wow guys um just know it wasn't us that wasn't our fault all right we're back sorry guys uh there's been some unbelievable points going on here but we're still in game two here of our pro women's doubles winner bracket final yes seven six waters lead seven six uh apologies for missing some really great action again not our fault um 762 annaleigh water serving you're in game two good leave there from annalee waters on a very tough ball to leave too especially with the wind at their back thinking it's going to knock it down the water's hoping to take this to a game three i wouldn't mind that um not one bit the viewers at home missed some awesome pickleball action hopefully we can get you guys a game three we'll see what we can do oh that's a great set up there from annalee and lee going backhand backhand twice to simone she ends up popping one up and leaves there for the put away for a 9-6 lead here during a timeout love it all right if you're hopefully back with us guys uh again sorry about that nothing we could do about that uh i am lauren mclaughlin along with dominic catalano here with you all day for men's and women's doubles action here on our championship court we of course have a second court streaming as well we've had some awesome pro doubles matches over there as well as senior pro doubles matches so hopefully you guys have been able to watch double the here out of uh our co-hosts for our tournament this weekend lee and annalee waters they're taking on simone jorgen and catherine perento and uh we're here in game two the waters are currently up they lost game one eleven seven so they're looking to take this to a game three which we'll try and get for you guys at home a little uh more pickleball the better we're back to the action here after our timeout a good time out there timeout from sharjeem and perento oh yeah cocked and loaded that was a beauty right down the line there that forehand put away by annalee waters 692. simone jardine serving i just don't i don't think it was the right decision for annalee to just drop that i was like she should have just crush crush it pound that ball she's definitely regretting that decision as well dom angles it's tough to beat that again you'll never you can't get that it's impossible to get so but it's a risk reward if you're not as good as some money regime and hitting that angle it's a tough shot eight nine two nipping at the heels of the waters here in game two oh my gosh what is that uh all she did was miss hit that was it i think she was expecting it a little harder too from anna lee let's see if lee and annalee can finish this game here oh nope no it was on she hit the ground first she looked to the crowd everyone in the crowd was like no it was out that's a great try though so low it just like it skidded on the floor pretty much immediately after hitting it the fact that she actually got it around the post because it was such a tight angle is amazing and we have a game point for the waters here in game two of our winner bracket final for women's doubles we will go to a tiebreaker game three if the waters can pull this off they're definitely hoping to do it on this next serve of course uh simone jarjin and catherine parento calling this time out with the hopes of you know squashing any momentum that the waters have rolling in squashing those hopes and dreams squash it like a bug and uh we'll we'll see if it was a good time out or not for them when we come back here momentarily i'm looking forward to a game three dumb well of course why wouldn't we why would we we missed a couple points here in game two well we didn't well we that's true we were here watching here but uh furious that the people at home weren't seeing it at the same time what is fumingly furious it means that my head bursts into flames all right all right we're back lee waters game point here wow in there oh that did it game three you're welcome everybody home i did that for you a little two-handed and we're going game three game three gonna have just a minute or two are you okay um sorry randy coleman he got us very excited oh my goodness something something insane is happening i'm not sure what i'm going to try to not be yeah very distracted so we got game three coming up all right we do so anna lee and lee came out firing in that game uh using the wind at their back to their advantage and those drives just gaining a couple extra miles an hour on those drives put a lot more pressure on jar jim and perento and then they came back and and had an answer for it but uh the waters are just a little too much there in game two and we end up going to a game three of course that's what we want we sure do selfishly yeah of course you know catherine perento and simone georgini were hoping to not go to this game three because uh as we've seen you know this is quite an evenly matched uh pairing between these two teams either one more than capable of coming out on top here in the winter bracket final and heading to our gold medal match but honestly dom i wouldn't be surprised if uh we have a repeat of this in our gold medal match uh and we'll just have to see yeah how that how that shakes out but uh i'm excited i think we're gonna have some some fiery points again here in game three and uh hopefully you guys at home are tuned in and watching this action either on uh facebook or youtube on both the app tour pages i'm lauren mclaughlin dominic catalano by my side all day long dave fleming might make an appearance at some point but we're kicking off game three here in our women's winter bracket final catherine perento coming out strong on the serve making it one zero two as we kick off game three whatever uh that's great work there good construction of a point there all around from all four ladies the water's coming out on top to even the score up at one early in game three talk about it right lauren it's cocked and loaded sure was and pulled that trigger right down the middle and you know the waters are are riding the wave of confidence from their game two win 11 8 so uh we're seeing that play out here still i expect a close match here for game three oh there's the little shake and bake on the fifth shot drop from uh the water is just so in sync obviously they play together exclusively and women's i think a little heat check there from lee waters it's all right 3-1 lead going for it trying to put that pressure on now like lee and annalee i like it they're stacking to put anna lee on the left now um and use that two-handed backhand cross court oh no no now they're playing the match-up game they want anna lee cross court from simone and simone and corinne counter it with a switch that's the little or you said i say correct catherine and simone counter it with a stack switch one for one simone charging serving here in game three of our winner bracket final a little cat and mouse game between these teams here there's analy giving the open hand to mom saying they're gonna switch here and they do i think lee is going to simone there because she wants simoni to go cross court um with anna lee and simone wasn't having any of it they like this matchup it's a lot of strategy at work yeah there's a time look at it look at it but it's hard for sort of i mean i'm just an amateur player as well it's uh it's very interesting to see and kind of get explained or understand what's kind of going on strategy it's those little game within the game this is what simone wants she wants lee opposite because she thinks she can take her wow we saw it perfect you saw that hole we had a perfect bird's eye view of that hole watch it again here oh we're on the kitchen so we missed it but we saw lee hit it oh yeah and it's funny because katherine and simone were both going for it saw each other going for it and pulled back and ultimately no one got it so i think they they both had a shot at that had they not sort of psyched each other out one five one we had we have seen quite a few little runs and streaks of points here this match oh wow so instead of going head on here simone changes it or uh i'm sorry anna lee changes it up and says nope i'm going backside that's such so smart from a 14 year old girl playing this game to have that knowledge and the smarts i think most people watching it's like that would never even enter our minds we're just we're just hitting it to get it over and in the court right whereas these pros they're placing it you know they're it there's so much behind just hitting it in the court katherine perrin no you did not [Applause] let's watch that again because i mean look at that pic and then i mean that's incredible goodness gracious and you're watching pickleball right now at the top peak level i mean it doesn't get much better than this right now that you what you guys are watching at home incredible and we're at six two on a change of ends here with annalee and lee waters and here's the lead the weather forecast it still feels like 76 and it is 76. that's amazing the sun's come out a little bit more now the partly cloudy it is now in the partly sunny part of the day we had a lot more clouds earlier in the day so it's it's warmed it up a little bit at least how it feels here on in the stadium uh the winds have actually died down a little they were pretty calm this morning at about 11 as you saw they ramped up just a little bit uh as we're mid part of the day and they're they're calming down a little now as well so not affecting play as much as it was just a little bit earlier but we're back here from our end change tie breaking game three winner bracket final yeah and there it is that the end change right there that ball the beginning of this third game was in and now that's out because of the wind on that side behind annalee and lee waters that's