But after Alice, Herman's boyfriend, was arrested, people on her Santa Cruz paddling team are talking about this tragic turn of events. >> We are a family, which is why it's so devastating to us as a community. >> 61 year old Alice Alex Herman was not just a neuroscientist with a degree from Caltech, but she also competed with outrigger Santa Cruz, a canoe paddling group for people of all ages. Herman was last seen with her paddling team on December 3rd, and after missing a flight to Hawaii nine days later, she was reported missing by her family. >> I was not there that last day, she paddled on the third, but everybody said that she was excited for upcoming trip to Hawaii and she was in a great mood and happy. And that's how I remember her. Is smiley. >> Herman's car was found in El Cerrito in front of her boyfriend's house. 54 year old Theobald Lengyel, also known as Milo Stone, who's now in police custody. Capitola police released a statement saying in part, as the investigation progressed, it became clear that foul play was involved, leading to the identification of Theobald Lengyel as a suspect. The investigation led investigators to a wooded area within Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley.
