welcome back in today's video we'll be discussing ashes of creation's most important topic nodes the game basically revolves around the node system it's the heart of the world which means that all players will take part in and be affected by this in-game mechanic i'm going to talk about what nodes are their purpose the different types of nodes sieges and more some of this is subject to change so i'll make sure to keep you guys updated with any new information if you guys end up enjoying this video please subscribe if there'll be much more ashes of creation content on the way links to my twitter and my discord server will be below let's get right into it [Music] nodes and ashes of creation are the foundation in the center of civilization they are preset points in the world of vera that start off as nothing but empty and uninhabited developmental areas but can blossom into large metropolises players do not create or set these nodes but instead their activity within a node's zone of influence will be weighted and counted towards that node's advancement so questing gathering resources killing monsters raiding you know the typical mmo type stuff will not only help the player themselves but also help the node in that area but why would you want to help a node well nodes are civilization they are the places where players will get quests craft trade purchase housing and participate in a large variety of other services and activities that are essential for your mmo experience as a node advances the more complex and populated the development area becomes which brings along with it more npcs buildings shops and more content in general such as opening new raids and new world bosses some of which are unique to a node the surrounding geographic areas are also very much affected by a node stage so an advanced strong node means a healthy busy well-fed population of warriors adventurers craftsmen and economists the types of players we all want to be in ashes of creation there will be 103 regular node locations at launch and alpha 1 will contain 9 of these these nodes will be predetermined and will be the same across all servers but that certainly doesn't mean that servers will all be the same and how they play out in fact most servers will be very different from each other for a server's player base will be the determining factor in which nodes are advanced a node's physical appearance through its architecture and nodes can also be destroyed through node sieges there's a lot of things that can happen you can probably tell by now that everyone that plays this game will be involved in the node system in some way shape or form it's not like a side activity like instance pvp or rating where all players might not necessarily participate in everyone will participate in the node system so now that you have a general understanding let's delve a little deeper into it and start off by talking about a node's type nodes will be assigned one of four node types each of which will contain unique specializations the four different node types consist of divine nodes economic nodes military nodes and scientific nodes this node type will not change based on a node's advancement so a military node is always a military node regardless of whether it's currently a small camp or if it's become an intimidating city players will be able to identify a node's type by the npcs that appear when a node reaches its first stage of development choosing a node that you want to be a part of will come down to player preference and what you think will benefit you most as a player for example citizens of an economic node that has reached its final metropolis stage will get auction house benefits that a military node citizen will not get these benefits include things such as gaining access to other economic nodes auction houses and getting worldwide sale prices so if you're a player who loves to play the in-game economy these extra benefits will certainly suit you well in your quest to take over everyone's coin purses players who love to pvp might want to help the advancement and become a citizen of a military node for this type of node offers bounty hunting on corrupted players and also reduces the duration of your corruption this is pvp focused benefits scientific nodes unlock teleportation between their metropolis and any of its vassal nodes which are smaller nodes enslaved by the metropolis this allows for these scientific citizens to do things much faster than citizens of other types of nodes such as gathering crafting materials and exchanging goods and information at a quick pace divine nodes we currently have no information on but they will certainly have their own benefits as well each node type will also have unique buildings such as temples for the divine nodes special markets for the economic nodes barracks for the military nodes and libraries for scientific nodes as we get more information i will do dedicated videos on these specific types of nodes so we can really start thinking about what we want as players keep in mind that just because you join a military node it doesn't mean that you can't sell things or if you join a scientific node it doesn't mean that you can't be a beast in pvp these are just added benefits to increase the quality of life in a specific area for a player so there's four different types of nodes each of which bring about their own set of benefits to its citizens and yes you can become a citizen of a node the races of players in a node also have an effect on the architecture of the node so this is something to keep in mind as well maybe you want to help advance and become a citizen of a divine node but you also really want that dwarven influence because you love drinking and having a good time skull all right now let's talk about the advancement stages of a node node stage 0 is currently just called wilderness there's not much there after a few hours of gaining xp for the node it will turn into expedition this is the stage where players can see