hello and welcome to this tutorial in which we're going to be looking at building this title effect in motion we're going to be doing everything apart from the starfield background which means we'll be building the text and also the planet which should be quite fun okay so I've got a new project here in which I've got nothing except the stuff your background and a piece of text that I've done already typed in to save you having to watch me type and I'm going to make a clone of that text I'm going to come to my library generators and select clouds and I'm going to apply that to clouds that group and they're now going to give it an image mask and the image mask is going to be the original text layer like so that clouds generator is now providing the fill for the text if I reduce the scale of it a bit so we've got as a brushed look that's a fairly good starting point I could come into the gradient generator and add some extra colors to mine just push that a little bit towards cyan you know okay so that's going to be the basis in my text then I'm going to come to my clone layer and I'm going to add a filter and it's going to be stylize extrude oh that's nasty extrude is very very nasty until you calm it down a bit I'm going to change the angle to 270 so it goes straight down and I'm going to set the distance to be 3 just a little bit of extra interest but haven't gone crazy and then close that up and then call that group text and to the group as a whole I'm going to apply another filter and this time it's going to be the indent filter which is very very useful and if we zoom in to 100% here that's so you can see a little bit better what's going on you'll see that the indent filter has done a really good job right off the bat over actually making that look more like it was 3d notice that I can really sort of crank up the sharpness of those highlights and you know I can play with the softness like that I think I quite like that look although I would say those highlights too bright okay I'm going to go with that let's hide our text and let's create a planet I'm going to make a new group come on shift end and I'm going to use my favorite clouds generator again and I need to make it M square so I'm going to make it a thousand bar a thousand we should be bigger than our planet and then just in order so that we can see what on earth I think I'm doing here I'm going to come to the top of the group and I'm going to add another filter and this time it's going to be a distortion filter and it's going to be severe and as soon as I hit sphere it turns that into a planet let's take this sphere filter and you'll notice that I can just reduce the size let's reduce it to about 350 I think and then I can come into my clouds generator and starts to play with the gradient again I need some more interesting colors in here so let's a number of tabs the more tabs I make the more complexity I can add into my planet so I'm not gonna go crazy on these colors it's very easy to just overdo this what I can also do is I can play with the various strengths to get a better result that looks more planet like so really I'm not going to waste too much of your time showing you how to do that in too much detail I'm going to just duplicate that and I'm going to just the second volume luggage to a little antique blue there and I'm going to use color dodge as my blend mode and bring it down I mean what color Dodge maybe linear Dodge we don't want this to be too bright so I'm doing this I'm adding more complexity to my colors as you can see what I'm going to do is I'm going to rotate that original one because I want a bit of brightness at the top line that I think would be nice and I'm going to add one more thing to it which is back to my generators I'm going to add our caustics and again that's sphere filter which is applied to the top group he's affecting everything inside I'm just going to make that very dark and I just want to turn speed down to nothing and they're not going to notice rather strangely as I increase the brightness it makes those darker but that's fine that's I can live with that I'm going to duplicate that and let's just do the rotation trick so we get a bit of random maybe just change the size okay you get the idea it's basically just adding a bit of more fine detail to the planet now it's all extremely bright and we're going to fix that by adding a simple rectangle which again just gets cropped off to that sphere shape I don't and then what we're going to do is we're going to come to the rectangle scale and scale it down like so I'm not too worried about the bottom of the planet because we're actually going to not be seeing it so why don't we move that planet down now so we get a better idea let's move it down to about there and then I'm going to come to my shape and I'm going to feather this the idea that's starting to look like it's in darkness and when you said that blend mode to multiply you go it's more likely and then we can just have the remotest hint 99 remotest hints of light on this side of the planet as you can see it's not the world's greatest planet and you know with a bit more time and effort you could certainly use these techniques to create something much nicer yourself but it gives you the basic idea so let me call that one in it and let's turn on the text which is behind it that's not going to be good no the other thing I want to do is I want to add some sort of billowing plasma or clouds behind this planet and the way that I'm going to do that is I'm going to take one of these original cloud layers just for convenience drag it out to make a new group I'm going to put my group behind my regime group that's cancel out a rotation which we don't want there we go and I'm going to use the circle mask just to roughly rough out where I want that plasma to happened and I'm going to come to the mass properties and really give it a lot of softness and I'm going to come to the blend mode for the lair and set that to color dodge and you can see that nice plasma a background what that reminds me you're probably seeing on this planet that it's all swirling around and that's because we admitted to I admitted to not your fault changed this speed if we set it to zero that will simply not move which is probably what we want although you could set it to a tiny amount like 0.2 or something and then you'll get a just a subtle hint of maybe a little bit more 0.3 something going on on that planet you know what that needs a lot more detail doesn't it let's reduce that scale quite a bit reduce the scale because a lot more planetary detail there you go that's more planet like isn't it so now that is our planet with a little bit of distracted there this is going to be our let's call it when you duplicate this original plasma there and I'm going to change this color desaturate it quite a bit so let's look at mask 2 and this we want to just really bring down right down like that and then this we're going to crank up the level of it I'm also going to scale it inwards as well because I don't really want this effect to be on the edges just at the top and then we'll do very quickly just do a bit of animation for my planet and I'm going to take that and I'm going to add a basic motion throw - 4 on the why make it so room decend and third I'm going to bring it forward on the said so yeah the planet will move towards us the text I'm going to do the same thing text basic motion throw I think the text could afford to come up very slightly I think one will probably do it and also to come forward to solving that for as well okay so there's just two more things I'd like to do to try and make this a little work a little bit better the first of which is I'd like to get this plasma layer that's just right on the edge there to interrupt a bit more the planet at the moment it's listed just being cropped off by the edge of the planet so I'm going to drag it out into a new group and obviously it's now in front of the planet but we can fix that by adding a new image mask and then using the planet as the source for that image mask and then we'll set the blend mode not blend mode to subtract remembering of course de tourny planet back on again and now we're back to where we were but you'll see that if I adjust the offset of that mask that is now overlapping the edge of the planet and if I come to my filters Gaussian blur and add it to the image were asked not to the image itself which I did not ask and then increase the amount you'll see that I get a nice overlap that bright plasma okay and the other thing I wanted to do is to get more of a sense that the text is being lit by this light on the back of the planet and in order to do that I'm going to take my text it's okay to make a clone and then I'm come to my library color correction levels and I'm going to use the white just to bring down the outside a bit more or rather the overall level and then I'm going to use a circular mask and just draw roughly around that edge of the planet that mouth goes inside out so all we have to do is inverted and add a little bit of and we could maybe bring it right down like that and here with a bit more adjustment is the finished article that's pretty much it I hope that showed you a few interesting tips and tricks and maybe see you next time
