around
and wait for this phase to pass, because I
know [inaudible].. I know what I'm doing. I kind of got some
good news a little bit. Really? ASIA: Oh, no, God. Yeah, what's going on? You know who Kelly Rowland is? It's a really good
friend of mine. Kelly Rowland? Mm-hmm. That's what you
call a superstar. She wants Asia
to open up for her. Yeah! Where at? It's at Long Beach Pride. Wow! This could be something really
big for her career, you know? KRISTIE: Yeah. And I think it's
a great opportunity. Uh, heck yeah. The conflict between
Anthony and Billy is actually helping our
team because as long as Billy and Anthony keep
trying to outdo each other, it's only good for Asia. She's, like, Beyonce's cousin. You're opening up
for Beyonce's cousin. That's a step up. It's a huge opportunity for Asia
to open up for Kelly Rowland from Destiny's Child. She's a superstar. I need a lunch with Beyonce. I mean, you got to crawl
before you can walk, Asia. You're too big
for your britches. She's OK. Opening up for Kelly
Rowland sounds amazing, but right now, I
have to stay focused. This show at Planet
Hollywood is going to give her the experience to be
that pop star she wants to be. All right, let's go. She needs to kill
this performance, and then we can talk
about Kelly Rowland. You're going to rock it. [music playing] Asia, are you nervous
at all or excited? Are you nervous? Heck no. KRISTIE: No? No. KRISTIE: Not even a little bit? I mean-- Not even this much. GINA: Well, no, this is big. It's a big deal. This is big because you're
singing for the first time. I know. So this is going to be
a new thing for your fans. I know, but I'm not nervous,
and you guys are creeping me out by all your questions. I'm worried about Asia
because she's so calm and feels that she's just going
to knock it out of the park, but this is her first time
singing on the stage, singing. Something could happen
while she's singing or she forgets
the words, so I do need to let her know that she
has to really think about what she's going to do on stage. KRISTIE: OK, am I
turning in here or no? Am I going right or left, Gina? GINA: You're going to
go left down Las Vegas. KRISTIE: Read the
directions again. It says left on Flamingo,
left on Las Vegas. KRISTIE: Because we're
going right into a dead end. OK, great thing. Are we here yet? KRISTIE: OK. GINA: Why don't do
you go inside of that? And we're wasting time. I hate wasting time. This is not happening minutes
before Asia gets on stage. I thought Paris was-- GINA: Paris is right behind us. Paris was behind. This is going to be added
stress that we don't need. [music playing] (SINGING) La, la, la, la. La, la, la, la. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. It's a lollipop. It's not candy. We're headed to
Planet Hollywood. Asia is performing at
the V variety show, and she's kind of
all over the map. I think it's going
to be challenging. This is really
important for Asia. This is going to be the first
time people hear her sing. [mumbling] A little bit of
sugar sure makes me feel good. You guys can, like, have a drag,
and you guys won't be, like, so [mimicking arguing] like that. Stop. I told Asia to
not eat the candy. She's going to a
sugar high, sugar low. Right now, I need to get her
there to get her focused. The sugar is going
to throw me over. We're finally here. KRISTIE: I have a big problem. Took me 45 minutes to get
to a five minute spot. My mom stresses
out and goes crazy the day of the performance. Of course she wants
me to be perfect. She gets all nervous, and
ah, and all frustrated. I don't think my mic off. It's a headset. That's basically just her. I like makeup. Hair, not so much. Ow.
Ow. KRISTIE: Asia. Asia, sit still, please. ASIA: You should be doing this. I did. I have 10 in my hair right now. Yeah, I have 2,700. KRISTIE: I know, but you don't
need to be so dramatic, OK? Why is there a problem, Asia? Tell me. I'm hurting right now. Ah. KRISTIE: Right now, you're
not doing yourself a favor. Everyone's watching. They're going to have to see
her act like a little brat, so she can-- ASIA: Stop it, mom. Stop it. Look it. This is-- - Stop it, mom.
