[Music] caleb you're gonna have to be very quiet okay welcome to one stop co-op shop this is eve i'm here with kim hi everybody we're so excited to bring you already at the past we dare tread i've been having a blast playing this and this is your first time playing i know nothing because he said let's see how you take this on without any knowledge about anything so i said okay i will be what am i a ranging ranger elf yes your ranger that's what you picked yes yeah that's all that's all i know so we'll be fine we'll explain the game as we go uh cody and ira are on the chat too so they'll jump in john willis at the end we'll probably take a short break and bring them in on a video feed and we'll have a chat together with everyone so but we are going to run through the tutorial together so if you're worried about uh spoilers this is gonna be fairly spoiler free from that aspect of it there are gonna be some spoilers because we can't avoid of course but since this tutorial it's it's minimal in that regard okay so we are here and i i'm gonna walk through a lot of the i'm gonna walk through some of the setup and stuff like that with you guys because i know when i'm talking to people they were curious like how easy is up the game how does he put away the game so hopefully we'll show you that here we are watching the chat so if you guys have any questions let us know we'll stop and respond to them as they come up okay so what is a radio radio is a big open world adventure game i love adventure games so we are going to be exploring a world map and then we're going to be zooming in onto different terrains and exploring the world from that aspect so um i think we'll just dive into it so let us know if you guys have questions but i'll explain as i go just i'll shoot those questions as we go okay so we are going to start with the events um oh of course first question here says uh why are the player boards look like wood they're not wood they're actually a uh a multi-layered cardboard i say multi-layer because it's not even um it's not even a single layer they're a triple layer in some cases which is pretty cool so like here is beefy yeah they're beefy so they've got lots of layers to them and it isn't particularly interesting when you look at the the world map this one is actually triple layered and i'll show you what it is as we play so it is very cool design okay so let's start off with what i just agree with high dwarf it looks intense looks intense there's a lot going on okay there's a lot going on it's that's first event first statement okay so let's start off with the event this is for the tutorial okay so uh oh no cam's not working there go the path we dare tread the words echo in your mind you blink back sleep as dawn pours into your uh threadbare tent exile is as nearly as romantic as it sounds today is a great thought the hunt should start soon a little luck your training will pay off and you'll be home before harvest the last two works of weeks have been grueling but your mind and body have begun to toughen as you prepare for the day you think about the path you've chosen so now we do the character creation so this is just a quick intro of it um let's let's show you how the character creation works so i wanted to i've got kim's character already created but i don't have my character created so i want to do that with you guys to see how it works so i asked the the uh our discord channel what to pick and so one of the recommendations was to play with a hobbit cleric so that's who i'm playing tonight and so each game you will choose a uh in the game it's labeled as race but you can change the species so here's the halfling i'm playing as and then you also get a a tuck box for the uh the path you chosen so this is the cleric path for example and in this it's going to give you all the things you need for the game and so i have uh here's the boards so we've got different layouts on it so you've got space for your portrait your name titles skills your stats and then you have another board here for your what you're wearing what weapons you have and current current statistics uh like magic and stuff like that so i am playing a halfling so the nice thing is i come with a portrait i come with a halfling indicator and then because i'm a novice cleric i'm called novice noob yes and so i want you guys in chat to help me figure out what my name should be and what my title should be so this is a cool thing about the games a lot of flexibility so these are the three names i'm looking at and then i would like to uh suggest have a name and a title so the names are in brown the titles are in gray so i guess the first question the first combination of c popped up in chat i'll pick that for let's play through tippy the skittish yeah set or the hungry okay estemor that's the more the hungry tipsy the clumsy that's the more the hungry i saw from brady we'll do that one first okay well there's a lot of tippy there's lots oh people reel on tippy okay fine i'll do tip i'm sorry i'm tipping i've seen tippy the skittish a couple times the tiles are they are double-sided yes well sorry the names are the type other ones aren't so tippy the skittish is what i saw the most of so let's go with that so cool and the cool thing about that is these names are going to change as you play the game so we'll put the portrait in the spot on the board we'll put the name tippy uh tippy in the top and skittish as the title okay so mine is all like hold on i'll get to yours in a second we also have a lot of equipment so we have um some some clothing you see here down here in the corner is really important it's got this grid a a nine part grid with a middle section open that is going to align to this board right here and so you can see that's in the center so it's going to be the chest and the legs go ahead so so that's going to go here and i also have a staff as you can see it is a handed weapon and so that is also going to go into the left or right hand slot we're done we won all right do one oh drank too much okay so that is also what's gonna happen um oh okay so here's the race here it also comes with a ability so i do start with a skill the grit skill says while in combat before making a roll spin marker and roll twice keeping the higher roll rest to refresh so we'll go over what that means exactly but basically that's going to go on to my skill board that's what it is so let's go and put that onto the skill board so it's going to go right here and then you also come with a couple other abilities as well these are these are associated with the class i chose the declare class so i have the ability to prepare bandages and the vault as well so these are going to be on my skill as well so can you have custom names and titles um so this is one i think cody might jump in here but currently they're set but you might be able to get a finisher oh sorry you might go get a blank tile which you write on it i think so yep so those skills that go here um so you can have f of a max of five skills and then the important part is the back side and so here is the back of the uh card here i'm at the level zero you can see that my hp is at three magic's at two and and stamina points at three so in this game you've got these tiny little markers here this uh max mp for example here and so this is going to block off my board to be able to um keep things keep finishing your sentence keep things controlled i'm getting distracted you guys are so active on the chat right now so um i told see if i paid just for an expansion for more names yes yes yes it's very cool stuff okay so i'm gonna be putting these on the board so since i have max of two magic i'm gonna put it right here in the two spot and then i've got a blue cube that's gonna go on the two and so this will keep track of um how high this can go up on my track i'll do the same for the hp which is at three for me in the state and my stamina is at three looks like so these slot in like that and we put the cubes on the three and the three so my max stamina magic match health the audio is quiet is it just you or is it everybody else audio's quiet let me see some spoken person steve is quite loud i can easily adjust that it's too loud too quiet for you i'll pump it up a little bit for you guys so that's five skills can we switch those around on the whim or in town great question so you can't switch them but you have to go do it in town it's one of the actions you can do yep uh what prevents the mana keeps from sliding great question if you look at this board there this is actually a dual layer board so um it is it's in there it's nested it's nested in there you can't slide it in one in the diagonal direction so it will happen but uh it's it's pretty well i mean you got to push it in the right direction yeah and it'd be like an intentional move i've been playing it i have not bumped it and had any issues with that so i thought that'd be a problem yeah so character creation this is really cool i wanted to highlight that for sure okay cool so um i think oh the other thing i have is a d20 so that completely place up here and then we have ready actions because we're playing two three sorry two player we do have three actions each and then we have a bunch of these cubes so they'll just go here for now um but they do they do replace on the board oh i actually do have one more i have a kit i do have a magic a medical kit that i can use so i'll put that on the board i'll put that in on my belt okay cool so my character's set up that's kind of how it works now i also want to show how this works when you don't have it set up and when you have a step in advance so kim over here has hers and his fancy dancy look at this little packet where where's the camera that way it's fancy so you did all this pregame did this pretty game because we talked about what you wanted to build well i just said i'm an elf and i'm a ranger and then you're like got it okay so yeah so i slide everything out and then i really don't understand films i don't know how cameras work yeah so it's all set up nicely tucked away you can have that thank you okay i'm gonna let you well i didn't also didn't show one other thing to the uh the skill tree that's in there too okay well do you want to show where do you want to be yeah you can take it out so the other thing is each character does also have a skill tree um i tucked it underneath things because i needed a little more space because we are kind of crammed in a little bit here so so here is the skill tree it is also a triple layer board so you can push these down and lift them up to unlock things so i won't go through the details here but each character has their own skill tree and own unlocking path so right for this playthrough i'm just gonna keep it tucked underneath this character board because you really don't need it until you start leveling up i found so i'm going to keep it down here okay so ken let's go back to her so you've got your boards are set up yep and so you can take this and you can