getting to the wedding, the more we're disagreeing. - If you wanted that

harder to tell him. - Imagine marrying
someone you don't know. Everything changes once
I get married to him. - I don't know what to do,

in my wedding dress, that was the moment. The moment I was waiting
for the whole night. - When I first saw
Maria walk in the hall, my heart was beating
a little fast. I realized that,
I'm getting married! Marriage in Romani culture
is like a milestone. It shows that you're
getting older, it shows that you're a man. It's gonna be life changing. - There's a few different
stages to the ceremony. First the mother and
the father of the groom, they pick out two
people that they want to put the veil on his

to polonaise a bride. It was an honor for my
father and mother to do it. It was very very special.

she's been bought, whatever you wanna call it,
it's not about the money. The dowry is a security for
the mother and the father of the bride. If you pay for her, you
will take care of her. She's a married woman now. - It is emotional
to now know that I am married to Christian. It was more sad when
me and my father and my mother were crying. It's very hard to
leave the family. I'm not gonna see
them a whole lot. Not to be living with them,
it's hard, it's emotional. - Maria's family, they're
good, respectable people. But I guess don't

I was very excited. It was our first official time of us just being together alone. But that's pretty

about the first time, you know, we're allowed
to be with each other. Christian is the person that
I'm gonna spend forever with. That I'm gonna take care of, and that's gonna

money and finances, my advice to Josh is, don't
ever let your wife know how much you have. - I just let him know
when I want something, and I expect him
to get it for me. (upbeat guitar music) - [Josh] Come on buddy! - We're getting
married this week, and I haven't told
Josh about how bad the budget issue has gotten. Even though I have worked
it out with my dad, I still need to come
clean with Josh. I met with Daddy
the other night. And talked about the budget. And the good news is,
Daddy's gonna cover. - He was already gonna
be paying for it. - He's gonna cover
the, what I went over. - What you went over? How much over are you? - We don't need to worry
about it, he's gonna cover it. 'Cause otherwise if he--
- [Josh] Well how much more? No. - It's about $7500. The premium liquor,
the ice cream bar, the french fry bar, all the
things that I had to have, we have to pay it now. - What if your dad
wouldn't have been able to take care of it? - That wouldn't have
happened 'cause I know how my dad is, my dad
would do anything for me. It's my wedding, my Daddy's
gonna take care of it. He should have just said,
"Okay, that's fine". And that should have
been the end of it. - Once we get married,
it's gonna be me! My Daddy will take care of it. That's not reality. We're marrying our
finances together too. And every mistake she makes, is just like I'm making
that same mistake. I'm learning that she
doesn't necessarily handle her finance as well
as I'd like to see. - Daddy's gonna take care of it, and he's gonna give us

before marriage where a groom usually,
traditionally goes on a horse or an elephant, and
the family of the groom dances around and parties
before he gets married. - You said a few weeks
ago that you wanted the motorcycle and then I
think you talked to some family and then decided not to. Where is your voice in all this? - A lot of times with
wedding planning, Veeral's loyalty defaults to
his mom and sister's opinions. - My voice is that I
wanna make people happy. - But it's your wedding! I'm very insecure about
whether Veeral can prioritize his wife as his
number one, and put me first. - The wedding is
not about family, the wedding is about
the bride and groom, and what they want and
what makes them happy, and you're celebrating
our relationship! - Well, I'm celebrating our
relationship and our marriage, not the wedding. - To be arranged in
the South I think has a lot to do
with the parents. Maybe more especially
the mother. I do not think I'm difficult
as a mother-in-law. Now that's my opinion. (laughter) Meghan might have a

be five foot one, but don't underestimate her. She is very opinionated, and

something was wrong. I'm just a little disappointed. There was a little bit of

that's something that my future sister-in-law
needs to learn how to do. You can start using that

me to be traditional in certain ways, yes. They want me to be
able to cook for him. But I'm a more modern,
Eastern Indian woman. And so at times it
causes some clashes. - It's on you, Marcel, to
make this woman a chef. Because my brother
loves to eat-- - I think my in-laws are
sending me a very like, not subtle hint right now. - [Payel] It is so not subtle! - In the Indian culture, a
traditional arranged marriage, Indian women are expected
to be able to cook. And I can't cook worth anything. This is the kind oessure
that is on Indian women. - [Marcel] This is
for you, my dear. - Focus!