- Asia. This is what
you're going to see. Mom, stop. Chill. Just go, mom, please. Look it because
she's acting up. Stop, mom. Please, stop. Can you go, please? Just give me time by myself. Really? Really, Asia? You just did-- really? Mom, can you please leave
because you give everybody stress. GINA: Asia. Really? Really? OK. ASIA: Just leave, mom. Please, stop. (SOBBING) Please! Are you kidding me? Right now I'm losing patience. There is no time for a meltdown. Granted, yes, she has
a big performance, but I'm a mother first. And if you don't have respect
and you think you're getting away with talking
to me a certain way, it's not going to happen. You know what happened here? What? It's because you have
an attitude right now. No, stop it, mom. KRISTIE: Really, Asia? I'm not-- Mom, I have a
performance today, and you stress everybody out. That's what's not going to
happen is your smart mouth is not going to happen. I love what I'm doing, but
I have to make it to the top. And I want to make
everybody happy, and I want to make
everything perfect. She's doing ridiculous. She's being ridiculous. [inaudible] Asia, stop. OK, you have a show. I need a minute. I need a minute. This is what's not
going to happen. You need to stop
with the attitude. Kristie gets into this
mode where she became devil in disguise, and I'm asking
Billy to help right now because, in all honesty, I think
Billy not only has to manage Asia, he needs to manage
Kristie right now. Kristie is just out of control. I'm trying to get
her out of the room-- OK. --to calm Asia,
and they're not-- she's calling for you, so
you need to calm both of them down because Asia's not
going to be able to focus. OK. And she's not
letting her focus, and I don't know what to do. You might need just to-- Just tell me-- let's go. Is it a manager's job
to be a psychiatrist? No, not really, but because
Asia and I bond is so strong, I can't stand on the
side and do nothing. KRISTIE: Dry up. Do an amazing show. I don't care if
I even have a show. I don't. We'll talk to Billy. Baby, what's wrong? I don't care about
the show anymore. It's supposed to be fun
for me because I'm eight. Hey. OK. OK, look at me. I get it. Come here. I love you. Your mama loves you. You hear me? I get emotional too. I'm crazy myself. The stakes are really high
right now for both Billy and Asia. Billy's going out there
trying to win over Shawn. Asia's about to take the stage
for the first time as a singer. She has a lot of
pressure on her. She knows she can
kill a performance, but I think she's a
little nervous of people judging her as a singer. We love you, baby. It's OK. OK, let's pull it together. Can I have a hug? OK. Dry up. Asia's eight
years old, and she's going to have some meltdowns. If I do become the
manager someday, I'll take care of that. If something gets
crazy, give it to me. I want Kristie to be the mom,
and let me be the manager. [music playing] [cheering] Two, three. Asia Monet! I'm about to go on stage
at the V Theater in Planet Hollywood to perform
my first single, and there's so many things
going on in my head. I just hope this performance
goes really well. Give it up now
for Asia Monet Ray! [cheering] [music playing] (RAPPING) My
name is Asia Monet. I'm representing today,
and I have a few things that I wanted to say. Paparazzi coming at me
because it's plain to see I've been knocking on the floor
since the age of three. Hey, been on my grooms,
and I'm keeping alive. I've been rocking and knocking
since the age of five. Now I'm on my own,
and I'm a major rager. Put your hands up in
air, and wave them like you just don't care. Just dance. I said. Hold up. Wait a minute. [inaudible] [cheering] Asia was smashing. Very impressive. A plus on that. Thank you guys for coming. Give it up for my crew. And the crowd goes wild. [imitating crowd] Yeah. [laughs] [cheering] Thank you, guys. Kristie and Billy want
to stick to their little '80s camaraderie and give
Asia these old school tracks and things that are just dated. I think her audience is going
to turn into grandmas more so than the little teenyboppers
that they're trying to get. [cheering] Asia killed it she
looks like she's already a seasoned artist. I just hope that Shawn is going
to make Billy the manager. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. [music playing] I lost to an old lady. GIRL: No. You better say
you lost to grandma. Mom, do you want
some help packing? Yeah, you have time? So I came home from
my trip from Dallas. Once I got the reports
from Las Vegas, I was sold. Everybody gave Billy
an A plus, so I'm going to go ahead and let
Billy do what really does and make Billy the
full-time manager. So how was Las Vegas? I heard there was a
little bit of drama. It was horrible. I wish you were there. SHAWN: What? Asia had a horrible meltdown. I've seen her have meltdowns
before, but go ahead. Asia's yelling at
Kristie saying, mom, leave. Mom, get out of here. Before she performed? Yes, and I'm thinking in my
head, I wish Shawn was here. Kristie needs to
find a happy balance of being momager and being mom. What you experienced is a
lot of what I've experienced. I think at some
point in time, she's going to have to take a step
back and let the people that we bring into Asia's
life do their job. Here she was in her
shining moment, which she's worked for her whole
life, and she's crying. That's traumatic. It's dramatic, and
it's stressful. Luckily, it hasn't
affected her performance, but my fear is is that
it's going to affect her as a person. For nana coming out here. Cheers. So, Asia, you had some
challenges this weekend, but I heard, overall,
it was a success. Uh-huh. Asia, what was the problem
because you were just about to go on stage. Mommy was getting me
a little stressed out. When she says she
needs to be alone, that's your cue
to leave the room. ASIA: Yeah, I said
leave me alone. Gina told me she
asked you to leave, but you didn't hear that because
you were hearing something else. All I'm saying, without
having an argument, if she says she needs her
time, we give her time. Everyone says don't
complain till you walk a mile in my shoes, so Shawn needs to
put on those seven-inch heels. Next on "Raising Asia." I'm going to let Billy have
the lead on this one, OK? ANTHONY (ON PHONE): If you
guys aren't going to give me full creative control, I'm going
to just [inaudible] the gig. I'm bringing you
this opportunity because I know what this is
going to do for Asia, Shawn. I'm not feeling
it, and that's real. You can't choreograph
to the song she has, then don't choreograph. Anthony's kind of
pushing my buttons and testing my patience. Ow.