good that ball was good right there simone thought it was going long lee got on top of it just enough to drop that in at the baseline for a 7-2 lead i didn't even see annalee waters coming across until she was in front of the ball and i was like wait a second because i i just expected lee waters and then all of a sudden a blur of annalee waters just shot over lee's not gonna miss that very often at this point in the game as it you know you don't want to see the frustration of those missed opportunities kind of creep into the waters game here uh how did anali waters get that right there i mean what it was that was just a reflectionary deflect back over my goodness four seven one parent own on a streak right now and there's the timeout that's a great time out i mean it's a yeah you gotta take that time out catherine's jacked up right now the last thing you want is an excited catherine to get her going she's still talking to herself right now i mean she's got a purpose of the walk to go sit down and grab some water i mean i don't doubt she's gonna grab a sip of water and then come right back out on court yeah this is i mean she's ready to go both game one and game two it's been you know the teams have got hot and then the other team gets hot and we got some streaks and we got some runs going on and that's why you know the waters were out you know seven two seven one and uh now it's five seven and they still have the serve and they're not done yet necessarily so the waters are going to have to do their absolute best here hopefully this time out was a good one for them and hopefully they can kind of regroup and stop this run wow that's a great backdoor attack from simone jargim surprised lee waters that she actually went to her forehand and we're within one point of tying this game up on first server oh you hear simone just oh she is in catherine's ear telling her how good she is right now and what you're seeing now you see let's see if they switch it i can't see annalee's hand signal they may switch here no they stay but they had changed it up a little and put lee opposite simone it's a good change we better watch backside here simone's itching for it i think wow that's incredible you can hear the applause of everyone that we got in the stadium watching right now we got people at double double levels here in the stadium man i the coach never leaves simone no matter what she knows what it takes to get katherine going and she's doing it look at her that's just that's incredible i almost want lee to just keep the firefight going instead of trying to reset that she has such a wicked two-handed backhand yeah there we go the change again so the two times they've done the the change where lee ends up on the left side and annaly's on the right it's worked i expect a change here i'd like to see annalee switch on this one and just keep that change going and they're gonna stay ah what are you kidding me right there i'm just in the crowd cheering with everybody else that was unbelievable wow wow wow wow wow wow i got it and all it was was a side out no point nothing else to say eight two annalee water serving here in our third game winner bracket final wow another amazing rally right there catherine perento and simone charging with a one point lead here in game three go go wow i mean this drop is disgusting oh we got a timeout on a match point as we come back from this it will be simone jardine and catherine parente out in front with a match point on their paddles i can hear this of course is the waters hometown crowd here in delray beach florida you can hear some people in the crowd uh shouting some encouragement and support for them to stay in it stay fighting which we of course know they will um we're in this position we're in this position our first match of the game where we had annesbury and franco versus janssen and stratman jansen and stratman were down 10-7 in game three and came back and won 13-11 so let's see if the waters can do the same here i mean they absolutely have all the shots in their arsenal all the strategy it's just about execution at this point yeah yeah for sure so got to get the side out here first though first things first before you can score got to get this side out get the ball back in your hands and once the ball is back in your hands you can score all right match point here they're gonna have two shots at it there's one there's one there's one take that one off half of the battle and getting this the ball back simone talking herself saying i got to get on top of that if she gets on top of that the game's over match is over second match point simone's already talking about going changing showering eating all this stuff it puts you in a nice position though to do that correct absolutely i mean especially because it is quite warm right now then i think it's important that we no don't hang around all day and i mean it's already bad as it is you know standing around so go i mean i feel like i got burned pretty badly i'm just talking about it and i think a nice cool shower will be good and then definitely eat uh because it's such an awkward time yeah so just gotta make sure that we're ready yeah um going into that one you win game one uh coming into game two anna lee and lee came out pretty hot in game two um we were talking off camera before we got on here simonia like anna lee was on fire right and she came out she was playing very well um they take game two going into game three what are you thinking as far as strategy wise after they take game two so we tried to mix it up a little bit we tried to have me on the back and side then we started maybe we won the first point i think i believe like one zero and then we lost the next four points or five and we said okay let's go back to our normal uh the way we usually play yeah and we just we kept fighting and fighting and just try i mean it was we didn't think we were playing that well uh and we felt like it was a little bit ugly at times but we just kept fighting and we found our way to the the win and i like how you say that you say go back to the play we normally play right not kind of letting an opponent dictate how you play go back to the way you play the way you play well when i talked to ken ben and colin earlier they reiterated the same thing it's like we're not going to change anything we want to go to play our strengths and not as a not as a i'm gonna play the opponents and what we think that they're gonna do is that something you're conscious of and thinking of yeah because sometimes uh what happens is you get caught up in the moment and you think that you have to do either more or you have to do less where what we do is good enough it always has been uh and so it's just a matter of uh sticking to what we know and staying aggressive i mean we play an aggressive game and we allowed them and they were doing a really good job at dictating points uh what i was mentioning is nla uh has been hitting that top spin back end dink really well and i i didn't adjust until later in the third game and uh which you know i will definitely be frustrated about because it took that long uh but she was doing a really good job uh with that is because because on the first game mama's on the the left and daughter on the right so i never saw it and then on the second game is when they swap and then it was working and i didn't get to adjust them to the third game and uh luckily you know we did uh and then catherine you know she literally she was missing on the tape a couple and i think that that's also kind of got her a little hesitant and then yeah on the third game she started going for it and i mean she finished with approach and then the fact of the matter was that at 7 7 coach simone came out because she knows that you play better when you're fired up all of a sudden at seven seconds you hit you hit a winner at seven on seven seven make it eight seven she got in your face and was screaming at you and then it went from eight seven to nine seven and it just picked up and i'm sitting up there going oh come on coach simone's taking over i said because she's firing catherine up and they took a timeout you walked over to get a drink like a with a purpose you were walking over i'm getting this drink coming back out and the whole time on the way back simone's in your ear talking to you and i'm like this is trouble because catherine's getting fired up here and is that something that you feed off of though yes i i mean that's like that's how i used to be in college too that's how she she i wonder how she knows that yeah i mean from college yeah and uh but that's funny that you you brought that up because i remember she started saying yeah but i was turned i was not even facing her and she screamed and i was like it playing amazing undefeated of course through the bracket to meet each other here to see who will go on to wait in our gold medal match which we currently are planning to air at 4 30 p.m eastern time neon yellow shoes colin john's doing a pretty good job fending off the onslaught from decal bar let's uh check that ball right off the bat zero zero one steve deacon serving after that side out zero two just good pressure on that dink by ben again one of the best in the business at dinking well pretty much at anything but he hides it so well too i mean see even ben johns makes mistakes every once in a while he's human still at zeros here and game one of this men's winter bracket final just wide nice yes everyone asking i apologize you did not miss here the women's final will be broadcast on cbs april 3rd and i'll just say uh that decision was above our pay grade don tom i'm just long on that return and yes on thursday we did stream the finals but it is not going to be on cbs we'll have the men's final