which of the four types of nodes is going to form here from looking at the npcs at this first stage npcs will offer some services such as vending or banking items stage two is the encampment stage and is said to take many hours in quotations to get to this stage stage three is when the node becomes a village and this is said to take a few days the village stage is when players can start making their claims on the real estate market through purchasing small houses stage four is the town stage and is said to take many days player housing will enter its medium house phase here stage five is the city stage and is said to take a few weeks player housing will enter its large housing phase and the final stage is stage six the metropolis which is said to take many weeks player housing will enter its mansion phase here pretty cool and this is also the stage where each node gets its superpower benefits such as access to more auction houses and an economic metropolis as nodes advance players unlock its unique content which as i said before it's not just city specific it also affects content in the node's surrounding area this surrounding area is called the zone of influence which also grows as a node advances all player activity within a node's zone of influence is what contributes to the node's level as a node encompasses more land as it grows it will also require more effort from the players to be sustained this is where it starts to get more complex but very interesting as a node zone grows it actually limits neighboring nodes ability to advance by absorbing some of their zone of influence larger settlements require more room there's only so much room to give on the map and there can actually only be six metropolises total this is the main driver for change in the world because it creates scarcity stage 3 village nodes enslave nearby nodes and convert them into what is called vassal nodes these vassal nodes must remain at least one node stage below their parent node parent nodes can actually get experience from vassal nodes but i won't get into that in this video so this is a living breathing reactive world where the players truly determine how it blossoms so now we've talked about a node advancing and what that may bring but what about a node going backwards or d leveling this can certainly happen in the game and it will as of right now intrepid studios has designed a node atrophy system but some of this may change based on testing so nodes will accumulate an experience deficit each day based on the node's level this deficit is subtracted from any experience earned that day and if any deficit remains it is subtracted from the node's experience pool when a node actually de-levels it will enter a safe period during which the deficit is temporarily reduced to zero so players will have time to gather themselves from their loss it was said that certain flags will appear to notify node citizens if their node has dropped below the required experience for its current stage so node's d leveling will not just happen out of nowhere players at this time will of course have to work harder and figure out why they are de-leveling and what they can do to stop it players might be heavily invested in housing or be truly taken advantage of the node specific stage six benefits and their node d leveling can be a very serious and important time for them i won't get into the topics of a node's government structure in this video but there will be a mayor and mayors will be able to initiate quest driven systems that non-citizens can participate in which might help out the node's current crisis the mayor can use a portion of the node's treasury or goods as rewards for quest completion to ramp up activity this is an interesting concept and it will be exciting to see how it all works out in testing the last thing i'm going to talk about is node sieges and i'll likely do a dedicated video on this in the future so nodes can be destroyed when they reach their village stage which is stage three and this is through something called node sieges a successful siege will destroy a node reverting it all the way back to stage zero the wilderness this can be quite a change in the world for players because players who are heavily invested into the destroyed node will lose their way of life temporarily and may have to learn to adapt to a new way of life neighboring nodes might now have their chance to advance to all the glory of a full metropolis victors of the node siege will gain access to portions of loot that was stored in the nodes such as in player housing and more the cool thing for all players though is that destroyed nodes now pave the way for new development and access to locked content in the surrounding nodes destroying a node will not be an easy task though and nodes in their later stages of city and metropolis will of course be much harder to destroy for they'll have better defenses set up node sieges can get as advanced as attackers targeting specific buildings with their siege weapons to disable service oriented buildings for citizens of that node there's even something called node wars where node governments may declare war on another node and rally citizens to the cause doing so mutually flags citizens of warring nodes including their allies as combatants there's really a lot to these node wars and sieges and like i said i'll do more in-depth coverage in the future i think this whole node system is really really cool if it works of course one of the best things about this game so far in my opinion is how it strives to create communities within the servers you might be one who doesn't like pvp but i'm sure you love your mansion within the node and you're probably willing to do whatever it takes to help out in the war effort even maybe in a non-pvp way to save your node and therefore a really tight community probably will be created with a little bit of toxicity here and there thanks so much for watching guys if you guys ended up enjoying this video please