tuck underneath one of your boards if you want but you can see that that all fit within her envelope my fancy box yeah and so really all you need to do at this point is take your wooden cubes and put them on the board at this point all right so you took all the thinking out so i appreciate that all right put my little cubes on and dice go there i have my three ready points that go there and all these cubes go over here and that's it ready to go yeah so that is that is the set for the scan so todd's asking do you start with any stat upgrades oh good question um do you do not start with stat upgrades in this game well sorry you start with what's predefined for you so if i come here look at this card um on this card as soon as it focuses here let me fix it real quick oh thank you what nope i'm just reading you doing your thing okay so what that does is it tells you exactly what you start with so i'm gonna start with um hp magnet and a special you don't start with any actually i did forget one thing you start with these um these stats down here this is what just talked about yeah yep so you start with those at level three two and three and i start automatically with level one decks level one wisdom and a level one charisma okay and pumpkin head i agree it is totally legolas i didn't even notice that it is like a lesson all right all right he was so dreamy that came out in high school for me and that was fabulous okay i'm glad glad you're having fun with that okay so what that means is well i'm gonna put my decks on my own folks in my world yeah man that's up here david's question do i miss that what do you have a question was it um if stats are adjusted by the starting race or by profession they are adjusted by your starting race that's how it works yep how does this how's the question here um how's the store mid session to complete the session another time or two not meant to be split sessions so how it works is and we'll get through this as we play you can save the game um when you go to town that's the save point and so then it you basically take off all the wood pieces the dice and the token and the the cubes and everything else slides into that envelope and it gets tucked away it's actually pretty easy question can you raise the x's on the start curve is that car for replayability no those are printed on there which you can do is put a sleeve in there to to write on it and these are just this is just keeping your track your starting ability so you just couldn't be on the right hand side yeah good question so cool okay so that is set up for the game oh do you don't have your starting stats do you i think i do that for you today not a perfect setup i know i forgot you have what dexterity um intelligence and what else i don't know where you're looking wisdom okay wisdom okay i forgot to set that up for you level one two oh level ones level okay so that is the loving up stuff that's how you create your character so i've got my character set up right here ready to go oh i do actually start with a cube on this reaction as well so these cubes are multi-use they're used for a lot of different things so okay that is enough for head yeah very true okay yeah i make things harder i know i not made this one harder yet so so there was a little back and forth about which hand the bow and the quiver should be in does that matter which hand stuff is in it does not really i'm just messing again because it's like oh your left arm got chopped off you lost that that doesn't happen no okay you're fine i'm gonna leave the quiver uh yeah i was gonna cover it's cool okay cool so let's go back to the event card so here's the event card uh we finished that on the bottom it says to flip it over so let's flip it over and see what happens it says here each year emissaries are dispatched throughout iridia distributing useless wooden coins to the local inhabitants these coins called squills hold no value but they are the only way for the banish to receive a pardon excels must prove their worth collect the most squeals by harvest and you can return home you won't be alone in the hunt other exiles will be competing for pardons as well the laws stipulate that exiles must or may band together and parties no more than four pulling resources to gain a group pardon you think it's time to size up for the competition and maybe find some allies okay so we're ready to start the game we did the creation so the this tells us what to do next it says flip hex e2 i'll show this in a second and then we're going to draw a big tile and then this icon down here this then banish this card banished means uh this card is going to be removed for the for the whole campaign we're not going to reference it anymore and the nice thing about that is uh let's see it does come with a really nice tray with all these nice dividers in it let's angle it up a little bit as you can see and so the band's cards just go in the back it makes it really easy to keep track of all these cards okay so what does the hex mean so kim i'm gonna have you do that that's on the world map you find hex uh e2 uh it should be that one is that e2 yes yeah okay flip that one over oh flip it over just put it right back down actually hand it to me i can just do a nice zoom in for people so here's what it looks like those hexes that you look close it's got e2 in the corner it's got some icons around it that's how you do movement and has has things you can do on it so it says big zero is when you zoom into that spot that's the location i'm gonna grab uh poi one pointy matches one we have something else we examined but we're not gonna work with that yet but that is gonna be on the map in that location oh let's point out too if you notice that underneath that it's got it's actually got a divider in here so it's actually triple layered so you push on one end pops it over flip it over and stick it back in and it's really slick how that works they did a fantastic job so that's easy to get in and out yeah real easy yep i've moved this all around that's okay and then go ahead take that black marker and put it onto the cam that is our party token that is where we are also these are just for coolsies those are the miniatures we get so when you build your character the other thing you get to do is you do have a base for this is the cleric base and you get a head so here's the hobbit head to create the manager you actually stick the head in there and now i've got my custom manager i'm glad you said that because i thought i had broken it [Laughter] but i didn't say anything so yeah yeah so here's kim's elf ranger aka legolas so it's very very cool do you do anything in advance to prep the path treasure chest uh no you do not uh i can show you those briefly so if you don't mind uh don't open the box when you not hand me one of those boxes over there um actually tell me one of the other ones that's the basic one sorry so what he's talking about here is there's these treasure chests um and let me zoom in a little bit so here's the path one so each class has their own specific treasure items they get they specialize for that class i won't open this up so leave this thing secret but i will show you that there are stuff in here so so the minis are this tall oh yeah okay so that is it let's dive into it so remember it said that we have to dive into um big zero so in the game there are these giant envelopes and so here's his big so in here it's got dividers as well i'm gonna grab zero and we're going to look at what it is as we zoom in on the board so there's some really really nice artwork on here um there's also a description so let's look at the description together real fast so the description here says exiles camp um threat bear tents stand here flaps swaying lightly in the breeze as you draw nearer the din of the camp washes over you voices buzz in excitement swords clang in practice and as you approach a mustache man uh beckons you okay so the other side of that is the board so we're gonna start on the board here i just see pablo thanks for the sub oh yeah thanks what's up guys let me zoom in here so we will put the board right here okay so here is the board and you can see that there is a icon down here says hex e2 this is how you leave this area to go back to the world map and then from here we can explore the area now there is an event here so we'll put an event token on it and there's an npc here so this is someone you can talk to there's also some place up here to explore medium zero so if we go over there we can then grab a new tile and see what else is around there are lines on the board to indicate what type of train that is as we move around single line terrain single dash is normal double lines a little bit harder to move through and then there's solid lines which you can't move or see through and then black dash lines up block line of sight so there's all sorts of line sight rules okay cool okay so we did that we place our minis on the entryway down here and then because we are in adventure mode we can start playing now how it works in adventure mode is we don't need to worry about actions in our movement speed because presumably we have we're not pressed for time we can go wherever you want now at some point later this might turn to combat mode we actually have combat on the same map but we won't get to that yet because there's no bad guys on this right now good so let's go shopping and do something let's go do something okay so i recommend that we go talk to the man if you would like to lead the way you wanna do it i'll talk to the man go ahead how are you doing good move up to npc zero have to be next to him someplace is that this no next to him how many movement does it matter it doesn't matter because we have infinite move because we have we're not pressed for time yeah you did just say that did you say that yes so in the game there's a bunch of and i'll just show you a little bit of the card here so if you see here mp0a this is the character i need to i need to grab and here is the guild master so i'm gonna hide some of this so you can't quite see it um sorry my son's talking what do you want buddy so this is the guild leader fades and tells you a little bit about his this is how you do some rpg so this is the um his demeanor and then kind of like what's going on with him so he is a weather baron man stands here warming his hands by the fire then there is some dialogue behind underneath here and some choices so i'm gonna read this to kim and i'm gonna have her make make some choices so after all that training the day has arrived time to get out there and do the guild proud if you want a little warm-up before you go hunting squeals you can fight the practice dummy one more time let me know when you're ready to leave okay so what would you like to do what would you want to sit down oh all right where's the dummy do i talk about the dummy yeah so the interesting thing about this is on here it says practice dummy i flip the card over the other side it actually sews i'll practice