today yep we'll have the mix final tomorrow heck yeah just this one women's final fortunately but it's gonna be a good one whoever it is one of these two teams will be there great job by colin johns though noticing and recognizing barr about to attack that took a step back off the kitchen line just a little too much on his counter 4-0-1 deacon and bar out in front here early in game one colin telling ben to hit winds picking up just a little bit here gusting here and there so i have no doubt some of these points are going to be affected by wind good duck and leave by deacon so far today the wind has almost exclusively uh been coming out of the north so to the back of ben and colin john's right now and into the face of steve deacon and decal bar oh deacon with the quick hands after ben john's just fired that shot on him oh that was a message i mean deacon and barb both thought that was coming in hot and fast i think the wind kind of pulled it just out of colin's sweet spot and he ended up kind of tipping it instead oh so decal almost decided to try and go around the post but it wasn't there had to change his uh shot at the last second ends up in the net good pressure by ben johns on the cross court backhand ink he wants to go right back to it again well now we'll go a little uh deacon colin johns and ben says no i want in 242 the john's oh deacon had uh that forehand down the line just didn't get over it quite enough sends it a little long it's gonna be three four two ben john's serving oh wowza i mean ben hit that from off the ground basically a couple inches flips it up we've seen this a lot today dom where one team has gotten out to a good early lead and then adjust poof gone good work by ben just gaining ground every shot deacon visibly frustrated after not being able to get that and of course they just lost their you know 4-0 lead that's now 6-4 and that's what happens when you're playing the johns brothers if you don't continue to press and continue to put that pressure on you let them back in and now you're all and they'll just cut you right off yeah that's a great analogy you gotta close that you gotta keep the spaces between the cars close let up and they're just those just slide right in you guys saw that right you can see it right up and that's what colin and ben did and that's that's colin and ben right there all right here we go the johns brothers rolling here six four two back from this timeout and on our other stream those are the other two teams left in our draw adam stone and rob nunnery and jocelyn duvier and pat smith winner of that gets the loser of this for bronze oh deacon was ready great job by steve like you said lauren deacon was ready and he was ready on the second one too i mean you saw him take that time out after getting caught a couple times and he was like i'm not letting that happen again four seven one see if bar and deacon oh well can get a little something going and that'll that'll start right on cue good initial block by colin johns but he couldn't do much with it so it just puts them at a huge disadvantage and deckle able to attack the second [Music] making a good run here great patience by all four of these gentlemen currently my so deckle giving ben a little taste of his own medicine on this little attack on a short ball let it drop boom flip down the middle bender perfect attack oh i thought you're going to say this i thought you're going full name oh no i stopped you were like why is that a bar i'm sorry bar but no ben is one of the best at doing that little roll that backhand roll and uh deco gives it right back to him so very nice shot and now i think we're at 7-7 here but that was the ultimate patience during that rally you saw you know nobody pulled the trigger too quickly deco was waiting for just the perfect opportunity you know pulling pulling ben out wide trying to create that gap up the middle and uh he finally got exactly what he wanted and executed perfectly back here steve deacon serving larry scott our usa certified pickleball certified referee all right also i don't know if anyone has noticed steve deacon is playing with a brand new head paddle that i do not think has been released to the public i'm yet sure the name of it what a firefight there here we go if anyone thinks colin johns can be underestimated here in game one of our men's winter bracket final another extreme patience dink rally oh just warm out and that's almost who's gonna blink first i would almost rather get beat on a winner than get someone to beat me in a 30-shot dink rally it's more deflating because now you're thinking oh no don't let them do it again nice job oh he just perfectly covered for steve deacon as he was making his way up he was like i got this whole court don't you worry it's like forget the dinking i'm done deacon didn't even need to get involved in that point oh it's too big the first bar ernie of the day gotta watch out for the big ones dom yeah those big guys are scary speaking of two big guys got knocked out eden lika and andre descou they go down dude quite a run though yeah they went down to i believe it was nunnery and stone got to see them a couple times here on center court though great matches eight eight here game one wouldn't have it any other way here lauren um i mean what are what are we predicting a game to three dom already or yeah i mean i can't say it yet i gotta see the the outcome of game one oh good recovery by ben holy cow unreal were talking about the ladies and doesn't get any better on the men's side same thing right here it doesn't get any better oh shot so far this game we haven't seen many sort of unforced errors and just kind of wild swings like that yeah both teams have been very very steady so far here in game one very dialed in that's a rare miss there from ben johns on a transition area dink paul has some pace on it oh a little ambitious there from deacon on that flip a little too low for that i think 982 see if deacon and barr can hold the john's brothers off here get the ball back ah colin wants that one back he doesn't miss that one either that often but it's a big side out for deacon and bar here huge big 891 massive see if they can turn it into some points though great effort by deacon there let's watch it here again ben just going great angle there yep i mean once you pull one partner that far off the court you have a lot more court to work with on that next shot oh ball encore 892 see if deacon and bar can tie it up here nope just nope no i love your of course we have steve deacon and daquel barr on the far side now ben johns and colin johns on the near side ben john's serving here's zero zero oh just long on that serve return these kind of matches dom one point one way or the other can can start to start a momentum run start a streak you just that serve return is critical to get in that's if you're gonna make a mistake you don't want it to be not getting your server turned in 0-1-1 ah just too big of a hole to fill there so on our third court in here that is our senior women's pro bronze medal match being played between leslie bernard and helen wilhelm so it's helen wilhelm and leslie bernard versus teresa tarn and nancy henderson excellent congrats ladies on making it to the bronze medal match 101 here in game two and there is another serve return that goes deep remember the wind is now to the back of deacon and bar so they're gonna have to adjust to that now especially on the serve return and make sure you know they make the necessary adjustments to make sure they'll stay in oh that was just a weird miss it ben john's kind of looking at the ball looking at the ground just uh what happened what was going on there the ernie dink from decal not very often are you going to fool ben johns we're trying to take him down the line when there's six inches of line to go down yeah deacon kind of surprised him there a little bit i think ben john's thought he was well covering that line which he was and deacon still tried to thread that needle worked in his favor two two one deco's been crushing those third shot drives he got colin on the last one that one unfortunately sends it a little long two two two i heard kathy wow that's just great patience and literally singling out deacon there from the johns brothers putting a lot of pressure on him and forcing a mistake i mean i know we're used to the women's matches having some really long dink rallies and patients rallies but we're seeing some definitely rivaling patients here from these four gentlemen for sure two two two oh that one's in the stands that one goes in the stands some quick hands there too that was in and out crushed it i mean i don't even can you imagine being on the receiving end of a decal bar drive holy cow oh that was ambitious if you don't get your paddle on it it might hurt it might leave a mark we have a score from over there deacon just a little out in front of that block from colin pushes it down into the net and we're still at 2-2 quite an epic match going on in our other men's pro double match on our on steve right now that's a good shot there from colin johns going down the line on decal bar and for anyone who thinks we're not just being cute saying his name like that i i hate to burst everyone's bubble in pickleball land but everyone including us for as long as probably anyone's been around we've been saying decal deco bar and that is not how you say his name it's dekkel dekelbar from israel and so we're trying to slowly unlearn decal we'll still say it sometimes but we're really trying to make a conscious effort to say it actually correctly because decal deserves to have his name said correctly why should we just you know americanize his name for our sake so everyone in pickleball land try and relearn decal