- [Ragini] Oh! - She doesn't know how
to cut a floret, so... - No but do you have

married, as a woman, you know it is basically

where my clothes are, where everything of

trying really hard to you know, make
everything perfect for him, you know, pack everything right. It's nerve-wracking,
it's very nervousing. - Did we leave anything? - We didn't forget anything. So I learned that

and I'll be there ♪ (relaxed country music) - My hopes for Meghan and Josh is that it will go
smoothly, with no problems, no issues. - Well I think what can
make a bad Southern wedding, is for too many opinions to be brought out. - A true Southern gentleman
has to know how to dance. The guy keeps his
eye on the lady. And she just kinda looks
really pretty dancing. You're there to
make her look good. - My mom was a ballroom dancer, at the national level
when she was younger, and still loves dancing. She choreographs everything
that she can get her hands on. She really wants our
mother-son dance to be special. - Knock knock! - [Lisa] Quick quick slow. - Oh, that was good! Lisa is a previous
ballroom dancer, and she has very high
expectations for our wedding. - Okay, the question is, what did you want ya'll to do? (quirky music) - We're just gonna wing it. - I think you should have
something planned though. - We're just gonna wing it. For our first dance, we're
gonna dance to a country song. You know I just
kinda want it to be just kinda intimate
between the two of us. - I had a suggestion. Have the DJ break
into charleston music. And just do, charleston. - The charleston? - [Josh] Yeah I figured it out
- [Lisa] Yeah. - [Josh] Took me a while. (old timey dance music) - Step, touch, step touch. Step, touch, step touch. Step, touch, just
light on your feet. Step, touch. And you would go,

whole time, right? - And then she turns around,
and you whistle for her. (Josh whistles) You come up, and

- Oh my! (quirky music) Are you serious? - And then you carry
her off stage like that. You know? - Do you remember how
tight my dress is? - Well we gotta figure out
some way to make that work. - Most Southern
girls try to always be on their best behavior. Normally when I
disagree with Lisa, or someone who I
respect, you know, I would never just
come out and say, "No, I don't agree with
you, that's not right, "I don't wanna do this." - Jump just like a
baby in his arms. - And I'll catch ya. - [Meghan and Lisa] Whoa! - Keep both of your legs
out at the same time. - And then sling her around, and don't stop 'cause
you have no spring. (Josh whistles) - Whoa! Oh my! (laughs) - Yeah, when you jump
just get the momentum, and help him to go around. There you go, good. There you go! (Josh yelps) You shouldn't feel heavy to him. - You're not! - Well now I didn't
mean it in that way. - If it came down to it,
with Meghan and my mom, I would not get in the middle. So I'm definitely gonna play
the diplomat in that arena. - What do you think,

couple gets married, the rule is that they
should stay three years. In mother and father's home. To follow the tradition,
to learn these ways, and to pass it on. - You're gonna have to carry
her through the threshold with her--

tradition, you're arranged, you get married, you
really don't know them, and that's a part of marriage. That's why the first
year of Gypsy marriage is actually one of

pressure for Christian, to learn to become a man. To become the head

day was gonna come, but I mean, it still is scary. You're just gonna
be in a new house, with new people

that Maria was in my house. Maria, where do you
want your wedding dress? - [Maria] Um, I don't know. - All right, I just moved
everything downstairs, it's your job to
pack everything away. - The role of a Gypsy wife is just take care of your husband. Every Gypsy girl
grows up knowing that, but that doesn't
mean that it's easy. - Put away my things. These are my drawers. - It's very stressful going
from being not married to being married
and being a husband. You have to take on

authority figure. And right away, I have
to jump into that role, that I'm not really

waking up in you know, a house that really isn't yours. And to a family that
really isn't your family. But I mean, they are
my family, I love them, but they're just not

is a little weird. When you get
married, as a woman, it is your

what Maria's going through, moving in with us. I did it when I got married,
I moved in with his family. You know that that's
what's gonna happen. So you sort of deal with it. If she's not happy,

to make you to eat, Chris? She said she makes
good meatloaf. - Yeah, meatloaf,
mashed potatoes, corn. - Her family told us that
she knew how to cook, so I wanted to test her out. I wanna see how
good you really are. Why don't you guys

first responsibility. Shop, you're cooking,

go in meatloaf? - Yes. - I never heard of putting
carrots in meatloaf in my life. - I know it sounds

supermarket with me and Maria was one that I would like
to say I would forget about. I felt very awkward, I
just wanted to go home. Do you put anything else
weird inside your meatloaf? - His nervousness was
making me nervous. - Hold this for me.
- [Chris] Ow! Whoa, my sneakers man! She ran over my
shoes like 600 times. Can you stop hitting
my sneakers please? - I didn't hit you! I didn't think it
would be so hard. This better be the best

considered a music party. And it's usually a day
before the actual wedding and the reception. Doing these dances
at our sangeet, there is some part of
traditions in there that are mixed, intertwined
with what's going on, and it's a cool thing that
when the groom does it, comes up on stage
and does this for his future-to-be wife. - But right now,