dummy so i'll read that text because i can't just tell them where to go okay it says i was working on a more powerful dummy one that would really challenge you but it's gone missing anyway the old one still works fine when you're ready head up to the field and i'll get you going now kim happened to uncover this immediately on these cards everyone's only come across this little symbol here a blue book this is a um role-playing point so if we go back to kim's board so on her board she has a role playing point right here and an empty slot with a plus three behind it she earned that oh wait no wait i earned that because i was role playing you happened to pick it oh i picked it you picked it yeah i'm sorry i get it um so on my board i've got a role playing point i'm gonna put a marker on top of it that is very important because um that's how you mitigate your dice rolls in the game at some point if i roll this d d20 i don't like what i get i can spend this point to add plus three to the result so you get it because you were i was role playing you were the characters and you just improved the game so much i died by your voice you love my voices yes so not really your manly women voices are amazing yeah that's something else something else for sure so that's how you that's the dice mitigation the game okay and so it's a good idea to take turns role-playing so that everyone can get a role playing point okay so looks like guys are i'm trying to keep up the chat but you guys are just going crazy right now so cody's in he can help him yeah you guys can be awesome okay so um you can ask you can keep talking um or we can we can leave too you can ask about the guild potentially maybe squirrels yeah what are squirrels things yeah squeals are small wooden coins given to the xl's in exchange for help your goal is to collect the most squeals by harvest in order to receive a pardon okay well i'm good can i you're good okay so we'll end that and then well what you do is you take these cards and you will put them back into the the [Music] deck holder so i will you actually flip the card around so you know that you've already interact with them so basically the player who's acting as the npc gets the point that's correct tavina yep yep are most maps brightly covered um colored colored yeah so far seeing pretty colored yes and i was already on it yeah all right you can get one role playing so you do take turns yep exactly okay cool so that is that's interaction with npc um so it's generally a good idea to like keep talking or try to like find those points try to keep exploring until you get those role-playing points okay so would it have been better i mean like i don't know what else i could have asked the guy it's just really whatever or is it it's whatever you want honestly and if you ask something that's not on the card there's a response for it too oh it's very open-ended playing if you don't want to play that way you can say hey which of these four things you want to talk about you play it however you want okay i just gave it open-ended to show people it's flexible for that okay so you could be like dungeons and dragons where it's totally you make up whatever you want or it could be skyrim and you here's your abc xy button selection exactly all right everyone did fine i got it so cool okay so that was it um we cannot explore until there are no tokens on the board okay it's the important important thing so we do need to go and encounter with this event so since you talked to the guy i'll head over to that event and you just have to be next to it and we'll we will reveal it so on the board it says evt 13 so i will grab that card and we'll see what it is okay so here he says um so i asked him where he got the fish the small crowd erupts with laughter as you draw near a tall man with long blonde hair is at the center of attention he eyes you cautiously as you approach we often don't see new faces where do you hail from what do you say or maybe i say it you say it so it came from uh came from the uh the shrubbery around the corner i don't know olympus or something so flip it over it says here uh yes i should have guessed by the smell more laughter the man slaps his companion on the back and they saunter off twirling the crowd begins to disperse xl's mill about tightening packs sharpening swords and preparing for the day ahead so it says game plus one and that purple simple is experience we've gained our first experience of the game and then just banish this card remove it from the game so how experience works in the game and to be kind of sassy yes that means fun so the nice the one thing i really like about this game is how experience works there is a place to hold it here so you don't mind grab a plus one xp do that and i initiated the event so i get the xp but guess what doesn't matter how xp gets earned everyone gets the same amount oh so i get one too you're getting two so you get to put xp on your board as well everyone levels up exactly the same okay so going back to our board state over here we don't have anything else on the tile so now we can continue playing so if you want we could head back this way that's boring we will obviously go explore uh what's yacht yes so would you like to head that way yeah i'll walk over there just strap my stuff this is med zero meeting yep memes are okay so go there and like before there is also a medium zero uh organization here so we will grab that and see what it says here okay practice field you see a small clearing where the ground has been well worked by exiles practicing all forms of combat all right you're next you'll walk over and take your place they start to practice dummy it wheels out from around the pond and it begins to wobble toward you start this combat on any space adjacent to the starting point x cool so what we do add that to the board and if you look there's a little arrow down here and it lines up to this arrow facing the other way and the nice thing is the artwork matches oops sorry about that let me go back over here matches so we there's an x here what do you say david had a good idea could we is checking tents for loot a thing is that a thing because that would be fun you forgot to check the times for luke and then hi dwarf i agree we should do a dnd event with uh parent that would be awesome that would be fun but um yeah that'd be awesome you can go into the tents but there's nothing to interact with there i don't know i mean oh so like really you know i'm just moving and i'm i'm partying in the tent but there's no token there right now that says do this okay yep so there's an x here we have to go next to the x so do you want to be i'll put you next to me i'll go closer to the bad guy okay up here else is monster zero so what does that mean i go grab monster zero there are a couple cards here so monster zero one dash two and two dash two these are two cards i need so if you notice there is a practice dummy there he is and you have to grab figure zero other thing that's really awesome about this game is all these menus are painted here is the miniature dummy so he is going to go um on that spot on the board right back there okay the practice dummy rolls around here making exaggerated gestures of attack and defense okay so let's flip these cards over and i'll explain how this works okay so combat is very different in this game very cool so the practice dummy over here some information one it's a mob character there are two basic types a mob is like a group of enemies or kind of like your more minions types and then you also have a boss a boss is a bigger guy generally and so there's a two basic types over here is their ai or what power they're gonna do based upon a threat level i'll show you what that means in a second um and then here's your attacks um and then the loop down here in the bottom so that i'll get to this later it's i just wanna show you what it is real quick and the important part here is the practice dummy itself interesting about this it's all about covering these tokens so there are these hit points right here so if once we fill these these circles up with all the hits it is defeated that's our goal and it's going to depend greatly about the type of weapon you have a type of attack you do so i'll i'll explain more once we start getting into that in a second so okay cool so we're there that is that guy let me grab the threat deck real quick all right guys so okay so in the game you'd also have this threat deck and this is what's going to control what the enemies do so there is a board out here and let's see what's a good place can i put it right here you can see you got yeah you guys can see that this is going to keep track of combo and threat combo is good for the heroes threat is good for the bad guys and so as we generate combo points this is a group point that we can use to power our abilities and as you spend goes down you have a max of seven the bad guys are going to get threat and that's going to control how hard they attack and if it gets to the top uh bad things happen so we want to avoid that we'll actually really can't avoid it whole lot okay but we are ready to start combat how it works is first the bad guy goes we'll draw a threat card and then one of us will go actually so flip is over in combat mode there we go okay how far how far along are you guys oh for coding oh okay keep going all right so how many cars are in each deck that requires shuffling uh there's only like 12 cars it varies honestly it varies a lot by as you progress in the game it does a lot of different stuff okay all right so the bad guy event yes the baggage goes first so we'll flip over him and it is oh my gosh starting off strong i'm a ranger i'm going to hang back and let you handle this so i'll just launch them so this is three threats so what that means we'll take this right marker and move it three up three three higher because there's no activation on here it doesn't say mob or boss or anything nothing else happens what are the labels on the right side of the combo threat meter ah good question so one of them is limit the other one is all monsters so if you get to the end for for the heroes it's just the limit it can't go any higher for the bad guys we get to the end of it all the bad guys will activate because in this game the threat deck is what controls when they activate in addition to the power levels also if you get to the end all the bad guys will increase in strength and activate so it gets pretty bad okay so that is it we drew that threat card and we moved up three that's all we need to do for the practice dummy now it is our turns so kim would you like to go or do you like me to go first you can go so i have an idea of what is going on okay oh you know what i did not even uh get my medicine back going oh well wait you haven't prepped your medicine i did not prep my medicine bag before combat what type of medic are you you just hold on my bag's not ready you're gonna have to bleed i'm sorry okay so what i'm talking about here