Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
People keep asking me why I hold this company. Well itβs because Karp reminds me of the Oasis creator from Ready Player One. Thatβs enough for me.
It's amazing how much better Karp has gotten at public speaking.
It's been long controversial over Palantir's real identity and I see still many doubters in the comments on the interview. Ironically I am so grateful to them for shorting or suppressing the stock prices allowing me still chances to accumulate it. I've been putting about 350 dollars(all my savings) aside out of my salary to buy Palantir's stock in the last 2 years and I've never been more convinced than now watching this interview. I wish you are all gonna be victorious at the end of this tunnel soon. By the way, Palantir is one of the most-bought stocks by individual investors in South Korea.
I like his attitude: βFine, donβt use Palantir, your competitor willβ And I like his hair: giving off a Doc Brown on acid vibe.
6:19 - The Bear Cave
"The Bear Cave believes Palantir is an AI imposter engaging in spurious games to inflate its books and obfuscate its less sexy role as an overhyped data consultant"
Karp doesn't really refute this, but just says that Palantir has the best stuff out there.
I mean, not going to lie, it's pretty good. But "overhyped data consultant" is a bit unfair, using a Casino Royale reference here, but "There are data consultants and there are data consultants", Palantir is the latter.
If you want a better analogy, you can look at pop culture and A Wrinkle in Time. Without Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which who acts as the guides for Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin. Without their help, they'd never have been able to understand the frequency for travel. Likewise, when entering Camazotz, the three Mrs are unable to follow along because they are limited to where there is light.
Similar to trying to solve big data problems. W/o the intelligence, there's no way to move up/down, forward, backward, or pivot from side to side. AI alone won't solve problems by itself, and for a long time to come, it's going to be the interaction layer, between humans and the chosen medium. Whether that be an intel platform directing drones gather asset data or for targeting and subsequently assigning resources to placate them.
However you perform work, you might have a goal in mind, but you'll still need someone to help guide AI into getting there. With the advancement of LLMs, this makes it much easier to build and train analytical models. Anyone with experience in generative AI understands that training will always be needed, but a lot of the times, the interfaces get in the way, but once you train a specific AI model to do something, imagine instead of one picasso, but a limitless number of these artists.
Instead of one magician of surgery, you'll have thousands being able to perform the most complex surgeries ever.
The problem w/ the Bear Cave is that they're framing this disingenuously and without nuance, whereas Karp deflects because calling out the critics solves nothing. A bit of a red herring on an otherwise fun interview.
Holy shit - Karp is leveling up on the publicβs speaking. Looking forward to the future.
Papa Karp has never been so bullish.
Starting at 4:20 Lol at the bar example..
All of it.