decalbar it's not it's not as easy to say i'll say that i'll tell you that right now but so we have an update from court two um jocelyn duvier and pat smith take down rob nunnery and adam stone to put themselves in the men's pro doubles bronze medal match coming up shortly that update from our women's bracket please please so lee and annely waters obviously lost to simone jarjim and catherine parenteau they are playing in the bronze medal match against andrea coop and corinne carr who defeated leia jansen and lauren stratman 15 12 to get into the bronze medal there all right finally jeez he's like can i get one of them that bronze medal women's match is coming up of those ball cracking overheads from ben jones seems to be a lot of those however in this florida heat those uh onyx dura fast 40s hold up a lot better under under that kind of power 742 colin john ben john just kind of hooks that in a weird you know kind of shaking his head he's clearly not happy with himself we're gonna have a timeout following that frustration to uh walk it off cool it off kind of get it out of our minds and reset uh deacon and bar you know crawling their way inching slowly up the scoreboard to try and uh catch up to john's who are at seven while they are at four still serving when we'll come back from this time out here yep what do you want to see from from bar and deacon to try to stay in this it's it's tough because it's you got to play your game plan and what seems to be their game plan is um decal against ben crosscourt they want to go there because decal can handle ben's thinking cross court but i think decal needs to reset a couple maybe look for the ernie and then get deacon involved what ben and colin are doing a good job of right now is they've isolated deacon a couple times and uh he's gotten stuck so decal needs to make sure he gets uh ben involved in going cross court with him and see if he can set himself up there's the attack that colin and ben have on deacon right there and right back to their game plan 472. of course we've seen you know a couple of those heartbreaking what he had him off balance decollete that kind of the fact that got there at all excuse me the fact that barr got there and then had to kind of reestablish himself was tough he was off balance leaning forward but what a behind the back shot from deacon oh that i i was so impressed that he he got it but then it was way long so very sad and i don't this game especially you know we've seen a couple unforced errors where you know deacons hit a couple of those put aways right into the net bars had a couple too and that that can really be a difference maker wow great coverage there by colin this is where i'd like to see deck there kind of a reset that's it right there kind of just what i was talking about there is almost reset that get deacon involved there ben john's got caught cheating a little bit to the middle and deacon goes back door hmm just a little low i think even and the thing is even if he gets that over the net i think he risks it going along because he's coming from so low and flipping it up you know i think ultimately he's probably trying to flick it up into colin's upper body and catch him off guard but if colin can get out of the way you know it maybe sails along but and match point all of a sudden yep a little frustrated with himself trying to hit the ball three more times as he mishit that block all right i think probably deacon and bar this is gonna be potentially their last serving opportunity to put some points on the board give me that reset here deck set yourself up i went back to it again i just like to see him get out get ben out of that rhythm put ben move it around yeah put ben in a rhythm like that it's gonna be tough oh oh that was in okay so barr screaming across deacon couldn't get the poach but cuts in front of him screens the shot and i don't think colin or ben saw deacon's winner down the middle do it again boys fantastic do it again it worked [Music] see that's it and and they're they're getting more opportunities off of that than they are when he's just going cross court when he's going cross court you're getting sucked into what ben johns wants you to do it's just time on court one we're seeing jocelyn and patrick this should be a great match without a doubt here some heavy hitters again this match too lands just on that line to the dismay of steve deacon if looks could kill deacon has some of the worst oh yeah he's got a mean mugging face sometimes one zero one deviates serving uh michael just kind of takes a little stroll through the kitchen since he already knew after that clipped the net he was kitchen violationing it and that's a good attack there from deco from a low position patrick smith winter soldiering with his one arm over there taking it to three zero one here yes we're hearing from the truck this is a rematch from earlier where deacon and barr came out on top in three games 11 six eight eleven eleven six so ooh a barn burner jocelyn and pat looking for some revenge after that loss earlier today but that again is one of the great things about pickleball is that you could meet up later again and thus the bronze medal match here i don't know what you're doing there was a bug on me i'm sorry all right 0-4-1 smith and davier out to an early lead but like we've seen a lot today dom early leads have not always lasted all that long so we'll see if deacon and barr can answer deckle sitting on that ball with his forehand we got a ball coming over here steve taylor's got it guys he's got it jocelyn davier serving here four zero go come on a lot of times we've seen sort of a smith and d'vie since they partner together a lot i'll just say their their number one strength is not patience so i know they're uh they're working on that and trying to be better so we'll see how well they do nice they're working on that they've gone to counseling they've seen somebody not saying that the two of them need counseling but i mean everybody should go to therapy that's a great block there by dekalb bar on the counter for the side out all right so now zero five deacon and bar need to get something going here that'll help yeah that's the high side of that high part of the net there for jocelyn duvier to go over with that ball does not bounce up very high and it's a difficult attack wind is a factor right now it is still coming out of the north picking up a little here so it's in the face of deacon and bar to the back of smith and davie that's a good attack there from pat smith waiting waiting waiting and holding that letting the ball bounce to its apex and then attack it at its apex down the middle two five two yes five three one nice free point there for smith and duvier on the bar missed return at this point we they cannot afford free points deco very frustrated good time out here from barr yeah he keeps repeating so bad so bad big frustration sort of radiating out of the deacon bar time-out camp over there just need to uh take this moment kind of regroup get back uh in a good headspace now i think that's that's that's probably their their biggest issue right now you know they said they beat patrick and jocelyn earlier in the day uh certainly capable of doing it again but uh if you let yourself kind of get too far down that rabbit hole right mentally it's hard to come back and you just have to be able to overcome that and put it set it aside and that's the hard part too is that beating someone twice in in one day is very difficult sure um beating them once is good but having to beat them again twice not the easiest task oh chest long decal ass larry scott just for a confirmation it's 8-3-1 here now in game one of our bronze medal match smith and vivier on top that's great hands by pat smith on the ball that deacon hits that clips the top of the net smith able to catch his breath and put the ball away smith just missed that one very hard to beat pat smith in a hand battle his hands are some of the fastest around especially on that backhand side somebody got into that fire fight a little too quickly yeah pat wants to get into that firefight kitchen line the kitchen line not kitchen line to transition area like that that's what he wants right there he just missed i think we've seen today dom you know the the side that smith and davier are on now with the wind to their back oh wow some great gets back there from deacon on a ball that typically wouldn't come back wouldn't you say that that far side that we're looking at currently seems to be at a bit of an advantage yeah it has the way it's been playing today it has been most of the day the teams have been able to control their drives from that side five nine two here deacon and bar making a go at it let's see if they can hold smith and davier here to another side out amazing return by bar there it was on that back line the wind held that one up big time yeah that's the problem you get at this level if your return is not deep that ball's going to be attackable from the transition area and pat it's exactly what he did there pat smith comes in and attacks that ball from transition makes it very difficult for deakin to handle that game point oh that's not the way deacon and barr wanted to see game one go but uh a big congrats to pat smith and jocelyn devier on their way uh for a comeback play all weekend long so far here singles was thursday today is men's and women's doubles tomorrow mix doubles some of the best pickleball you'll see anywhere is happening here in delray beach florida at our second app tour stop of 2021 we got people in the stands up in the chairs and the bleachers all around it's awesome to have this crowd here being able to have the space to spread out and still say uh socially distance while still getting