AO Smith Heat Pump Water Heater and Pump

hi i'm brian with pioneer builders i wanted to walk you through this ao smith heat pump water heater some of the different features some of the different components and give you a little walk through the supply water comes from here you see how it's blue down here that shows that's going to be a cold inlet side this is the expansion tank and then you have one isolation valve there there is a recirculation pump talked about that in a different video and that comes in here if you ever need to drain the tank you would hook a hose up to this and be able to drain it there's a couple of electrical elements in here and we'll talk about the different modes in just a second this is your temperature and pressure relief valve that drains to the outside and then this is your compensation line as we walk around on the left side this is where the electrical supply comes into the ketone water heater this is your hot water line that goes out through the house you can see the red ring there showing that now up here is the heat pump part of the system what ao smith does is they call it efficiency hybrid electric and vacation mode you can turn the temperature up and down but if you do that you have to press enter if you don't press enter it'll go back to whatever the previous set point was when it's on efficiency mode it's going to use the ambient heat in the air and transfer it into the water it's the most energy efficient way to heat up your water but it also takes the most time you can go into hybrid mode and that is a combination of the heat pump as well as one of the electrical elements or you can change it to electric i don't know if you could hear that click over but basically that fan is associated with the heat pump mode now it's going to be all electric that's going to charge the water up to temperature the fastest but it also will cost the most money to reheat and then in vacation mode i think you might have to hold this down oh here we go this is hold for vacation mode you can set how many days you're going to be gone i don't know what all the ins and outs are of the programming maybe it cycles through periodically you really don't want your water sitting but by the time you come home if your vacation was for five days hopefully you'd come back to hot water in your house so those are the main features of this the instruction manual is here and hopefully that makes you a little bit more familiar and less intimidated by this particular unit thanks for watching my name is brian again with pioneer builders and i hope you learned something i needed to add just a couple of quick things for the maintenance side the air gets supplied from the top for the heat pump operation and then it discharges out of here you can feel that air if you were here you can vacuum it you can wash it it's pretty easy to do and then just let it dry if you ended up washing it so the more free air movement it is the more efficient it's going to be okay thanks for watching this little extra segment