is my ability here my prepared bandages it requires an action and a car is spending one mana and out of combat i can fill one kit with markers so what i would be doing is taking my medic medicine bag and filling this up with those see there's two squares on there fill that up with cubes i can use uh the medicine you can't right wreck on that real quick sure you messed it up i'm sorry okay fine fair enough you make games harder this is your punishment so that's right too much sauce again yes yes okay so let's talk about combat so how this works is let's zoom over to my board i have three actions to use and when you use these actions you will take these and place them on your board wherever you depending what you're going to do so if i'm going to use my staff i'll put on my staff i'm going to use my medicine pack i'll put a medicine back which i want to which i can't do exactly there if i move on my feet i will move in the game so that's how you do it uh you can also equip and unequip by putting on your hands i only have these weapons so i can't unequip so i will for my first action first my three actions i want to move because my staff is only in a melee weapon so in this game you move three spaces so i will move three you can only move orthogonally so i'm gonna move one two three and you can see here that i'm not next to next to the dummy yet okay so what i could do is i could spend another action to move closer but the other thing i can do is i have stamina i'm gonna spend one of my three stamina to get a plus two to my movement okay so i am going to then move twice right next to the dummy so now i'm there now positionally are you is there like line of sight rules so if i i don't want to you don't want to be in my way so i don't shoot you in the back no you won't hit me okay so how it works is let's look at the staff specifically so in the game you do have a bunch of cards so here's the staff i need to be basically adjacent to my target pretty straightforward and so each type of weapon i don't have another can you grab me your card over there for your bow and arrow your card um this thing no your your bows i got quivers i got hunting knives i have goodies i haven't looked at any of them i know where's your mark snipe snipe give me a sniper billy there you go perfect so just to give an example of something else a little bit different it's here for kim's sniper sniper billy she has to be three spaces away from the targets you want to do so these grids show you your positional which is positioning the game and what's the thing to the left of the grid this yeah is how you do damage i'll get to that right now okay so that's my position could i use volt um i cannot use gold vault because i don't have any combo points however every time you move you do generate one combo point so now i have one because my vault ability um it requires an action and a combo point to do it so oh i guess maybe maybe because i moved i get the comma point i'd spend immediately so yeah i could have done that i'll use my stamina anyway because i don't think i needed too much in this game for this guy i'm a little confused but keep going look confused yeah we'll yeah okay so now let's attack the bad guy so the important thing about this game is looking at how your weapons attack yeah movement is all orthogonal so here is my weapon and here is the dummy if you notice down here this this icon it's got the black arrow pointing down i have to talk from top down you have to attack from top down exactly so looking at the card i have to attack coming from this direction coming towards the top because i'm swinging down like i said this is all about natural mapping swinging down with my staff and i'm coming across so what i'm doing is coming down and then you see there's a white and a gray this is going to be a wisdom check on combat so what i'm going to do is i'm going to roll a d20 and then i'm going to add my wisdom modifier which is currently one to whatever i roll and that result is going to determine what i'm going to hit with yeah so steve was asking if i saw that right if you could put the marker on the med kit just to show how it works you know when it happens yeah with the wreck on real quick okay so i'll wreck on that i spent my um i spent my magic and i have a fully fully stock med kit monsters attacked first yes the mouse is attacked first but i drew a oh yeah so i could have used the volt after move thank you it would have been a second but it would have to be in second action yeah and the monsters attack first correct yep but in this case they just got the three threat so they didn't actually activate so okay cool so you're swinging staff so you're gonna have to hit them on the left or the right shoulder so i can choose what which of these i want to target but it has to be coming from the top so obviously i'm going to choose this top left one because if i roll well i get to do the one to the left and the one immediately to the right of it makes sense so my eyes aren't that good that's fair all right so here i'm gonna roll the dice and we'll see what i get so i have i need a ideally a 10 or higher to do really good at this so here we go roll the dice i rolled an eight eight plus one is nine so i hit just a white value notice it's white is two plus okay so i just get one damage so i can put one damage on this spot here now what i could do is i could modify that with my my role playing points and add plus three to that you want to um can you swap left to right right to left for damage yes you can you can choose what uh side you want as long as you follow the directional arrows is there a particulation with standard attack it depends on the it depends on the attack type and the card will tell you where it when the bridge is attacked from so it says do it roll okay i'd be called to do you spend my um my role playing points yeah so i'll spend that they have plus three so that's gonna hit twice where'd your plus one come from again uh my wisdom your wisdom okay whenever you check you you almost always add your wisdom result to it so okay so because i got more than ten uh how many another damage i got the gray value so i get to do the white spots and the gray spots so i come down on the left and hit top and come across now if i would go again because these are damaged i could go the next highest ones going down so i'm going to be working my way down as a deal damage okay so a lot of the game is gonna be coordinating oh yeah i've got this weapon it slices across the body uh mine comes on top cop come from the top you have to you will have to be recording to make sure you don't um you optimize your attacks cool okay so that is my first my second action sorry a second actually my first action was to move um my second action was to attack i've got one more action left over so i might as well try attacking again let's i don't think there's anything else i need to do nope let's try attacking again all right so yet again i need that um that 10 plus so let's see what happens you can you can spend the points with the bonus after rolling or do you have to decide that you can do it after i'll be after yep roll the so that's awesome another two damage please so i came down on top i passed through my damage markers and i hit the next layer because i'm hitting this spot i combo there to the right yeah so if you guys could question i'm not sure what you're talking about um but yeah let me let us know so okay so our monster now i think the question was where do you know where to stand oh yeah let's we can talk about that real quick so your attack card has the little grid on it and it shows your position so his is behind the triangle and i have to be facing towards the x oh could you physically turn your body the other way it doesn't matter it just means you just have to be next to him i have to be yeah next to him i could have been you know to the side you know because this speed turns highways that works too it doesn't matter okay so basically i need to be an action for this attack um yes weapons have multiple paths in fact kim has one that does it um i'll show you this sniper quick here's the snipe if you notice that when she hits with this she does something in the middle and dining in the two diagonal spots so you can have multiple paths and multiple ways of doing it okay oh yeah the staff stats are on the staff itself so to ask answer those questions so here's the staff itself you can see that i need a two plus to get the white and a template to get the white and the gray and i have to go from the top and go to the right so the range is one it's a handle weapon and it's a wisdom check that's how it works oh it'll catch on as you go it's an interesting idea yeah yeah okay so that is all three of my actions i am done okay so now your turns up but now we have to draw another threat card so we draw another one and it is a two okay so he's going to be up at five already is he not the five but he's not i mean is is that the bad guys they just bring up their threat until other things happen or are there other things that are going to happen in those cards other things happen those cards yep and so technically if you want i can redraw that to see what happens so well i'm sure we'll have more bad guys really maybe not yeah well we'll keep going okay i may not kill him you probably won't i don't think okay tippy has no faith in dro dar so okay again you're up so you have three actions as well okay and so just to help clarify what's going on actually you should be having you have a quiver i do have what does my quiver do don't you stick supposed to put stuff on your quiver spots so yeah so here let's look at kim's quiver real quick can you tag diagonal you cannot you have to count range uh sorry the line of sight is middle of the middle but you can't you have to count range that makes sense yeah so kim has a couple ones so she has um you should grab your quiver card if you don't mind this fancy one this fancy one yes so here's the quiver she has um you get to put a single marker on the quiver when making an attack so i'm choosing which bonus to use or which which method yep so you can choose to either get further range and hit a specific point or try to combo with this other one um and then every time you tack you can you can change it change it um yeah you basically play you're like you're like um um hawkeye pulling in different arrows right or different types of attack i'm legolas you're like yes no i'm droodar so go ahead and grab a green cube and you can pick which one you want you want to be able to pinpoint damage and shoot the longer range or do you want to hit harder um well my hits on my arrow are a 2 for a singleton or a 12 or higher 2 combo that's a pretty high roll i can do it i can do it i'm in a combo you're going to do the combo one okay so i'm second guessing myself but i already said it i'm doing it i think it's fine okay at least fine so you can try this combo one right right twice because that you maybe will kill him before