a good amount of people in here to watch this action so it's great to be able to have the energy of the crowd watching we are here at our pro men's doubles bronze medal match we are just about to start game two we've switched ends and now jocelyn devier and patrick smith on the near side are serving to steve deacon and dekkel barr game two is underway update from our women's pro bronze medal match lee and annalee waters are up i believe 3 4 now or they're up four three but andrea cooper and corinne carr are serving so it's in a game three over there of course exciting of course that's being streamed on our second court live stream oh great job by pat smith there good hands deckle bar you can see it on the replay instead of just kind of going straight he ultimately a little deception as he kind of brings it wide jocelyn duvier not quite ready for the placement of that gets the side out 0-1-1 steve deacon serving oh that's too good court of course it's a family affair for jocelyn davier here in delray beach florida i think for the first time uh at one of these on the road pickleball tournaments his wife and two little sons are with him i'm not sure they have the attention span yet to want to watch dad all day long but probably about 10 minutes and then they're like let's go i think that's gonna be a key right there for deacon and barr if they're gonna attack i think they need to attack at jocelyn duvet and not pat smith it's not that duvier's hands are not good but i think that pat smith's hands are that much quicker and so if you're gonna attack it's gonna be at duvet and not smith wow i mean the atp foot fault though on patrick smith oh slash it's jocelyn excuse me yep that's a great call you saw it right there cool actually i feel like i might have got called on pat but clearly was jocelyn who was well over the kitchen line when these points go so fast sometimes it's you make the call and you know they're three points three shots past it but great job by larry scott [Applause] wow incredible hands by pat smith there blocking the ernie from dakal bar and it's still just one zero one down i was like wait a second is it like seven three right now nope 1-0 3-5-2 over on our women's pro bronze medal match annalee and lee waters in the lead over andrea coop and corinne carr great read by deacon able to block that shot by de ville up the middle and then the second one after that zero one one tough ball for duvet to attack there great drive and attack there from steve deacon watch the replay just split smith and duvet down the middle look at deacon i mean that's your ultimate scramble you're seeing barr hit two balls with his left hand absolutely incredible good defense there from deacon and barr oh good good leave [Music] that ball is gonna go out but he knew it yeah naturally couldn't get that paddle out of the way no just natural reaction there from duvet good leave i thought pat was gonna recognize barr coming across smith didn't notice and hit right into his forehand but bar just a little too hard there it is hit his leg and uh fleming and darisi moving on to the men's senior pro gold medal match defeating rick woodskin and scott moore yay dave fleming yeah it's too good decal bar ernie there right up the middle one two two here in game two that's it i cannot believe the score is so low still wind picking up here a little gusting oh that's a great fake by bar he almost came across like he was going to completely poach held his ground duvier thought he was going to go tried to go backside barr was there last i heard the waters were up 8-3 over coopen car in the women's bronze medal match in game three that was not english out of pat smith's mouth there no a lot of german came out there we have a lot of fun players uh international players who you can tell when they're not happy because that native that native language starts flowing you got pat smith german jocelyn duvier speaks five different languages deacon will bust in an a every once in a while he speaks canadian and uh fluently decal is from israel so there's a lot of nationalities on the court for this men's bronze medal match love to see it yeah so uh a lot of great action going on right now uh the waters playing corinne carr and andrea coop in that women's bronze medal match we got a barn burner here deacon and barr out to a 4-1 lead here in the second game trying to force a game three but they did defeat smith and duvier earlier in the day to drop them down into the consolation bracket and they've battled their way back here to this bronze medal match so we'll see which one of these teams ultimately moves on to take on the john's brothers who are waiting in our gold medal match ben and colin johns which we'll have up shortly after this match will we'll probably give whoever wins this match just a little bit of a breather a little break not much but in all honesty as a player if you're coming off that wind you don't want to wait that much you want a couple minutes to get a drink off you just want to you know catch your breath a minute oh decal was yeah he was ready it was the biggest thing he did though is he just he took a swing at that if he just blocks that that's gonna go right down at pat's feet but he took a swing at it tried to do a little too much with it four one two yeah sorry jocelyn's like yes oh sorry sorry didn't mean to get you in the chest i don't even think deacon minds you know a little frustrated of course with himself for allowing that to happen but it's part of the game foot vault on bar deckell larry scott on top of it two four one here in our game two of our men's bronze medal match oh so he missed it that a little right d can totally mishit that ball um because he basically caught it and threw it and did not mean to do that but what happens on that is hard to control um but the speed on that is incredible good attack there from duvet uh playing aggressively charging the net there and catching deacon oh great spot by bar and dom just so you know uh peter smith who is patrick smith's father i've had the pleasure of video chatting with i'm just going to throw that out there he wants to make sure everyone knows he's half kiwi half german his father is from new zealand his mother from germany so he just wants to make sure to get that kiwi part in there absolutely i i apologize mr smith oh it's too but it's all about the element of surprise there all right taking them bar they're starting to gel they're starting to groove here you can feel the confidence building that's not going to help them no i'd like deacon to come in and attack that ball yeah i mean shortly the wind it's so short you really got to take advantage of that it's a short return from pat smith and come in and attack that see oh i don't i don't know if that one was in on the side that was close yeah it was it skipped it like just caught that outer oh my you catch the outer eighth of the line lucky break for deacon and bar as davier dumps that in the net the issue right now is that smith and duvet are into the wind and smith's trying to cut that return he's not getting anything on it he needs to turn and hit his forehand and rip that return deep breaking news from court two lee and annalee waters have defeated andrea coop and corinne carr in our bronze medal match to head to the gold medal for a rematch with simone jarjin and katherine parenteau now we have a timeout here in our men's bronze medal match and like i said you know their returns are setting up attackable balls for deacon and barr i just need to get those returns a little deeper and again it's nothing but the wind in their face so it's not as easy as it looks to say oh i just need to hit my returns deeper they really need to get into that ball and hit it so i'd like to see both duvier and smith get around on their forehand so they can get a little more power on that and get it deeper they both like to cut their returns but what's happening is the wind's knocking that down on the cut and creating short returns so needs to get changed quick here because it's 9-3 in favor of deacon and bar and if they don't stop this right now we're gonna be forced into a game three sure will and of course like we mentioned before deacon and barr need to on the other side take advantage of those short returns or short balls if they see them and need to attack those but also have to keep in mind the wind is to their backs and you can't get you know a hold of it too much or it's gonna go it's gonna go sailing yeah you gotta really be good about placement and kind of getting over the top of those balls nine three two back from this timeout oh no see there it was they i mean and pat got to his forehand but he he for lack of a better term he babied it and just guided it over the net he's gotta hit it especially from this side and if they go game three they're gonna end on this side he needs to be able to hit that jay going with a shirt change okay okay wow all right interesting bar just leaving the sideline open attempting to poach middle and now uh now he knows he can't do that oh oh and the wind holds that up good pickup attempt all right but great job by bar they got one back really deep right go to kathy sighting that's uh game one going to patrick smith and jocelyn devier game two going to steve deacon and deco bar who are the ones that put pat and jocelyn into the consolation bracket earlier in the day so this is a rematch of that match yep and it sounds like it's still 76 degrees right now partly cloudy with gusts of 15 almost 20 now so it is kind of picking up a little bit um as the day has gone on but chances of rain are very low at the moment only about ten to nine percent so you went down yeah i can do that but is it different if i say nine to ten or ten to nine