- [Vinny] Hey! - My sister is a
very dominant woman, and so is my wife, so they
kind of clash a little bit, but they all love each other. So I have to always put out
fires between both of them. But I love them to death so, this is a scary look

with something else or another, putting out fires. And I'm just ready for
this wedding to be done, and enjoy my marriage. - And then drop down

for Veeral at the sangeet. And I'm gonna be dancing with
a bunch of my girlfriends. I'm super excited, I

about all these equal rights for men and women, and I just don't believe that. I am not a women's libber, I don't wanna be equal to men. (laughter) - I do. - I don't think a woman

rehearsal dinner. I am freaking out, you
know, that's crazy, like, I'm actually
getting married tomorrow! - Just knowing that tomorrow

asked you yet, - Um... A little bit, I'll work on that. I can work on that. With Lisa, I always
feel like I need to meet her expectations and
be the wife that she is. But lord, let me tell you, now it is double
the pressure to be that wife that your

you just put the vegetables inside the meatloaf. - Yeah, we make this
totally different. So you put it in hot? - No, I let it cool
down a little bit. This is my first big test. If the meatloaf

jealous of Maria because she's taking over my job of

parents' opinions, and they look to their

high expectations. And sometimes she makes me feel like I'm disappointing her. - I'll just sit there
and bite my tongue, because I was raised
a certain way, and you do not
disrespect your elders, especially your mother-in-law. - She's a good lady in training. - She is a Southern
lady in training, we're trying to teach her,
we're constantly correcting her. - We do, she gets--

can hurt my feelings. - She wants to do it
right, she really does. - She listens to us
most of the time. She eats good Southern
food too, she loves to eat. - That's gonna be a problem. Big problem. - Banana pudding. We've got to start
teaching her how to make banana pudding.
- [Lisa] Oh Meghan, you've got to learn to
make banana pudding. Yeah, we've got to teach Meghan. - Meghan doesn't know how

my cousin, she makes the best. - From scratch?

borrow her earings. My mom, she gave
me a new bracelet. - Stick your leg

and Maria got married, and Maria is in our home, We all have to make adjustments. I have to teach him
responsibility of being married. You gotta start taking

- All right, bye. You see that? That's an example there. She won't make a salad without my approval. You understand? The most important thing
that me and Nina are doing, is setting an example
for Christian and Maria. You're the leader, you're
the head of the household. If you want your way
and she wants her way, you're gonna start disagreeing. Then there's problems. Your mother's opinion, and my
opinion, are the same thing. You understand, Pete? That's gonna take time,
Christian, you understand? - Yeah. My dad, he tends to
like put me on tilt. But I guess I just
have to man it up, I have to get up and
do what I gotta do. - We'll see how it goes, huh? You guys want anything else? - [Boys] No. - I didn't even eat my salad, 'cause I'm doing
all the talking. (upbeat dance music) (champagne cork popping) (ladies cheering) - So my friends
and I are in Vegas for my bachelorette party. I have 10 of my closest
girlfriends here. We're just going
to have a mix of hanging out, going out. - [Voiceover] The
bachelorette says drink. - It's gonna be a great
time, I'm super excited. - Hey babe!
- [Ragini] Hi baby! - What are you doing? - Wait, you're gonna
actually go ATVing? - I thought you were joking! I thought that was
some kind of joke, trying to be like you
thought you were some badass. - I think, I don't know if you
should be doing this, babe, right before your
wedding, it's dangerous. - I don't think you
should go, like literally, just go to like a
pool party instead! - Do what you wanna do,
but call me afterwards, make sure everybody is
you know, safe and fine. - I love you. - [Voiceover] We need
some music up in here! - So I'm kind of
an intense person, so the idea of going
ATVing is to get me out of my comfort zone and
conquer those fears of mine. (engines revving) (cheering) - [Voiceover] Ragini look out! (screaming) - [Voiceover]

for putting Meghan I truly believe the Lord had
his hands in their meeting. - We were both raised
Southern Baptist, and when Maria arranged
for Meghan and I to meet, I knew she was the one,
right at that first date, looking back. She was just the one,
that was kind of, that was when I knew. - I am nervous
now, very nervous. To be honest, I like
taking deep breaths, like, it's gonna be okay. - When she started
walking down the aisle, I definitely could not
take my eyes off her. I didn't see anything
except for her. She's so beautiful. It's hard to believe I was
gonna get to marry her. ♪ I'm all in ♪ Take my hand baby