he attacks that's the goal you might both do it if you roll out oh wow my green screen makes that cube see because i could do three hits this knife doesn't really help to be honest because the ability you chose and the quiver where's your quiver right here it will that it will give me two and then it'll give you i'll get you two straight down straight down okay so it'll be honestly probably even better you just to get the two you need to roll 12 plus on a dexter roll we'll see we'll see all right um okay okay so now you can do your attack attack so um well first you have to get in range you have to be more than three all right i do have to be in water sorry so i'm going to move with my feet yep says just after attack you may trigger one critical spot yeah no there's going to specific spot for that one it's just the card itself what's the critical spot again i'll show you later oh it's a different yeah so these enemies have weak spots and critical spots the critical spots are if you do a specific path you get a bonus damage an extra damage um and then a weak spot is if you hit that spot the bad guy will react in some way so um yeah are there ways to reduce threat because i saw that question and there there's there are ways to do it but not normally you have to have a power i think there's a power that lets you do it for reducing the threat that's a good question um so just so he's dead i'll straight officially but just for explanation purposes i'm gonna draw another thread card to show you what happens so here's an example of a threat card all monsters so now we would activate all the monsters what does activate mean yep and so what that means is we look at how much thought they have he has five threats saved up as they knock all the dams around and if he would go we would look at his card he would want to spend three of that threat oh okay see how it works so then he would attack the closest this means attacks closest move four and he's gonna prod for plus one damage prod means one damage normally but plus one is two and he wants to go next to you so he's gonna spend four movement to go to closest uh hero and prod for two damage okay got it and so the other thing you look at is the type of daisy roll so in this game there are dice but the enemy rolls to dice not the heroes oh sorry you're real nice to you as well but um so the in this case you'd be rolling the black dice for this there are four types of dice in the game and if you notice that these line up to the same let me move down to my character board so you see here this lines up to the same board here the same same area so i will roll this dice and the dark area is what it hits so if i if i would roll his eyes right now it would hit my right arm would you drop your staff you don't drop your staff but if you're wearing some armor there it will prevent that potentially prevent that damage oh you need a right shoulder pad yes exactly and each of these colors target different areas so like the yellow one targets like your lower area your legs and your hands um there's targeted arms and this targets your head so i think black is like the center area so and yes that icon means closest the other icon here means furthest away so the nice thing about this is you know i like sword and sorcery so much because they tag not just the closest but the furthest one away well yeah there's different scenarios that the card triggers right so they i'm so glad that cody and team did this detect the farthest as well yes yes so in this case so just for example if you attack and then like i said it would if you hit the middle area which let's say if i rolled a center here i actually have armor in that spot so my armor if you look at this has a defensive one so i would prevent one of that two damage coming at me and then it has durability too so grab me an orange token and so every time i use that i put a durability token on it once i put two tokens on it because it's got two down here can no longer use it again until i repair this oh so the the gold robe is just shattered it's not hard it is torn so yeah it's not very yeah not very good role so that's how the bad guys work just so hopefully so the first bad guy card you drew was a three threat had the second one been this all monster card correct he still would have attacked full force because he had enough three but if for example he had no threat and you had drawn this card yes you would have done the top attack yes which is attacked the closest yep move forward yep attack product attack which is his um one yeah one damage damage and plus two what is that symbol plus two threats threat oh so then he's just building his threat up exactly okay that's cool yep so yeah all different types of tags all different approaches how it works but anyway that's how he would have worked but kim you got the beat on the guy took him out judah if armor needs repair regular repair i hope you can earn enough loot to keep it fixed as the campaign goes on yes there's also areas you can do for free and i'll show you that a little bit later so depending on where you are it might cost different amounts so in the world okay so that is it and we look at the bottom the loot here for killing him is one experience so we both get one experience okay where does that happen that happens right here in the purple spot so if you don't know what i'm grabbing one experience for both of us and we are leveling up when this gets full don't forget to fill your med kit oh yeah my bed kit is full actually it's uh i actually have two cubes on it so i can use them to heal but right now um we're full health so we're not more bad so this bad guy card is gone that cube of mine does that go back in my stash yeah well you know it goes back on your board for generic use so yeah that bad guy is destroyed back in after combat you can't heal after combat uh so healing is let me show you how that works um it depends what you have so to to heal i'll show you what my kit does since you're asking about that i need to take an action to do a wisdom check on a two plus i'll heal two and a eight plus i'll heal three okay and i can choose myself or someone else to heal and because i have two cubes on it i can use it twice before i have to recharge it okay so okay if someone takes arrest action doesn't mean the enemy's game or threat i'm sorry russ actions can only be taken um outside of combat it's a specific specific action in town and right now we're not in town we're kind of exploring the neighboring areas well i'll show you exactly where that will be done later like on the board there's this combat uh point saved up then you don't have to worry about it oh yeah so you can doesn't matter what you ask you can't get can't stockpile them so let's do the let's do the good one real quick um level up spend um experience to level up so and we can only go to max level four right now if you look at our cards we're at level zero to level up to level one we need three experience and guess what we have boom three experience oh and we do have to remember to read our key cards yes okay so let's go and spend our experience and level up and we'll explain what that means can the quiver go in the inventory yeah i mean you could put it away in inventory um the problem is you can't use in combat anything in your inventory you have to re-equip it yes so it's not a wise idea to do that but i mean you could do it i mean maybe maybe at one point i'll have so much awesome gear that i just won't know what to choose all right so how when you level up um you will mark this on top here on level one and so we will get these markers level one tokens so you can take that and i'll take one as well and these go right here level one to keep track we're level one okay and um so you were saying like on the card if you really wanted you could mark yes you could the card but i like your idea of you should put it in a clear sleeve and then it was like that's easy yeah okay all right so now every time we level up we check one in this grouping and one in this grouping so right now i can check magic hp or or stamina and then wherever i check doesn't matter what i have checked before it i will get that value so what that means is let's say for example i was level four and i was checking one of these boxes i could have checked nothing before this if i checked this seven up here my head points at seven so only yeah it only matters the current one you check the furthest one along then so so i could slowly build up you know hit points but then suddenly be like boom i'm super speed yes okay you could do that yep so right now i could check one of those i am going to choose um magic to make sure i can have us healed i want to make sure i can really make sure i have that available to us um i'll put it in my other hand can you get me trapped by the quiver there it should be on my back yes okay so i'm going to upgrade my magic um as one of them and then i also choose one of these down here so likewise as before um you can put a marker on these and then and increase one of those so i need i need i have my wisdom already um i might choose what do you want to choose here i yeah i'm not really thinking about what i need here so i'm going to choose uh endurance i guess just because i can wait cody says it's a special item that has special rules that can be in your inventory are we talking about the question oh the quiver can be is that did i catch that right cody maybe let's um what does it say in the card oh you know the other thing reading is good the other oh the other thing is um i don't read cards very well um oh yeah he does say that yes it says right here are special they can be equipped by keeping their inventory so it does take two spots of the four in my inventory it does i'm going to put it over there because i feel like that is more appropriate like everyone keeps saying you don't want me to go like wait wait wait let me get my boat i'm not a quick shot oh we're awkward but yes that's a good call thank you we totally read cards read the cards okay so i'm gonna choose i'm gonna choose endurance on mine endurance two so i get to put on my card your endurance two right down here so my endurance is a little higher for my check cool okay so the other thing you do is every time you level up you do get another skill so let's look at that real quick so here is the skills i can pick from um this is another triple a board as before and how it works is you must pick skills that follow the path where is my here this might be easy to see on this card here so this is on the back of my my class card tells me the different paths you can pick and what they kind of mean uh but on the other side here it tells me um what i have already prepared bandages and vault and then from there i can choose a couple options so i can choose anything that's a starting point but i do have to follow the path so i can't choose buying wounds because i need bomb before that and before that i need to prepare bandages but i could choose form up