it's still the same oh no one goes down i mean if you're doing ranges either way it's a very low chance of rain with uh 15 to 20 mile an hour gusts and about 76 degrees but still a lovely day for pickleball it's beautiful nice cloud cover keeping the players cool we've seen a lot of shirt changes still however uh everyone's still getting plenty good and sweaty here uh at the app delivery beach pickleball open but if you look straight out well if we look you guys you guys you guys are eyeballs but we'll use ours we have men's senior pro gold medal match women's senior pro gold medal match the women getting the love on court two on the stream for our women's senior pro gold medal match about to go down yes we are streaming two courts simultaneous right now morgan evans ari shannock our commentators over for our court two but we are getting back to the action here on championship court number one here we go steve deacon and declare getting back into the action on the near side serving to jocelyn devier and patrick smith we will change ends at six since we are in game three the winner of this moves on to take on ben johns and colin johns in our gold medal match which will be up next after this so what i'd like to see out of pat smith and jocelyn duvier is the same thing that barr and deacon did on those short returns come in and attack and put that pressure on there's a great return by barr wow little fire fight let's watch a little bit of it again deacon and bar come out on top oh that was a little closer than i think jocelyn thought it was yeah i almost caught that corner back there but did indeed go out zero zero two larry scott our usa pickleball certified ref here on championship port one oh daquel bar with a little slingshot action on that let's check it out one more time he just comes right across his body out of patrick smith's reach and they're on the board 1-0-2 here in game three of our men's bronze medal match oh yeah great read i mean there was a lot going on in that half a point here watch the deckless dekal stops pat reads that comes across and puts the winner between bar and deacon oh no miss hit off the tip of the paddle you have to think probably the wind had a little bit to do with that as it is getting a little gustier here those are like a shot to the heart down just heartbreaking oh there it is duvier taking advantage that short return we just talked about score is 4-1-1 on the time-out duvier and smith in control this game three early on like we've mentioned however they're on the quote-unquote good side with the wind to their back uh whoever's been on that side seems to be faring better uh in terms of the outcome of things so we will see uh if they can get out to a big enough lead it's going to be really interesting to see if that is the way it continues to play unless smith and davier can get that to that sixth first and have the lead going into the end change that'll put them in a much better position especially if deacon and bar are kind of able to come back after they switch ends and are on yeah you know the favorable side with the wind as it were so if deacon and barr are able to get out and hit ahead and get that six for the change uh pat and jocelyn might be in a little bit of trouble not that you know yeah it can't be overcome for sure that's just been kind of how it's been been going today so far that we've seen but we're back from the time out jocelyn devier about to serve to steve deacon three one one three i said four my fault oh yeah that was in barr let that ball bounce because he thought it might go out and it didn't the wind knocked it down and kept it in four one two great counter attack there from pat smith on the bar speed up pat smith ready for that and we're one point away from an end change and a 6-1 lead see and again lauren that's exactly you and i have pointed out you pointed out too is that that short return set up that drive to drop and set up that whole point so it's a 6-1 lead now it's about what can duvet and smith do from this quote-unquote bad side to counter uh what barr and deacon did to them on this side so gonna be interesting to see here absolutely we've certainly seen seen bigger leads disappear yes we are in matches earlier in the day so six one is certainly not uh a guaranteed anything by any means definitely that certainly puts them in a good position uh we talk about a lot you know the confidence going into the second half of this match after the end change kind of having that lead being the one to get there first any hope carries over as you change ends um ultimately of course it's it's a you know a non-timeout timeout that the players get as you change ends so it is probably a good thing for deacon and barr you know they get this kind of cooling off period hopefully you know they get the ball back after the end change and then they're gonna want to try and do something with it here let's see if they can stop the bleeding here at six one two oh oh my goodness i mean the bars going for that ernie and it's not bad but it's just smith and duvet are leaving it just out of reach that he can't get too much on it yep that's a much needed side out there from bar and deacon now let's see if they can put some pressure on smith and duvier and for some action here so that wasn't a great return but it was to deacon's backhand so him attacking that really i mean deacon and bar at this point they they have obviously have to put some points on the board but i think ultimately they mentally want to chip away at the confidence that smith and divya have right now as they're kind of in control you know they've held off several serves with no points scored so they're feeling good they're feeling in the driver's seat and deacon and barr need to try and get something going and maybe rattle their nerves a little as it were the wind wow and it picked up like mid-point there's disgusting the thing you want to see here out of duvier and smith okay they've been in this position before against teams just like barr and deacon against the johns brothers they've had match points they just need to stay within themselves don't get crazy don't do too many things that are out of the ordinary don't try and get cute with too many points but just play their point out there it is staying within don't do too much don't get crazy and do your job here and you're in control oh the hands by duvier on that point right there they are feeling it right now we got a match point on duvier's paddle here lauren to take on ben johns and colin johns waiting in the gold medal match as a reminder we got we got a decent amount of wind going on here gusts 15 to 20 miles an hour coming out of the north so behind smith and davier okay okay okay right off the bat oh no oh no oh well that's not how you want to start a gold medal match so ben's laughing ben's completely laughing at his brother so rude okay that's not a joke no and it's not like clearly i mean it's not like pat was uh his man area yes on the first point very first point um you know everybody's kind of joking around colin's the only one not laughing i mean if it had happened to ben colin would probably be smiling and laughing a little as well however when it's you uh there's all you gentlemen out there he wants to have kids one day so is all you gentlemen out there understand it does hurt and it does take a few minutes to wear off okay he's he's getting there the crowd is applauding ben is still with a smirk on his face i mean people if you just saw that point that wasn't like a deflection it was a between pat and colin um literally pat's not trying to do that so they just had a nice paddle tap everything's good colin's just still trying to walk it off it does take a while for that to go away i wouldn't know dom but i'll take your word for it yes larry giving him all the time he needs so jay and ben uh standing on the court yeah let's play some singles ben's going well he can kind of stand over there and he points to his brother and goes he obviously can't play so let's just do this oh and the thing is i kind of feel for colin because i feel like you know he he's in front of all these people he knows he's on the live stream i feel like in any normal situation there would maybe be like uh a little more maybe attention colin would be trying to help ease the pain but uh you know he doesn't want to be all all up in his business in front of everybody so i understand that we have the trainer out there now what's he gonna do nothing but i mean it could be an extenuating circumstance where something did you know happen but um comments on the stream pickleball players need to be wearing cups uh he would know he in cincinnati had the exact same thing happening right we had that on the stream as well there's a picture of it that has certainly been posted gucci you would know i mean i i think this probably was a medical timeout let's be honest out there they're probably discussing it yeah i mean that question was posed on the feed is this a medical timeout it is taking you know obviously longer than a regular timeout so i would imagine this would be a medical timeout so we would get the 15 minutes if needed yeah oh pat smith is stretching trying to stay loose there's obviously some joking going on between everybody but colin does seem to be smiling now all right i mean if you are watching this on youtube you can technically rewind uh you know to your heart's content if you if you missed it the first time i just want to see how intense that actually was for colin rich the men's senior pro gold medal match is still going on between jaime on scenes and steve kennedy playing dave fleming and jose darisi but still going on on our all right third quarter i think colin has recovered to the best of