D. Tavernier. - I am married! I'm a Tavernier. All the stress is like gone now, now I can enjoy
myself, I'm so excited to spend the evening
with my husband. Crazy, right? - I really couldn't
be more excited now, it's the first hour of
our new life together. - [Groomsman] Oh yeah,
what's up Mrs. Tavernier? - Now that we're married,
we head to the reception. Now I have to deal
with the situation with Josh's mom and
our first dance. I hate conflict, especially
if it's your in-laws. (applause)
(cheering) - [Voiceover] At this
time, our bride and groom are gonna be doing their first
dance as husband and wife. ♪ No I've never seen
nothing like you ♪ - The wedding was
absolutely gorgeous, but Josh and
Meghan's first dance, it was just very simplistic. But you know, Meghan
is a little bit safe. - Lisa's a very
opinionated person. She had a lot of opinions about what we should do
for our first dance. But I want it to be
just kinda intimate between the two of us. It was perfect. (applause) - [Voiceover] At this
time I want to ask Josh and his mom
to come forward. - Where are we going? Right here? - I think it's a special time
to do something extra special, not just a side-to-side
slow dance. So I'm gonna stick to my guns. hopefully it will be a
very special moment for us. (applause) (elegant ballroom music) - After we finished
our first dance, and we did not do the charleston like Lisa had asked us to do, she was like, adamant
that she'd one-up me. I was shocked to be honest. It honestly pisses me
off, I'm not gonna lie. (elegant ballroom dance music) - Josh and Lisa dancing, hmm... - Being caught in
the middle of two, very powerful women,
and what they want, is definitely tough. But Southern men are,
in a way, mommas boys. You know, mom is
always gonna win. - [Lisa] Quick, quick, slow. - To be honest, I think it
went on for a long time. It was time to get
my husband back. - [Lisa] Good job! - Thank you. (upbeat dance music) - Mmm, that's the lemon! - We're ready to pass on the "taking care of Joshua"
baton to Meghan, she's as beautiful
inside as she is outside. - I'm a wife! Now, Lisa, she kinda
played the role that I'm hoping to
be able to play. You know, cooking dinner,
keeping the house clean, you know, things like that. I'm sure she'll still
offer her advice though, 'cause she loves to do that. But as his wife, he's
mine, and only mine. (cheering) Everything was just
exactly what I wanted. It was my dream wedding,
and it's just so sad 'cause it ended so fast! You know I wanted
it to last forever. You know, everything
was perfect. And the rest is history. - First thing's first. We have to practice making baby. (Meghan laughs) - You better not! (Josh grunts) (Meghan shrieks and giggles) - I fractured my leg
in an ATV accident. - [Voiceover] Ragini look out! (screaming) - I'm really nervous
about whether this is gonna
affect the wedding. If I'm gonna be able
to walk down the aisle, if I'm gonna be able to dance. It's just the worst
possible timing that I could have imagined. And i'm just trying
to stay hopeful that maybe this has
a chance of healing. (upbeat music) - [Veeral] How's your leg feel? - [Ragini] It's still
hurting really bad. - I got you dinner. - Oh thank you! I'm not touching it.
- [Ragini] Okay. I know, but just be
careful, it's really sore. - I know. - I can't believe it happened. It's so close to the wedding
that it's making me nervous. - I warned you. - You never warned
me, not even one time. - I did warn you.
- [Ragini] No. - I told you how
dangerous it can be. - I asked you if it
was easy to maneuver, you said yes.
- [Veeral] It is easy, for somebody that
can ride motorcycles, and has experienced
these things. But for somebody that's a
novice, it's not a good thing. Ragini went to her bachelorette
party in Las Vegas, and she ended up
breaking her leg. It pretty much sucks. But at least Ragini
and I do live together here in Los Angeles, so
I can take care of her. You gotta do it. Rest, ice,
compression, elevation. That's your therapy right
now, to heal this bad boy. - Yeah, obviously
I'm worried about how am I gonna get things
done for the wedding, like I have to be mobile-- - We have my family here. - But you know I
don't ask for help. - I know, but that's
what partnership is. - I don't wanna tell
anyone that I, you know? - They're your mom
and sister now. - Yeah. - That's how we kinda work, and you should not feel-- - But I know your sister's
got a lot going on too, with the kids.
- [Veeral] Yeah, but this is such a big deal, I
don't think this is, they would have dropped
everything for you! - I just feel like,
what is anyone gonna do? Veeral is more accepting
of embracing my family than I am, because
it's harder for me to be that way naturally. Me, I take time to kind of
warm up and get comfortable. I cannot see myself not
being able to dance. You know, at the Sangeet. Which I was supposed to
do with my girlfriends. - I didn't know you
were gonna do a dance. - It was supposed to
actually be a surprise, but it's not gonna happen now,
so it really doesn't matter. - I cannot believe she
actually broke her leg before our wedding. I hope we don't have
to cancel the wedding. - My leg feels really bad, I'm still terrified that I'm
gonna be in this condition at my wedding, and it's just
such a devastating thought. - We're gonna be eating a
lot of five-dollar pizzas. - We're gonna be
living with his brother to save money and stuff. (loud burping) - What do you think about
Christian and Maria? - I don't know. - Make me feel like, oh,
maybe we made a mistake. - Well you know
what? Maybe I did! - Why don't I just go? I'll just leave. And maybe your life
will be better, maybe you'll be happy again.