because nothing's in front of it and so and so forth so you do have to follow that path yeah what does endurance change now it's uh now it's two just for endurance checks i could roll it endurance is useful for if you do you do get knocked out you could stand back up for a moment so i did that just in case i would get knocked out i'm the healer i'd like to be able to stand up and then potentially heal myself or someone else in a pinch so okay so i need to pick a level up marker or token i want to do so i will choose um let's see i will choose can i choose this one i don't think i can oh i can't do this one okay i'm gonna choose pummel i think i have that card i do not have that card okay i'm gonna choose a different card then so this is a prototype so i don't have everything here um so i will choose a different one i'm going to choose formula because i know that one that has a card to it okay so i can choose this one and now look i get it but i don't unlock it what i do is i i know about it but i can't use it on my board i will then place it into one of my available skills and then in order to use it i need to unlock it which means i need to spend four combo at some point if i spend four combo i can flip this over i get the ability this form of capability is how it works so right now so the cool thing is even though you level up you don't automatically get the stuff ready yes are the skills all unique to the path yes i don't think i've seen any skills or duplicates yeah my board is very different from yours yeah it's very different yeah i i don't know if i could pick pummel i i would like to pick pummel but i don't think i don't have the card for it so i just want to make sure i got the right stuff if the damage dies getting graded will they also be tested to make sure it doesn't favor yeah i'm sure they will any questions okay okay so sorry our son was talking to me for the bulk of that yes so you picked you get a picture i don't know um so i can pick one of the three main ones or also one of these each one of each okay and in a level as well for you and a little i am going to um i want to increase my [Music] speed okay if you do it's still four no goes to four you're right it goes to four yep yep that's fine okay and then i will also i feel like maybe my intelligence needs a little extra boost okay you do that you can't touch it too all right um is that you flip it over right yeah i can flip it over or i could do dexterity no intelligence because you don't have any i'm not very smart so i will be that for the squad okay i need you to pick a power um and then my powers are neatly under here let me see what cards i have oh i see ricochet right off the bat she harm's way um i could move six spaces and one turn to unlock it you have a lot of endurance you can do it yeah okay let me make sure i don't fire arrow yep but you need to do roll first that's why i said do you roll oh because it it says oh oh oh i see what's uh yeah good call modi cody this is all prototype to change so i have to be healed to be a cook yeah you do gotta be a cook oh this will let me heal but we already i already have healing stuff and you have your magic okay i'm gonna i'm gonna do so i can get fire arrows yep so put that on your board all right perfect and you can see that this is now checked off so cool that is leveling up um that was our guild action so now let's do the camp actions rest so let's replenish all our health can i tumble magic i don't think i don't think you tumble i'm gonna say i can tumble and these don't cost any money some if you go to other places they might cost money may cause all the resources but these are all free because this is a starting location um and then we also add a sip cube to the flask and we can also add a ration to knapsack so what that means is kim on your card you could add one token to your flask and one token to knapsack so you have right now yep right now yeah because it's free to do that so might as well do it okay so you are all leveled up i don't know i have a shield cube on your rp i just grabbed it yeah yeah perfect it's pretty we are all done that's all the action we could do here basically and where are we sorry we are in town we are at the excel camp so the town this is where you could rest and heal and this is at the point because we rested we could save the game so i would save the game but for for funsies let's show how we travel because that's the other part of the game we haven't shown yet and then after that we'll probably end it for the tutorial and we'll do a continuation video of this later forever okay and then you guys we're going to talk with cody and ira correct okay so let's do the travel action real quick is there are there dual wielding weapons i would i haven't seen any i'm sure i'm although i'm speaking for cody all right we're guessing i have no idea okay so let's go ahead and show you how we travel so if you don't mind popping out that uh token again real quick the hex i'm gonna do a close-up of it yeah because this is something that's real easy to miss so on the xl token itself if you look closely on the edges there is a green looks like flowers a road sign here and then other green flowers up here there's no icons on these sides so that those icons dictate what direction we may travel in oh because there's an ocean to the south and east yep exactly also the type of terrain you notice that there's a road on here so that's the road sign it's easy to travel by road there this is like open field so maybe a little bit harder but we can travel that way okay so right now we can choose which direction we want to travel so i'm gonna have you pick kim and then we will head that direction well i know that it was um north for one and west for another um should we follow the road you picked all right we're gonna follow the road even though i do have light foot which oh that's a combat thing it will let me move five and ignore difficult terrain so if we got okay all right following the road okay so in order to explore an unexplored tile we need to have all these flip face down these are our travel tokens i'll show you what that means a second so we're gonna travel along the road i'm gonna take the travel deck and i'll flip it with the first card so warm breeze a warm breeze comes out the west raising your spirits so if you notice here there is a bunch of icons on here two of them are visible the other ones are are grayed out the road one's grayed out if that one was visible we would have to find the uh feather token which is if you don't mind flipping over and flip that face up we would normally have to do that but because it's grayed out we don't have to do that this time now why why does that matter if we ever flip those face up it's fine for the first time if we have to flip it face up again and we cannot we all have to lose the stamina that's where it's like a pushy luck type thing in addition that there's also cards that get added into the combat deck exhaustion cards that do bad things so we have to be careful how we do that uh but for this case it was easy going we have to worry about it that we're fine and the odds of these icons popping up are roughly equivalent to the type of terrain it is you choose the road which is easy to travel along so there was a good chance we didn't draw that symbol okay make sense yeah so we're just taking a nice little stroll easy stroll so go ahead and reveal that token there's a question from shane uh can you enchant add buster weapons like poison daggers you do have poise in the game but i have not seen poison daggers um should you have this effect bumping up your weapon specifically i don't know i haven't seen that yet so go ahead and we'll put this in the middle so you can see there's the junction that they were talking about there's a junction so you see here this has icons all around it so you can go any direction you want from this point so go ahead and there's no points of interest or anything on there i corrected it you corrected what you um there it is the skills you choose can offer your weapons the rogue doesn't have poison yep there is poison so well it's true you do you do um do your skill checks right so that does not find that sense that's correct yeah yeah okay so then that's how you travel so now do we have move the party over here yep we're there and so now you we can move again if you wanted you can pick direction um what did the current say was west and then north or was it west and west i think you want to go east we want to go east yeah north east i think oh north east oh yeah because i think they were trying to get us here all right um we're going what's up it's rough it's it's gonna we're not going off the beaten path it is what fields field okay let's flip the sun the sun beats down making the tire so we do see that symbol so we do have to flip the knapsack face up which means you cannot explore a unexplored tile anymore but go ahead and flip that one face up until we flip them back face down again i'll explain a second so we found northern plains to flip these face down we need to spend stamina equal to the number of players in the game we were correct we should have gone north we went east just in circles correct west and north yeah that's right we went east oh so we want to go north again well we're just exploring around we're uh tile flipping yeah um yeah now we do have to go west because you're right both directions we're trying to get us to that tile okay had we paid better attention okay so right now because we have um we have a token flipped up we do have to uh spend some stamina to drop that down if you don't mind go ahead and spend two of your stamina and we can flip our you should be at home oh it should be at fault i wasn't paying attention yeah you have two now just spend two of your stamina okay this is two players and you can flip all those tokens face down so why did i spend it at you uh because you have more stamina than me i'm just choosing you we get a one each one doing one each yeah fine one each one each there you go okay then go ahead and explore in that top corner all right here we go okay we showed what what type of train do we go by we went through roads roads so we do have to flip this on sun okay all right here so we found a winding shore with a some type of house on it where's the house there cody's worried about everyone's seeing spoilers job i had a lot of fun watching you guys and like you're role playing and getting into the characters really oh it made me very happy as um a designer to just see you guys having fun with it so sure i i think it's very interesting how on the npc's you made it so easy to roleplay too like i don't do the best voices but i still try i have fun with it right and the fact that like oh here's his demeanor here's the setting here's what he's going to say it's just right there in front of you it's so easy to do so awesome i'm glad you felt like that that was something that like we really spent a lot of time iterating on and trying to make