his ability oh a little just a little working it out still you know i did get a point on that too so that's extra day fleming is firing up the crowd over there all right guys all right we're back to the action if we remember we are in our gold medal match we we had just started that was the first point so we're basically just starting again with a side out and nothing wrong there colin's all right good hands all right zero one one let's get back to the real pickleball action guys we've had enough fun zane i am not letting people know that zero one two ben john serving to jocelyn devier that wind got that one yeah it's good pressure and uh i did i talked to pat and smith and jay duvier after this last match i was talking to them about being deeper on that return like that wasn't uh colin did not return very deep and they're like it's just it is hard and they're tr obviously they're trying to return it deep but that windows are knocking it down barely letting some of those returns clear the kitchen line i think that's why the team on pat and jay's side has typically fared better in these wind conditions so when was the last time you saw both colin and ben johns both get hit with a ball in the same match and that's that's happened three nothing in one match here oddity i appreciate that everyone at home is having a lot of fun in the comments however we're enjoying it as well that's a good leave by colin johns there i think he was just getting out of the way just in case dumb you never know a good reason i'm getting out of the way this time oh did you quite get it he had it he had the angle just didn't quite get enough on it yeah that's great cross court there that's that backhand from jay you get anything that jay's backhand chest high or higher his backhand put away is as good as a lot of players forehand it's so much behind it zero four two here in game one of our gold medal match men's pro doubles and no points on the board yet for ben and colin johns jocelyn devier wow great job by pat smith on the cover of the around the post from ben johns who had it pack covered and we're able to get back in that point find the put away out to a 5-0 lead here in game one wow that is an absolute incredible drop shot from jocelyn duvier to set up the put away by pat smith and they are cruising i did not see this one coming here lauren now when i say that i am the way that colin started this match to throw him off his game a little bit and i didn't mean anything by like saying that pat and jay oh no of course but i didn't see a 6-0 lead right off the bat that's good put away from colin johns wind picking up yet again coming out of the north right into the john's face which is why uh you know those drives and drops need to be gotta put a lot on them or the wind's gonna hold them up that's tough that's into the wind there too for ben to hit that out oh no okay so there's a purpose to everything that ben just did right there with that put away and his walk back to the baseline i'm gonna look to ben to be a little more active here he does not take kindly to being down this much oh he's not like being toyed with and i think that's what he feels like right now zero six one colin john serving here in game one of our gold medal match so i like the idea kind of um i don't like that jay went too much with ben to the backhand and i know it's a almost a thing where you want to try and beat ben in his own game but you gotta change it up a little bit don't let him get in a rhythm it's gonna hold up oh that's a nice shot from colin johns thank you 262 the john's finally on the board here in game one good leave three six two we probably could six three one devi and smith serving that's a nice attack there from ben john's on his backhand oh seven three two patrick smith serving just just a reminder that if pat smith and jocelyn duvier do win this two out of three they have uh one game to 15. because ben johns and colin john's coming out of the winners bracket oh we're just telling the dj to get fired up now that the two other courts here in the stadium are clear there it is oh yeah there it is there's kathy oh we got a little techno right out of the gate fire everybody up here oh whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa right we are here of course our men's pro gold medal match colin johns and ben johns currently down in game one to patrick smith and jocelyn devier with a score of 7-4 smith and davier out in front but ben johns has the serve as we come back from this time out four seven no no last place you want to go is attacking ben john's forehand especially when it's sitting right there in the middle oh good shot there from jocelyn dude right on that baseline five seven two oh my goodness oh that one was wide ben john's here with the go go gadget arm i can't believe you got a paddle on that let alone got it back and in it's been jon's for i guess it's all about just getting the ball back over wow jocelyn duvier was just blocking my view and you're kind of blocking the camera view as well but colin johns with that perfect placement down that sideline right into that back corner which leads to a timeout as they've tied it up here 7-7 i mean technically patrick smith jocelyn devier on uh what has statistically been the better side for teams with the wind to their back but uh obviously ben john's number one player in the world colin johns not too shabby either uh i don't think i think they're one of the teams we can maybe be like they can overcome the wind in their face whereas some other teams have struggled early in their day so right we've tied it up here in game one and of course ben johns and colin johns if they win this two out of three portion like you mentioned they will be our gold medal winners if not we will go to a brand new match to 15 tiebreaker and uh we'll we'll see how it all shakes out down yeah we're all even here so four points to go who can get there good attack on the backhand side from pat smith there force the side out and see if they can get back on point here after that quick 6-0 lead ben and colin johns able to battle back and tie this up at seven and then long serve the wind at the back that's a good setup from pat smith after ben got caught in the middle he pulled him way wide to his backhand it opened up the middle for him and able to get the put away just long how in the world did that ball go long into the wind i mean i'm almost getting blown off my chair right now in the booth dom so your guess is as good as mine oh you've been using the net a little bit and we got a game point here for duvier and smith game one of this gold medal match there it is it's a great time out at seven seven absolutely really duvier and smith and that kind of calmed their nerves and uh got back in it came back got the side out and then four straight points to take game one all right let's see how the johns brothers recover as we get into uh game two here momentarily and it's as we mentioned earlier it is a family affair for jocelyn duvier his wife and two little boys are in the stadium they came up and said hi earlier which was super fun and i think we have more than 50 percent of the john siblings in the house as well dumb we do they're all over the place hannah johns and lily johns are in the stands yep cheering on i'm sure they're brothers ben and colin it's a john's family affair it sure is in town for ben's birthday yep if you can't join us like to be in florida if you can't spend your birthday with family who can you spend it with your friends yeah i mean probably your friends your neighbors your kids kids friends parents an epic little first game here and the pressure is on for ben ben johns and colin johns here as we switch ends they need to win this game too to take it to a game three tiebreaker statistically they're on the the better side that's played better throughout the day colin john's about to start us off here in game two serving to jocelyn devier and patrick smith zero zero two game two it's a good start there for colin and ben johns getting that first point off the bat hmm a little miscommunication there yeah i think jocelyn duvier went for that backhand yeah i should just let pat smith take that ball ooh and a quick decisive start here for the john's brothers out to 3-0 have yet to have a side out here in game two good leave there continues ben johnson quick start the opposite way as game one started uh and balls get right off that line creating a little havoc for ben john's good side out here for duvier and smith find themselves in a little bit of a hole early though down 0-4 now on second server oh that ball just dipped and john's had to hustle to get up there and get it pat takes that ball off the chest quick side out there for the john's brothers back to work with a 4-0 lead oh i think pat distracted jay he appeared he was kind of like caught on the side of the net almost almost he's trying to avoid it yep and you can already tell the difference down here in game two as colin and ben johns have switched to that end aside from that ball sailing along from ben john's there they just seem much more at ease on that side with the wind at their backs you know they don't seem to be struggling at all in calm control yeah for sure with a 502 lead here in game two of our gold medal match that's good length there from pat making himself very big to get that ball out of the air to van smith looking to try and just get on the board here on the serve every serve opportunity that goes by without any points is a potential danger zone situation when you have the john's brothers on the other side that's good attack there on the board that zero can can loom heavy dom in the mental aspect of your game yeah and then you get the one and now it's like okay