artificial intelligence is coming to your next iPhone Apple's announced a superpowered Siri to make life easier supposedly but the move brought immediate backlash from the world's most online billionaire Elon Musk tick reporter Finn Hogan has more recently dethroned as the world's most valuable company Apple had something to prove at its annual developer conference that it wasn't being left behind in the AI arms race but Apple being Apple that's not using the same lingo as everyone else the thing that particularly stuck out to me was Apple was doing everything it could to still not use the words artificial intelligence instead we have apple intelligence which will soup up Siri perform tasks on command across your devices and even create custom emojis you can say things like pull up the files that Jaws shared with me last week or show me all the photos of mom Olivia and me or SL the podcast that my wife sent the other day we're designing Apple intelligence to be able to orchestrate these and hundreds of other actions for you Apple also announced a partnership with open AI allowing Siri to access chat GPT on request but with strict privacy controls so your data is not shared externally but open ai's original founder Elon Musk was unimpressed threatening to ban Apple products and his companies over privacy concerns I do question if he actually watched the keynote possibly just reading tweets about it but if you do have an older phone your smartphone isn't getting any smarter Apple intelligence will only work on the newest Hardware they're saying in order to have data and privacy we're only going to provide these services to devices that can do the work on the device soile the response to Apple's showcase has been muted it's share price even dipping following the event if people were expecting Apple to completely upend the world of AI then they'll go away disappointed this is all kind of stuff that already exists just brought together but that's also kind of what Apple does you know that's what the iPhone was it brought together a bunch of things that other people were doing but it made them simpler it made them easier to deal with it made them cool that's what apple is trying to do here it seems apple is betting big that it can win this AI Race by going slow and steady fin Hogan newshub