it like how can we bring people into role-playing as seamlessly as possible without making them feel like forced to do anything so i'm glad you guys liked it right uh so let me get out of just a couple of a couple of keywords a couple of sentences right at the top oh right correct correct yeah that worked out really well um yes dan says are you a very good deep voice character yeah that's why you go to i feel like i can do a deep voice while i don't do the growth voice but uh yeah i'm thankful for that okay so kim's back she had to take a quick break and help my son because he was uh oh cody seems a bit echoey that might be on my end i apologize because i do have my speakers on and the mic here so i will try to adjust that a little bit on my end so hi kim great job i beg you so real quick kim this is your first experience with the game you really don't know much about the game because i explained a little bit overall i know nothing okay you're like we are going to just blank slate you and they're going to see like a true first go and i thoroughly enjoyed it okay so yeah is is this what at all what you expected well okay so you did say it's like a dnd board game and that i was like okay um so i didn't really know what to expect this feels more like skyrimmy to me because of the location stuff but the character build structure is really cool i like i love rpgs and just building characters up so this is right up my alley awesome is this a game you would like to purchase oh see this is where he's asking for permission to spend money it's recorded yes yeah no this would be good this would be cool yeah or you just ask for uh has a question right not sure if this has been covered without being too spoily roughly how many npcs pop up in the game um how many npcs are in the game so uh we have oh man so many npcs there's hundreds of npc cards um but that doesn't mean some of those are like state changes so i actually don't have the current count of npcs but it's a lot so a ton yeah infinite numbers not an infinite number but enough i think because there's so much more like you're right this was a really big tease you know so i mean we have more components we could play more unless you want to wait right now you want to play no so yeah yeah i think um design's really cool i love the you know your minis are really cool and painted and the heads purposefully come off so you can change them um yeah the artwork's very nice it's clean the um the boards where they snap in place and like every it's very 5s which hi guys oh my gosh it's getting very work i don't know it's work but it it's pretty it's nice and organized i like that oh thank you so i'll make one comment here when i first heard about the game having a d20 in there i'm not a big fan of massive dice probabilities and swings in it like i like having a calculated known ability i don't want to have like oh you have to roll a 16 to hit and i roll less than that i don't you know not a big fan of that i've been very surprised pleasantly surprised that even with a d20 with a huge range on it that i feel like there's a lot of times where i hit how frequently like you saw the attacks right two plus like unless you roll one which could happen or you could roll a three or a three but like there's ways to mitigate that especially with the role playing points and other things in the game that it's never once bothered me i can say that because normally yeah and for for my part we really wanted to design with one hand on like nostalgia rpgs of our childhood and another hand on like modern game design and so having the d20 in there feels so important as a touch piece for childhood and then having mechanics around it to mitigate it and make it fun to roll for a modern sensible taste in gaming um was a real challenge but i'm very happy with how it feels yeah very cool yeah question can i talk about that one of them here is from stephen he says are the bases from the miniatures going to remain black yes they're going to be black we have um bass snaps that we can use to color and also acrylic bases like clear ones which i think i saw him asking about earlier is not part of our manufacturing process at this point and we're pretty far along with the design of all this stuff like years in the making so would be hard to change right now cool um next point is from chris he says is there an overall story or does each character have its own story um there is an overall story and characters have um some of their own personal stories so both both cool would that tie into like these key cards so your stories would change depending on what cards you're getting throughout the the overarching story um i guess we'll see [Laughter] good answer good answer um okay so let's see a lot of questions here it says uh each says how long is the session from one state to the next does it take longer later in the game ira do you want to jump in oh yeah i i um answered in chat but yeah we think you know we're targeting between one and two hours per session and we don't think it will change depending on where and yeah we've tried to make saving as seamless as possible okay yeah sorry guys well it might have been flipped there but yeah i think you didn't answer that one two three hours yep and i feel like in this game if you want to play it shorter too it's possible depending on where you are in the map that you could go out and do something and try to make it back quickly right yeah there's a point we could have just sprinted to something came back or we didn't have to ask the guys all the questions and we've just been like you know yeah there's ways around it so yeah and also um if you're in the middle of exploring a location so if you've discovered a new location and you're in the middle of exploring it um you could leave that location before you've finished it and um when you would put those cards back into the index instead of putting the ones that you've already like cleared if you you would put them back in face up in the index to show that you've already cleared those areas so events and monsters on areas that you've already cleared wouldn't be there the next time so pretty easy to stop and save almost whenever you want okay here's a comment earlier says from david says comment earlier that the base box would world only represents one-eighth of the world is that correct does that mean cody has a lot more material for expansions if this does well that'd be awesome um yeah so i was asked previously like do you have other ideas and originally this started out as a dnd campaign i was making for my friends and i made a world and i was like all right we're going to visit nine different regions and i have them all laid out and then um i started making iridia and i wanted to have all of those and the amount that i wanted to do in just one of those became its own game so i don't have eight more iridius ready i just have ideas for regions so fair enough fair enough yeah yeah this has so much stuff in it um it's not it is not one-eighth of a thing it's a whole campaign so on that point too um of the prototype you sent out here um about how much of the content are we seeing in this just curiously like what percentage ira what do you think i'm terrible at this kind of stuff i'd i'd give it five to ten percent of all the things that you have with with you not not everything that was just shown was just the tutorial um as a ballpark i mean can we talk cody about that we say the number of locations right there are 40 yeah yeah location so you saw one today right in the tutorial there was one location and there are 45 in the game so yeah i guess that's that's a lot less yeah and i think in the in there you have i think four locations we sent you something like something like that yeah i like so i played this ten percent three times now and there's still a lot i haven't seen in the prototype so that paints a picture for everyone how much is in this game so that was a question i was thinking about was like how replayable is this overall because you've seen the cards right but you're saying that it's still fresh because you have different characters you can make different decisions or correct okay i i know it's coming because i've played it multiple times but even with the same characters so i've played i played the thief one the shadow path i played the cleric one and i think i played yours a little bit as well i haven't played the warrior one yet uh so i played a little bit a little bit of them but um at least for me knowing what's coming i still i find enjoyment in the combination of the class and the species combining those two like like when i did the i did something weird i tried dwarf with the shadow class which is a weird combination and i noticed that because of the dwarf's magic ability and kind of how i want to build the shadow class it made it tougher i did like change my strategy so already out of the gate based upon that combination i saw some different different opportunities to play differently so while you do know it's coming unless you have a memory like a goldfish which i honestly like after a year i probably forget everything happened to the game it'd be fresh for me but even then there's still replayability in my opinion okay because yeah we have we have an faq entry on the kickstarter page talking about replayability i think there are a lot of ways of thinking about it um and i think particularly because each of the classes have their own um loot box that is custom to that um you know class and so much of the game like is really fun to get loot and equip your character and all that like that is completely um specific per class so if you're playing a different class you're gonna have a totally different loot experience throughout plus all the skill trees are unique so all of your skills are going to be different and then on top of all that i think the permutations of one class with another class you know even if you're playing warrior both games the warrior cleric combined with the warrior you know whatever the other you know warrior rogue like those are going to be different play experiences as well yep so those are some thoughts on replayability but this is the box she's talking about where there's chess in here with goodies inside there's basic ones and there's one specific to each class yeah and also um so the prototype we sent you only has four classes but um the game that we're going to ship out will have six two that we have not revealed yet on the kickstarter page which will be coming over the course of the campaign we're gonna show those off and so even if you play a full four player party for the whole campaign you will still have two brand new fresh classes if you wanted to replay it so yeah um let's see uh high dwarf has a question says here are there different endings or branching paths in the story to make for more replayability um we're not talking too much about like past the tutorial but um yes you can make choices that um will have consequences and you could make