now after the one i need a crooked number because you can get stuck on one too it's a good put away there from ben johns to get the side out five one one i'd like to see colin come in on that first ball on the return and attack that instead of drop that it was very short try and create all right some emotion out of ben john's there as he uh ramped it up there that exchange really kind of going on the offensive and taking over 161 patrick smith serving here in game two oh that's a nice little flip down the line from jocelyn duvet watch this here that is pretty so he realized he was trying to go around the post but didn't have the room so we had to flip it over the post right there and colin johns just wasn't ready for that that's a good angle there ben with the back up over overhead ready just in case but colin took care of business colin telling little brother to back off 262. oh good recovery by colin wow that's good great recovery off the net there quick reflexes kind of tomahawk that down gotta do what you gotta do six two one jay just being uh getting a little too far out in front of it especially with the wind in his face let it get to you oh no so for those of you guys out there you saw the confusion with duvet and smith at the very beginning at that point if you're stacking and you're giving hand signals you need to make sure that your partner acknowledges jay gave the open hand switch pat did not acknowledge and they both ended up on the same side now jay acknowledged there and switched oh oh i think colin played now he sure did but yeah that partner communication absolutely i almost thought jocelyn kind of stepped on pat's foot and kind of caught him a little bit i think he did as he went to move out and then they kind of gave each other a look they'll work it out oh just long but the right idea colin john's going up the middle there he had it just put a little too much sauce on it he he wound up to hit that i don't think he needs to wind up and just punch that down the middle it was there both smith and duvier were not expecting that shot dj got excited like it not a timeout though duvier and smith need to put a little run here get back in this you don't want to give colin and ben johns too many opportunities there's another 482 patrick smith serving here in game two good recovery off the net there by ben johns get the serve back uh colin and ben john's looking to take this match to a game three after losing game one eleven seven good spot there oh beautiful forehand ernie there by jocelyn devier reading that so well not short statured gentlemen they're both 6-2 so they got that reach you might fool him once but you're breaker breaker um got some some wardrobe changes out here and we're back to the action good start for the johns brothers getting that side out really quick we will switch ends at six potentially putting the john's brothers at an advantage for the second half of this game after we switch ends it'll be real important to see who gets to six first here colin and ben johns definitely struggled in game one being on this side first in game one losing that one 11-7 much more confident on the far side with the wind to their back winning game two 11-4 very odd right there to see ben overhit a ball but that's exactly what you saw right there and a lead here for smith and duvier early ben hit an outball there i was like that was going out that was pure frustration sometimes ben johnson just needs that next put away oh he saw it on that one right there the wind is gusting significantly it's not all the time but you guys could see the palm trees around here they are whipping in the wind did you say whipping i sure did oh that's a great shot by colin johns letting that ball travel and get wide i almost thought that ball was out but he played but that atp would have been away two three feet in mm-hmm [Music] get back on the court oh no did you see the wind right right right off the end of this battle he had it perfectly and the wind sucked it out oh disappointing oh what a rally what a scramble there from the johns brothers just to just stay in that point ben johns firmly planted right in the center of the court really allowed i think you know devier was trying to go behind him but that ultimately just set up him for that two-handed backhand three one two oh ben leaves it for colin colin thought he was going to clean it up colin just thought thought ben had it 100 colin didn't even go for it one three one smith serving game three of our gold medal match just long nice leave and again that's a tough leave especially because that ball was very low so it wasn't like that ball was high in sailing out that ball was low but recognizing how hard pat hit that wow what defense by colin johns there to handle that onslaught from jocelyn duvier three one one we will switch ends at six oh that is the dva deception drop i just named it that's the name of it he loves that little drop shot when his opponents are back at the baseline he does it so well yeah pat's questioning that attack ball's too low there you're i ended up hitting up on that colin and ben are standing tall at the kitchen line and able to hit down you're in trouble four one two oh oh wow nice read by pat smith there pulling ben john's off to the left and then that kind of awkward backhand backwards ernie but got the job done got the side out one for one all right they're awful one let's see they in the final final points here of the day for our pro men's gold medal match our women's gold medal match will be aired on cbs sports april 3rd at 8 p.m eastern so that's when you're gonna be able to see that match up we are currently in the middle of game three here colin johns and ben johns out ahead he is he's getting a little tired of getting hit i think damn no one clips the net of course accidental he's gonna have to shake it off though they're up here four two two in game three we're gonna switch ends at six he's gotta be able to stay mentally in the game seen i don't know i i want to i'd rather jay at that point and it's nothing personal just business you have a frustrated colin you have to go after them i mean those are right there those are frustration shots um i i time out here i would call from ben you gotta calm colin down here he's frustrated and if i'm duvier and smith every ball is to colin now it worked out there in your favor but still you saw the last two shots he's hit he's trying to hit the heck out of it and do too much with it you have to take advantage of that colin johns can be very emotional when he's frustrated and there's the timeout yeah i mean he's just he's calling that out of frustration he's still frustrated from three points earlier and he himself is just like no i gotta take a minute because this is gonna suck me in and i need to just take a minute and it's good that he recognizes that and takes the time out because yeah it doesn't look like ben was gonna do it for him to kind of take him out and calm him down so very wise of colin john's to to call that time out no you know they're still ahead they're they're still doing good but you just gotta you have to mentally put that aside if you want to stay in it yeah i'm just gonna i'm calling that just a little earlier you know you gave up one point actually two points i'm calling that earlier just to make sure but it looks like uh ben got colin wright here so a great time out a great use of timeouts right there we're back into the action here we're gonna have patrick smith jocelyn duvier serving three five two here in game three of our gold medal match just wide oh there it is good little run though by duvier and smith to get within one here we'll see if ben and colin johns can get to six here get that end switch and there they do so we're gonna have a an unofficial timeout as as we switch ends we had someone ask uh in an earlier match it was actually andre descou in frustration who kind of threw his paddle down on the court uh did get a warning for that um yes colin did kind of throw his paddle down but again it's at the referee's discretion if they feel it uh deserves a warning or not so that's really up to our our you know head referee at the time that's calling the match they can be a little subjective what they what they feel is appropriate and whether or not something needs to be called so certainly i think if colin had carried on or let his frustration get the better of him that was certainly a possibility but we're back here after the end change ben and colin johns now on the far side jocelyn devier and patrick smith on the near side oh oh my goodness i thought there was no chance that jay gets his ball i mean excellent job by ben john's just staying calm you know looking for it to come back and he was ready there's ben john's taking over now they gotta they smell gold dom and i feel like once benjamin gets that scent in his nose he kind of cranks it up an extra notch like a doberman he's look at him he's just itching i would definitely say look to see ben john's sort of take over a little bit more here yeah it gets to eight or nine and it's almost match point that's when he starts to revel in the moment again if patrick smith and jocelyn davier manage to pull out this game three we will go to a new tiebreaker match to 15. jocelyn uh trying something new love those tan lines just long there eight four one colin john's serving that's when he was like all right pat smith i'm sick of that well here it is you're at nine ben john's beast mode turned on and here it is he turned it up to 11 dumb yeah i mean look at him he's itching to get on the court he's like ready oh that was wind and line and i mean pat's still looking at the court wondering what in the role just happened and that is match point for the gold
