[Music] the house was integrated with nature with big openings sliding doors um facing the green belt but also using the Topography of the house where the house steps down with the slope of the site um instead of just building a big platform the garden is sloped and the house is sloped to maximize views and also to give that feeling of a Hideway in between the trees this build was a was a dream of mine we got this piece of land it's 45 M North facing piece of land which is great and the beauty is we've got a green belt in front of us so what I wanted to achieve was to almost confuse people I didn't want them to know they enter the house and then they're busy exiting again and then they enter again so I really wanted to meet nature and bring nature in inside with the forest Hiway project the interior designer is Ila from interior Edge which had strong concepts for the Interiors of our house we then Incorporated some of those materials on the ex ior side of the house to create a strong flow between inside and outside building a house is always this always challenges um building your own house I think is even more difficult J was very helpful um we actually did the whole house together interior exterior and Furniture wise I like to upcycle and recycle so I try to use old stuff and stuff with character stuff from our family um so yeah each has got a story and that's that's what makes that special for us the brief for the house was to design a pavilion styled house and to maximize the Topography of the site as well as the green belt on the northeastern side of the property the house is designed as two pre standing Pavilions one a public space which is a open planed living dining Lounge area and then another Pavilion which is the more private space of the house where the three bedrooms are allocated these two Pavilions are then linked by a glass Corridor which gives transparency to the garden and it connects the inhabitant to the surrounding spaces which were important in Project Highway because we are in a forest the sliding glazing elements on both sides of the house allow for free flow of wind through the house the position of the fenestration in the house was specifically done to highlight certain elements and to expose the artwork we've got a very solid facade to the house where you're not sure where the entrance of the house is except if you have a clue at the paving there's a white Paving leading to a integr front door once you go through the front door you're then in inner Courtyard to enhance this experience towards the lower Pavilion the kitchen I really wanted to not have a modern kitchen but I didn't want to have a only F Farmhouse look kitchen so what we did is the back kitchen is quite kind of modern and then I found this old workbench in the Midlands and I brought it here and that's actually my kitchen island the one cupboard is a old Locker cupboard renovated that and I've put that in so I mix the old and the new the other special thing is I've got a very good friend a Potter Lindsay Scott in Midlands and he handmade our tiles our um prep Bowls the basins so yeah he was also very involved so it was nice to to have friends involved [Music]