a different choice the next time you went through and there will be enough of them that while you will be able to experience a lot of the content you also will not experience a lot of the content so i mean that's the thing that's interesting because even the world map like there's technically nothing stopping me from going wherever i want right now it might not be wise but i could do that yeah and i mean i don't know about you but like i've replayed the beginning of skyrim so many times with new characters and i head in a different direction and i'm like this time i'm gonna you know do x or y first and that still feels fun so yep for sure uh let's see i'm trying to think about the questions we have here chris has a question did you pull all the items out of a chest and want to replay how do you know what items go back in the chest that we can show um let's see what's going to be showing that so my close-up camera yeah plus camera still on so here is this is this is not spoilery because this is the starting equipment so the starter coin for the cleric on the back side of it it does have some nice flavor text does have the cost of it because you can sell it big thing it says down here cll clearer class set zero so i know it's the starting set so you can look at those two indicators try to figure out where they go okay that's pretty easy cool and we'll have a full um in the rulebook it'll have a full like how to reset your game section and we'll go through all of that in detail so awesome shane has a question says is there an ability to kill or attack npcs example attack an npc to steal from them um that was something that i had worked on in the initial design but over the course of designing i felt like this is a story that i really want to tell about good characters and so um no you you unless unless there's some um story beats that we want to you can't just randomly kill people sorry murder yeah shane has another question here could you finish the game in normal mode and keep the skills gain and play again in hard mode um that's not something i've designed but you can do whatever you want with the board game i am going to start with full armor just dive in there grab all the good stuff right at the beginning and there you go no it is it's not part of the design intent so but cody i do think we could say something that you know we have ideas for replayability after you complete a campaign to be able to play again in hard mode um we have ideas for allowing players to tune the difficulty or maybe easy mode if you want to play in easy mode um so so because of the way the systems are designed it's going to be relatively easy to give players some um knobs to turn that that will make it um hopefully pro you know a fun balance for them particularly if they're playing again they want it to be hard we have we have plenty of ways to make it hard oh man we can make it very hard yeah that's good because i like to house rule games to make my partners you know yes you do so rockbuster sword and sorcery oh my gosh yeah so many um let's see if there's any questions are coming up here um yeah we're not mentioning the key cards we talk about the chess yep uh one question that came up was let's see where's that steven says is 40 hours of gameplay including exploring everything or is that one campaign run through and it looks like i already might have answered that already so good job sorry i was jumping into chat a little bit too maybe i shouldn't be good geez uh yeah yeah i mean the the answer that i gave to that um was we you know rough estimate 40 hours for one campaign play through if you replay it it'll be more obviously 40 hours per campaign run through cool awesome um maverick has a question he says are common currently there is a dark-skinned male human will there be a light skinned version um i guess we'll have to see on the kickstarter page i like dragons coming here uh hardcore mode zero hp your character dies start over actually that's that's something that you want to bring up because we didn't see character death so in this game if you get knocked down to zero hp you are considered knocked out right and so uh when your turn comes around again you have the opportunity to spend a stamina point to do a endurance 10 check if you succeed at that you will stand back up and take your turn normally but you still have zero hp which means at the end that turn you will fall back over so you get like this storage adrenaline stand up fight again and to fall back over it's fine it's just a scratch it's just a flesh wound so uh what's that that was pretty cool and you could try that a few times through the play um and i know just a quick disclaimer i know code and we talked about specifically that some of these things aren't tweaking that one might might be tweaked as well but uh long story short as we talked about it sounds i'm pretty adverse to player elimination and seeing how there's opportunities to avoid that makes me very happy and we also i mean cody and i talked a lot about making the cleric and other you know anybody who has sort of healing abilities feel significant and as someone who in a lot of my games wants to play a healer character like um if if you have other players who are down and it really matters that they're down then healing really matters also so this is one of the ways that we make healing significant in the game and also to the point about the sort of the um adrenaline surge to stand up when you're at zero hit points that's also um significant for solo play because the combat you you lose the combat if everybody is knocked out at the end of a player turn so what that means is if you're a solo player and you're at zero hit points you have a chance to stand up heal yourself and then continue on so that's you know if somebody asked earlier you know can you play true solo where you're by yourself and and the answer is yes and there are various mechanics that are supporting that sort of play style and this is just one example all the players are wiped and we have a mechanic that um right now you would draw event 999 and uh you will read that and see what happens and i'm not going to spoil that for you but um it doesn't mean your campaign is completely over or anything like that so great uh chris had a question serious how do you change the game difficulty can be changed mid game i know we talked about game difficulty earlier but uh the mid game comment is new i think yeah um so as far as ira had um spoke to we have a lot of different variables that we can play with right now we haven't locked in exactly which one we want to use for our difficulty tuning as far as like easy medium hard difficulty so you notice the threat cards in the game that activate the monsters one variable we have would be to add in more monster activations for example so that's that's just one of many options we have but yeah if if we whatever solution we have you could do it mid game too that should be totally fine uh steven the question says will this come to retail the price seems to be difficult one for retail dispute distribution um similar to xayah we're going to be selling directly so usually we'll when we do a print run on kickstarter we'll order some extra copies in order for far-off games to be able to sell them throughout the year until the next sprint run those have with xayah those have sold out very quickly um since we're not in like traditional retail because of the very low margins and the very high um production costs most retailers go wow why would i do that and so so that's so if you if you for sure want a copy um i would go with a kickstarter okay as stewie dark has a com question about when you put stuff back in tuck boxes do they all little pieces stay in place or in the boards so that one we can actually show a little bit here so um so here's my level board and here's the other character board so the thing i will have to do is all these cubes i'll have to pull off right those won't fit um and this board here i'll have to pull off my my tokens here my my markers and the dice of course but after i pull all stuff off i'm lucky stuck with this and that is part of the reason why my understanding is why you can only save during a rest part spot because that replenishes your health stamina and magic so you don't have to worry about where it's placed back on the board so you should be good to go after you tuck this away pull back off these things i mean the items might slide around a little bit here but otherwise everything else stays in place it's pretty secure yep and and they really only slide around at the very early game um when you don't have enough armor get more armor these congo's weak [Laughter] yep good question uh let's see uh what else coach we have here we got a lot of stuff here um oh yeah big comment but like just want to say i'm glad there's not an app game thank you yeah that was something that we had talked about and a lot of people had suggested using an app um i personally really want this game to be something that if you found a copy of this a hundred years later you just open it up and play it like this is amazing so everything you need is in the box awesome michael's the question here is is there only one ai deck or does that change as the campaign goes on yep um iran wants to say something go ahead well i answered it in chat which is that there's one there's one threat deck which has the threat cards and that can certainly change um over the campaign that's easy to do and also what one monster does for the cost of one threat is totally different than what any other monster will do for the cost of one threat so even if the the threat deck is totally the same like the behaviors that the monsters do or enemies whoever they are like those that total that totally varies yes for sure um let's see uh dave is asking whether it be templates so you can make their own monsters locations and npcs so some help then fan services that is so with um our first game xayah that's something that i really have enjoyed over the years and tried to support as best we can the modding community the community created um content that's something that i'm very passionate about and love and um wow it wouldn't be cool to do your own mini campaigns or something like that and so i think um as a creator you can look at iridia and see it as very fertile ground and so we will see okay cool um yeah because i agree with this comment i have to ask you real quick too it says it's not an adventure if there's no dragons we cannot nudge you don't answer that question but [Laughter] so um i think that's pretty much all the questions i'm seeing here i might have missed a few i apologize for that um you have anything else you want to add no i want to play more yeah i'm glad i was i was sure what you think of this because yeah because one one thing you said before we started he's like i don't know if you're going to like this game well i don't know where you were i said i think you're gonna like it but i'm not positive
